I just started compared to the original underworld games this one seems more immersive I actually feel like I'm actually in Stygian abyss I'm still mucking my way thru it I think I've set brightness to low..
the gameplay would be fine if you didn't randomly slide all over the place, its random too and you can't stop it, so you can slide off to your death or slide off a platform you were trying to get to.

Holy shit this game is bad. I heard the rumors, but I swear there are games that have been in Early Access since Obama was president that work better than this. Everything feels so half-assed. The physics are pre-Source engine tier, the textures look like they're contemporary with Arx Fatalis, and I basically had zero story in 7 hours of play. I wouldn't be surprised if the character models were lifted from a mobile game. I know this game hit a huge financial wall in development, but you could cobble-together a better game on the Unity store in a month. I can't even imagine what this looked like on release.
Shame this is just crap - you cant even get into it. Sad I so wanted to like it...
Don't waste your money. Some would have you believe that patches applied to this game have made it playable since launch, and it certainly seemed so for the first few levels, I was having fun. Then the problems started in the Underswamp. The game for some reason no longer recognised my character possessing the Abyssal Key I acquired in the Keep, meaning I could not claim my reward from the mediator, and the next objective wouldn't trigger. I was able to use this transient "key" to get to the lower level, but no other objective showed up, meaning I was left fumbling around with nowhere to go and no quest-giver to be found, since I obviously couldn't complete the last quest.
So I explored Titan's Reach looking for the mediator, but no quests were triggering and no more keys could be found, meaning all the metal doors I kept finding were, you guessed it, locked, and impassable. To make matters even more infuriating, the lack of progress was seemingly making such trivial matters as movement deteriorating, and eventually I hit a complete brick wall when, on my way to the Arcaneum, I got stuck in an upper room with the only ways out being to jump down through arches. But the fall damage in this game is insane, and I had no mana to cast a soft landing spell. Oh, and there was an enemy in this area who could glitch through scenery and register hits on you from a stupidly long reach. This really is ridiculous game design, and convinced me that time was up for this broken mess of a game.
I don't know what has happened here. Underworld Ascendant starts out promising, with a nice art style, a terrific variety of weapons and magic spells, and a decent skills system, but it feels rushed and incomplete, as if it was released to meet a deadline and to satisfy shareholders, but not refined to work properly, or even to take into account the different orders different players will tackle levels, which is kind of crucial for an "immersive sim". It became a sick joke when I got into an area that clearly hadn't been meant to be reached by the time I got there, and therefore the enemies populating the area weren't yet programmed to attack me. This is pathetic. So after about 12 hours I have 4 keys out of 7 to show for it, and a few achievements, and about 9 hours worth of reasonable fun, but those last 3 have been really sour and bitterly disappointing. It was a waste of a Friday evening, and a warning to all: steer clear of this one, since it's unlikely the game will be fixed further.
