Solid spinoff game
I like the open sandbox style this childhood gem has
MegaMid
this game is trash
I love this game
incredibly good concept that's wasted on a game that is borderline unplayable. never seen a game so desperately deserving of a remake/reboot
Great for when I played back in 2010, now 13 years later I can say just play the Wasteland series. I have fond memories that time won't let me experience anymore so all I can say is you slow junkie ass map exterminating grandpa, thank you. Also eat shit would be better if the hit chance wasn't a cope simulator where they lie to you for a false sense of security and you miss. You tactical move your soldier INCH by inch in every lingering second weighing against your enjoyment.
Just play on gog or not, lol
Feels very mid. Aesthetically it's not pleasant, sounds and music rub me the wrong way. Devoid of fallout series humor.
Ahhh, one of the original non-FPS Fallout games... this was one of the experimental ones with different modes. Okayish.
Sadly can’t run this game.
This game deserves its reputation. Everything about it sucks. The combat in Fallout 2 made sense. In tactics you can be standing point blank on an enemy and have a 30% chance to hit them with a pistol. Combat is also very slow and the tactics don't really exist as you have only 1 way into most areas. There are much better games to spend your free time on.
wish i can play
It's not a bad game, but at some point during the Hummer mission I just realized I wasn't having fun.
It's not exactly what you'd expect as a Fallout game. It's better to think of it as a strategy game that's just set in the Fallout universe. But it is rather fun!
I DONT CARE WHAT THE CRITICS SAID I FUCKING LOVE TACTICS RAAAAAAAAAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Good game 100 ACME robots out of 10.
I got it on sale a few years back and here's my review of the game. I'll start by optimizing this game for modern systems. I'm using Windows 11 and this game won't go on full screen and I'm forced to play it on the windowed display on my laptop. There are probably mods for that but since I was close to beating the game I didn't need to worry about it. Now for the game. The game has you play whatever character you choose for the game. For me, I used a guide on a website to help me out since I had a hard time the first time I played it and was not used to the game mechanics since I don't play very much strategy games let alone ones that are RPG games. Depending on your character's stats and their teammates they can do a lot to help you out in the game. I don't need to explain the SPECIAL stats since everyone knows what they mean If they played the fallout games. To keep it short certain stats with certain fields you rank up give you perks that help you out in different Scenarios. I use the ones that are best for combat from a website I used for a guide. Every time you do an objective you get XP to level up. There are vehicles to use in combat and drive, which greatly helps. Plus you can shoot inside them making them very useful for most missions. I think the hardest enemies for me in this game were the Super Mutants since they are bullet sponges. I thought fighting the Deathclaws was hard but the Super Mutants are pretty much the Deathclaws but with guns. The enemies go by this order: Raiders, Beastlords, Super Mutants, and lastly robots. The robots we're more easier for me since I had some of the best equipment in the game let alone my main character having body armor so it helped me out a lot. Every time you finish a mission you have to go back to the base to get orders to do a new mission. At the base, you can do things like buy stuff and get recruits in your squad limiting up to 6 but I only used 4 in the game to make the game more manageable for me since having too many people to control would be too much for me. The gameplay is random when you play the game since anything can happen in combat when you think you're prepared. I'm just glad I didn't save at a spot where it's pretty much game over. The open world in this game is pretty broken for me. Not that I hate it it's just the fact that every time you go around the world map you get a random encounter every time you move and it's annoying to deal with. There are mods to fix this but I didn't bother at all since I just wanted to get the game done and over with. There are random encounters in the game I find to be interesting. There's one where you find the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. The gameplay is similar to previous Fallout games it's just that you have more freedom in what you can do in combat. You can crouch and go prone which makes your character less likely to get hit. For the past 28 hours I put into this game I had a lot of fun playing through it even when I had problems getting through certain levels. I'm just glad I got to play this game again and try to finish it for the first time. Even with the optimization, I do recommend people to play this game If they are into the Fallout series. If there was a sequel to Fallout Tactics I would get it. I give this game an 8 out of 10. I hope my review makes you think twice about getting the game. Have a good day.
