pretty good. not worth ditching your anniversary for, no matter how hard you want to romance someone, but pretty good
a really fun game, with an amazing modding scene!! gunplay has been MASSIVELY improved from 3 and new vegas, and the world brings a somber, yet hopeful vibe!!
This game is a buggy filled full of bugs, glitches and crashes shit fest. I cant enter a certain area without it crashing i cant fast travel to a certain town without it crashing. Enemy Ai is impossibly accurate and kills you quickly.
I recommend this game for fallout fans. It is not my first pick in the series but it is non the less a good quality bethesda game. Enjoy gaming my friends!
The game is fun dont get me wrong but its hard to call this a role playing game. and it is hard to get this game to not crash so i kinda forces you to download mods to get it to run
Besides all the horny teenagers modding this specifically for no reason this was my favorite fallout game between vegas, 76, and 3
amazing game. i perfected this game on ps4, xbox1 and steam. alltho i didnt play much of the previous fallout games. after easily putting in over 1000 hours into fallout 4 its definetly one of my favorite of all time. the fallout community is one of the best. highly recommended 10/10
Rating: 8,5/10
Plus:
+ Story
+ Game locations atmosphere
+ Music
+ Dialogues
+ Weapons mechanics
Minus:
- Game is possessing old mechanics and if you start to using mods to avoid it, you'll not gain any steam achievements
- Some bugs
- Loading screens when switching locations
Ad Victoriam!
it has its fair share of quirks and glitches just like any other fallout. but the battle mechanics and trade and building system is very fun to use and overall gameplay is very fun. screw the minutemen tho
This big-budget is a merge of world building (settlements) with action - mostly at your own pace as you choose to embark on missions or explore the world.
Plenty of easter eggs and humor. Dated graphics, limited soundtrack choices, but it's still be updated and modded almost ten years later. A NetFlix movie was made about it. It's a classic.
Next gen update makes the game unplayable withouf mods and tweaks. No fps limiter for a game with an engine that breaks at high framerates. Ultrawide support is just a waste, disgraceful to stretch the UI to fit.
definitely a fun game but its missing so much of what made the others good its hard to ignore
fallout 4 is the best game since Obivion and besides it is what makes great mods just like skyrim it is replayible
Its a fallout game, loot and shoot bad guys. That said, much more effort was put into enemy AI and mechanics so for that reason I think this is a better product than other fallout games. I would say the story and companions are better but I can't stand the dialgue wheel. Feel's like you can't have a real conversation with them.
I mean, it's fallout 4. It being a great game is simply a fact of life. Sure, it's buggy. Sure, the story can sometimes be somewhat lacking. But the settlement building mechanics, the player influence on the story, the combat, and the expansions make it all worth a few (or more than a few) bugs. Getting the expansions, especially Far Harbor and Nuka-World, is practically a requirement, they just add so much new content. Overall, I can say after dumping 500+ hours into this game, it is completely worth every penny I paid.
Multi-billion dollar company doesn't just let glitches slowly destroy the game, but also forces players to download an update that absolutely tarnishes both the game and the company's reputation. Gotta hand it to Todd, that's kinda impressive.
good game, good lore, spent almost 1000 hours of my life lost in this game, 10/10 will play again, and again, and again
Fallout 4 is a truly remarkable game that I have thoroughly enjoyed diving into. It's not just a game; it's an expansive open-world experience that captivates players in ways few games can. The vastness of the wasteland is breathtaking, as it allows me to roam freely, exploring a post-apocalyptic landscape filled with remnants of a once-thriving civilization. Each corner of the Commonwealth holds secrets waiting to be discovered, from abandoned buildings to hidden treasures, making every excursion an adventure that I anticipate eagerly.
One of the standout features of Fallout 4 that I particularly admire is its intricate crafting system. This mechanism allows players to gather resources from their surroundings and transform them into useful items, weapons, and even intricate settlements. The sense of creativity and customization it offers is invigorating, as I can modify my gear to fit my play style or create unique structures to establish a foothold in this harsh world. The crafting system allows for endless experimentation, inviting me to think strategically about the materials I collect and how I can best utilize them to enhance my survival chances.
As I traverse the desolate landscapes, I often find myself immersed in the deep lore and storytelling that the game offers. Each character I encounter has their own backstory and motives, enriching the narrative tapestry that unfolds before me.
Honestly I like the game, I love exploring Boston and it's nearby areas, there are just some problems to fix for it.
1. Your choices do not really have a negative karma or a positive karma like in F3 or Fallout New Vegas, there are way less choices.
