Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy - это карательная игра в скалолазание, дань уважения классическому «Sexy Hiking» 2002 года в стиле Jazzuo.

You ever make a mistake in a game and blame the game, but it's really your fault? Well this time you're right, it's the game's fault.
I have played this game a lot. I've beaten it 475 times and I can say its a very simple yet complex game. It originally took me 12 hours to beat my first run and now i average 3 minutes to beat the game. The game feels like the hardest game you've ever played the first time around but once you beat it once the entire game becomes so much easier. I genuinly reccomend beating this rage inducing silly game at least once. i enjoy speedrunning it so much i did it hundreds of times
I definitely recommend the game to people looking for a reason to smash their laptop into a thousand pieces
It took me 6 years to beat this game. I would pick it up, play for a few hours over the course of a few days, on and off, and would typically leave me frustrated. I'd blame the controls, blame myself, but I always improved. My first run took 18 hours to beat. Now I can do it in under five minutes. I've learned a great deal of patience from that.
Took a while but I finally got over it. This game is a challenge to the human psyche. While it is a rough experience that cost me years off my life, I have overcome it. I have ascended beyond human emotion after reaching the peak. I am now one with the mountain. I am Bennett Foddy.
After playing for a whole hour i have made this specific careful observation. I am losing my sanity climbing up a mountain, only to end up at the bottom. Again, again and of course AGAIN, this game blends rage and philosophical thought making you wonder the cesspit of terrible triple A games and why they exist? But this game it is a blend of art and anger unbounding the chains that restrains the player. To a measly weak and pathetic group of games. Where are these indie games that are so good yet so rare?
This f*cking piece of junk-ass game is the worst f*cking game ever. "Getting Over It" is not a game—it's a psychological torture device disguised as an indie art project. This sh*t made me break my monitor three f*cking times. THREE. I’m typing this on a replacement keyboard because the last one was murdered by a flying coffee mug during my fourth fall back to the f*cking beginning. Not to mention, my PC’s fans were screaming like they were being exorcised, overheating so bad it could've cooked a godd*mn steak on the GPU.
This game made me so loud, my parents thought I was possessed. They packed my bags and drove me to an adoption center like I was some kind of demonic foster project gone wrong. Do you know what it feels like to be disowned because a man in a pot couldn’t climb a mountain with a f*cking hammer? I do.
And Bennett Foddy? That calm-ass narrator with his smug, philosophical bullsh*t quotes while I’m spiraling into a black hole of pure f*cking rage? F*ck that guy. No one needs a voiceover quoting Nietzsche when they just lost 45 minutes of progress because their mouse had a slight hiccup.
You think you’re making progress, right? You hit the tree, passed the garbage can, launched yourself over the house, and you're like, "Maybe I can do this." Then BAM—you overshoot the slide by 2 pixels, and now you’re in a pit so deep it might as well be Hell itself. It’s not just a fall. It’s a soul-crushing, reality-shattering descent that takes your will to live and tosses it off the f*cking cliff along with your self-esteem.
I screamed so loud during one fall that the neighbors knocked on the door to check if I was dying. I was, Brenda. I was dying inside. Every time I think I’ve gotten better, that maybe I’ve mastered the controls—NOPE, the game hits me with a "f*ck you" swing that launches me from near the top all the way back to the f*cking tree at the very beginning like it's some kind of sick joke.
And don't get me started on that f*cking anvil section. Whoever thought "Hey, let’s make a pointy piece of sh*t cliff with nothing but slippery rocks and hope" should be jailed. In a pot. With a hammer. Forever.
This isn’t just a game. It’s an emotional purging ritual. It's like Bennett Foddy looked at the concept of hope and said, "Let’s make a game that sh*ts directly on that."
F*ck this game. F*ck the pot. F*ck the hammer. F*ck the mountain. And f*ck whoever decided that mouse-only controls were a good idea for platforming.
Anyway. I’ll probably play it again tomorrow
fun mod communtiy but difficult but also fun
I loved this game… and also broke a screen and a mouse. 😅
Getting Over It is a unique experience: frustrating, unforgiving, but strangely satisfying. If you enjoy extreme challenges, humiliating falls, and existential crises at 3AM, this game is for you.
