Preface
"In 2009, a man named Samuel Harris was arrested for the death of his wife Maria. Police found the man huddled over her corpse whimpering strange inaudible words. Police records show that there was no sign of a break-in, and no further evidence was found of a third party. An open and shut case. Later that year while awaiting his trial, Samuel hung himself in his cell. Some cheered, for in their minds he was a monster, destined for Hell. Others say, due to his suicide, he will be forever tormenting in the space between Heaven and Hell; Purgatory. Either way, God have mercy on his soul!" - Father James Francis.

one of the worst horror game on steam both as gamplay and story. Do not buy this
A decent P.T. inspired game with decent graphics (Unity, I know.), a messed up story and excellent sound.
A short, and creepy experience.
*sigh* We really, really, really wanted to play PT, didn't we guys? PT will go down in history and Silent Descent won't even be a footnote under "clones". I highly recommend Visage - inspired by PT but does its own thing and is a good 10-15 hours.
For what I paid (not much) I feel like it was a decent game. A bit tedious, not my favorite game from Deceptive games but something to do for a couple hours.
Game pictures are misleading. This game is very bad with hardly anything to do and you repeat going through a few of the same rooms over and over many times with just a few things different in each. Don't play this unless its free or maybe under a $1. This game isn't one you would keep installed after playing it. Absolutely do not buy this for 8.99 that's mind blowing its listed for that price. I paid I think $3.49 on a steam sale and feel ripped off.
I enjoyed this game, yes it gets bad reviews because its very much like P.T but this is done really well, if you liked P.T you will love this, some very creepy bits in with excellent music and very good framerate, graphics are quite good too, not quite P.T but a very good crack at it - 8/10 :-)
It started decent enough, but the game crashes after room 25 every time. I would probably leave a positive review if i could finish it, but it doesn't work
A really uninspired PT rip off. They seem to miss one of the major aspects that made PT such a good game was solving the mystery as you attempted to progress through the terror. Silent Descent on the other hand tells you exactly what's happening before you even buy the game and proceed to expand on it in the opening cutscene. This makes progressing through the game rather pointless as even the story you do discover is the same old deteriorating relationship plot that seems to be a part of every single one of these games. The monster sprites are laughable and not funny at all. The only fear this game brought me was out of surprise jumpscares and the puzzles are bland with varying degrees of usable instruction. The wrap it off the main end of the game had me laughing out loud which is a bad fit for any horror game. All in all, hard pass. I find it sad so many miss what made PT so special and stick us with these uninspired horror walking sims.
This game was decent and okay until you got to the tail end of the 30s and there are levels back to back to back with non stop strobe action and that red BS around the edge of the screen. Gave me a big time headache and completely ruined any want to finish the game
For what the game is with the graphics level, I think they did a great job. A few puzzles thrown in which were not too difficult made the game more fun. Story line was good.
I have just completed the game and the game is just ok not a lot happens and you will be as the game states going around in a loop the atmosphere is good and you dont know whats going to happen next.
This game runs more like a FTP game rather than a paid product. Bad controls, crashes and bugs galore and an uninteresting and predictable story and layout. This game is basically an attempt to copy PT without doing anything right. The small puzzles in this game are more of a nuisance than a challenge and I was only slightly creeped out once in this game... ONCE?! IN A BLOODY HORROR GAME?!?!
Look elsewhere for a horror game...
so it started out ok but then it got annoying. mind you i do like walk thru / point and click games but this game got boring quick. ok as i continue playing the game i was getting to the puzzle and they werent hard which was ok with me. but theres a part in the game where u switch from the "real" world to hell; which i didnt like that u used a siren to switch world like they do in SILENT HILL. but as your switch over u get this blood all over the screen and then once you switch over the blood clears from the screen, well i was at part 40 i believe and the screen didnt clear and at the time i thought it was part of the game but it actually wasnt cuz i could barely see. so i thought this cant be part of the game so i reloaded the game. once i reloaded the game the blood on the screen cleared. in my mind i was like REALLY! then once i got futher in the game it started freezing up and crashed and so again i reloaded the game but this it froze again. NOPE! this game wasted 2 hours of my life. i dont want to reload this game if its going to crash/freeze. my question where did the mostly positive review come from. no thank you. keep your money and spend it on another game
PT clone with clumsy controls and a story we've seen a thousand times already.
Graphics and sound are good and sets the vibe perfectly. Jump scares are scarce and effective. There are a few small logical puzzles as well. These are all quite easy.. just like the entire game. Most of the time, it's: walk in, read letter, walk out, with the occasional object interaction to open the door to the next level.
