The ultimate quick play game if you enjoy twinstick action. Most of the quickness comes from the brutal difficulty yes, but it really is a no frills, pure action kind of deal. Plant, Robot and Crystal are the best characters if you're new, Rebel, Roids and Horror when you're a little more seasoned. Just my two rads

This is one of the classic rogue likes. I didn't get it at first. It's hard, but if you keep playing and dying you will get better. Finally getting those close to impossible achievements and feels very rewarding. Lastly ..just one more run.

This is only a positive review, because I respect the game and everything it has done in the genre, but oh boy has it not aged well. If you want to play it, please use the Ultra mod, sadly in that case you won't be able to unlock achievements. Overall, the base game is extremely repetitive. There are only like 10 good guns. Trying to 100% is unlocking the same 12 crowns for the 12 characters that play almost the same.

frustrating, but in a good way

I got this game on sale for a dollar years ago. I love the little characters you play as, they're all strange with cool abilities. The gunplay and melee is fast and satisfying. But this game is so damn hard.

I have some gold weapons, I have unlocked characters and skins, but only ever got 1 win (that's a 3% win rate after 300 runs) I keep playing I guess because I enjoy it and feel like I'm actually making progress in some way.

THIS GAME IS HARD! (potentially too hard to fully enjoy?) You die quick, get overwhelmed by enemies, explode. There's a lot to learn.

Probably a lot was written on this amazing game, but I'll add my humble experience too.

I have no idea why, but this is highly addictive.
Even tho it seems repetitive at times, my mind keep telling me this is just "training" and I enjoy it
no matter how many times I keep repeating the same levels.
Just noting that I'm still stuck behind the walls of level 4 and containing myself to a single character after
trying several of them...

The richness and the ability to develop my own strategy and really learning the game in depth
is just pure satisfaction, highly recommended.

THis is a great game made by some very good game designers. This is peak roguelike unlike the new rogueslop genre it has become. Gungeon is ass and boring. The gameplay is painstakingly slow.

But NUCLEAR THRONE is like getting adrenaline pumped into your veins for twenty minutes. You have EIGHT health by default. Each bullet does THREE damage. So many attacks instakill. You will constantly be close to death, yet you will feel alive because how FUN this GAME is.

In conclusion, if you like gungeon you should be ashamed.

This game is pure crack, they discovered the Fun Crystal deep in the mines and somehow turned it into a videogame. I have over 100 hours but I haven't even beat the game yet, it's so hard but never tedious or annoying. Probably the best roguelite ever made.

It's basically a run-based Hotline Miami with cooler guns and it's a bullet hell

Great game and even with 5 hours on it I still cant remember that the bosses spawn every third level without someone telling me so watch out for that. (Fuck Lil'Hunter)

This game is an exercise in pain, frustration, and futility. It has drained years off my life. I swear each time I boot up this game adds another gray hair.
And I love it.
And hate it.
Every death is simultaneously completely your own fault and GODDAMNIT WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GODDAMN [insert enemy that killed you here].
It is the most unforgiving, fast-paced, brutal roguelike I have ever experienced. I have only ever made it to L1 1-1. I will likely never get further. And I will never truly put this game down.

Nuclear Throne is roguelike gold, belongs on the same shelf as Binding of Isaac and Spelunky. Hard AF, but I keep coming back to it. Oh, and it's excellent in single player and multiplayer as well!

I highly recommend switching to the ntt_development beta branch if you don't mind not getting the achievements, it supports higher resolutions, different aspect ratios and has nice scaling options too.

I actually have over 460 hours combined from both the switch port and the time when epic had this for free a few years back, I still think this game is the best rougelike ever made and no other game has come close to how much fun I constantly have with this. I'm also glad that I bought this on steam since the 2023 beta lets the framerate go so high and in widescreen and it's been a game changer.

I have played this game for quite a time, both alone and a duo partner; either is a blast. The game only supports local coop between two players, and at least one player has to use a controller. There is so much content to explore – different weapons, characters, strategies.

Great game, runs on anything and amazing to just pick up and play whenever ur bored. Will guarantee you at least like 10 mins of enjoyment everytime you launch it.

Nuclear Throne just wins in almost every department. Good graphics, awesome soundtrack, and creative/fun gameplay. It's amazing how I can die repeatedly in this game and know it was actually my fault, unlike some other games where randomness or luck leads to my demise.

Quite possibly the best game ever created. The replayability is off the charts and it is one of those rogue-likes/rogue-lites that is based on skill, not on luck (like Dead Cells or Scourgebringer). Not gonna lie, this game is TOUGH but the stellar OST, variety of weapons, and uniqueness of the characters keeps me coming back to this game time and time again. Couldn't recommend it enough!!!

Easily in the top 5 of roguelikes. Replayability and pick up level are extremely high. Super easy to hop in and still challenging at all points. 100% recommend.

this game is full of so much arbitrary crap. I know that it's a cutesy roguelike trope to have things be hyper lethal and random, but these things end up being time wasters. It disrespects the player's skill to randomly spawn a portal next to an explosive car and do infinite damage.

The game did not initially recognize any controller inputs when booting on steam deck. like almost a dead ui the first time running.

I dont understand why this game is overrated for. I played many roguelike shooters but this one just aint for me. Most of the time Im dying in one hit due to explosions or the enemy getting a "lucky" one hit K.O. on me while trapped between a narrow hallway and a thousand bullets flying past me. Most of the upgrade cards you get dont even feel powerful either. Especially when most of the time you are getting one shot. Just feels pointless to me.

I can see how its fun because its hardcore and you make "winning" a long term goal but its very frustrating of how punishing it is for having a long reaction time or just bad level generation. I am glad I didnt get this game right away because now I know how painfully difficult it is. I like the shooty bang bang part, but I dont like being punished for things beyond my control.
