I played this fabulous puzzle game way back when it was still called Netshift in 2010, there was a downloadable Blackshift back then as well, but very different in design back. I loved it and we used to make levels with other players, and cooperate together in making levels, it was a challenge to make it very difficult and beat each other. On the site of the developer one can still have a tiny sneakpeak (although not playable) on all those Netshift levels, fun to see my name there too, although I was called Domna back then. Nevertheless we are now 15 years later and it is still an amazing puzzle game, it changed in design but oh well it is still challenging and fun. And one thing, don't give up too quick, play through the tutorial levels and proceed to make your own,
A great Chip's Challenge-like (but holds up). Kind of what you want a game like that (grid-based puzzle game with tools that you pick up) to actually to be (in terms of design/difficulty/etc) to a puzzle game liker. There are a decent amount of secrets, too, and there are QoL tools within the game that make finding them not a frustrating task.
This game is cool! there are a lot of puzzles and other staff. Sometimes lagging a bit and crash the game, but the game itself is very good. The pits are barriers so you can't fall into it. Enemies are allowed to walk on it.
The plasma balls are difficult to found and there are a lot of locked doors.
If you love puzzles, then this is the game.
Also, pretty much keyboard actions.
I've played the original Blackshift in 2006, and this version is an enormous improvement! I love it. The puzzles are sometimes challenging, but overall quite nicely balanced. So far, I did not get stuck anywhere where a bit of thinking wouldn't have helped, and there are many rewarding aha moments. The graphics are also really good; for example, I love the special effect when going on a save point. The background music is also nice and encourages thought. Oh, and this game is still receiving updates four years after its release, which I find exemplary. One can clearly feel in this game the dedication of its author, Robin Allen. It is greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot for this experience!
Absolutely brilliant!
I used to play the first 2005 blackshift and for the longest time i couldn't remember the name. Many times I googled trying to find it, then one day I did find the original game. After playing it and enjoying myself tremendously, I found out that the creator, Robin Allen of Foon made this revamped gem.
I had so much fun playing this, feels like it was made for me. Uncountable mechanics, surprises, secrets, different ways to play. Also it was amazingly challenging sometimes.
Just thank you, this made me immensely happy. This deserves much more recognition. I wish a famous gamer would get wind of this.
All the best. Looking forward for the next games you make!
