Not a typical zombie game. Need to level the class of your choice and the weapons as well.
In my opinion, the developer should update some basic abilities of bots like using medkits or bandages on low health and using sprint to reach the jumped allies as soon as possible to rescue them instead of walking. Moreover, the developer can update the intelligence of bots if possible.
Also, I think players need a lobby to view available online matches that they can join instead of waiting for searching from server and don't know when other players join or even don't know whether any other players are playing.
Overall, the gameplay, graphics, items... is good and is one of my favorite games.
It's absolutely what you want to see in a zombie shooter game. Masses of undead coming your way, yes. Mass genocide on the undead, yes. Weapons and killing machines, yes. The grind never stops, yes. Tactics, yes. Difficulty levels are fair enough for single experience tho co-op is much more comfortable to deal with if you're seeking to try on higher difficulties. Character's classes might be a tiny bit confusing at first but the gameplay would get you used to it
This review is based on 100% completion and 91.2 hours of gameplay.
Recommendation:
Would I recommend the game? Absolutely. This is hands down the best horde shooter game on the market to date. I really enjoy all aspects of this game and honestly don’t have any complaints.
The gameplay is incredibly fun, offering a large range of weapons to use and experiment with—not to mention the various versions of weapons you can unlock. Coupled with the different classes and their skill trees, there’s a ton of variety in gameplay options. While the maps and modes are somewhat limited, which could make them feel repetitive to some players over time, I personally enjoyed every run. The sound design, audio, and graphics are all solid, but the gameplay and mechanics are the real highlights of this game.
The story told through the individual campaigns is decent and easy to follow, but I feel it’s overshadowed by the exceptional gameplay. It almost fades into the background as you focus on the action and mechanics, which speaks volumes about how fun the core gameplay is. While that could be seen as a downside, I believe all the elements work together extremely well to create an amazing experience.
The base price of the game is, in my opinion, worth it for the quality and content you receive. However, since the game has been out for a while and often goes on sale, I’d recommend waiting for a discount if you can.
Achievements:
There are multiplayer/coop-specific achievements required for 100%.
Most achievements in this game are fairly straightforward and will come naturally through normal gameplay, though they’ll require a lot of grinding. The only ones to be concerned about are the coop/multiplayer achievements. At the time I went for them, the specific modes required were essentially dead, so we had to create a full group to get them. Just keep that in mind when aiming for 100%.
for world war z i like that this game is themed in a real world like in a real movie played by brad pitt.
I really like zombie games and the many weapons are the best if you play with friends
i recommend this games nice.
I got this game recently on sale but would happily pay full price for it. It's a great game. I am really enjoying it. Currently only able to play online co op campaign, as I can't seem to get into a multiplayer lobby (in Australia) which is a little disappointing. But the online campaign is really fun so I am not too upset. Highly recommend it if you love zombie shooters. Achievements make it fun and working through all the guns and buffs keeps me busy. I can see a LOT of hours being sunk into this game. Excited for new content in December and hope it might bring some interest so MP may be a thing in the near future for us Aussies.
This game needs to come back. I have spent so many hours on it, developing my playstyle, and learning new ways to play through the daily challenges. It's so much fun, and if you love zombie games, you should play it. This game needs more players.
The game was so hard even in the campaign setting is on normal...the amount of zombies was too much...
A lot of fun, content and zombies.
well worth on Sale, get the Aftermath version
Great Game, I bought it last week on a sale on steam store. Nice story mode and the multiplayer mode make it a very nice game. At last, If you are a shooter fan then you can spend your money on it. This game is definitely worth the price. My friends and I have had lots of fun so far! The different player vs. player modes are also worth trying out but there is a major problem and that is their Servers are horrendous u will automatically get kicked out of games often due to connectivity with servers.
It's good practice for fending off other shoppers on black friday sales in walmart.
