This is the first Ace combat game I seriously played after trying one many years ago on the PS2... It's simply a really fun arcade jet fighting simulator that does'nt go towards realism but more on the fun side which is perfect for most as realistic sims are extremely difficult and you will not have fun most of the time. I used to love planes and jets as a kid and used to draw some of my favourites like the F-22 Raptor,but I lost interest over the years growing up for some reason. This game literally reignited my love for these beautiful and deadly machines so I am grateful to these devs for the passion they have put into making this game as it is clearly evident they are into aviation and they put all their effort into making it a great experience....
I really enjoyed it but now that I'm done the campaign I feel like there's nothing left to do since I don't really enjoy pvp. I wish there was a solo or even co-op arcade mode or wave survival mode. I'd play the heck out of that kind of mode in this type of game.
Great game! Short campaign though. And, unfortunately, almost zero players online as of Jan 2025, so no multiplayer. But still a great game!
Has some very bad & frustrating mission design choices that make you wish for a "screw it let me skip this dumb design mission" button. Beside that, it's ok, get this on sales, the base game is enough of experience.
I beat the campaign, S-Ranked a couple missions, and played some multiplayer. It's not terrible, but I came away disappointed.
Good:
- The plane combat can be fun
Ok:
- Mission structure is all over the place in terms of enjoyability. I've felt little-to-no need to go back and replay missions, and several just felt like a chore.
Bad:
- The tech tree and parts system never really felt engaging. Maybe that's on me for randomly picking the "Eastern" tree which seems to just be a thousand Sukhois variants that don't seem to behave very differently from one-another.
- There's a couple penultimate fights where the strategy seems to just wait until your enemy levels-off every so often. It ends up being unengaging.
- There's another fight where it's capped around story progression, as told through com chatter. You may have landed 5 missiles on the enemy, but those don't count, as you need to let everyone get through their voicelines first.
- You'll eventually end up skipping every cutscene and mission briefing.
Already finished this once on my Playstation but the gameplay has me coming back once again on pc, highly recommend
A worthy buy as always. Ace Combat just dont miss. I have been a fan since i got to play Ace Combat Zero on PS2 years ago, i also played a little of Ace Combat 5 (mostly watching my dad play). AC7 still has that thrill of soaring in the sky, beautifully maneuvering and downing enemies, the same as back then. The stories are fascinating as always.
For those who are fans of Ace Combat series, its a must buy, especially when its on sale. For those who are into aircraft, this is also a worthy buy. A good introduction into aircraft theme for those who are not a fan but interested in the game
Graphic wise, its good. Not the intricately detailed game, but beautiful enough to captivate your eyes, especially the lighting. They are definitely making it so that i can be played in a lower spec computers
Gameplay is easy to learn yet hard to master. Its friendly for those who are new into the genre but still fun for the avid fans of the series
Music and the sounds are also amazing. I personally like the Daredevil title

Ace Combat is a cult classic and I was so ecstatic when Bandai Namco released a new installment of the game. This new installment stays true to the previous titles with similar arcade fighter jet simulation and builds on it with more modern elements, including drones and other experimental future technology that I don't want to spoil here. The story is just as emotional as the previous titles in this series and I always appreciate hearing the other pilots in my squadron banter. It draws the player in and keeps you hooked to the story until it is over. The game runs very well and the graphics are decent. The soundtrack is also epic. The only gripe I have with the game is it doesn't feel long enough, you can complete all the missions in about 12-13 hrs. Luckily there are many different planes to try and some multiplayer modes that I did not really care for. But there is some replay ability for the game if you just feel like you have to have more of it. I can't justify paying $60 for a game you can beat in a weekend, but it is definitely worth picking up during a sale.
realism nowhere to be seen but at least I can go mach 10 in a darkstar and dog on some moron in an A-10 while some drone from 2097 is on my 6 o'clock 10/10
If you’ve ever wanted to play Top Gun but without Tom Cruise stealing your thunder, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is your game. It’s part fighter jet simulator, part soap opera, and all chaos in the skies. You’ll find yourself pulling Gs while dodging missiles, yelling Fox Two like a wannabe Maverick, and then crashing because you got distracted by the weather. Yes, the WEATHER. It’s gorgeous and will absolutely kill you.
The plot? Something about rival nations, betrayals, and a space elevator. Honestly, it’s like Game of Thrones but with jets instead of dragons. And the voice acting? Chef’s kiss. Every character delivers their lines like they’re auditioning for a Shakespeare play about aerial dogfights.
TL;DR: You’ll either become an ace pilot or eject straight into a thunderstorm, but either way, it’s ridiculously fun. Just don’t fly into the mountains. They don’t move.