2. Some guns are just completely non-sensensical, Assault Rifle is literally just a WW1 machine gun, I heavily doubt that the US armed forces used that in 2077. Morever the animations seem really reused.
3. You get to make settlements whatever way you want which I like.
4. Graphics are good and the visuals are great.
5. Bethesda could've made this game much better if only it had more time in the oven.
6. POWER Armour feels like an actual mobile tank compared to just wearing it in fallout 3/fallout new vegas.
I usually don't buy games without coming across a major spoiler before hand, but this time I was able to get through my first play through without any major spoilers giving me a rare but filling experience that I don't find often in games. I love the replayability of the game too. I mean getting all four endings I could be a little biased about the replayability, but even if that is true this game is a good or great experience to enjoy.
I love the Fallout series. This one is more base building and gun-making.
still one of my favorite games of all time, a ton of fun to be had here. i still think it lacks the worldbuilding and storytelling compared to its predecessors, but the gameplay improvements and improved overall gameplay elements makes it a better time after your first playthrough. the next gen update really bothers me as it broke a lot of things including mods and even their OWN creation club add ons, but thats my only bother. this creation engine is aging bad nowadays as shown in starfield and fo76 so hopefully moving foward theres a new engine.
even tho they keep throwing occasional updates to this game breaking mods... it is still an excellent game! some builds are pretty broken but otherwise a blast!
Tbh, just play this game with mods, it's soooo much better, just like any Bethesda games, the modding community makes it 10x the game it really is imo
When I decided to start my run for collecting every single achievement in Fallout 4, base game and DLCs I honestly didn't think I'd make it. I had only a meer 40 hours with only 20 achievements and hadn't even beaten the game once. Now I have about 130 hours, 84 achievements, and countless loading screens and dialogues burned into my brain. As painful as it was I would do it all again if I had too, definently one of the best games of all time to collect all achievements for, especially if it is your first time like mine.
This game has a dog as a follower. I mean, how could you possibly say no to that? It’s like choosing between saving the world or hanging out with the most loyal, furry companion ever. Sure, the apocalypse is in full swing, but your dog will still look at you like you’re the hero. Forget about saving the Commonwealth, I’m just trying to keep my pup from getting into random radiation puddles or chewing up my last can of beans. But honestly, if the end of civilisation means I get to have a dog at my side while fighting off mutant monstrosities... well, I’m in. 10/10, would pet the dog again.
Fallout 4 is one of those games that I’ve sunk hundreds of hours into—and it’s not just because of the action or the gripping storyline, though those are definitely a big part of the fun. What truly makes this game special is the freedom to escape into its world in so many different ways. Sometimes, I find myself stepping away from the chaos and simply losing hours in the quiet moments.
There’s something incredibly soothing about spending a day in a random shack, far from the action, tinkering with a gas tank launcher I found by chance. Or spending countless hours building my own settlements, shaping a world that feels uniquely mine. These moments of solitude and creativity are what really make Fallout 4 stand out to me—they allow you to exist in its world, not just fight through it.
The modding community is another huge factor. The mods breathe new life into the game, adding fresh content and enhancing the experience in ways that keep it feeling new every time I return. It’s one of the reasons why Fallout 4 never really gets old.
My little brother and I share a love for this game, and we’ve spent hours exploring, building, and living in its post-apocalyptic world. Fallout 4 isn’t just a game; it’s an experience that lets you carve your own path and lose yourself in its world, one that’s as alive as you choose to make it.
Your favorite RPG series with all new bells and whistles that the Creation engine has to offer, and now only 25% of the role playing!
If you enjoy the Fallout series, like myself, then by all means play this game. However, I find that it falls short of most other entries in the series. Much like my time with Cyberpunk 2077 a lot of my disdain and frustration comes from the main narrative of the game. We see the same issues here, only this time exacerbated by the 4-way directional input dialog system.
Because of the lacking dialogue options, much of the zany charm that the Fallout series is known for is left to side quests, small unmarked locales, or collections of props and notes/entries. While this is nothing new to the series, I found myself taking a completionist style playthrough just so I could see all of those small moments to make up for the lack-luster experience I was having with the main story.
It feels like Bethesda really painted themselves into a corner in embracing the fully voiced PC with 4-way directional dialogue. The mundane options of up = questioning, right= sassy/asshole, down = thoughtful, left = neutral or sarcastic, grates at you that much more when you realize what you say has very little effect as you're being railroaded along a milquetoast story line which is written as a catch-all so that regardless of dialogue choice, it all routes back to the next fixed line of dialog that the NPC has to offer no matter how jarring and conflicting the transitions. Why even give us the option to do things like continually tell the leader of a faction that we don't support them and actively support other factions, debasing them in front of their council only for them to be largely trusting of the main character and surprised when it backfires 30 minutes later? It makes it feels as if nothing is at stake and there are no consequences while the narrative is constantly building and telling you the opposite.
