I would recommend this game to others because it's a fun but challenging game it was lots of fun getting all the achievements and 300% the game very good game
this game is the best ive been watching the game for years now and when i had a chance i bought it last 2 months and let me tell you its hard yet so rewarding, but if you easily give up i dont recommend this, you must be passionate to beat the levels
One random great thing worth mentioning: The transitioning to get into and out of levels and overworld are actually doing a lot to sell everything going on. Vinyl cracks during silence, the circle cut in, the announcer and the way the world theme kicks in, many underrated things all around the action of the level or boss itself.
One random bad thing: King Dice sub-boss, the one with the poker chips. I think I hate it because I had to learn it so much rather than it being the hardest.
Remove the Run n Gun levels and this game would be my 2017 GotY.
Amazing game, funny, well thought out, and overall very fun. Can get annoying from the difficulty so remember to take breaks for you own sanity.
Goated music, Goated mechanics. Goated everything, would recommend
i honestly don't know what it is but something just keeps bringing me back to this wonderful game. Yes it is difficult, but that's why i wanna keep trying & i just can't stop thinking about playing it whenever i get home. So yes i recommend that you play this game.
played, raged, cried, died, finished. fun to keep yourself awake at night.
You are a b*tch if you dont play the came cuz its too hard, first its not hard second its awsome.
This game is honestly a must play for everyone. It has a unique beautiful artstyle, great mechanics, great soundtrack in short great everything. This game will definetly kick your butt, but i'd say its 100% worth it. Everytime I died, I always knew what I could do better next time, which pushed me to keep going. I love this game for just beeing unique. There is nothing really like this. And the cost for all this is so low, it almost makes the game look cheap, which it really isnt.
Cuphead really hit the mark for me, so im pretty sure it will also do for you.
Difficulty is very well tuned on regular. Graphics are well done in terms of style. Felt like watching an old cartoon while playing.
Only problem I can see is sometimes foreground decor might be too much so I can't see my character or an enemy performing an attack from certain angles.
This game is a work of art. The graphic style and quality, the music, audio, level design, game balance, everything is perfect; you can really feel the passion put into this project by everyone involved. Some levels are pretty hard, but also so addictive, you'll never grow tired of trying again and again to finally succeed. I'm really looking forward and hoping for a sequel. Hearty congratulations to the developing team!
so the game is hard as fuck but if you'r good at doging its the best game ever made i leik it
Cuphead is a very fun and challenging game. Great gameplay mechanics and fair controls. It focuses on skill rather than luck, and it is therfore very satisfying when you finally defeat that boss. The art style looks amazing and compliments the tone of the game and story really well.
An astonishingly well-made game! The artwork is unique, the music is great and the gameplay is awesome!
20$ is well justified for its price. The game's not so easy, though. Requires skill and patience to do so well. Can be quite rage-inducing as well. Nonetheless, phenomenal game!
This has got to be one of my favorite games of all time! The art style of this game has got to be the best I have ever seen! Such tender love and care went into this game and game developers should take example of the sheer will and determination of Studio MDHR as a whole!
The DLC is also highly recommend for even more fun with such a gem of a game!
While far from anything unusual or new (this is basically a boss-focused Contra / Mega Man clone, and it also has nothing to do with Dark Souls whatsoever), Cuphead still deserves credit for introducing the joys of NES-era gaming to a new generation of players.
The lush and colorful art style based on the old American cartoons probably needs no extra praise, but apart from that it is indeed a NES game through and through, dedicated to replicating the experience as a whole rather than cherry-picking only user-friendly mechanics.
With 3 HP, no checkpoints between boss stages, restricted shooting angles, and screen-filling enemy attacks that may or may not get barely dodgeable due to RNG, you might feel artificially limited rather than fairly challenged at times, but you’re also likely to feel satisfied and rewarded after every victory, or come back later to find how the practice paid off and it’s become so much easier. You might discover more control than the "git gud" formula initially suggests, too, with a collection of helpful charms and a varied selection of weapons that can cut down the difficulty in half when used right.
It's also a very gameplay-focused title that keeps cutscenes, conversations or pretty much any other interruptions to the bare minimum, just like it was during the NES days. The story is simple but concise and always on point, plus there are some charming NPC chats happening at the overworld map, yet every other minute is dedicated solely to pressing buttons. This makes it a very engaging, "raw" game, but also a very limited game in terms of worldbuilding or the characters.
The latter is particularly noticeable with the majority of bosses, who, despite being beautifully drawn and animated, possess no personalities and appear very detached from the world. Even Mega Man robot masters felt more integrated into the game, since they had stages designed after them and left you their personal weapons. These guys just appear out of nowhere with zero introduction and then disappear into nothing again once you beat them.