good game but damn it drives me nuts when youre playing a game on PC that just shows Xbox controls so youre tapping each key on the keyboard to try and find out how get back to the lobby...
Huge let down. The combat AI is ridiculously predictable even at higher difficulties. The plot I did get through was weak and confusing. The biggest problem for me is not the third-person camera, which I know is supposed to help fight ground targets, the biggest obstacle for me was the reticle and HUD which were an authentic military-green but unlike any sim or real life display the HUD is so thin and DULL that it gets lost in cloud-cover which you frequently fight under, in or above. This makes dogfighting hard on the eyes and personally it gave me a headache in 30 minutes. Such an easy-to-spot fuck up and no dev found it problematic in a dogfighting game. Shame.
very good for getting into aviation games with fighter jets, I played originally on a console for a few hundred hours and now im here playing DCS, WT, etc etc very enjoyable campaign, flight is simple :D
(i dont suggest playing multiplayer due to the dlc ruining the experience)
The BEST Ace Combat game ever made! Hours of fun and challenges with superior graphics and controls.
One of the best arcade flight sim games I have ever played with the amazing and well-written story being the cherry on top. Yes, there might be some moments where you feel like quitting but trust me and keep moving ahead as you won't regret it. Do blind buy it if it is on sale!
in a game about air combat i did most the missions in an A-10 because it had the best air to ground armament. there is entirely too much ground targets in the game. the **incoming missile** alert is blaring the entire game to the point of meaninglessness, in addition your anti missile counter measures basically do nothing. seemingly there is no physics in the game as enemies ignore them, additionally having a fast plane is actually a trap as most enemies are sitting at stall speeds while you fly around them. there are allied AI, they serve no purpose as they dont really kill anything, they kinda run distraction but thats irrelevant as the enemies dont chase you anyway, they just missile spam and hover. the story is confusing because all the countries names sound the same, nothing really gets explained and shit just seems to happen so there can be a mission. the longer the game went the more i began to resent it.
Do you remember the old Ace Combat games from the PS2 era? Well, this game is exactly that. For better or worse, it's still exactly the same game just with modern graphics.
It's not innovative in any shape or form, but if you are looking for simple, fun fighter action then you probably won't be let down.
I got this game for 6€ and for that price tag I recommend it. However I think that the original price of 60€ is absurd. 100€ for the "ultimate edition"? a straight up robbery.
Good military story game Recommended Game pad / Controller is Required for better maneuver and fly
Heard nothing but praise, decided to grab it on sale on a whim, and now I'm kicking myself for not playing this sooner. Just a really fun arcardey dogfighter set to great music and NPC teammates that gush about how cool you are. My only complaint was that it wasn't long enough.
Huge fan of Armored Core and wanted to see what the fuss is about with these games despite not being super into aviation; really easy game to pick up and the dogfights feel impactful and fast as hell. Great music and fun dialogue from an endearing cast sells the package further. Picked up for $6 which is an absolute steal.
I'm barely 12h into the game and every time my dishwasher beeps I start dodge rolling.
Highlight of the game so far: Destroying a bridge using missiles, while flying upside down, and proceeding to fly under said collapsing bridge.
This game makes you feel like a movie protagonist at all turns, cannot recommend it highly enough.
A great game bogged down with absolutely awful missions.
When you're allowed to dogfight and engage targets its great, really fun but they repeatedly ask themselves "whats the worst conditions we could possibly have for a mission?"
This wouldn't be so bad if it was once in a while or just a few missions but after mission 6 it feels like its every mission with a new and exciting way to frustrate you.
Its not even difficult things its just annoying and time wasting things like escorting a ally plane while dealing with Sams that wont show up on radar or chase down 20 trucks in a sandstorm where your insturments are worthless.
Doable but just not fun. Get the game on sale cause its got actually fun times to be had but the campaign mission structure is just designed to piss you off.
Awesome game I love the story the combat and the combat really made me feel like I am flying with my tail on fire. I enjoyed every single moment while I was in game. I would highly recommend this game to all those people who like airborne combat and all. The graphics and environment everything looks great and If you want a immersive experience then I would highly recommend the first person combat style. Solid 10/10 to the game from me. Really looking forward towards the next game.
It's a lot of fun, both cool and stupid at the same time, and you can fly Top Gun planes in it.
Soundtrack's bangin' too, wish they'd put it for sale on Steam already.
The discounts the goes on nowadays are very much worth it if you're on the fence about buying.
Like a lot of reviews say, it unfortunately doesn't support most flight stick/ HOTAS models out of the box.
If you have a Logitech X52 Pro HOTAS like I do, you can go to Set Up USB Game Controllers in Windows, select the X52 and open Properties, as long as you have that window open the game should work, it has a whole control scheme built-in, but no re-mapping. This *might* work for other HOTAS models, IDK.

