I FOCKING LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!
Great game, runs on anything and amazing to just pick up and play whenever ur bored. Will guarantee you at least like 10 mins of enjoyment everytime you launch it.
Nuclear Throne just wins in almost every department. Good graphics, awesome soundtrack, and creative/fun gameplay. It's amazing how I can die repeatedly in this game and know it was actually my fault, unlike some other games where randomness or luck leads to my demise.
A round of applause for Vlambeer and Jukio Kallio.
Final verdict: 9.5/10 [Exceptional]
nuclear throne more like radioactive sofa
i luv dis game still great in the big 25
Quite possibly the best game ever created. The replayability is off the charts and it is one of those rogue-likes/rogue-lites that is based on skill, not on luck (like Dead Cells or Scourgebringer). Not gonna lie, this game is TOUGH but the stellar OST, variety of weapons, and uniqueness of the characters keeps me coming back to this game time and time again. Couldn't recommend it enough!!!
ts game fye fam 100%
dont forget to enable dat beta build for 60 fps & 16:9 : - )
75 hours, more than 3 full days of my life in this game.
Still haven't won yet.
Evil game. Very evil.
The Throne is real.
Good luck. You will need it.
Easily in the top 5 of roguelikes. Replayability and pick up level are extremely high. Super easy to hop in and still challenging at all points. 100% recommend.
this game is full of so much arbitrary crap. I know that it's a cutesy roguelike trope to have things be hyper lethal and random, but these things end up being time wasters. It disrespects the player's skill to randomly spawn a portal next to an explosive car and do infinite damage.
The game did not initially recognize any controller inputs when booting on steam deck. like almost a dead ui the first time running.
best rogue next to mr. issssacc and bullet dungeon GG
I dont understand why this game is overrated for. I played many roguelike shooters but this one just aint for me. Most of the time Im dying in one hit due to explosions or the enemy getting a "lucky" one hit K.O. on me while trapped between a narrow hallway and a thousand bullets flying past me. Most of the upgrade cards you get dont even feel powerful either. Especially when most of the time you are getting one shot. Just feels pointless to me.
I can see how its fun because its hardcore and you make "winning" a long term goal but its very frustrating of how punishing it is for having a long reaction time or just bad level generation. I am glad I didnt get this game right away because now I know how painfully difficult it is. I like the shooty bang bang part, but I dont like being punished for things beyond my control.
Groundbreaking action roguelike
best rogue-like game
i've played for 328 hours and i've never beat the throne. am i just bad at the game?
Ive played a LOT of roguelikes. Like, a lot. And this one is STILL my favorite. And i havent even finished it.. I bought gungeon and this together, and i spent a lot more time playing this than gungeon. I absolutely LOVE the characters, and the soundtrack, and the gameplay, and everything else. Its basically one of those games where you just open it and play a run. A finished run without a loop is like 20 minutes. I just love this game buy it now please go buy it play it ok buy it now please buy it please man its the best roguelike ever man please buy it dude
20 years later and its still gonna be the best roguelike there is
I enjoy this game a lot, but I equally do not enjoy it. Many deaths or situations are extremely frustrating and not enjoyable to say the least. I would only recommend if you are very hardcore
Awesome game. Very quick to start and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart *BREATHE* and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart and restart. You will see the message "YOU DID NOT REACH THE NUCLEAR THRONE" many, many times.
ES LA MEJOR JOYA QUE E JUGADO!!!!
Fish can roll
it scratches an itch in my brain that I didn't know I had
definitely the best game ever probably
H
The visual clarity while hundreds of elements are on screen is truly remarkable.
Things are fast paced and exhilarating, especially when the coppos show up.
I'd recommend this game to anyone who can tolerate dying frequently. You feel more alive than when you should've, but didn't.
After you're done with this one, give "Voidigo" a try too.
literally the best game ever made
goat roguelike bullethell
classic. really difficult and rage inducing. stick with it and you'll be rewarded with guns and an entertaining death
All of Vlambeer's games are great, and this one is the best. Nuclear Throne is a topdown arcade shooter with light roguelite elements. The game feel is excellent. The sound design and screenshake whenever you fire a gun accelerates the action that this game has to offer. The game incentivizes an aggressive playstyle in making ammo/health drops spawn near enemies for a limited time. While one wrong move can often cost the entire run, you also can kill everything easily.
This game can be played in two different ways. You can either reach the Nuclear Throne and see the ending. Or you can loop the game and try to go for a high score. I'd classify this game, along other games like Risk of Rain, as exponential/infinite gameplay. Where other roguelites are often a power fantasy where enemies exist to die the moment they exist; Nuclear Throne is more skill oriented. You don't get more items and become invincible by the end of the run. You can still lose at any point in time.
Both the initial experience and loop gameplay are fun for their own different reasons. Although one small criticism I have is some of the RNG that takes place in the game. Some mutations are really strong, to the extent that having a run without them feels detrimental and out of the player's control. And in some rare instances; it can also be difficult to find a decent weapon later in the game. Despite having a varied weapon pool, I keep getting screw drivers and flamethrowers well into the icy ruins.