Sadly barely runs
great game with a great price when bundled!
I finally got into it this last Saturday. It’s brutal (like reset your whole save if you fuck up brutal) but it’s a good time. Excellent score and environment, and the combat systems are unique and really well designed. I can’t wait to get back into it.
if u liked fallout 1 and 2, and like the BoS then get this, the bad reviews r either boomers or smth about fullscreen or smth dumb
It's vulgar, it's trashy, it's corny, and I f**ing love it
One of my all time favorites. Favorites in order - Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics then Fallout 1. I own it on disc but wanted to get it for my Steam account as well. I've played through the game about a dozen times. I probably revisit it every year when the weather starts to cool off.
If you're a fan of these turn-based strategy games, you'll probably love this one! HOWEVER, this game also offers CTB mode, which is continuous turn-based, meaning you still have action point usage but running doesn't cost AP, and the battle happens in real-time as opposed to you and the enemy having individual turns. I prefer to play this game in CTB but sometimes strategy requires switching to turn-based, which can easily be done in game.
The game has a mix of real life weapons and unique weapons, and a small but cool variety of armor so you can do a bit of customization with your team. You basically use them the exact same way as you would use your main character.
100% recommend, and goes on sale pretty frequently. Don't miss out on this gem!
Nice tactical shooter. A bit boring in the last third if you know how to play. The main reason for this if you manage you resources right you become little bit OP and just beat the hell out of robots.
It's a nice time killer but don't expect too much from it.
BEST GAME IVE EVER PLAYED LITERALLY PERFECTION PLS TODD MAKE FALLOUT TACTICS 2 THIS SHOULD BE THE STANDARD FOR EVERY MODERN BETHESDA GAME THEY NEED TO REACH THIS STANDARD TODAY
It doesn't work. At least not well. The only way to play the game is to run the 'windows 8 workaround' version, and when you do that, there are no display settings and if you tab out you lose all keyboard function when you tab back in, (making it impossible to move the screen). As a huge fan of the first and second game, I was disappointed and thought this would run better. Looked up a bunch of ways to fix the problem with running the regular version of the game, but couldn't get anything to work.
Looks like the raiders win, this time, folks.
**Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel – A Unique Tactical Spin on a Classic Franchise**
Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel offers an intriguing twist on the beloved Fallout series, delivering a tactical RPG experience set in the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Released in 2001, this game diverges from the traditional open-world exploration of its predecessors, instead focusing on squad-based tactics and strategic combat.
One of the standout features of Fallout Tactics is its engaging gameplay. Players command a squad of characters, each with unique skills and abilities, navigating a series of missions that require both strategic planning and quick decision-making. The real-time with pause combat system allows for fluidity in battles while also enabling players to carefully plan their moves, making each encounter feel dynamic and rewarding.
The game excels in its character customization options. Players can create and develop their squad members, tailoring them to fit various playstyles. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system remains intact, allowing for a depth of character progression that adds to the overall experience. This level of customization ensures that every player can approach missions in their own unique way, fostering a sense of ownership over their squad.
Visually, Fallout Tactics captures the gritty atmosphere of the Fallout universe. The isometric perspective provides a clear view of the battlefield, and the art design effectively conveys the desolation and remnants of civilization. The detailed environments and varied locations contribute to the immersion, encouraging exploration and interaction with the world.
The storyline, while not as central as in other Fallout titles, offers a compelling narrative set in the Brotherhood of Steel's quest for dominance in the wasteland. Players engage with various factions and face moral dilemmas that reflect the series' hallmark themes of choice and consequence. The quests are diverse, ranging from tactical skirmishes to more intricate missions, keeping the gameplay fresh and engaging.
One of the notable aspects of Fallout Tactics is its emphasis on teamwork and strategy. Coordinating your squad's actions and leveraging their strengths is crucial for success, making each mission feel like a puzzle to solve. The satisfaction that comes from executing a well-planned strategy or overcoming a difficult encounter is immensely rewarding.
