Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel

I love Fallout Tactics however, it is one of the most busted fallout games ever (and I played BoS!). It probably will not run on your machine without major effort so just get a free copy somewhere else. Steam will not reimburse you for how broke this install is.

You should be paid for the work you put into making this game run in 2025, so please do not spend money on it.

Doesn't play *exactly* like Fallout 1 and 2, but still similar enough that it feels like a hidden original Fallout 3. See if you can manage to come across the cameo of Morte from Planescape: Torment!

Didn't finish it because oh my fucking god it takes forever to kill anything in this game. A painful, boring slog from start to whatever point in the campaign I ended up stopping playing at.

Awesome game for Fallout Fans

This is a review on a game and not a steam version in particular because the steam version is an unplayable garbage and I've finished this game on the epic store version.
Gameplay may catch your attention if you like turn based games and tacticals like Jagged Alliance, but be wary because this game is just a mess and the deepest mechanic related to tactics here is an overwatch.
You spent more than half of the game with close ranged and light guns and in the last third you'll get the rest of the arsenal with a neckbreaking phase. In the last quarter of the game pretty much everything except energy weapons would be useless. You need to grind random encounters which was never a thing in fallout. Missions with vehicles was a chore instead of an interesting addition to the series. Lack of barter between characters in your squad and terrible handling of any ladder by AI is annoying. And don't even get me started on gamebreacking glitches like endless PC turns upon revisiting areas with enemies or straight up non working escape grids on easter egg encounters. You may need to start over the whole game depending on how you use your save slots if you get one of these bugs

tips: set your people to run always and set them crouched. they will get up and run when you move them, if you want them to crouch walk or crawl hold shift when you click where to go. only play in RTS, the game literally was only tested this way, TBS does not work. 11/10 game, I would love Bethesda (old Bethesda, not current) to make a sequel.

Tactics is canon, 76 is not.

Im getting the vibes I got from 76, in the sense it's not really a story based rpg like most fallouts, but more combat focused. If you liked the feel and combat of 1 and 2 you'll most likely enjoy this.

Old but gold!

Tactics is often hailed as one of the worse Fallout games but it's really not. It's one of the times that they decided to do something different with the IP and I frankly think it worked rather well. Instead of really being an RPG it's a turn based squad strategy game with the Fallout elements all there. I played it when it first came out and I've always had a soft spot for it. They took several parts from this game and used them in later Fallout entries also. I think if you like Fallout, you'll like this.

Very underrated fallout game with different playstyle and less roleplaying but more strategy and grander battles. The theme and visuals probably dont fit with rest of the games, but i like it,especially the power armor design.

There are some bugs that take away from gameplay though

Classic Fallout but mediocre

It's like fallout 1 and 2 but take out the choice and most open world stuff... it's ok

Good slow tactical game with a lot of strategy involved. Even being this old is worth checking out.

still consider this a good game for the fallout series told a little different when it comes to the brotherhood chapter but did it fine this game kinda did like a wasteland 2 story where robots trying to kill everyone

Great for when I played back in 2010, now 13 years later I can say just play the Wasteland series. I have fond memories that time won't let me experience anymore so all I can say is you slow junkie ass map exterminating grandpa, thank you. Also eat shit would be better if the hit chance wasn't a cope simulator where they lie to you for a false sense of security and you miss. You tactical move your soldier INCH by inch in every lingering second weighing against your enjoyment.

Feels very mid. Aesthetically it's not pleasant, sounds and music rub me the wrong way. Devoid of fallout series humor.

Ahhh, one of the original non-FPS Fallout games... this was one of the experimental ones with different modes. Okayish.

Sadly can’t run this game.

This game deserves its reputation. Everything about it sucks. The combat in Fallout 2 made sense. In tactics you can be standing point blank on an enemy and have a 30% chance to hit them with a pistol. Combat is also very slow and the tactics don't really exist as you have only 1 way into most areas. There are much better games to spend your free time on.

It's not a bad game, but at some point during the Hummer mission I just realized I wasn't having fun.

It's not exactly what you'd expect as a Fallout game. It's better to think of it as a strategy game that's just set in the Fallout universe. But it is rather fun!