Ultimately what you say has very little, if any impact, even in the main 8-ish hour storyline. Much like Cyberpunk 2077 we've again been given the guise of choice only to be fed a psuedo-linear, "can't quite take a stance" storyline that fails to branch out, and instead rides a very middling line that bounces back and forth between vague witticisms and generalized catch-all dialogue. The game feels as though it is written to appease to very basic archetypes that align their beliefs 100% with a given faction, but even then there are holes and conflict abound in the narrative as previously mentioned. In turn I found the narrative to be very frustrating and unsatisfying, feeling like everything I said fell on deaf ears, all while being told the opposite.
So play it to get what you want out of it, but my recommendation would be to spend your money and time elsewhere (Fallout: New Vegas, the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, Death Trash, etc).
great game but the engine was outdated at launch this bad engine hampers modability and playability with regular crashes
fun game nice enviorment anoying intro but guns look bad ie the assualt my eyes rifle
there should be a mod called "Railroad Perfected" that removes the entire faction. Everyone in HQ is turned into feral ghouls and the only thing left untouched are their dumb hobo signals that point out where they were last shot in the ass or where the jet stash is
i have never actually bought a game and beat it but this one was really fun and i beat it i really recomennd it
I'm a huge Fallout fan, I especially love the lore of the games, I've been playing the Fallout series for a very long time and it means a lot to me.
That's exactly why I was more than disappointed with Fallout 4, the lore is trampled on and I never really enjoyed the game.
If you've never played the old parts, I can imagine that it's a solid game that can be fun.
But if you're a fan of the old games, or just want a better/original lore and a game with "personality" I would recommend Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3.
Returned playing this almost century back by now, and I’m having an absolute blast. One thing that especially impresses me, that I haven't got a single crash during my latest 60 hours playthrough, which is something I just can't take for granted these days.
But yeah, playing on survival is super fun and intense, keeping me more engaged than I’ve been with a game in years.
And I'll also give extra points for the atmosphere in general for the wilderness and every locale I've been so far, which all of it just seems to nail the vibe for me, resulting me being locked into my immersive little world of my own ^_^
it definitely is a fun game to play. Storys alright. Love exploring the wasteland and leveling up my character with cool perks.
Though there are a hell of a lot more bugs in the pc port than what i remember when i played through the console version on my 11 YEAR OLD Xbox...But most of the bugs you can easily ignore so I'm not too fussed about it
DO NOT buy this game at full price. It is so often on sale for only £5. Like literally every few weeks
This game is incredible! I have been playing this game on and off for 9 years and with every new play through, I see or experience something different. Its not perfect. Its a Bethesda Game Studios game, so it has some bugs. Sometimes, the bugs just adds a little bit of humor to things....other times it can make you mad. This games has an incredible settlement system that allows you to build up areas and create vendor stalls. You set up defenses and try to make your settlers happy by adding things like workout equipment or bars. The story is really good but the side missions are better in my opinion. There is always something to do or somewhere to go in this large open world game. I, without a doubt, recommend this game
my first fallout game, and my first ever game i played on xbox. just had to replay it on pc, i love exploring the wasteland and listening to old music from the 50s
If you love bugs and crashes that keep you from playing the game or beating it then youll love everything by bethesda
Preston garvy will get mad at you for not evacuating the people that want to replace you and your kid with robots from the explosion calling us "evil and "no better".... like it was morally grey. yet he takes pride in killing real humans and children by blowing up the prydwen. so we are morally wrong for killing people that want to sytemically replace and murder us, but its justifed to kill a group of people that want to protect us and to top it off he is invincible and is required the whole game. horrrid game design it makes me sad to think about
Game is only good if you download mods to fix the bad base game
First introduction the the Fallout Series, and i was very pleased and Hooked.
Great story Progression and the ability to choose the outcome for your Character.
I enjoyed the Crafting, base building and Combat.
I would and have recommended this game to others.
Let's see... A couple spoilers ahead.
