quite fun if you have patience, sort of a rage game but if you flip you can pick up with your other trucks 7.8/10

At first I wasn't sure about this. But then I kinda learned what I was doing and played it with a friend and I had a good time. But if it wasn't on sale I probably would have refunded it

Honestly good game, but i don't get why when u flip over u cant use the winch that is electric but, other then that i recommend u buy it.

I purchased MudRunner expecting an immersive off-road simulation, only to be met with endless frustration. My HORI RWO racing wheel fails miserably in this game. Instead of being recognized as a dedicated racing controller, the game stubbornly treats it like a generic gamepad, rendering all the essential steering functions useless.

I’ve tried everything - switching modes, updating drivers, and even employing virtual joystick software - but nothing makes a difference. It’s clear that the developers either neglected or couldn’t care less about proper support for specialized hardware. As a result, what should be an exciting driving experience, turns into suffering.

Thank you for killing a fantastic game with the lack of support!

MudRunner is a brilliantly crafted off-road simulator that refines everything Spintires introduced, delivering a deeper, more immersive experience. With enhanced physics, tighter controls, and stunning environmental detail. The sense of isolation, the weight of each vehicle, and the challenge of navigating through thick mud, rivers, and rugged terrain create an experience that's both meditative and demanding.

What makes MudRunner stand out is its minimalism—no flashy UI or hand-holding. You rely on your map, your instincts, and your understanding of the terrain. Every journey feels like an expedition, and every delivery is a hard-earned victory. It's slow, it's dirty, and it’s absolutely captivating.

Its successor, SnowRunner, takes everything MudRunner did right and cranks it up. With massive maps, deeper vehicle customization, dynamic snow and ice physics, and a broader variety of missions and terrain, SnowRunner is a worthy evolution. Still, MudRunner retains a raw, grounded charm that makes it a must-play for fans of off-road realism.

TLDR: Its successor, SnowRunner, expands the experience with larger maps, snow and ice mechanics, and more content—but MudRunner still stands strong as a must-play for fans of slow, strategic driving sims.

Chill Drives, Minimal Challenge The game offers a relaxed driving experience through tundra and muddy terrains, but lacks meaningful challenges. The starter truck is surprisingly overpowered, capable of handling every obstacle with ease, making upgrades and other vehicles feel unnecessary.

The driving mechanics lean toward simplicity—just throw it into low gear, enable diff and all-wheel drive, and slowboat through anything without a winch. Even manual throttle management seems pointless when the starter truck plows through everything, fully loaded, without breaking a sweat.

While the vehicle selection offers a nostalgic Soviet aesthetic, the lack of information on specs like horsepower or other stats leaves you choosing trucks purely based on appearance. On the bright side, the map integrates smoothly with wheel controls, unlike certain other games like Snowrunner.

Good game if you like moving slower than molasses and getting stuck after your vehicle tips over

So far it's good. Played 9 hours. Graphics decent compared to Ghost Recon Wildlands which is better. Realistic driving simulation, as in, the trucks actually seem like their in the mud etc. Only thing that seems weird is the mapping node system, not horrible just odd. Playable with old school 360 wired controller, that's what I use.

Hard game, gets boring at bits, i want to get snow runner next comment if it's worth it or not please.

Often games happen in a real-like world but you as a player need to force yourself to behave like you would in real life (eg. driving according to road laws in GTA). Due to mudrunners physics engine the way to do things is pretty close to how you would do it in real life. It's very relaxing, scenery is nice and it's minimalistic in a good sense. Very much recommended

This game holds up surprisingly well, and still looks pretty good for it's age. It's not a graphical masterpiece, but the vehicle physics, terrain deformation, and water physics more than make up for that. If you set your brightness as low as they want you to, you'll be needing to use your headlights to navigate at night, which brings a new level of challenge to the maps.

With the various maps available on both Casual and Hardcore difficulty and the challenges that each have 3 bonus objectives you can attain, there's plenty to challenge yourself with.

Definitely worth the money, especially if you're a fan of SnowRunner or either of the spinoff games (Expeditions and soon RoadCraft).

First of all, this game is a simulation where your goal is to transport your load to a specific location without getting stuck in the mud. Before that, you can explore the map to unlock hidden vehicles and garages located at key points. This makes the game easier. The game really requires a lot of patience. Find the right vehicle, and use the Q and E keys for better movement. The V key is used for the winch, and you can use it if you get stuck. The game offers two difficulty options: Normal and Hardcore. In the Hardcore mode, you have to find the logs yourself and load them onto the truck using another vehicle. Honestly, it’s a great challenge for those who enjoy difficulty. Casual players, on the other hand, might prefer the normal game mode.

