Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy - это карательная игра в скалолазание, дань уважения классическому «Sexy Hiking» 2002 года в стиле Jazzuo.

I don't understand the praise for this game. The creator goes on to explain the philosophical justification for creating janky media that traumatized a generation of gamers. Looking at the gameplay of Sexy Hiking, this game is meant as a homage to it but also takes notes of players like Foddy's rage and emotional turmoils in a semi-3d setting. This game isn't meant for everyone. This game isn't even meant for you, reader. If you're already reading through reviews to justify why you want to play this, then don't. This is for the naive, those who don't understand that having limitations is a good thing. Anger shouldn't be your reason for liking a game. It's a toxic emotion when it's your main way to describe how you feel climbing the mountain and into space. As for me, I want to be happy playing a game and enjoying what it has to offer.
Hi, I've gone to the top 50 times in these 19 or so hours (and I AFK'd a lot) and I have a few words of advice:
This game at first seems daunting but then I realized one simple thing: Its all about controlling the hammer properly. The game has a lot of troll design. You are at a lot of points a lot closer to dropping to the bottom than you realize. With the clumsy controls and the map design that at a lot of points leaves very intentional holes in the ground for you to fall into there is always that risk...
BUT, it becomes a 5-10 minute challenge after you take a few tries and realize that the hammer is not as unpredictable as you first thought. You learn the tricks, the pogo jumps, the catapult style climbing, and taking the snake is actually no big deal since you'll be up there in no time. Take a good while trying to understand how the hammer moves and its different movements. REAL good game.
worst game ever, Not worth it.
You WILL ragequit multiple times
you WILL break several keyboards
It's not worth it.
After having just beat the game for the 50'th time, i think i am able to say that this game is absolutely fantastic.
This is a philosophical game about climbing, more specifically the emotional process of climbing. Reaching new heights, falling back down, trying again and again, learning every step of the way.
You could go into this game, taking every fall as a loss and proceed to get upset. But i think it's much better to take every fall as a lesson. And also a gift, a gift that lets you get even better. A gift that lets you master your craft. All the while Bennett Foddy guides you along your journey, discussing game design topics, and the current state of internet culture.
Play the game, if you are prepared to face a very challenging, but also rewarding task.
I got over it, then i got over it, for real this time but then... i got so over it and i loved it.
Amazing, frustrating game. I beat it in just under 4 hours, and it was one hell of a game. Highly recommend you finish it.
I can beat this obby with ease just that the problem is that sexy hiking has REAL PIXELS and the big disappointment about this game is that HALF of the pixels are not real. This game is super easy i could beat it with ease just that this game does NOT have real pixels. Half of the pixels are either empty or non clingable. Especially the hat part u cannot climb up at all. Its all luck based even speed runners have to restart a whole run if they mess up that part on how "real" the pixels are. What a sadness of the game not being able to fix itself up and make the pixel real like "sexy hiking" has.
its fun and hard but fun
hard but it feels like your fault when you fall... and trust me, you will
Pretty hard game but also pretty good game and i like the sound effects the guy in the pot makes. (Fair warning to new players if your going forward he will go as fast as a snail but if you falling or bouncing off the walls he will go as fast as lightning.)
I have played this game for 154 hours! I have not won! This is the hardest game ever or it may just be a skill issue. Anyways this game is very fun and very rage inducing.
Not at all angering as long as the music plays when you fall. Great reminder to not get high.
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy doesn't have much going for it, at least at face value. Abandoning anachronistic ideals regarding gameplay design, this game marked the beginning of a new movement of eccentric and burdensome games, which include titles like Only Up and Chained Together. Coming from the creative mind of QWOP, it's no wonder this game's controls make you feel like a fat buttmuncher. The gameplay is very rewarding though, because once you get used to the less-than-convienent controls, ascending becomes more and more straightforward. I have beaten this game over 70 times, 2 of which were with a N64 controller, so I see the true value of this game as a measure of your success and adaptability as a player. Please don't make a video game ever again Bennett, thanks <3
I would highly recommend this game, it is very calming and easy going!!!
