Best dollar I ever spent! its simple and easy if you are looking to get such game this is the one for you. Having fun playing it!
An awesome game! i beat a few levels and won a few peices, i just dont have any freinds to play with
The transaction that you take by installing this game is so simple, for 0.99 you're getting an hour and a half of RC racing in VR. Do not anticipate multiplayer racing unless you have friends who are going into it with you, as the multiplayer community was dead the entire hour I was playing. In singleplayer, you start with a slow buggy and win components as you progress through the races. It didn't take long to unlock all of the parts and to find a build that I felt worked well. The racing is definitely more fun once the speed picks up, and honestly I wish the late game racing is how it started and that we went even faster for the late game. I always resent racing titles where you can full throttle your way to victory, although there are definitely tracks where you will be punished if you go full throttle with a full battery early on. Pick this up for yourself and for all of your friends who have vr headsets, you might only play it once but it's hard to imagine that that night wouldn't be worth the $5 or $6 it would cost you to get everyone involved
i bought this game twice, first time asked for a refund due to no snap turn, said i would buy it back if it was fixed and it was so im back.
theres a bunch of bugs nothing game breaking, but the developer seems to be working on it all again and support it. its a fun little grind to get all of the parts and build your perfect little buggy. as long as you have good enough parts you could finish ever race first try not hard. for $1 you really can not go wrong with this neat little game. i havent been able to play multi player yet so i cant comment on it.
This has to be the best dollar I've spent in a long time - definitely worth at least 5 in it's current state.
Obviously I'm assuming you are interested in this because you like playing with RC cars - or loved it when you were a kid. This captures that feeling. You stand on the side and drive the RC car around with the controllers, I still have to mess with the WMR settings a bit, but I have to do that with most games because I decided to buy WMR instead of Vive/Oculus.
It's a total blast driving the car around the track racing the AI, and I'm hoping to get some of my friends to buy it so we can play together.
I hope the developer continues to improve it, as this really is a hidden gem, and thanks to Ben Plays VR for the review, never would have heard of this otherwise even though it is right up my alley!
Meh, it's rather boring.
6/10
Just scrapes a recommendation. Forget multiplayer, noone was ever online whilst I was. As a singleplayer experience it is reasonably fun, but slightly boring. The sound doesn't help - it's just a continuous whirring 2/3 seconds repeated infinitely. The racing just doesn't feel exciting or competitive enough.
This is a fun game, the progression system (winning new parts for your car after winning each race) works well. I would highly recommend it to anyone that has any interest in it at all. I wasn't sure but was sold on the reviews. Now I did run into some small issues. 1. The game studders during races seems to happen a lot. 2. The game may or may not have a memory leak, the longer I play the worse the performance seems to get. 3. The best part of the game the car parts you win, don't always award a part. To clarify, I win a race, pick up the gift, go back to the customize car room (the room you start in) and nothing changes, no new part, nothing. None of this kept me from enjoying the game, I just hope some if not all gets fixed. Great game, great price, don't think just get it.
What a surprising gem! most fun I've had for a dollar in a long time. Executed well. Changing car parts is fun. Would love to see this get more attention and get a multiplayer base. Worked good with windows mixed reality HMD.
This game is extremely fun for rainy days or just a bit of hobbiest fun. The cars control well and the upgrades give insentive to play tracks without throwing much difficulty at you. With that said, the game has a few flaws, the big one being you have to physically turn your body if you want to face a different direction, something that really harms gameplay for those on Oculus.
This is definitely a great game and an unbeatable price. The only thing i'm having a problem with at the moment is i can't seem to turn my direction without turning my body. i understand it's vr but when i go to the desk to customize my car i'm facing away from my VR Sensors. I only have two at the moment and plan on getting a third but at the moment this is very aggravating.
Such a great game. I had tons of fun playing this as i loved racing round each course, constantly trying to beat the AI and unlocking new items.
A ton of fun for just $1! The game is packed with tracks and unlockable items to upgrade your car. For $1, it is a must-buy.
For $1 you cant beat this with a stick. Worth $5 in current state i'd say. Already tried a couple of races and upgraded the motor in my car, which you get to do like a real RC car - pull out the old one, pop in the new one that your tech left for you on the workbench. Change the wheels while you're at it just because!