The only way the bosses try to show any character is by saying a unique line whenever you die; a sort of extra opportunity to roast the heroes for losing, which could’ve been a cool little touch if it wasn’t so forced. Really, I’m all for lame puns and silly dad jokes, but 90% of these are just plain unfunny, and half of those presented as rhymes don’t even rhyme properly. It seems like the developers decided they needed one quip per boss stage and then proceeded to squeeze it out despite the lack of writing experience. Or maybe they were trying to imitate the inspiration sources and their less-than-subtle type of humor, but I’d argue those old cartoons were still a level above in terms of jokes’ quality.
Even so, these are minor complaints compared to the exhilarating moments that Cuphead’s tight and challenging gameplay can deliver. Some levels can get really chaotic and overwhelming (especially in the DLC), but in retrospect this is also what makes them memorable. If you’re interested in a thoroughly old-school experience under a new coat of visuals or just want to familiarize yourself with another seminal indie release, this title is a worth a play.
Cuphead is red,
Mugman is blue.
This game’s rhyming sucks,
But I can still recommend it to you.
A very fun game with insane difficulty. I recommend if you can stick with it.
Great game for those who love a challenge. this game changed gaming and platforming to another level and the art is just outstanding
just get gud and its fun when you get humbled by expert mode chef salt baker. phantom express best boss theme
I won't recommend the game for its combat mechanics. It's more a bullet hell where you just hold the attack button indefinitely while avoiding enemy projectiles. That said, learning the enemy's moveset is an enjoyable experience in and of itself - if that's your thing. Also it has parries so that's easy bonus points.
One of my favorite games of all time so I finally decided to get it on PC for the first time and 300% it for what is most likely the 12th time or more I have done this. Thank you MDHR for making such a fun game to play and speedrun to its fullest!
its fun, the animation style, the gameplau, everything is good. it does get a bit frustrating but still good
VERY good soundtrack and gameplay. The controls on keyboard aren't super optimized, and you can't bind any input to mouse. Still very good, and you can use Parsec to play 2 player non-locally
It is a really fun game with the perfect difficulty, not too hard, but hard enough to be fun and difficult.
Just finished it with 300%
Can only recommend it, its about the greatest 2d game ever and the design is impecable. It does sometimes get on your nerves but in total its awesome.
gameplay is great, especially if you like boss centric and souls like games. art style is amazing and unique when it comes to games. music is godly, some of the best jazz ive ever heard.
Be ready to spend many hours for each encounter. Probably one of the most difficult games I've ever played. Play with a friend who can revive you if you make 3 mistakes. Overall pretty fun though.
This is the best game I've ever played! Packed with amazing action and adventure, aswell as its advanced combat and nostalgic feeling. This game is for all ages, so everyone can play this wonderful game. I'd recommend this to everyone. I've only played for 3 hours and I'm already addicted. And, it's also a great game to watch, so it's a good game for streamers.
A fun game that takes skill and is very addicting
Warning - This Game is Truly a fountain of indie titles I have ever played.
Cuphead is not for everyone. If you're looking for a relaxing and easy game, this is not it. However, if you're a fan of challenging games and appreciate beautiful animation, Cuphead is definitely worth checking out. Just be prepared to die... a lot.
While the visuals are certainly a highlight, Cuphead is also a mechanically sound game. The controls are tight and responsive, and the variety of weapons and special abilities keep the gameplay fresh. The game also features a great soundtrack that perfectly complements the visuals and gameplay.
The first thing that strikes you about Cuphead is its stunning animation. The game is hand-drawn in a style reminiscent of old cartoons, with vibrant colors, fluid movement, and expressive characters. Every frame is a work of art, and the attention to detail is simply breathtaking. It was completely an unforgettable experience with this game! I would suggest you to check this one out .
platformer shootemup, truly perfection. very very difficult though so be careful.
Pretty fun, cool animation. I got mad when playing it because I am bad. Don't suck and you'll have a great time
its the best game in the world. you get to defeat bosses and also go on a magical adventure whilst trying to stay alive. yeah sure the game might be a bit hard but it is super fun and would 100% recommend it for everyone. it is a really amazing game and very fun 10/10 would play all the time if i could.
Most difficult game I've ever played. Really cool art and good gameplay tho.
i liked the game its sop fun and i will spend hours in playing it and the cool thing its too hard
Absolutely the best game I have ever played.
there are many reasons why i like cuphead.
1. you can run it on a trashy laptop
2. great graphics
3. its a fun challenging game
4. you can play it without wi-fi
BONUS I would also recommend buying the Delicious Last Course (DLC) it adds a little bit more storyline and its fun (Ms. Chalice)

Great game with even greater graphics. It can get demoralizing when you die to a boss at the exact same spot over and over again though...