This game is truly one of the best games IMO. Constantly try to better yourself makes it so annoying, yet fun at the same time. If you are on the fence of this game i'd say get it. You will suck for the first 5 hours, but after that you just get better and better,
Whenever I'm feeling mad, irritated or distraught I play this game. It makes me feel better as I realize that there is no reason to be angry and irritated, as being angry does nothing to progress anything. Being angry in fact makes progression harder than it would be. Remember this and your life will be much easier. Thank you Bennett. (I also just like playing it because I like a challenge)
7/10. This game has to be one of the best/worst experiences of my life. The feeling of falling after so long and just having to go again is AWFUL. And with Bennett Foddy talking throughout your entire climb, being both a peaceful story/mocking you as well. Just watch Markiplier before you play this game. He is the one person that truly expressed the feelings of rage this game can make.
This game is quite possibly one of the best pieces of performance art that we have seen in eons. Not only does it provide you with an incredibly simple set of base mechanics, but it also provides you a map that you can entirely complete using said mechanics. That being said, it is entirely engineered to be as much of a thorn in the ass as it could possibly be. The map is not random, quite the opposite. Attention has been given to every single part and asset of the map, and moreover how they interact with one another. Unlike other iterations of "rage" games, Getting Over It is not random, every mistake you make feels intentional. The game is very easily beatable, if you have patience. That being said, it is indescribably difficult to keep your patience when you accidentally make a mistake and fall ill to the intentionally engineered map that is specifically designed to make you rage. It also doesn't help that every time you make a mistake the game rubs it in your face by quoting ancient relics recited by the greats of at least 20 generations. If it is not evident by now, I am fuming, my hands are sweaty and my heart feels like it has gone through 3 breakups simultaneously. Getting Over It is not a game, it is a piece of modern art that relies on the human emotions to make the game difficult to execute. Well play, Mr Foddy, I salute you and wish you good luck in your future endeavors.
honestly. this game was my zen game for the longest time. in a very stressful time of my life i remember booting this game up and just playing through it, time and time again. the music, narration, and clanking of the hammer against whatever i was throwing my mouse at was really comforting. it showed me the strength of perseverance and patience in a way that nothing else did at the time. i'm really glad that i took the opportunity to slow my life down and reflect with this game and i absolutely recommend it to people.
Made me feel what is like to cry, be excited, have fun, and most important of all. Rage, rage really hard. Bennet Foddy made a true masterpiece and this game started almost my favorite genre of video games. Would highly recommend to someone who doesn't give a shit about their feelings or their confidence, or anything for that matter.
Signed as a review for the game that doesn't give a fuck about what your feelings are.
Love Your Curing Depression and Anger Issues ;)
I have only played for 10.4 hours, in these hours i have found 7 stages of grief instead of the usual 5 there is. I have screamed my head off, i have gotten so angry I become unapproachable for the next 3 hours. I have bawled my eyes out for 2 hours after playing, the only time i have reached the acceptance stage of grief is when i fell all the way back down to the beginning and had lost all hope. I have been stuck at the snowball part for the past 7 hours, yes it only took me a surprising 3 hours to get to that part, yet i can only make it just barely to the snowman, the anvil jump is the one i get the most stuck on. Overall, i have raged, cried, lost all hope in myself and nearly reached the breaking point of throwing my monitor out the window. I highly recommend buying this game for yourself.
Very worth it. Doesn't induce rage at all very smooth mechanics that aren't delayed or goofy. The narrator helps calm you down a lot for sure.
Truly a great game, one of a kind experience. The satisfaction of overcoming each challenge is worth all the frustration and pain preceding it, and the climb really takes on a whole different meaning as you get higher and start getting really familiar with the climb and the creator's intents. Each obstacle and section has its own personality as well, making each step forward feel like its own achievement. Didn't expect to like it as much when going back to it after years of absence to finish it, big recommend !
Unironically one of my favorite games. Bennett has produced something special and shown that one can distill the essence of video games to a philosophical exercise reminiscent of daily life in a lot of aspects. It's a beautiful piece of art that you either work through or you don't. You either learn something new about yourself, or you don't. You either work through the struggle, or you give up.
A lot of tough games are tough for bad reasons, but this one is tough for good reasons.
This game was so infuriating at the start. Once you get through it and never give up it is so much better. 10/10
I'm about to say something obvious: This game is fucking hard.
Do not go into this game thinking its going to be smooth sailing, expect to fall over and over and over again, but don't stop. Keep going. That's what this game is about, and it is so worth it in the end.
10/10.
the game is actually fun, *if* you can learn from mistakes on what to do, otherwise you'll suffer
also funny slipper-butter controls will make you want to throw your chair like Markiplier*.