In summary, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel is a unique and engaging entry in the Fallout franchise that offers a different flavor of gameplay. Its tactical combat, character customization, and immersive environments create a satisfying experience for fans of strategy games and the Fallout universe alike. Whether you’re leading a squad through intense battles or making tough choices in the wasteland, Fallout Tactics invites players to explore a side of the franchise that is both challenging and rewarding. Dive into this tactical adventure and discover the depths of the Brotherhood of Steel!
havent played yet but using my jedi abilities i can confidently tell you this game will not suck ass as much as most
what? a fallout story about the migration of the brotherhood of steel, ghouls, supermutants and deathclaws to the east and face an A.I. that control an ennemy faction? That's ridiculous!
Good thing Bethesda made it non canon
Highly underrated, a very well-designed tactical strategy game set in the Fallout universe, and a great combination of RPG and micro-management RTS elements, it's more like a Fallout version of Men of War/Call to Arms. But the Steam version seems to have some problems when you launch the game, the GoG version doesn't have such issues.
If you can't launch the game, try these steps below:
1.Hit the Play button from the Steam launcher as normal.
2.Select Play Windowed (Workaround for Windows 8)
3.Select Play from menu launcher.
4.Install this feature if you don't have DirectPlay.
5.Select Options from the title menu.
6.Select the Display tab in the top middle.
7.Select Default in the bottom left.
8.Select Done.
9.Select Exit.
10.Run as normal from the Steam launcher.
it does not work
Well yes. It's well, the brother of fallout brotherhood of steel but I like it.
Not like the other FO's, but can be enjoyable if viewed as a standalone game. Definitely has a learning curve when coming from different FO games.
This game really rewards tactical and strategic thinking, there's a but of a learning curve if you're not used to classic fallout but the time you spend gets more fun as you go.
retro
A solid stepping in the transition from an Isometric RPG into a First Person Looter Shooter RPG. A real time squad based strategy game seems like a really weird choice, but if you can get over the clunky interface, absurd difficulty and obtuse skill mechanics, it's a great time.
But seriously, this GUI is absolutely atrocious.
***DO NOT PURCHASE***
It should be illegal to sell software that simply doesn't work, especially on a platform of this size but, ***YET AGAIN*** Steam has no issue taking your money and giving you nothing.
It will not run, plain and simple. And I don't want to hear "there's fixes for this or that", that's irrelevant. I can pirate a copy and do it myself if that's the case.
Disgusting that it's still being offered here. Not worth it at any price.
amazing its very underrated
I wanna like this game so bad...but it's just SO tedious, frustrating and miserable.
The first two Fallout games have really, really bad interfaces and controls...this game
makes them look like masterpieces in comparison.
Be prepared to quick save and quick load almost constantly as you accidentally have a soldier
reload when you meant to have them fire. Watch them blunder around tight corners of maps
where you can't even tell where you can and can't walk. Watch helplessly as they accidentally
shoot each other as often as they actually hit a target.
I was hoping for an X-Com style game with a coat of Fallout paint on it, but it's more like
a broken, half finished X-com style game with a coat of Super Mutant poo.
There's a good reason this is one of the Fallout games nobody ever talks about.
una mierda
.
Over 16 hours into the game, no power armor and no energy weapons seen so far.
I want to give this game a middle ground as for recommending it, because this Fallout game is an incredibly slow burning game and requires you to take your time, especially on the harder difficulties. The game is incredibly jank, if you alt+tab at any point in the game, the game stops responding to keyboard keys for no reason until the you restart the game.
Even with all the hard negative attributes this game has, it's still enjoyable because of the vast amount of recruitables available, the non-canon lore and the fun factor when you can shred most of the enemies by having 5 or 6 of your characters targeting a single guy at a time and blow them to bits.
This game is for the patient player because of how slow the progression and decision making is. If you want to play something fast paced, this is not the game for you.
I will leave the cat here, so that everybody who passes by can pet it and give it a thumbs up and awards