What an incredible game! ★★★★★
I'm about to finish it on expert mode (300% with S&P Ranks) and I wouldn't have imagined having as much fun as I did playing it. I absolutely adore the level of challenge, the artstyle, the music, the boss design; everything about this game is great.
I would totally recommend it for anyone that is not afraid of difficulty. If you like challenges, you'll have a blast! and the best part about it is that you can always go for harder challenges; the game has a lot of replayability value (simple mode, regular mode, expert mode, S&P ranks, Peashooter only, speedrunning, etc.).
Bonus: You can play it with a friend or a partner!
Amazing hand drawn old school over the top animation.
Great old time music & SFX to go with the animation
Joystick smashing hard on Normal to the point of insanity.
Patience and persistence plus pattern recognition is a must.
Spectators love to watch the torture "FUN"
Obviously quite difficult but it is a genuinely fun game that's so much better with a friend.
The game may be hard, but it is totally worth it buying. Especially the DLC which is very well done.
This game is worth it, to fully 300% the game (200% on main game and 100% on DLC) it makes the play length worth the price of the game. There are many fun bosses. Although there are many bugs that are not fixed to this day even though the game has been out for 7 years as well as the DLC being out for 2 years there are still annoying bugs. For example today one happened to me where my game just randomly froze in the middle of playing the Werner Werman boss in the second phase. Totally ruined my good S rank run and pissed me off. Another bug off the top of my head is how a bit of the audio of the game still plays after clicking restart in the pause menu of a boss and/or run and gun. It's also for some reason louder than it is supposed to be. It's just annoying to hear after I already am mad and want to restart the boss. One last thing I want to say is the problem with a ton of bosses but mostly on expert difficulty is that there is a ton of RNG involved in getting S rank or just beating a boss on expert because you can sometimes get put into impossible situations. This is the problem with this game there is too much rng. If you want a game without rng involved that has more bosses as well as better ones play hollow knight. During the rugged ridge run and gun the dragons at the moving down platform not spewing 3 parry fires which causes you to miss your parry count cause it's the only parriable things in the level. That's all I have to say about this game. It's worth it but it definitely has it's flaws.
This is a hard but its fun as well its a very fun game its got some hard bosses and very challenging for new players.
I played this game countless times on other platforms and i couldn't avoid playing it all again on Steam, Cuphead is absolutely a near-perfect game, most people are aware of it's positives already, like the music and art. But it's gameplay is also very good and fair, bosses have a hidden HP bar, when you hit them and they "blink" it means they're taking damage, and most bosses allow you to hit them through all phases of a fight, even when they're in the middle of an animation, this means that the game rewards agressive gameplay quite a lot, and if you do enough damage you can shorten or almost skip entire phases of some bosses, the game doesn't throttle you down or do cheap tricks to make it harder than it needs to be, you'll get better with attention and practice, even if at the start you feel like you can't understand everything that's happening on the screen.
I recommend Cuphead to anyone that likes challenging games and boss-focused games, it's a one of a kind game that i hope one day gets a sequel.
I love the art in this game. If you watch a ~2 minute video you get the idea of what you're in for and if you'd like it. The gameplay is simple but the bosses are unique and appropriately challenging. A great 2 player co-op game.
tremendo juego ez, ya lo platine 2 veces, 1 en ps4 y otro aquí, y el 300% x2 y 200% en los 3 mundos
Cuphead is mostly a hardcore boss rush game with some platforming levels in between, which reminds me of Contra. Co-op would typically make the game feel even harder because of how chaotic it could get. The art style is amazing and is a big selling point of the game. It feels like Disney pictures from the old days.
However, the difficulty is too high for my liking and the film grain effects cannot be turned off. Fortunately, mods that provide assist modes and accessibility options can be found online, which make the gameplay experience much better.
TL;DR: 3/10. I'll update the review once I get past the jump-dash tutorial boss.
The game is such a rare gem. The art style is gorgeous, the controls are tight and responsive, the gameplay is top notch, and the soundtrack is on par with if not better than the art style. The game just oozes with charm.
The game loop is simple (in a good way, imo). It's a boss rush with airplane bullethell-esque levels and run n gun areas to change the pace.
The game offers a nice variety of weapons and abilities, a great variety of bosses (31 bosses, all of which are absolutely unique), a clear and fair scoring system, and 3 difficulty settings. This keeps the game feeling fresh for long after finishing, but I don't think there's enough variety for people who don't already like the game with the default powers/abilities to find a style that suits them; I think it's a you love it or hate it kind of game.
The only minor criticism I have is with some RNG elements. Though super rare, sometimes an attack feels unfair; like there was no way to avoid it, but it happens too rarely to really be a problem.
