My ̶m̶a̶n̶i̶f̶e̶s̶t̶o̶ Gunducky Industries++ review
Gunducky industries++ saved my life. My wife left me, both my kids got hit by a plane (seperate incidents, same plane) and my dog slapped me in the balls, all in the same day. That night I was ready to end it all. I poured my 37.6 cups of water, ready to drink them all to end my suffering, before I saw a notification “From your wishlist: Gunducky industries++ is on sale, check it out!” I postponed my plans and hurried to buy and launched Gunducky industries++. As I’m writing this review those cups are still sitting on my table, but I don’t want to drink them anymore. I don’t need my wife, I’m married to the gunduckies now, and I don’t care about my kids, I have the mosquitos and fish to keep me company, and I threw my dog into a river, I have the space ship now! He would never slap my balls! Overall like a 2.3/10, repetitive gameplay, levels are too long, save points aren’t frequent enough
Honestly, I like the idea of being able to hop inside a plane and shoot rubber ducks but that's where the good things end. The game is extremely boring and annoying, good luck if you're trying to get 100% since some of the enemies are positioned in such a way it's barely possible to shoot them all.
Gunducky Industries++ is an extremely badly made third person 3D arcade flyer/shooter slapped together with Unity, and really doing a great job at justifying the existence of the asset stores, because man, this is so bad I wished I was playing a Russian asset flip scam game. Controls are clunky, you use WASD to alter your facing as you fly, but the arrow keys magically move you up, down, left, right... it's super clunky. Why no mouse control? Pretty sure whoever developed this never saw a video game before and just read about one in a magazine once. Visuals are crap, too, the laughable grass texture on the sides of "hills"... really, really bad stuff here. And sure, everyone needs to learn how to make games if they want to be a game developer, but why launch this garbage on Steam? For profit?!??
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics.
The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the 1990s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Gunducky Industries++ is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend.
I actually found myself enjoying this game. There's enough of a story for you to understand you're returning to the factory. Bright, cheerful graphics and enemies such as hornet robots, cute ducky robots, jumping fish and more. Where I had trouble was the controls. WASD is your pitch and arrows to move. Space bar to fire.
Let's just say I'm super bad at that. I noticed it was hard for me to actually line up to hit the enemies but thankfully they can't fire very well either. Sometimes an enemy robot I passed would turn around to track me, only to obscure the screen, but other than that, I had fun for .49 cents USD.
There is some effort here but the game is just boring.
Everything feels like it is rolling through mollasses.
Enemies pose very little threat, shooting at them feels pointless.
