Good ol' sd gundam
good graphics, good soundtrack, gundam design and battles are similar to the story
Gundam fans, this is it. get it. while its on discount. reminds me of SNES days.
Solid game, Easy to mod
I so want to give this a positive review, unfortunately I cannot as with newer hardware this game will not function properly and crashes when you deploy and start a level. worked fine on a 20 series card, but from what I have seen any newer hardware has trouble running this game and BANDAI is not interested in fixing it.
Fun to play but I just wished it was Deck compatible.
noice
I love the game, just not the constant crashing, from patch 1.6 onwards.
If Namco bandai fixes all the crashes or give us the ability to roll back to an earlier patch 1.5 version, it will be a thumbs up.
please add Gundam Seed Freedom DLC
I love the customization of your groups.
good
TBH I'm just mad there's no windowed mode. That seriously annoys me so much
Screenshots and video does not in anyway show what you a buying. the actually game is a very crappy auto-chess game. the animations are alight but otherwise this isn't worth the time it took to load this store page and scroll down and see my review.
Good game, if you're the gundam fan you should play this game !!! the animation are great, the jap dub with english sub deserve the praise for this game !!
Have been playing this game on and off for years now. Stumbled across it by accident. Missions can be long but that's fine, easy use of quick saves to come back later now that I don't have as much time as I used to when I first started playing. It definitely is grindy but it doesn't need to be if you don't wan to. Once you get what you like you can easily keep playing that on the regular difficulties. The true grind starts going into the higher, and higher difficult missions where you get better rewards and you need to think a bit more. Learn how to best use the mechanics like having 3 action steps per turn, if you land killing hits and learning the how to leverage counter support and counter defend to stretch you tactical advantage and protect you weaker units.
From a story standpoint I'm still breaking into various Gundam shows slowly, pretty much anything not UC which is nice because this has several of the newer Gundams at the time it was made. Been enjoying relieving 00 or for Seed and Iron playing first and then watching the show.
From a game play standpoint I enjoy creating different team builds (you can have more than the 4 active units, you can save different load outs and load them as needed) and building units and pilots around certain play styles to support each other. Custom character isn't massive but a fun element, specially when you learn how the stat growth system works. I highly recommend this guide on that and other general game items. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2019432677
Finally, despite not being Steam Deck verified I find myself playing it on my deck quite often nowadays. It plays well. One thing that I recently ran into is a Cloud save issue with Steam. Sometimes the game will load and crash to desktop right after the intro splash screens come up and the game load will fail. This is a corrupt cloud save issue. It can affect your game between PCs just as well as between PC and Deck. Use this guide to resolve that. Do make a local back up of the save to be safe before going through with this. I've seen this on another Steam game title. https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/0/3801650156484227482/
TL:DR: You need to play each stage twice just to clear it.
Basically every stage has this 2nd act that has new objectives. Sometimes it would be asking you to move a specific unit to a specific location or else the quest fails and you have wasted 2 hours in your life. The problem is that during late game, you wouldn't use the stage default unit so much. So it's set up in a way that, unless you know what is coming in the 2nd act, there's a good chance the time you spent in the first act will be wasted. Lame mechanic.
It's pretty fun, though it has a lot of menus so you should be aware of what you're getting into. SD Gundam games don't tend to be especailly *fast* games, so if you can't handle hour long missions you won't enjoy this.
This is a pretty addicting game if you're into collecting stuff. Develop and collect mechs like mobile suits/armors and watch them do fancy attacks. If you like alternative timelines in the Gundam franchise, like After Colony (Wing) or Post Disaster (Iron Blooded Orphans) and turn-based tactics games as well, give this a spin.
There's a lot of grind in the game though, especially if you're into that aforementioned collecting stuff.

Reminder for myself: Don't re-install this.
The premise is exciting, and the actual amount of content is genuinely worth the price tag, even excluding DLCs that I completely ignored. The idea of using some of my favorite Gundams, like the Harute and Strike Freedom, in a tactics game sounds- and honestly is- very fun.
But man, there's a LOT of issues that bring this experience down. Maps are enormous, long, and bursting with fodder enemies. Combat Animations are delightful and extremely cool, and some I liked seeing even all the way through their introductory missions. But they get old and stale very quickly, given how often you're going to see them, though tolerances may vary of course. But those are the exciting parts; actually playing through the turns gets incredibly tedious very quickly.
