This has gotta be the best way to Space Invaders out there. Infinity Gene on Xbox is great as well, but damn, did I have a rough time playing through it.
I mean, the classic gameplay mixed with the music, rhythmic flow of the sounds, the power-ups, bonus rounds, fever, bosses... just YES.
Great first impression from the first two stages, leaves me wanting more every time I grind the 5-stage run.
You'll most likely get more value for money on a sale, but this game is fun stuff alright, regardless of the price you pay for it.
Steam Deck Compatibility
Don't be surprised if it works, but you might wanna avoid playing this otherwise excellent twist on the arcade classic on your Steam Deck or any of its competitors because of Taito's ridiculous decision to implement an internet requirement only upon launch. All those machines were made for portable gaming, making that inconvenient decision age worse than milk, especially since it's also on the Nintendo Switch and playable offline there. Just play it on Switch instead through the Invincible Collection.
So much fun, it's like eating candy for the very first time as a kid.

The game has a very amazing OST! And is basicly a constant storm of dopamine with all of the flashing colors and effects. The laser, broad, and bomb powerups are all fun to use.
The game may seem easy at first but it gets pretty challenging at around stage 3-4. You will also be tested during the bonus stages (when shooting down the rainbow UFOs.)
The bosses are very creative and can be quite challenging.
A once offline game is now online-only, and talk about no multiplayer modes on this one compared to the original 2008 version on PSP (Local VS Mode), Nintendo DS (Online/Local VS Mode) and Xbox 360 (Online/Local Co-Op and Online/Local VS Modes).
I will admit it's nice to hear the original Nintendo DS Zuntata tracks in HD, the new tracks in Stages 5-B and 5-C are rather welcome, I just wish there was an option to switch these two stages in particular back to their original DS tracks but this time in HD as well.
I remember playing this on the go and being a time burner while on the road on my DS. Sadly playing on the steam deck with this game's always-online requirement bars you from doing so, unless you have mobile data with you.
For Space Invaders' 40th anniversary game, this is rather sad.
the best space invaders
It’s a real shame that such a great game requires to be online to play it. It looked like a perfect match for the Steam Deck but this nonsense requirement makes it a lot less compelling.
not as good as 2, everything blends in and feels the same. many confusing and unexplained mechanics. just play 2 on ds.
