Nice.
Was the best out of the series
I love this game! It perfectly embodies the fusion between the Bridge Constructor and Portal franchises. The gameplay is really cool—challenging enough to make you think without being frustrating.
What I particularly appreciate is the freedom in solving the more complex levels. There isn’t just one solution, allowing you to experiment and create your own methods to succeed. This is a real asset for this type of game, where the objective is usually well-defined.
The DLC adds 30 extra levels and introduces the ability to create portals, a feature that wasn’t available in the base game. It’s a fantastic addition that enhances the experience even further.
I highly recommend this game! Expect around 40 hours to complete it and between 50 and 100 hours to achieve 100% completion.
meh. it's a fine game, but doesn't deserve the legendary name of portal.
If you are looking for a bridge builder with a twist, this'll do.
6/10
yes
its great, there isnt much to add.
I love sending test subjects to their demise :3
The Portal version of a bridge-building game. If you ask whether it's good—meh! It feels a bit generic—a neutral game.
If you like puzzle games definitely go for it!
This game will test the fine line between "IM ACTUALLY SO SMART!!!" and "I dont know what im doing"
Good Game
good (dont mind my new hour =D)
better then poly bridge
BBRIDGE GO BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I bought it thinking it would be a lot of fun... which it was, but only for 2 hours of gameplay.
It's just not my style of games.
For some reason I couldn't get it to properly work on the steam deck, the d-pad didn't work, and it even when i got it to work, i kept finding myself drawn back to poly bridge, even without portals still works better.
Not sure why everyone has such a hard-on for gladus in the comments. This is not a great bridge builder game. I haven't even got to the annoying later levels.
If you intend to complete the achievements, don't buy this game.
Buy at sharp discount, play the first half of levels, then uninstall.
The initial levels are fun. That's why most positive reviews have played ~4h imo. Or if you don't go for the achievements and just want to shoot stuff through portals, it's probably good for a couple of hours.
Each level has the first run where you need to complete it with 1 cart. Then a second run with multiple carts.
In order for the multiple cart run to work, you'll spend half an hour fiddling about each of the later levels trying to get it to work. And every time you move any of the bridges, it's likely to break the rest of what you've built. At no point do I feel I'm in control and slowly moving towards a better solution (as you do in Poly Bridge, for example). You just keep randomly fiddling about until something happens to work. Infuriating to the extent where I'm now questioning whether I really enjoyed the first 20 levels in the first place.
Hey look, buddy. I'm an engineer, that means I solve problems.
Not problems like "What is beauty?", 'cause that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy.
I solve practical problems!
is nice
i murdered many under payed workers
TL;DR - 7/10 - Fun little engineering puzzle game with VERY sensitive physics that feels authentic to the Portal universe. Not a must play, but recommended if you like puzzles and especially if you are a fan of Portal.
And now... additional comments that were not developed by Aperture Science Simulations Artificial Intelligence or A.S---oh... Humor Core. You devilish little thing you. It looks like someone is going to have to spend some time in the Aperture Science Artificial Intelligence Behavior Discouragement Vat...
PORTAL: SUPPLEMENTAL
Bridge Constructor: Portal is an enjoyable supplemental to the Portal universe and a pretty fun engineering puzzle game. It is part of the Bridge Constructor franchise... of which I have only played this installment because... I like Portal. As such, I can't compare it to the other Bridge Constructor titles and can only speak to this game's strengths and weaknesses. Story-wise, it's mostly light-hearted, dystopian, evil corporate/AI overlord snark, which I enjoyed, though I wouldn't necessarily recommend this game for its story. It does feature the wonderful voice work of Ellen McLain revising her role as GLaDOS, and that alone made it worth the price for me, but I am also a huge Portal fanboy who squeed when I heard her in Pacific Rim. Your mileage will vary. More objectively, the story is fun, but ultimately doesn't rise above being mildly amusing. It does have a lovely Portal theme which fans of Portal should get at least a smile out of.
GAMEPLAY
This is a construction puzzle game in the vein of Lemmings.
That means nothing to you unless you are an afficionado of video game history. Essentially, you build bridges using a map's provided anchor points to allow test vehicles to navigate a chamber of obstacles and eventually escape. Initially, you will only need to get one vehicle through the test chamber, but completing this task will unlock a mode that will allow you to get multiple vehicles through the test chamber, and in so doing, you will find that you have to completely erase and rebuild your entire solution because the structural stresses are much more forgiving of one vehicle than they are of 6-14 vehicles. It's not just a game of avoiding traps, you have to give consideration to physics, strength of construction, and vehicle momentum, sometimes staggering or increasing the movement of your vehicles with inclines to avoid having them crash into each other. It is very much a game of trial and error.