What a weak RPG. Putting in perspective, instead of having an indeterminate type of progression /\/\/\/\/\, Fallout 4 is simply too linear ------, too linear to the point that right at the start of the game you are forced to side with a faction because the other one is already attacking you... And no, you can't get their trust, nor talk to them, you're an enemy as soon as you leave your vault. Meeting a new npc is a 50/50 because you can very easily get caught in the infamous "infinite quest loop" as I like to call it, where an npc will continuously ask you to clear X area, recover X item, save X person............ A massive waste of time. Do I have to talk about the quest continuity? Let's say you accepted a quest from an npc that demands you clear X area, you then accept another quest where you need to take this same npc somewhere, but you can't, because you need to complete the clear X area first before you can take the stupid npc somewhere, because the game doesn't give multiple dialogues options and only tracks 1 quest. I literally blew up the institute (biggest fucking explosion in the game) and the Railroad were still asking me to attack the institute (LOL). Oh and your characters talks, on top of that it says nothing you're actually thinking (who would've thought!!!!!!!). Unlike previous games, the Fallout 4 ending doesn't change based on what you do in the world. Nothing has a meaningful impact and it's so blend. Also, the main radio host (Travis Miles) is terrible, someone shoot that guy already.
Fallout 4 does a very good job at being pointless. The map is big but most places are just infested with enemies to kill and nothing more. There are rare exceptions like the Boston Mayoral Shelter, where you collect holotapes and gradually learn more about what happened in that place... And you're rewarded for doing so. An amazing way to tell a story, just like Vault 22 from FNV. I have to be honest here and spit this: FO4 didn't have any memorable quests for me, nothing like the Oasis questline from FO3 or Come Fly With Me from FNV. Most memorable thing from FO4 so far was reaching max affinity with Cait (companion). Speaking of pointlessness, I spent so much time building and making settlements, but it has no impact on the world.
What were they even thinking by removing the skill system?! Instead of wanting players to do specific builds, they wanted everyone to be good at everything. The level up UI is cool tho.
Even with all these things, the game is pretty fucking fun. It has weather phenomena, an immersive real-time weather system, and sometimes everything goes green because of the radstorms. Sometimes it's a fog, sometimes it's rain; The random encounters are so rich as well, and after the brotherhood of steel appears, everything gets pretty caotic, with vertibirds exploding everywhere; There's no equipment durability; The combat is amazing and it feels so satisfying blowing everyone's heads off. This game is GOOD. I ain't playing it anytime soon cuz I'm a bit fed up but it's pretty good.
Fallout 4 is a phenomenal open-world RPG that offers an unforgettable journey through a post-apocalyptic Boston and beyond. The world feels vast and alive, with a rich lore and countless secrets to uncover. Exploring the Commonwealth, battling mutated creatures, and interacting with various factions make for an engaging experience.
The character customization and the crafting system are both deep and satisfying, offering countless ways to personalize your playthrough. The combat is solid, with a variety of weapons and an excellent V.A.T.S. system that adds strategic depth to every encounter. The main storyline and side quests are immersive, with several moral choices that feel impactful.
However, there are a few drawbacks. The voice acting for the protagonist can sometimes feel flat, especially compared to the complexity of the other characters. Some technical issues, such as occasional bugs and frame rate drops, can disrupt the immersion, though they aren't game-breaking. Additionally, the story, while good, may feel a bit predictable at times, and the lack of meaningful consequences for certain decisions can be disappointing.
Overall, Fallout 4 is an incredible experience for fans of the series and newcomers alike, but it’s not without its imperfections. Despite the flaws, the sheer scope of the game and the freedom it offers make it a must-play for any RPG fan.
Bethesda ruined the game with the next gen update. It makes it so the FPS is extremely low and the game is always stuttering when previously, the game would run very smooth with a stable 60 FPS. And besides that, it makes it so a lot of mods no longer work. But before the next gen update, the game was a 10/10. One of the best ever made.
I have loved this game, despite its faults. Mods make it a thousand times better. Will probably be playing this until Fallout 5 comes out in the next century lol.

Really more of an Adventure game than an RPG. Quests are fairly linear and largely follow the "go here, kill things" format; dialogue choices are heavily stripped down (hazards of having a voiced PC I suppose, but that doesn't stop Bioware!); leveling encourages a "kind of good at everything" approach. Most of the joy is derived from wandering the wastes and f*cking around.
But the quality of that f*cking around? *mwah* About as good as it can be without a casino or a proctology robot.
Automatrons and Far Harbor are must-gets, everything else can wait unless you want to be evil (Nuka-World) or turn the game into Factorio (the others).
i played loads of game from war of warcraft ect and this game is up there with the best! worth evey penny i spent for it! 9/10
11/10 gooning session when i saw the X-01 power armour for the first time, it was the most pleasant experience of my life, just staring at that 12 piece iron skillet set of pure heaven while having an immaculate tug of my wriggler.