I highly recommend this game to anyone. It's been nearly 10 years since this game released in 2015, and I still find myself coming back to it every now and then.
get decently far
die to bs
rage quit
immediately open the game and go straight into another run
repeat
played this on xbox and couldn't get to the throne
i beat it the first day back on pc...
My favorite roguelike in a world with many, many fantastic roguelikes
lots of mods, especially nuclear throne ultra
Masterpiece! Hard to put down.
I can't even remember how long ago I bought this game. Love top downs. Completed otxo and hotline miami of course, etc. I cannot beat this goddamn game. I hate it. 10/10.
it's pretty good i guess
An insanely hard roguelike, to the point where it's straight up unfair with no real progression, no i-frames, upgrades that don't really feel like upgrades and certain things that instantly kill you at full health. No thanks.
A game that has inspired hundreds, yet a true successor has yet to arrive. Back in the day, I acquired it through not-so-legitimate means, but as soon as life changed and I had better income, I bought it without hesitation—for myself and all my friends. This game deserves every cent.
i love this game, pretty kuel game if you ask me
good game hard but fun, worth the low space and price
classic top down shooting mayhem
Best rougelike I've ever played. Love the style and all the characters are fun to play with.
The gameplay doesn't get boring even after longer playtime and i can only recommend this game.
Also I've got to tell you, "bouncy shells" and the "flak gun" are a goated combo.
Nothing else hits quite like this twitchy heady monstrosity, and it remains a goto after almost a decade. A masterclass in tight design and game feel for aspiring developers.
Fish can roll (seriously though, this game rocks, I have like 250 hours on Xbox)
I can't believe I've owned this game for basically over a decade and haven't given it a review.
This game is the sole reason I am the person today. Its how I met my best friend and got exposed to the fascinating world of game development and modding. If it wasn't for Nuclear Throne I wouldn't of tried my hand at so many things like art or storytelling.
That isn't to say that this game will provide the same experience for you, of course, but who knows? Its super fun and addicting and always seems to have more for people who to dig beyond the surface. It'll always hold a special place in my mutated heart
I really hate this game, the gameplay makes me suffer, and the enemies can get so annoying
But getting good in this game, truly makes the difference (I am not good)
Accidentally did a car with my wrench and died instantly.
10/10.
This is THE roguelike
At least for me
This is an incredible game
Don't think I've come close to blowing a fuse in a long time, like I have in this game, especially a single player one. I alt-f4'd probably 30-40 times so far, within the past 6-7 out of 15 hours I've played. I battled the line of too much determination, versus wanting to just throw in the towel and delete this shit off my account. Not exactly the rag to riches tale per se, but I have come to 'enjoy' (still somewhat loosely) Nuclear Throne, increasingly more so the more time I put in. Like others, coming from Isaac, Gungeon, Hades, all the others etc etc., it was very off putting at first. Still haven't beaten the game at 15 hours, but made it to end, and got blasted by some BS you have to experience to know to avoid. The game is kind of filled with that. That is what the difficulty is, basically just a 15 hour learning process. So it's not hard in the fact that you are trying to do calculus proofs, but sort of in a monkey see monkey do. So, borderline giving up, barely able to make it to the 2nd-3rd world a lot of the time early (junkyard/ice world), you kind of hit a difficulty apex at some point, and it 'clicks' and the game feels like it becomes drastically easier, in my experience at least. Even this far I still come across a gun or two I haven't seen yet, I'm not quite sure how the progression works in this game (I know the end game is basically looping), I don't really understand the secrets too much, I think I have experienced 3-4 off portals. So, to kind of give the hot and cold of it, is the game is actually pretty fun once you get over the base hurdles, and cross into the intermediate range, where you can actually carry your runs with what you pick up, rather than struggling to survive on the most overpowered weapons. Once you understand the perks, which feel like they give a good weight of modification to each run, it does get a little more flowing. The music is fun enough, and the feeling of the weapons even the base revolver are fun to shred enemies with. The problem is on the other side, where the game, from what I can see this far, justifies itself by being "hard". There doesn't seem to be any real long term Isaac style runs, where you build up ridiculous synergy. It doesn't really have the long term progression it seems, no long list of unlocks, or alternate routes, even the perks are seemingly limited to about 20 or so. Granted some of these come in DLC form over the years in other games, but even in the base games $12 is a little on the high side, for what you get. I mean to put it another way, I spent about 8 solid hours in the beginning, with a 16 bit game, where I could only play about 5-6 levels, with the same enemies every time, same map layouts (they are pretty generic). It felt very repetitive.. So while I have come to enjoy the game now, the price is steep for what you get, at least what I've seen, but a kind of lukewarm recommend.
Extremely fun and quick runs but its tuff to beat !@ Have had this game for years and still haven't beaten it.
This is one of my favourite games of all time. I do not understand why but this game holds up stronger than any rougelike in existence. It has a very cool aesthetic with highly rewarding and intense gameplay. There is so much to do in this game that it would very easily be my desert island video game. Definitely pick up this game and I promise with some time this game will have you hooked.