PHYSICS AND GAME INTEGRITY
Beware, though. The in-game physics are VERY sensitive and demanding. Even a slight addition to any structure can cause it to bounce just slightly differently, screwing up your entire build. At times, I found myself wishing the physics were just a little less sensitive (though it was the good kind of frustration that comes with trial and error puzzles). Also, at times, the game's physics engine can cause vehicles to get stuck in weird places, particularly at joints on bridges. This is not a frequent issue, though I did encounter it a few times as the puzzles got more complex. I also had a glitch on one map where a test vehicle got stuck on a 90 degree vertical wall upside down, and I have no clue what it was snagged on because there was nothing on the 90 degree vertical wall FOR it to get stuck on. Maybe GLaDOS slathered it with the Aperture Science 100% All Natural Artificial Glue Substitute and didn't bother to tell the test supervisor so that she could test the tester. Or maybe it was Humor Core...
THIS GAME HAS DLC CONTENT
I haven't bought the DLC yet, though I just noticed it's on sale. Maybe I'll come back to this and write a separate review for the DLC. Do know though, if you're an achievement hunter, a good chunk of the achievements are tied to the DLC. So you'll need to buy the DLC if you want those achievements.
OVERALL
I do recommend the game. It's a pleasant little fart-around trial and error puzzle-game in the vein of Lemmings. Using the Portal theme made me check out an installment in a franchise I probably would have ignored otherwise, and I may give some of the other installments a chance. 7/10. Enjoyable, but not a must play. Definitely recommend if it's on mega sale. Solid recommendation if it's not on sale.
Bridge Constructor Portal
Has a total of 5 trading cards.
bridge
Do not get me wrong, this is a great concept with great aesthetics.
But I very well know the difference between a skill issue, and the games fault. I know when to blame myself if i know what i could have done differently.
The game has very blaring issues that makes the game almost impossible to 100%.
There isnt alot of leeway to try your own solutions to the levels given. You nearly have to be pitch perfect every time, or else everything just crumbles. This mostly applies to the later levels, especially if you wish to complete the game with all the convoys completed. Everytime i feel like i have the perfect solution, i take 3 steps back to a part that never even had one issue. Then there's an issue where sometimes the Forklifts tires would get stuck under the roads.
Its just frustrating. This GAME is frustrating. As much as i want to enjoy this game, because i love the portal series, Its just not fun to play nor enjoy when its this finicky.
When its on sale for 99 cents, yea sure you can try it out. But don't expect to 100% the game.
If you want more portal then play this, sure it's more complex and it's 2d but it still incorporates portals
So fun to send employees directly into the pits of hell
Its pretty good:)
very gud
GLaDOS’s wit gives me so much joy. And Solving each puzzle is incredibly satisfying, especially when your crazy contraptions finally work. Pure brilliance!
I didn't have to build my bridge so that my drivers launched into a giant death ray...but I did it anyway, for science! If you like construction sims but you always thought they lacked wry humor and blatant workplace violations, this game is for you.
this game is so good and recommended
Very fun watching test subjects fall in the toxic goo. Now I know why Glados was addicted to testing...
its fun
Funny forklift man die
My biggest issue this game is the inconsistency. For a bridge game, having a physics engine that does the same thing every time is vital, and I had constant issues with random failures. From what I can tell, the physics of this game are affected by the last node placed, which resulted vehicles flipping completely different ways based on changes I made to a bridge they haven't reached yet. I did have some more fun in the portal proficiency levels, as they felt like there were more options for clever solutions compared to the base levels.
It took me about 30 hours to beat this game and I 100% it at the same time.
this game is great and filled with mind playing tracks
have too small of a brain for this
I was such a good engineer that all the bridges collapsed and all the people died.
I recommend the game!
Прикольно , но трудно.
Re-skin of Bridge Constructor for Portal fans.
It's ok, not great. Buy it on sale or something if you like bridges.. or portals...
No cake.
dlc required for place portal, workshop no have dlc-only maps, cant place portal :(
I played it on my phone at some point and forgot how good this actually is.
I recommend it to anyone who likes Portal/Valve humour and mainly anyone who likes these kind of bridge games