And in the main menu, out of combat missions? The UI is surprisingly atrocious. It gets the job done, once you start learning to navigate it, but things as simple as setting up Groups and even Units feels... weirdly antiquated? It's not like quality of life options and ease-of-use didn't exist in 2019, I'm not sure what happened with this game's menus.
But the most prominent factor that keeps me from recommending it is the Grind. I'm a big fan of long grinds myself. I love seeing small numbers get bigger, makes me happy. But I just don't have the time as much anymore, and I could certainly have more fun and engaging grinds than this game is asking for.
It's a serviceable game with an ocean of knee-deep content, all Gundam shaped. That'll be enough for a lot of people, but I'm looking for something more rewarding for diving deeper.
You can customize your own character.
Select your favorite BGM on the character during fight scenes.
It's fun.
And I bought this at a discount. It's a steal.
Whats going on????!!!! this game keep on crashing now.... PLS fix this game
This game is about as tactical as checkers.
great game for a Gundam fan. Menus are a bit difficult but once you figure it out its super addictive.
Runs very well on steam deck.
So let me begin by saying if this game still worked I would highly recommend it. The game play is very fun, and visuals are great. The ability to evolve and develop a team around not only your favorite mobile suites, but mobile armors as well is amazing. Selecting the battle ships from your favorite series also adds to the immersion, and fun of the game. Top all this off with a character creator, and this was honestly one of my favorite games of all time. Unfortunately the game no longer works for most on pc. I'm not sure as to the exact issue, but it will crash once you reach the start menu, and after many many hours of trying to fix the problem I still can't find a solution. If the game is made playable again on PC I will happily change my recommendation, but for now save your money.
Playing this on my pc handheld and the most played game i play on it, i just cant recomend this game to any people especially for newcomers that doesnt know really about gundam franchise. But if you like me that really well, i would recommend this for yours.
I have bought the switch version, and i really hate the switch version cause is so laggy and always force closed when it too much animation. Then i bought the steam version, first i impressed the game runs smooth, but theres still force close and crashs and i hate that so much because it feels depressed that you should reply the stage ENTIRELY.
Ngl i really like this game, cause when i was a kid, im playing sd gundam g generation wars on ps2 with my brothers and that feeling still there for me.
I hope you guys make the next SD GUNDAM G GENERATION.
....No.....not.....that eternal.
How to put this kindly...
This plays like a turn based tactics game that was made by people who have no idea how to make a turn based tactics game.
Why?
Because it is missing most of the quality of life aspects of turn based games that have been the standard for the past two decades. So you end up with a turn based game where you have to make multiple actions to resolve a single units turn and then in combat you have to do the same thing for every enemy that attacks you. So a turn that should take 5 minutes for placement and attacking, becomes an extra 10 minutes of choosing what kind of attack and then choosing what kind of defense each time you are attacked without any ability to set a default for units to use for a more expedient combat system.
I'm not saying this game needs to be like Fire Emblem, Unicorn Overlord, XCOM, Gears Tactics, or Tactics Ogre. Though it should maybe take the hint that everyone else is doing X, so don't try to fix what isn't broken by making what is normally automated into a very slow multi-menu manual slog to resolve every single turn.
How it should be:
Attack:
1. Move Unit
2. Choose Attack, Item, or Ability
3. End Turn
Defend:
1. No further actions needed as the results are automated based on passive unit factors.
How it is in the game:
Attack:
1. Move Unit
2. Choose Skill (A active (not passive) buff that can be used up to 5 times)
3. Choose Attack
4. Choose to skip animation or not (No Auto-Skip option)
5. If enemy dies repeat steps 1 through 4 as you get an extra turn.
6. End Turn
Defend:
1. Choose to counter attack, defend, or evade.
2. Choose to skip animation or not (No Auto-Skip option)
3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 for each enemy attack.
4. End Turn
Always crash. Don't buy this game
This is exactly as I remembered from when I was a kid, I have missed games like this with the Map Strategy base games. Definitely worth it if you have ever played the old G Generations games, only wish they had all the story lines, such as 086, Zeta, F91, etc.