It controls nicely so far, but i have a suggestion to mimic pistol grip. The trigger already works for throttle, and the thumbstick (WMR) works well for steering similat to a classic dual joystick RC controller - but if you could rotate the other hand to steer the car as you do with a typical pistol grip, that would add to the immersion, with or without a controller avatar in view.
Hope the dev keeps up on this - there is a ton of possibilities in the RC world. Dirt, Drag, Nitro, etc...
Note: Had no problems in WindowsMR with this.
Very good RC racing game with a lot of content for little money! I didn't expect the Vive-controllers to be a good solution to steer a RC car, but this game proves me wrong - it is indeed a lot of fun and easy to learn!
However, I'd be more than happy to spend more money for this game if the following issues were addressed: [ review updated after first update to game ]
[ Fixed in first update! 1) Please add some sounds to the racing cars. Even if it is just a standard bzzzzzz-sound with spatial audio it would add a great part to the game! ]
2) Please add a menu to select which track to drive.
3) Please add some measurements for the lap and total time and at least a local high score. The CPU-controlled opponents are nice, but it would add a lot to the replay value if you could race against your own best time.
4) Please add an option to restart an ongoing race, if you feel like you screwed up too much and want to restart.
5) There seems to be a penalty if you do not stay on the track. It would be nice if the checkpoints/zones could be visualized and so you know in advance that you missed a checkpoint and not have to wait for the finishing line to figure out whether you get a penalty or not.
6) Please add the option to start the race from any position on the map. On some tracks I'd like to enjoy the race from a different position and needing to stand near the traffic light to start the race and teleport right after the start makes it unneccessary complicated.
[ Fully working, see clarification by Choon - you can really build your own "rocket on wheels"! 7) Tuning seems to be broken. On the screenshot on the storepage I see that the laptop can display different values for speed, accel and so on but in the game there are no such values and all chances to the RC car only change the visuals. However I like that you need to master a level to get access to some tuning kits! ]
[ Fixed in first update! 8) The visuals of the game are simplistic but are doing a great job. However it would be nice to add at least a blob shadow to the RC cars (with almost no performance impact) to add some sort of depth to the cars and they don't appear to be floating. ]
[ Fixed in first update! 9) Just a minor thing: Cube B has a bug: you get 3 starts for driving "3 laps", "3 laps" or "3 lap" and thus you get 3 stars just for driving 2nd on the first and only lap (I've got a screenshot if it helps to clearify what I mean). ]
Decent VR RC racing game for the price.
Only drawback is the silence during races, needs some car noises and maybe ambient sounds.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
So while everyone is getting Budget Cuts, this is low key the best deal on the Steam VR page. I was amazed at the amount of content and polish this game had at the price of .99 cents. My jaw is literally on the floor right now because I am so surprised by how good this game is. A lot of love and attention to detail went into this game. You can tell the dev is a fan of RC racing and just gets it as far as translating that experience into VR. Chun Y., whoever you are, amazing job dude!
So I've been playing for 30 minutes and I still don't know how many tracks this game has. I think I'm at 15 and counting. Each track, although there's only so many combinations you can make, feels different. The dev did a great job at varying the tracks little by little so that each one feels different. Some more than others, but you want to get to the next race just to see what's there.
Yes, there's ramps. Yes, there's straight oval loops. Yes there's obstacles. Yes, there are all kind of twists and turns. Even the crash physics are pretty good. You're obviously going for 1st place but the next race is already unlocked no matter what so that's a good decision by the dev, although, I wish there was a way to select a track from a list.
But that's not all. You can customize your RC racer. And they are not just cosmetic. You're not just painting your RC from blue to red ... the mods actually improve your performance. Whether it's that they go faster or they have better grip or better aerodynamics. And you feel those differences out on the race track so that it's not just the new race tracks that you're excited to race, but trying your new modified RC racer on that track.
The game ran smoothly for me. You can teleport around to get a different vantage point of your RC racer from a limited area on or near the track. The RC control felt perfect on the Oculus Touch Controllers, but I'm not sure how they would feel on the HTC Vive wands. Having that joystick really improves accuracy.
My critiques are pretty small. There are no leaderboards. That would be an awesome addition to this game. Also, there's very limited sounds within the game. I would have loved to hear the sound of the little engines racing around and an option for music.
Rate 8/10. If the above two requests are added, this would have been a 9/10. It's so much fun and a must download for any RC fan!