I definitely recommend it – just know what you're getting into. It’s rage-inducing, but it also teaches patience (and maybe anger management 😂).
Good luck to anyone brave enough to climb!
Only rage quit two times. Very enjoyable game. The feeling of reaching the top is quite incredible. The feeling of falling to the bottom is not.
obviously rage inducing, but its rewarding and fun
This game is life, pain is life, pain is frustration, pain is this game, pain is you.
This is a rage game so it's certainly not for everyone but if you're ok with rage games then it's a pretty good one. Like most platformer rage games you take control of a character who is very hard to control and your end goal is to climb to the top of the mountain. Failing never will kill you but you will lose progress.
this game is awful. its so washed and bennet thinks hes sigma but hes not him he thought he cooked with this one but this game is washed as hell and not fun to play its very boring and i dont recommend it
this was possibly the most annoying 20 minutes of my life its one thing to watch someone play this game but it is a completely different thing experiencing it for myself your going to have to experience it for yourself like i did so yes i recommend this game solely based on the fact someone else has to go through what i did after only playing 20 minutes so far
i just played this game 50 times and I don't wanna hear crap from anybody until they do the same
this game is fun and also a rage game. even do it makes you angry because you fall its still fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahhh, just when you think you made it to a spot where you can't get "Reset".
Humbling game. Frustrating game.
You will learn life lessons here.
i am a pro in this game i speed through it but im afraid of heights so i vomit myself multiple times while playing ! really fun minus the puke
I was an anxious kid with a grey matter starved brain listening to A Moon Shaped Pool and Israel Kamakawiwo'ole just to keep from feeling numb for another second. So, needless to say i greatly appreciated the introduction of masochism into my psyche by this neat little game. 10/10
this is truly a game of our time. bennett foddy uses his game as a medium to share his takes on philosophy and post-modern culture (which are honestly based as hell). gameplay-wise, it pioneered the "foddian" genre. many more have tried to capture its magic, but most fall short of this game's brilliance.
you won't love it at first. in fact, you'll probably want to kill yourself. but if you stick it through, you'll never forget it.
i would call this game a spiritual experience. when you get the top, it'll be because you earned it. and wow, will you feel that you've earned it.
watch the trailer first, and play with all the sounds turned on. it's the intended experience, after all.
oh, and bring a mouse. i 100%'ed this game with a trackpad, and it was torture, in the best way :3
This is one of the first game and probably my favourite game of all time. No game on planet Earth has the ability to allow me to understand about myself, my emotions, and my will as so vividly as this game. No game to my knowledge has such tremendous ability to fully yet effectively exploit the darkest and ugliest of human emotions, break off their masks of morality, strip of their costumes of formality, expose the very weakness of their mind, and challenge the limit of their composure. I know there are people out there that hate this game, but not me. To me, this game is a psychological and philosophical masterpiece.
amazing. truly challenged me. i got sad at the end when Bennett Foddy said he would just shut up. don't shut up Bennett Foddy i vrey much enjoyed your yapping.
It's been so long since I beat this game, so I'll say that this game is super easy and everyone should play it for fun
After 7.6 hours and 50 completions of the game while hearing that sexy hiking is trash and that bennet copied it i am finally free, love you bennet
Here's my review of this game, Firstly once you play this game you will endure large amount of physiological torture and will suffer tons of dollars in debt from the destruction this game will cause to your house and mind, secondly DON'T ,PLAY IT. Thirdly play it if you wanna suffer a seizure
First I raged, then I won, then I just kept on beating it to shove my wins in Bennett Foddy's face. He wanted people to play this game to struggle and talk about culture and blah blah blah. I played this game to spite him. That is why I enjoyed it.
fun game hard asf the furthest ive made it is to the ice circles and then the bucket i fell for the snake trick
Do you want to feel never ending frustration but don't want to waste your time on a bad game made by a AAA studio? Then Getting Over it is for you! This game is essentially harder than Cuphead yet still enjoyable to play!
Rage/10
Okay, Getting Over It… who in their right mind thought this was a good idea?? This game is the definition of pure unfiltered torture, and if you’ve ever wondered what it feels like to have your soul slowly drained out of your body, then congratulations, this game is your answer.