This game is very good fun, if you give it time. When you first start playing, you will find it difficult to progress and will often fall back down to the start. This can be demotivating and may make you want to quit, but if you stick with the game and don't give up, you will see how beautifully crafted this game is
i hate this game so much, so much time spent on climbing a mountain with a hammer, the time i spent here i will never get back and im so mad about that. Anyways, good game and all
You just have to commit and you be done with getting over it
Recommend adjusting the mouse sens slider in game. You should be able to "feel" the hammer and not just spin in circle.
You have to play it, and you have to beat it at least once. There's nothing else to it. If you don't finish this game at least once you haven't lived. After 6 years of trying, I have officially lived. Screw you Bennet Foddy, I love you.
the physics are really buggy, like when i would launch up my hammer would launch me into the sun, like i acidentaly beat the game from the weird launch bug
The game itself is fun , but be warned I was unable to play this because it requires you to move your mouse in a way that causes intense wrist pain. And unfortunately I don't think this can be separated from the mechanics of the game because there's not much else except extremely rapid mouse movements.
Only reason I would ever find to try and beat this game is if the narrator was at the end of the journey and I got to use my hammer to beat his skull in.
for those who enjoy struggle with complements and a game that takes ages
Actually one of the most fun games I've played in a while.
The thing is, people go into this with the completely wrong mindset. Yes, it will be difficult
Yes, you will fail,
Yes, it will take a long time
Yes, there is a lot to learn
BUT
You will actually get better over time. My first playthrough took 15 hours, second took 45 minutes. Keep going, you will get further than you will have imagined so.
8/10, Steam Workshop support should be included.
As it stands right now, I’ve beaten this game 10 or more times, and each time I beat it, I love it even more. If you’re looking for one time rage game, then this one works, but the replay value is very high once you’ve gotten your first win. Not only is this game fun, but it’s very philosophical, and tests the willpower and patience of those who play it.
I love this game, the hate around it is the hate and negativity it causes, I have never raged going up the mountain cause the game is about trial and error and thats the art of getting over it.
Accidentally one of the most enlightening games humanity has ever invented. Play this long enough to get frustrated. Then watch the world-record speedrun, to understand that any progress this game takes from you can be regained in under a minute. Let it sink in just how illusory and inflated the loss behind the frustration was - the entire mountain can be beaten faster than you can read this text. With that in mind, realize how much more effective and quick you could've been if you approached this game like an invulnerable infant would approach learning to run. So flail wildly, fling yourself recklessly, play with quick movements no matter where they take you, because now you know the fastest way up the mountain is to get over your fear of falling back down.
You get better and better at it, the pain of the first few tries is so worth it.
I don't wanna spoil too much but there's something about this game that I can't quite explain well that just makes it worth playing and beating all the way through.
Love this game. I've beaten it just a few times already but if you're wanting to try it out, the best tip I can give is to have constant control over your movements. Every swing needs to be deliberate. Have fun :3
A while ago when i first beat this game it felt as if i had overcome a huge obstacle and it really left me wanting more. despite the pain and suffering it brings you in the end the feeling you get is so worth it. For me its one of those games I wish I could play for the first time again and the reason I say this is because it is much easier to beat after your first play through. If your considering buying the game do it its well worth it.
and people still say that a human without legs can't do anything.
This man got to the top of the mountain without any transport, what?
It's a journey that u won't forget. It's really worth it, don't search any speedruns before playing the game💀
I have PTSD now.
Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy, is a game I would recommend to others. I think nothing can capture the feeling quite like the original Foddian game.
this game is the best when depresed the encouragment helps so much as when depressed you are to tired to hate or get mad and lets you be alone with your thoughts with a simple task
Bro i changed 5 keyboards since I started to play this game and it is not like you just leave it no no no because it makes you addicted to it and you just rage quit and then erter again
how to enjoy getting over it
1.buy the game
2,fall down
3.uninstall and realize you lost money
4,get over it
There is not a lot that can be said about this game. Sometimes it makes you feel like you should give up, Sometimes it makes you absolutely hate the game, Sometimes the game is too much for you. I don't usually write reviews for games but this game should be termed as a masterpiece for its honest difficulty and its incredible satisfaction. If you ever reach the end of getting over it, especially on the first time, there is no better feeling than knowing you made it to the top, no matter what obstacle was put in your path. This is what modern games should be like and for that I applaud you, Bennett Foddy. There is no game that teaches a better lesson than this one.
EZ game, a story about punishment and reflection
Strongly recommend for masochism