Game crash at start sometimes and told you to sent error message, name error like the cant show " in proper way despite already few years and still not has been fixed, graphical and fps issue ( its happen after certain update based on people says in the internet. well In my experience, in the past using different account in same PC, it can run smoothly 30-60 fps without drop fps, now its a mess, can drop to 10 fps- 5fps). (mine intel uhd 630, core i3-9100, dekstop, ram 32 dual channel)
WARNING FOR ON BOARD GRAPHIC:
for intel iris XE or different on board graphic, you might encounter graphical issue like half blue and black in mainscreen, the dev hasnt fixed this yet, but there are fix on the internet, here is the link for detail: https://steamcommunity.com/app/699130/discussions/0/3807279259129635504/
but basically the fix is download https://github.com/doitsujin/dxvk/releases then unzip the file, drag d3d11.dll and dxgi.dll to your game file location (the one with wwzRetail.exe inside).
as for the review for the game, well hasnt played much, online takes long time to find (maybe just timing or region), and go straight to singleplayer and then encounter the drop fps randomly, then i called it a day. basically if you using onboard graphic, just warning you might encounter some problem, also they need to change the requirement. because today is more heavier (which is expected). Refunded.
Edited: oyeah i forgot, i recommend playing with friends, because bots totaly dumb and searching for player might be longer than in the past i guess
As someone who's skeptical about new zombie apocalypse games, I was pleasantly surprised by World War Z. It reminds me of Left 4 Dead 2 with its fast-paced, cooperative gameplay and thrilling zombie hordes. Highly recommend!
Este juego te hace pensar que eres vigilante de la san marcos y los zombies son los alumnos que hacen huelga porque aumentaron 10 centimos al almuerzo
good game, delivered good feelings when killing zonbs. But it's kinda unrealistic at some points, and it was pretty difficult even in the easy difficulty
if you want a easy version of l4d2 and not scary as l4d2 buy this.
it is a good for one and many.
and I only hate the connection lost thingy.
please fix it for one last time developers it is so many years that this game is out but the connection while starting a match is always "Connection lost".
Bought it on sale and had a blast.
-good number of players online
-nice weapon varieties
-easy learning curve to play
-lots & lots of crazy zombies
-many characters to choose from
-nice map replayability
-Bunko is cute
This game has replaced L4D2 for me. I bought this for me and my kids to play. I do wish there are mods for the game but overall, I'm having so much fun with this game. There's just so much here.
It doesn't run as good as Space Marine 2 at first, so expect to tinker with the settings for a minute, but once you get it going, it's a blast. Same with Steam Deck. Took a minute.
I highly recommend. Just a lot of fun.
200+ hr review
Got WWZ free from Epic and played it for a bit there and the game now supports cross-platform/save*
Essentially the game takes the L4D formula, adds in the 'fast zombie' + 'massive horde' mechanics from the movie (AND book, yes the movie is EXTREMELY loosely based on the book, think Starship Troopers level of 'based on the book').
At the higher/highest difficulties, you have to make every bullet count & use the environment terrain and consumables to your advantage. This game and Aliens Fireteam Elite probably have the best challenge for games of this sort (outside of L4D2 that is) and can be extremely fun with friends (who are skilled) otherwise Hard mode is... actually hard. I recommend starting on Hard if you are new to the game (also like AFE, friendly fire matters). It's basically L4D2 with fast zombies moving in vast hordes plus persistent class progression.
The classes are varied and quite fun. From the usual 'soldier', 'medic' and 'engineer' to more melee focus ones or ones that like to burn or blow things up. The classes can synergize very well (above Hard mode, certain classes are a must) and while the progression is VERY grindey... welp you're playing the game aren't you?
There is no pay-2-win mechanics at all but the 'shop' and customisations are very obviously meant to induce players to grind (and play the game, honestly you think this was a free-to-play game with this sort of grind-gate mechanics)
The characters / settings are original with good animation and voice acting. Some customisations are available and there are a few novel mechanics with elaborate set piece battles.
The 'battlefield' can varies quite a bit, from narrow claustrophobic corridors with sudden drops and pitfalls to wide open fields. Lighting can be oppresively gloomy or blindingly sunny. The world looks good and appropriate but the zombies kinda leave something to be desired - probably because the devs prefer a higher frame rate to super-detailed zombies
It's worth a buy and is a steal when it's on sale. Years after it launched on Steam - there are a LOT of players still playing. Especially since it's now cross-platform/save.