First of all, the controls? Bro, it's like trying to make a spaghetti noodle do the cha-cha. You’re controlling some guy with a hammer, and you move with a mouse like some kind of possessed wrecking ball. Every time you try to make a decent move, the game decides to punish you by sending you back to the beginning. You literally cannot make any progress without the game constantly reminding you that you suck. How is this fun??
Then there’s the level design, which feels like the devs were actively trying to break you mentally. You climb and climb, feeling like you're finally making it, and then—WHOOSH, bam, you're back to the bottom. It’s the digital equivalent of running a marathon only to be told “Nah, just kidding, start over.” There are no rewards for getting better at the game, no checkpoints, nothing. You just fall and fall, over and over again, like the game is just laughing at you.
And don’t even get me started on the narrator. His smug “philosophical” commentary is the worst part of the whole experience. Every time I fall, he’s there like “oh, failure is part of the process, don’t worry!” NO, I AM NOT FINE, I’VE FALLEN FOR THE 13TH TIME AND I’M ABOUT TO LOSE MY MIND. If you wanted a game where you’re constantly reminded how bad you are at something, this is your dream. It’s like someone looked at Dark Souls and thought, “You know what would be even worse? Let’s take that and make it intentionally aggravating.”
Honestly, I’m not even sure why this game exists. It’s not fun, it’s not satisfying, it’s just pure frustration in its rawest form. The whole time I was playing, I kept thinking, “I could be doing literally ANYTHING else right now that would be more enjoyable.” So, take my advice and do not play this game. It will ruin your day, it will ruin your mood, and you’ll find yourself questioning your entire existence. If you value your mental health at all, steer clear of this dumpster fire.
if you find yourself finishing this game more than once just why dude there's better things to do with your time in saying that someone pls help ive now completed this game 63 times.
Honestly a great game, I just wish it would come with the hammer so I can throw it at my monitor.
This game is an absolute work of art. If you're able to beat this game, then you share many things in common with others who have climbed. The way that you can form a sense of community with people you've never even talked to is incredible, not to mention the genius commentary throughout your climb. I've played many games that claim to be adventurous, but few can live up to that title. This game truly is an adventure.
This game is not for you, unless you take it for what it is. It's a mountain, un-movable, un-avare.
Also, it doesnt work on Linux, so i recommend boot up windows and finish it there (advancements othervise dont work)
I used to laugh at Mark for raging and now that I've actually tried it, I owe him an apology.
This game has some of the most bullshit mechanics I've ever seen. The hammer angel control automatically resets after you move it, which results in your character doing random movements you don't want him to do. I also found the area just after the first section very infuriating because the hitboxes on the rocks are extremely slippery and it's almost impossible to get consistent at. There are random areas that are very easy to choke and are much harder than anything around them. This is just a shitty rage game made to torture the player, thank god I bought this while it was on sale, because if I spent 7 dollars on this crap I would have never forgiven myself.
Do not play this game. It is purposefully unfair and buggy, and Bennet Foddy is clearly a psychopath who should probably be locked away from society. FUCK THIS GAME.
Now you might be wondering why would someone ever spend more than hour in a rage game like Getting Over It? At first I had that same question but I soon realized people don't care about the funny lookin cauldron man they care about Bennett. Some people may hate him but other love him, he's like your dad in the game. I couldn't stop playing once I heard his irresistible voice. Somedays I would open the game to hear Bennett's silky smooth voice tell me that I almost made to the top and his truly poetic words kept me from falling off the edge. Needless to say I made it there and have no regrets, I just miss his voice.
This is a difficult game that will test your patience. However, if you stick to it (and ignore the narrator's attempts to tilt you), the game is more than worth the price of admission.
Before you buy this game, read the store page description:
"A game I made for a certain kind of person, to hurt them."
Okay. Now read it again. I want to be perfectly clear: this was made by a sadist, for masochists. Unless you are a masochist, or you think it would be funny to have Mr. Foddy torment you for a while (perhaps if you're playing it for an audience), you shouldn't pick the game up. It will hurt you.
That said, I have a lot of respect for what went into it. Getting Over It is a masterpiece in its own way. It can be immensely frustrating, but sometimes that's what you need: to chip away at an extraordinarily difficult obstacle and eventually work past it, or come to terms with failure. It's in the name, after all.