I have loved this series, and Ace Combat 7 would probably be my favorite if it were not for the amount of cussing. This game has more cussing than I would like, but aside from that, this is an incredible game.

The graphics are great, the gameplay is pretty fun but not super realistic, if you can get it for 20 euros/dollars/pounds whatever, I'd definetly reccomend that you buy it, provided of course that you think fighter jets are cool
it's a frustrating game at times but the pain is really worth it for the expertly done gameplay accompanied with a handful of beautiful soundtrack
Not really a big fan of flying games/sims, but for this I'll make an exception.
Missions are 20-30 minutes long, and often have unpredictable "twists" that end up forcing you to restart from scratch. This is artificial bloat, and it's terrible.
i was looking for a game to fill the armored core 6 void, this is it. The only thing different between them is the fact you're flying a jet and the cut scenes show actual people.

one of the missions in this game is literally to fly through a canyon to avoid enemy radar(top gun 2 may or may not have taken that idea)

pretty good game it is must buy if its on sale story is interesting and flight mechanics are satisfying overall ima give solid 8/10 truly enjoyable game. [side note: even my dad liked it :D]
The game is superb with its high graphics and very good controls but its not easy at all even in easy campaign mode , i have completed both easy and normal campaign modes .

A well written story with just the right amount of time spent in campaign with the mechanics making it a delightful experience across the board, some missions were hell at first but that made the completion more satisfying, nothing beats the amount of hyping up that the other characters give you, including Bandog in his own weird way.

Absolutely unplayable on PC, very hard to change keybinds since the settings don't give you much information on what you are changing. You need to do some manual trial and error in order to configure the settings right and even then it's still unplayable because of the in-game mouse sensitivity. Do not play if you don't have a controller.
Gameplay is a lot of fun. But the storyline is cringe AF. Luckily you can skip.
Since I was a child it was a great game and still.... Now it crashed all time so I uninstall now but still a very good game

Bought the game last night and I already have 12 hours logged, it is one of those few games that pulls you into the story so deeply that you truly don't want to stop playing until you've beaten the game.
Difficulty matters as far as how challenging your experience is, but even the learning curve is not so difficult that it makes the game unbeatable or unplayable.
Graphics are easily ran at a high FPS rate, my MSI easily allows for 300+ with a 4070 and i7 14th gen.
This game is worth every penny on sale, and even if I were to buy it full price I have no doubt I'd still be smiling just as much as I am now while playing.
Great game. Ace Combat is still as fun as the first few arcade games released.
I don't know anything about Ace Combat, I just want to hear some satisfying afterburner sounds, feedback on destroying enemy jets with missiles and also the beauty of jet engine sounds but they were so dampened and instead only chatter and music is so damn loud.
"yEa tHiS Is ArCadE gAmE" so? even an arcade game never taking away the main purpose.
peak except 2 4 and 5 are like perfect games and are still better. on par wit AC zero imo. AC is my favorite game series but as a non fan this game still rocks