UI issues: Make sure to unplug ALL your controllers, joysticks, steering wheels and what not. There's no input selection setting and it seems the game responds to every connected device. Opening doors is done by walking into them and there's no UI indication when you can interact with anything. There's also subtitles option.. which doesn't do a thing. Not really important though, since there's hardly anything worth listening to.
In the end, there's enough diversity and little things that keep the levels fresh, so thumbs up for being a cool PT clone even considering the issues mentioned above.
Final verdict: just above 'meh'.
An average steam horror game, certainly not worth anywhere near full price (>7 euro in Ireland).
There's just over an hour and a half of gameplay here, and while the atmosphere created at times is pretty good and creepy, and there are a couple of effective jumpscares, overall the game falls flat, with poor writing and a predictable ending.
It's certainly not the worst horror game on steam by a long stretch, but that doesn't mean it's worth your time or money.
Yes, it's a P.T./Silent Hill rip-off in the most blatant of ways; but it's an alarmingly good and extremely scary P.T./Silent Hill rip-off that handles the repetitive/deja vu-ish motif with absolute aplomb.
I'm honestly not going to say much more than that, beyond opining that the price is perfectly reasonable and the game well worth the time of any horror fans who aren't averse to lots of "walking" and a bit of (relatively simple, yet clever) puzzle-solving. (And a wee bit of "running" as well.) A long, long way from all those cheap-'n'-nasty indie horror games we've come to expect on Steam of late, even if the level design feels a tad rushed towards the end.
Oh, and one quick tip: a few reviewers have noted that the game kept crashing for them right at the very end. I simply exited, lowered my settings slightly, and replayed a single minute of gameplay to get back up to that point. No biggie, though it is a bit of a shame that the game suffers from such a significant technical glitch in its final moments.
Verdict: 8.5/10.

Cheers!)
Decent horror game. (See what I did there?) Atmosphere is good, story is nothing special but ok. Game gets a bit repetetive after some time, also it is very short, took me 80 minutes to finish it. At the last level I had some graphical bugs and the game freezed so I had to restart the game. Whait for a sale to get it.
It's alright.
The game does have pretty nice graphics, sound design and ambiance going for it, but I do have some complaints:
-The gam crashed both when I started a new game for the first time, and when I reached the final cutscene
-The flashing effects are neither scary nor immersive, just plain uncomfortable to sit through
-The puzzles could have been more challenging
-The ending was cheesier than a fondue
It's basically a spiritual successor to Silent Hill PT, but written with zero subtlety (since literally everything about the story is explained to you).
Still, it's worth getting on sale. At least I had a good spook at the beginning and a good chuckle at the end.
Really neat PT clone, I loved all the subtle nods to Silent Hill. The siren was fantastic, filling me with that well known dread everytime I'd hear it in SH. I also loved the loosely borrowed Needler enemy, one of SH's scarier monsters. I really do feel like this whole game was heavily inspired by Silent Hill, and that was just fine with me. If PT had been created to be it's own actual game, I think it would have resembled something like this and I really enjoyed myself. That being said, it was a little glitchy, and I needed to reload the chapter a few times in some areas to get the game to allow me to proceed. That became frustrating very quick. Story was honestly quite predictable, but still well done. You cannot play without subtitles as the voice really was just overall garbled and really hard to understand. Either way, I enjoyed myself, really. A solid 8/10.
I just wanna say, this game isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. It definitely wasn't mine.
This game was obviously heavily inspired by P.T., and it delivers well on that premise. It's beautiful and well crafted. At least at the beginning. The later levels feel uninspired and rushed. The sounds in a lot of places are incredibly low quality. What atmosphere the game has early on is quickly lost to the myriad of pixel-hunting puzzles. The story is pretty generic and unoriginal, with an ending you see coming from a long way off.
Honestly, if this game were $5, I might suggest giving it a shot if you like games like P.T., but $10 is a little too much to ask for.
P.S. I really want to say that I appreciate the amount of work that has been put into this game though. It looks like it was developed by one or two people, and for that they deserve to be lauded!
I definitely got some good scares out this, and the gameplay, compared to other games I've played in the same price range, was worth it. VERY PT inspried. I think I've gotten as far as you can get in the game, and I'd recommend it.
Pros:
-Atmosphere is unsettling
-Jumpscares are well-executed
-Puzzles are not too complicated
-Graphics look nice
Cons (more of suggestions):
-I didn't find the monsters scary after the initial exposure to them, and didn't like once they attack and chase you, you're essentially immune to them. Maybe have them kill you and put you back at the beginning of the room?
-The red covered screen at the end was more annoying than anything. It was very tough to see where I was going.
Overall, well done, and no crashes. I look forward to the finished product.
