An amazing story that just makes you wonder what the hell is going on and why it is the way it is.

Atmospheric, But Ultimately Shallow
Little Nightmares starts off with an intriguing premise and a beautifully eerie world, but it struggles to maintain its momentum. While the game’s visual design and atmosphere are undeniably impressive, the gameplay and storytelling fall short, leaving the experience feeling hollow.
The art direction is the game’s strongest aspect. The unsettling environments, grotesque character designs, and dark, oppressive tone create a world that is both creepy and captivating. The developers clearly put a lot of effort into crafting a unique aesthetic, and it’s hard not to admire the attention to detail.
However, beyond the visuals, Little Nightmares lacks substance. The gameplay is simplistic, with most of your time spent running, hiding, and solving very basic puzzles. The mechanics never evolve in a meaningful way, which makes the experience feel repetitive after the first hour or so. The stealth sections, while tense at times, often feel trial-and-error-based, leading to frustration rather than satisfaction.
The controls are another issue. The platforming feels clunky and imprecise, which is especially frustrating in sections that demand quick reflexes. Dying because of awkward mechanics rather than your own mistakes quickly drains the tension and breaks immersion.
The story is also a letdown. While the game clearly aims to be mysterious and leave much up to interpretation, it ends up feeling vague to the point of being unsatisfying. There’s little context for what’s happening or why, and the lack of any meaningful narrative progression makes it hard to stay emotionally invested. The game’s reliance on environmental storytelling is commendable, but it doesn’t do enough to fill in the blanks or make the world feel cohesive.
To make matters worse, Little Nightmares is very short, clocking in at around 3-4 hours. While there’s nothing inherently wrong with a short game, the lack of variety and depth makes it feel more like an extended tech demo than a fully realized experience. The limited replay value doesn’t help either, as there’s little incentive to revisit the game once you’ve completed it.
Overall, Little Nightmares is a game with strong visuals and atmosphere, but it’s let down by shallow gameplay, clunky controls, and a lack of narrative payoff. It’s a game that promises more than it delivers, leaving you with the sense that it could have been something truly special with more polish and depth.
I love this game, no doubt about it; From the soundtrack to the animation to the story to the design of the game. I am in love, the horror element of this game isn't severe but it's definitely tense as hell. It's an incredible puzzle, horror game and I love it so much. I've played through this game twice, and have gone back many times just to try and collect all of the little hidden achievements,
I recommend Little Nightmares to everyone, it really engages with people who're into quick thinking, puzzle and strategy with a nice dose of a horror element.

I LOVE THIS GAME SOOO MUCH! you should definitely place this and the trilogy, Little Nightmares and the three DLCs, Little Nightmares 2 and its DLC, Very Little Nightmares the mobile game, read the Little Nightmares digital and physical Comics, and Little Nightmares 3 when it comes out! I LOVE THIS GAME SERIES!!!

Just the game with all the treats in one! Horror, adventure, puzzle, looks childish yet has a great story and suspense. the DLC is a must to play and it's even harder and felt longer than the main game. Great game, loved every second!!

The DLC 3 story areas REALLY should be part of the main release as it is a main story line item.
GREAT 7 hour platformer with a spoopy story/setting.
This game was fun, interesting, and challenging while also still being scary with little to no blood or gore. The game only took me about 5 hours to complete though, but I probably did not do all the side quests and small achievements. I would recommend for anyone who likes the adrenaline of being a little scared but does not want too much blood/gore elements and does not want an impossible challenge.
I immensely enjoy this game! The artstyle is unique as is the gameplay. The Controls are a little awkward at first until you get used to it.
Cute Fun little game, pleasant art style. Main story is around 4 hours at most. Easily beatable within one sitting.
Very atmospheric and fun! Don't be afraid to die, sometimes it takes multiple tries to understand the environment/enemy and how to overcome them.

I love this game so much. From the visuals to the story to the characters, it was beautiful. Travelling through the twisted world of Little Nightmares left me on the edge of my seat, escaping the dangers of the Maw. Each chapter is unique with its own theme and characters. My favorite, personally, is the Lady's Quarters. In addition to the game's main campaign, I enjoy the Secrets of the Maw DLC that came out soon after the game's release. It expands on the story featuring the Runaway Kid with an equally interesting story introducing new monsters and bringing back monsters from the main campaign, giving them all their unique chapters.
One main issue I had was the bugging and glitching of objects when I try to pick them up and getting stuck in objects and walls, especially when I was working on the Hard to the Core achievement. In chapter one: The Prison, when I first met the Janitor, I was hiding under the bed waiting for him to leave the room when he got stuck in a state of noticing my presence, even when I ran away from him.
Overall, Little Nightmares has been one of my favorite games as a kid and it still is now as an adult. I recommend this game to those who enjoy horror and puzzles.

Amazing graphics, great story and little scary sometimes. Overall a great experience.