*unofficially supported but you can just transfer your save file from Epic to Steam (just needs to be renamed) but it can cause some funny things in Steam Achievements, i.e. you get half a dozen high level ones instantly, the rest are still zeroed /etc. - assuming you even care about Steam Achievement. The game also supports Pros for cross-save
Very good game with solid game mechanics and gameplay , highly recommend if ur a zombies fan.
It's pretty fun, I like the variety of classes. I think depending on what class you play, this will be significantly more fun with even just 1 friend + bots. Because some classes are more reliant on picking certain items up - e.g. medic with med packs and stims, not having noobs/randos steal everything makes it more enjoyable.
Great zombie killer game, better than a lot of the new ones.
I highly recommend ^^
World War Z: Aftermath is a thrilling co-op shooter that delivers intense zombie-slaying action. The game boasts impressive graphics and well-designed levels that keep players engaged throughout the campaign. The fast-paced gameplay, filled with hordes of zombies, creates a chaotic and exhilarating experience.
While the game offers a lot of fun, there are a few minor issues. The hitboxes can sometimes be a bit inconsistent, leading to missed shots. However, this may be due to individual skill and playstyle.
Overall, World War Z: Aftermath is a great game to play with friends. It's a non-stop adrenaline rush that's perfect for those who enjoy cooperative zombie shooters.
game seems totally bugged right now. no xp is being earnt. no progress is being saved ever. think im done with this piece of shit. not even graphical settings stay applied the next time i load the game
Upgraded L4D2, i tried Back 4 Blood but made a refund. WWZ was better, and i like it that you can switch between third-person & first-person view.
Amazing game. just wish there were more missions and more people playing. playing solo gets boring. 10 of 10
One of the best "l4d clone" atm, campaign is nice and so is horde mode.
Classes are mostly ok, some are made to thin waves, some to support ammo/HP and others to tank and stall in melee.
The horde wave system is pretty cool honestly and makes traps/mortars/... interesting to use.
The only bad thing is if you prefer horde mode, there is a bug (that will probably never get fixed) which make a lot of zombies "ghost" and you just kill zombies on your screen that are desynced (but would do no damage if they were still alive).
very fun game, lots of hectic moments and teamwork makes the dreamwork.
The best way I can describe this game is if Valve ever decided to go back and bring Left 4 Dead into the modern age of gaming, this game would have been super close to what they would have done to make it feel like a desperate zombie squad shooter. It has a lot of the same elements in the story missions, just with a ridiculous amount of zombies on screen instead.
That being said, I feel like it can sometimes be really hard to find an actual match making game and even if you do, people tend to drop out quicker than I'd like. This game does not play very well solo, as the bots are about as smart as the Left 4 Dead original bots. So if you want to play this game, make sure to bring friends.
The difficulty can really amp up if you want it to, but I wouldn't even bother trying to do hard with anything other than a squad of friends. PUGs just don't do well on anything but normal difficulty in my experience. Experiences may vary for you, but I'd still encourage you to try.
I'd give this game a solid 7.5/10 It's not that it's bad, it's just kind of older and sometimes that can lead to longer wait times for a game. Updates are kind of sparse now, but what can be said about that? It's from 2021. Amazed it hasn't been shutdown.
Good game, nice co-op but MP is DEAD (almost no ppl, searching for matches takes 10-15mins and then u either enter a 2v2 or infinite que cos no players..).
Get it on a good sale if ur here 2 play co op w friends as there ain't that many campaigns and they are mostly the same recycled content across different maps (get from point a to point b, survive a horde wave for few mins, move from point b to point c, do something on point c, move to point d and another horde wave..)
Yes they are adding more campaigns but as dlc ofc so overall the game is overpriced if u buy the game and all current and upcoming dlcs...
Overall first few campaigns ur new and the game is interesting, challenging and have 4 episodes, while the newer and dlc ones have 3 episodes are not challenging and feel repetitive (only diff is location..)