It is bit difficult but when you know how to do it. This is very fun and interesting try once your money will not get wasted but Bennett Foddy is behen ka loda by carryminati
i pray on this mans downfall
Otherwise this game is very niceing. I like the soundtrack.
However for your own sanity I urge you to stay as far away from this THING as possible. Just as Mark said... if you use this game to torture the worst of your enemies, you would be seen as cruel, a monster perhaps.
Bought this game for 0.6$ worst investment in my life
Had to buy new monitor and keyboard
Another banger that I was forced to play for hours and hours on end, fun experience I must say. On my way currently to get the last achievement, not as hard as one might think. I do have to say tho, spending more than 20 minutes on this game will make your blood boil
Good luck :)
It accomplishes its job, and Is sorta fun, but is better on a video. I would not say that is a good, difficult.
pretty fun and easy game, buy this if you want a casual and calming experience.
Play this game only if you are a masochist. I have discovered I am one of those people after 100 percenting the game. 8/10 would recommend
Alright, let's talk about Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy!
Getting Over It – Climb That Mountain!
Imagine trying to climb a really tall mountain, but you're stuck in a pot and you can only use a hammer! That's Getting Over It! It's a game that's really hard, but also really funny (and sometimes frustrating!).
What You Do:
Move with a Hammer: You use a hammer to swing yourself around and try to climb up the mountain.
Try Not to Fall: It's really easy to fall, and when you do, you go all the way back down!
Listen to Bennett Foddy: The game's creator talks to you while you play, and he says some really funny (and sometimes deep) things.
How it Runs:
Getting Over It isn't a game with fancy graphics, so it runs on almost any computer. It's a simple game, so you don't need a super-powerful machine.
What's Fun (and Frustrating) About It:
It's really fun to try and figure out how to climb, even though it's super hard. It's also funny to hear what Bennett Foddy says. But, be warned, it can be very frustrating when you fall!
Conclusion:
If you like games that are a challenge, and if you don't mind getting a little frustrated, Getting Over It is a really unique and interesting game. Just remember to take breaks!
I don't understand the praise for this game. The creator goes on to explain the philosophical justification for creating janky media that traumatized a generation of gamers. Looking at the gameplay of Sexy Hiking, this game is meant as a homage to it but also takes notes of players like Foddy's rage and emotional turmoils in a semi-3d setting. This game isn't meant for everyone. This game isn't even meant for you, reader. If you're already reading through reviews to justify why you want to play this, then don't. This is for the naive, those who don't understand that having limitations is a good thing. Anger shouldn't be your reason for liking a game. It's a toxic emotion when it's your main way to describe how you feel climbing the mountain and into space. As for me, I want to be happy playing a game and enjoying what it has to offer.
Hi, I've gone to the top 50 times in these 19 or so hours (and I AFK'd a lot) and I have a few words of advice:
This game at first seems daunting but then I realized one simple thing: Its all about controlling the hammer properly. The game has a lot of troll design. You are at a lot of points a lot closer to dropping to the bottom than you realize. With the clumsy controls and the map design that at a lot of points leaves very intentional holes in the ground for you to fall into there is always that risk...
BUT, it becomes a 5-10 minute challenge after you take a few tries and realize that the hammer is not as unpredictable as you first thought. You learn the tricks, the pogo jumps, the catapult style climbing, and taking the snake is actually no big deal since you'll be up there in no time. Take a good while trying to understand how the hammer moves and its different movements. REAL good game.
worst game ever, Not worth it.
You WILL ragequit multiple times
you WILL break several keyboards
It's not worth it.
After having just beat the game for the 50'th time, i think i am able to say that this game is absolutely fantastic.
This is a philosophical game about climbing, more specifically the emotional process of climbing. Reaching new heights, falling back down, trying again and again, learning every step of the way.
You could go into this game, taking every fall as a loss and proceed to get upset. But i think it's much better to take every fall as a lesson. And also a gift, a gift that lets you get even better. A gift that lets you master your craft. All the while Bennett Foddy guides you along your journey, discussing game design topics, and the current state of internet culture.
Play the game, if you are prepared to face a very challenging, but also rewarding task.