Very atmospheric world and quite an interesting ending. Similar vibes to INSIDE but the controls are a little clunkier. It's a pretty short game so I'd recommend it on sale.
I usually love games like this one. I loved Darq or Machinarium for example, but this game was just boring, or at least the first 1,5 hours of it, before I returned it.
i loved the idea of the lantern checkpoints, it gave you such relief when you found one. The game itself it was an great experience. The game had a creepy atmosphere. Its such a great game to play when you love horror and adventure games :)
Ngl, in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Number 3 maybe, followed by Little nightmares 2. With the third installment coming out soon, I assure you that this trilogy will permanently be in my top 5 favorite games of all time. Though- it's not as scary as you might assume, when it does get scary it will make your heart skip more than one beat!

I played this game about 5 years ago on my Xbox when I was a kid and I loved it so much. Replaying it was nostalgic and made me happy. If you like a good spooky horror game that isn't too difficult puzzle-wise, and had an interesting story that is up to your own interpretation, I would highly recommend!
The cinematography is actually insane in this game. The tension can get really fun, and the music makes it 10 times better. Really recommend this game

Visually, stunning! Controls are a bit tricky, but I only played for about an hour. I will get used to them the more I play. It's like, I'm playing in a Tim Burton/Neil Gaiman movie!

Awesome game. Wish there were more like it. Very original with a flavor of authenticity. The game reminded me living in an orphanage in Russia when i was young. I still recount much details from those days. This game just allowed me to in a small way re experience those old moments in memories just by enjoying the journey through the game. A lot of fun. I'm always excited to show others this game. 4.6/5
Absolutely beautiful game!! I just finished the main story and I haven't 100% it yet but I just started going through the DLC chapters before I go on too 100% the whole game and I can't wait to start on that and start playing the second game! :D (ik I'm late to the party)
On a quest to play good games in the year of 2025 (starting a little early), Little Nightmares, a game I glossed over in 2017, has been a very pleasant starting point. Playing through it and it's DLC, the main story of the game has been a treat. The DLC, not so much. Unpolished feeling, the story was three fifths that of the main game, though engaging the whole way through. Experiencing a dozen bugs in the form of death animations not working, invisible objects obstructing my path, and other headache inducing items, I was able to squeeze through and enjoy the heart-wrenching ending. If you haven't played this game, play it.

Genuinely one of the best games ive ever played, it's really messed up so keep that in mind.
A summary of the game WITHOUT SPOILERS is that you are a small child in a world of large things, not many will be on your side.
Definitely try this game, the soundtrack and graphics are amazing!!!
Bad game design, bad character control, bad camera perspective (sometimes, because this game uses certain camera angles to create dramatic visual effects), why is it possible to remap keyboard keys but isn't to controller buttons? Is it so hard to lock the cursor to the game window? (short answer, no, it's in fact very simple), is it so hard to add remappable controller actions to your game? (short answer again, no, it's quite simple) Because the default controller configuration sucks asf. Graphics, art direction, and sound design are very good though, The 3D models in this game are well made, they have good topology, clean details and a smart use of normal maps.
Also, i f hate the protagonist.
I gave a positive review before finishing it, but after i changed it to negative, because the ending is sh1t, seriously, i know it has a secret one but both have hopeless conclusions anyway, also the game ended so fast, i wasn't expecting it to end so soon, i have only 8 hours of playthrough, and that's because i have restarted my progress after a long time without playing it, this game was a waste of time. Didn't play the second one, and don't think i will either.
You are little, and you are in a nightmare. The game delivers as advertised. Lots of disturbing imagery in this double-dystopian world, being chased by malformed creatures, all while you play as a starving little girl in a yellow raincoat.
Also, this is probably the only game that will make standing next to a wiener dog.... heartbreaking.

You can't call this product a "game" because there are not enough gameplay elements in it. The product has nothing to offer besides walking, jumping, grabbing and visuals. After almost one hour not a single riddle or scare in a supposedly "puzzle horror adventure". Keyboard/mouse controls are horrendous. The product is awfully overrated and is not worth a comprehensive long review. 3/10
Epic game! Loved the vibe and the mechanics a lot! Someone with excperieced macro will finish it very fast! Can't wait to play the other dlc and LN 2 !

The only thing that bothered me was the credit in the end of the game! Took a so long that i thought , that i would take an a steam achievement after so many minutes! There was no "escape" on the credit screen in the end ! xD Loved it anyway.
This game is so good. I don't think it's particularly very scary, but the grotesque visuals and audio create this creepy, dreadful atmosphere that was a wonder to explore and survive through. The monsters in this game are distorted in such a way that makes you go "ewwww" but you can't look away. Their shrieks of rage when they spot you trigger an adrenaline response, and outsmarting them makes you feel like a true survivor.
Sometimes the controls are something you have to wrestle with a little bit, but I think that adds just enough to the horror feeling the game establishes.
If you like spooky games, LIMBO, or INSIDE, definitely check this game out. It's short and sweet but also fun to replay. I can't wait to see more games like this one in the future!

This is a really neat little game. Has some great art, good tension, and has some pretty dark themes. If you liked games like Limbo or Inside, you'll like this one. It's short but sweet and you can finish it and the DLC in one sitting if you want. Tip: Access for the DLC is in the chapter select by pressing down. Figured I'd save you the time in figuring out where to access it since it's not clear.