I've played this game a lot on the PS4. it's a lot of fun, especially with friends.
No matter how based you are, you will not survive a World War Z. It's terrifying...
Nice game. But it's hard to play coop in here.
Gameplay, graphics, and fun factor are definitely in this game. I would change the linear paths a bit, and open up a bigger realm. The scare effect is a bit lacking, maybe I should turn out the lights, but I did love mowing down a crap load of zombies as they swarmed.
World War Z is an exciting co-op shooter that captures the thrill of battling hordes of zombies. The fast-paced gameplay and teamwork are really engaging, and the variety of classes keeps each match fresh.
I’m working on getting all the achievements, but it’s quite a challenge! Overall, World War Z is a fun and intense game for anyone who enjoys cooperative zombie action. Highly recommend!
If you enjoy killing zombies, this game will keep you busy doing just that. Waves and waves of hordes. So, don't blink or your done for. Forget about trying it on hard settings.
For me, I love killing zombies, but the constant wave attacks are relentless. After a few million slaughtered zombies, you might find it boring.
Game is actually pretty fun but ridiculously grindy for a $30 game.
Shame on Paramount and Saber Interactive.
Very competently made co-op zombie horde shooter, checks about all the boxes but doesn't really stand out either.
Currently my favorite zombie game. I really enjoy the zombie hordes and playing through the different levels of difficulty. It is more fun with friends because the AI bots aren't the brightest. It would be great if you could tell the bots what to do. Besides the smooth brain teammate bots, I really enjoy the game.
Not a bad game but I would avoid buying if you don't have anyone to play with and you don't like matching with randoms. The AI is more brain dead than the zombies are. Won't do anything outside of using heals/adrenaline including picking up important story items.
Also kind of annoying that the base game is only 4 chapters, especially if you bought the game a while ago. $50 for 8 chapters is kinda bad given how short each of the chapters are (unless you by them together for 39.99 which is still kinda high in my opinion.)
Definitely worth it if its on sale and you can convince a few friends to buy it with you
the update made it buggy but the game experience is very nice. this should have been how b4b should feel like but either way, wwz exceeds expectation.
Zombie defence simulator. Boring gameplay, bad voice acting, blah visuals, absolutely terrible AI, and extremely repetitive. Classes are good for gameplay variety, and wide specific character selection is great because most characters are hard to listen to. 3/10
The game itself is good until the latest updates. I got disconnected every time when the game was starting. Hope the developer fix this problem so we can continue our joy in bashing the Z head off
I only wish there was a dodge mechanic, it feels unfair that charger zombies can just bulldoze you and you can't really jump out of the way. Other than that, a solid successor to the Left 4 Dead series. You can turn your brain off and just shoot the undead
could be good but way too many bugs for no reason. Everytime I try to get into this game i run into ridiculous issues. I cannot even play with people who are on other systems, why make crossplay if I cant invite my friends from xbox??
I love this game! I mostly have it in the PlayStation version.
no describe needed more than its really fun, played alot on xbox before but its even more fun/great at PC, love the game
Very fun to play either single player or multiplayer
Great with friends...It does feel samey after a while but its good to relax on for an evening!
Mass of zombies. Great graphics. This is what me and my best friend who I moved 3000 miles away from several months ago play together when we game because it's just one of the best multiplayer games that fits what we both like. Great storylines too.
Would be nice if the video settings in the game would function properly... Resolution is all jacked up now, im running 3440x1440 and it was working fine until the 2nd time I started the game. Now I cannot adjust the resolution its stuck at 3440x1440 but its definitely not displaying that resolution (everything looks really wide). I am unable to change it in the settings either which is beyond frustrating. Im on windows 11 so if anyone found a fix for this please let me know.
This game seemed to be born out of consideration for what would be a fun experience rather than simply what could make money. In addition the devs have continued to tweak and refine the experience even years after release. Overall a surprisingly excellent game with enough progression depth and level/scenario randomization to keep things interesting for a good long time.
