Sky Force Reloaded

This game is so bad, I'm amazed at the insane number of positive reviews, in fact, I'm amazed that a game like this has so many reviews in the first place, when there are hundreds of shooters that are infinitely better in every respect with less than 10% of the public. Seeing the acceptance of this game here makes me wonder if the average Steam consumer has a brain in the first place. I mean, Natsuki Chronicles has 175 reviews, and only 83% of them are positive, while this piece of s#it has 2314 reviews at the moment, 93% of them positive. I used Natsuki Chronicles as an example because that game also has a lot of grind involved in the story mode, but unlike this garbage called Sky Force Reloaded, that game's grind is teaching you how to play a shooter with some depth.

I only played for about an hour and a half and gave up. If you look at the negative reviews, most people are complaining about the grind, but this is only a superficial problem. The real problem is that the gameplay is terrible, the first ship seems to have 2 seconds of input lag, but that's just how it works. You'll unlock ships that are a little less horrible to control later on, so the gameplay being bad is part of the design.

The only positive I can see is that the 3D graphics are decent, which is rare in this genre. That's it. For the rest, even Xevious, released in 1982 and one of the first shooters of this style ever made, is light years ahead of this disaster in terms of game design.

Really great top down shoot em up with nice modern graphics. The pacing is mild and I love that. So that you can chill and enjoy it and still get a kick out of it. The enemies look dope and the shooting action is really fulfilling. The boss fights are a fair challenge. Might not be the greatest challenge for seasoned shoot em up players. But for an average player like me this game is fantastic ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is a very solid schmup. It's an absolute steal at the prices it goes on sale for.

I really like this game but it is annoying that it forces you to keep playing levels you already beat to win medals and advance in the game. Feel like medals should be optional achievements rather than a requirement to unlock each level.

Overall I still enjoy playing it though. Used to play this on my Xbox all the time also.

Sky Force Reloaded is a fantastic sequel to Sky Force Anniversary! While I prefer the artstyle of its predecessor, Reloaded offers faster gameplay, improved mechanics, more levels and additional unlockables. I’d say this series is the most fun I’ve ever had in the shoot 'em up genre!

I played on mobile when it first came out! I love this game on mobile, but the UI and control scheme is just so so so much better on a computer... and multiplayer!!!!! 10/10 game, I really hope the devs are still interested in supporting the franchise with more levels or a new game. I'd buy.

Like the first Sky Force game, this is a fun vertical shooter. Reminds me of the classic arcades from the 90's like Raiden. This isn't pixel art. It has great graphics. Lots of replayability.

played this game for hours back then on ps4 - bought it again - runs super smooth, looks great and a lot of upgrades to grind for. multiple level, bosses and difficulties.

One of the best shooters I've played, though I do with the upgrade system was a bit more expansive.

Played this on my phone ages ago.

I saw it on a discount and went to refresh my memory. The game is GOOD. There is some repetition (as in roguelites) but its not tedious. There are a lot of stages and upgrades so the difficulty curve is up to you. Later stages become really difficult.

All in all, a classic and a banger.

Involves grinding but the actual gameplay is quite fun, so it is ok to run a stage multiple times

Along with Sky Force: Reloaded, one of the best euroshmups out there, period. Very meditative, with high replayability value, both on PC and mobile.

Old style game with its charm. Worth the 9,99 EUR I spent on it.

It's a decent shoot'em up similar to classic games, definitely NOT a bullet hell though.
It's more of an incremental one as well, you gain stars for upgrades and you can replay old stages for which you also unlock higher difficulties. Your first and foremost challenge will be memorising the stages though as that is crucial to fulfilling your objectives. Going back and forth between previous stages could still be too repetitive for some, but I would say there is enough variation you can get with the various ships and other improvements.

At the end of the day I can't recommend it though, unless you can live with not getting all achievements or have a really high threshold for frustration. If you really want to play, play the first one or for this game I'd rather recommend the mobile version. I was already NOT looking forward to the latter stages because they are just ridiculously hard. Though I get that this might be an improvement that players may have criticised on the regular Sky Force, I don't see that as a plus. Maybe I'm wrong but I don't recall some of the issues I was having with this version from the android one. The one that led to me quitting the game right now and leaving this review being that in one of the latter stages enemies with screen stretching lasers show up quicker and already shoot even when not on the screen with hardly a chance to react. Yes, the game lives off of you memorising everything but some of it is just too ridiculous.

This is definitely my favourite top down shooter - excellent graphics, excellent music, great and varied level design.

The ship upgrades work well and the ships are also nice and varied. As others have said this is not bullet hell - there are indeed plenty of bullets but they are avoidable with skilful manoeuvring.

Make me remember when this game available at Old Phone.
Nice graphic and sounds too. The only challenge is the grinding star points and how to keep survive till the end of level when obtain such card or component.

And, since it's playable in Ryzen 5500U laptop + 16GB LPDDR4, it's quite worth it for me.

YOUR HITBOX SHOULD NOT EQUAL THE SHIP. Even ignoring all the meta-upgrade slop that delays getting to the real game, the aforementioned sin is unforgivable.

An excellent follow up to the updated Sky Force Anniversary game.
Plays similarly to the previous game with added perks and effects.
Runs on modest hardware without issues, and can give you hours re-playability.
Highly recommend getting this as a bundle with Anniversary.

Despite the fact that I bought this game at full price even though that, usually, you always wait for special discounts before buying the game that you've been eyeing for a long while, especially if it's well-received by the majority of the reviews, let's just say that it was worth it. Or maybe I was just desperate at that time that I didn't bother waiting for this game to be discounted on a special limited sale period, because I genuinely enjoyed the key aspects that solidifies the identity of this game. I've been playing the OG mobile version around 6-7 years ago until ID decided to release the Steam version of the game, much like its prequel, under a price tag. The contents of the game is hella expansive as what I've expected when I first played the mobile version, from the diverse array of planes (9 planes specifically, start plane included) that you can collect parts for and use them to see which play style you prefer the most, with each plane having their own strengths, weaknesses, and niches, upgrading your plane with specific weapons and power-ups in order to challenge the higher stages along the way, more main and bonus stage levels you can grind through compared to the prequel with each of their own fun, unique, and challenging boss fights (with the exception of some stages that don't have any boss fights at all mainly due to level design reasons and lore, ig), and many more. For years since this game came out, I've been eternally coping that ID will somehow make a comeback to create a third sequel because the way the final stage ended when you defeated the boss as the credits segment rolled leaves so much to be desired as it definitely felt anticlimactic as a lore guy myself. I'll never know what they're up to these days since it's been more or less 8 years since the last Sky Force installment for the mobile version and exactly 7 years for the Steam release, which is the very same game I'm giving a review right now. I at least never heard about them making other games, so I really hope that they're still doing fine right now, whatever the peeps at ID are up to. With all that being said, if you're into the Shoot-'em-up genres, especially games with awesome level design, graphics, OSTs, and pretty flexible in-game content and features as a means to buff up your planes if you care about clearing the different difficulty levels for each stage, this game is a solid choice.

First off, this is NOT a bullet hell shmup, ignore the tag. Anyone classifying it as such has never played a bullet hell game.

That being said, it is a solid SHMUP with polish and attention to detail. Highly recommended.

A stunning new game in one of my most nostalgically series. The graphics are beautiful, the gameplay is enjoyably yet painfully difficult, and I love the concept of different planes and the card radar minigame. The mouse controls are infuriatingly clunky, but I guess 1-1 sensitivity would ruin the game, oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