The graphics are somewhat outdated considering the game's release date. I also didn't like the coloring method used in the game. However, the forests, streams, and mountains are well-designed. The day and night cycles look good in the game, and the damage taken by vehicles is detailed. Overall, apart from a few things, I can say the graphics are fine for a simulation game.

The vehicle sounds in the game are average, not very good. The music is more similar to those in other truck games, giving me an American vibe. I didn't like the in-game music and turned it off. As for the in-game sounds, you shouldn't expect too much from them.

The game is made up of levels (maps), so it doesn't have a story. You are a truck driver, and your goal is to pick up loads and deliver them to designated locations. While doing this, you need to overcome certain challenges, but there is no storyline in the game.

Simulation games are usually difficult, and this is one of the challenging ones. The game has 'Normal' and 'Hardcore' modes, and trying the Hardcore mode on your first attempt might be overwhelming. Use the Q and E keys on non-paved roads. If your vehicle gets stuck in the mud, use the winch (V). If the in-game vehicles don't satisfy you, you can try tons of vehicle mods available.

@Developers in the loading 2 tests there is not enough fuel there, 30l arrived without a trailer + drove into a hill with a trailer for the second time and dried up 300m to the sawmill, and if you load the game session immediately after 1 trip, then you will dry out on half the map ulntank altf4

It was a bad experience. The game crashed immediately after i tried to start the trucks engine.

Very fun and addictive game about driving in the mud. Mods are better than stock content, and community content is hella fun to play.

EDIT: Saber Interactive is a predatory publisher and removed the original Spintires (2014) game developed by Oovee from Steam, with some claim that they themselves started the Spintires franchise. I don't know how truthful this is but the original game is not for sale. Because of this I have left a negative review and do not recommend you buy their product

P.S. Recommended for people who likes vehicles especially heavy machinery and tired of competitive games.

So as someone with almost 1k hours in Snowrunner, going back to give Mudrunner a try was... A very mixed experience. On the one hand, the physics simulation of the trucks and the dirt and mud clinging to your truck are better than in Snowrunner, but on the other hand every single level in the game consists of the exact same objective, with the only change being slight restrictions on the equipment you get, such as crane attachments. This leads to the game starting to feel a little tedious once you've finished the first few maps.

That said though, I would, especially if you're a Snowrunner fan, recommend picking Mudrunner up and giving it a try, even if it's just to see the roots of where it's sequel came from.

Your enemies are the relentless terrain, fading daylight, dwindling fuel, and the constant threat of losing your cargo on a washed-out trail. Each failure is frustrating, yet strangely meditative, and when you finally complete that first brutal delivery, it feels like triumph against the impossible.

Like Death Stranding, MudRunner turns simple cargo delivery into an atmospheric, high-stakes sandbox journey. Use your winch, wit, skill and some heavy towing support if needed. Also has co-op that I’m yet to try. With a vast library of stock and community-made maps and vehicles—from Soviet workhorses to American big rigs—you’ll find endless challenges in this slow, beautiful, and punishing world. Never thought I’ll spend that much time playing this game

good stuff, kinda upset you can't see each others lights on multiplayer.

Great game. A lot to do. Navigation can get tough but that is part of the challenge. Really enjoyed the game play. My only wish is that there were vehicle upgrades (or more) so that you could improve the abilities of each vehicle. Something like a custom shop you could go to and pay (in game money, not real money) for modifications and upgrades.

Doesn't support TrackIR, isn't compatible with SimHub, my handbrake is detected as "pulled" when it is released - with no option to "inverse" it.

These are all quality of life features, whose lack severely limits the immersion.

But hey, at least VR is supported - as a separate game I can pay for all over again, if I want to.

Its really sad that I am only just now discovering this game because its a masterpiece! I love it! 10 of 10 easily! The physics are really good and the modding community or whats left of it are incredible! Shout out to SmarOneNine for helping me and making me feel welcome! Now with that said Its crazy to me that this game has been out since 2017 and its still 50x better then that crap game Snowrunner! And its 100x times better then that even crappier game Expeditions! And now Saber are doing some dumb sounding Roadblock game or whatever its called (insert thumbs down here) Hey Saber do yourself a favor and just make Mudrunner 2 or Spintires 2.

I played SnowRunner before I played MudRunner. And I did that on my PS4. But one day I got a laptop and decided I never took MudRunner seriously enough so I’d give it another try. Through Steam I now have access to mods, map creators, and multiple controller layouts. I love playing MudRunner. The gameplay can definitely get repetitive but if you like off-roading and big trucks, you can keep yourself entertained for a LONG time. Now once I upgrade systems I will be getting SnowRunner because this laptop is NOT that powerful
