It's criminal that this game doesn't get more attention. I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface in terms of skill at this game. The movement is some of the most satisfying I've played in any 2D platformer. It may feel a little awkward to get used to at first, but once you get it, it feels amazing. Learning each level until you can get SS rank is also super fun and satisfying. Each level is also only a minute or two long at most, which makes it super easy to restart a level if you mess up. The movement, levels, and amazing soundtrack easily puts you into a flow state that makes you feel amazing. I can't wait to keep playing and eventually SS all levels.

Dustforce is a movement 2D platformer where it requires precision and timing perfection to be able to get most SS ranks. I really do enjoy the flow of this game, it has fast movements with snappy (although clunky, more on that later) controls. Satisfying movement, a great soundtrack to get you into a Zen when running or perfecting levels, and overall great design and gameplay.
If you are into or want an incredibly very hard 2D platform movement game where it is similar to Celeste or Pizza tower in a sense that the whole point of the game is to get a perfect SS rank to continue, then get this game. It is very fun, but its not for casual players, and I think thats my problem with this game. I love how the game feels, I love the gameplay and I love going through levels quick and getting a good rating for precise platforming, but to me that's where the fault is present, the game being A Challenging Difficult Platformer with no way of progression besides getting enough of a good rating to unlock the final few levels kills it for me.
I have to admit that I myself am not good at 2D platformers, yet I enjoy playing them and I have played many of them in the past and recent times. Pizza Tower by far is my favorite one out of them all with my want to continue and going back to get a better rating for every level. So why do I not have this desire for this game? Well, it could be due to the fact that you have to get an absolutely perfect score to continue the game and it could also be with the fact that unlike pizza tower, the gameplay in this game is incredibly simple as it mimics a lot of the Challenging 2D platformers that were out at the time in either steam or in browser pages on the internet. As much of a good challenge this is, I am a person that has over hundreds of games in my backlog that I am trying to get through and requiring me to have to be absolutely perfect in a game just so I am able to beat it or see the ending is a challenge that I am not willing to partake right now nor have much interest in the future. The controls also do not help this factor, I was able to set up my regular controller as I think keyboard controls for platformers, although doable, are not the best or viable option to use and even with the gamepad set up it still felt like the controls at times were not as responsive or as smooth as they should be.
If this game had a mode or at least was made with the thought that a perfect ranking was optional and be able to unlock the levels with just pure progression, hell, it doesnt even have to be pure progression, they could of at least allowed you to unlock new levels with just a C rank and that be good enough, then I would have an interest in continue playing and finishing the game. But as it stands, I do not. I like to play games that the core concept of the game is to be fun, I think challenges in a video game and difficulty can be part of the fun and can make a game more fun, but when the sole reason of your game is just to be hard and to be perfect just to have fun, then to me that is not a very pleasant experience. The game is great as I said, the gameplay is fun, fluid and engaging, the soundtrack compliments it a lot. Theres is tons of enjoyment to be had for a hardcore audience that likes to continuously perfect their skill in one particular game just for bragging rights and I can see the team that worked on this game did want to deliver a good product. However I do not want to continue playing this game.
Good game! pick it up on sale if you want, just have in mind, this is for extremely hardcore Platforming gamers and nothing else.
It's alright
Dustforce is the best platformer I've ever played by a long shot. It is a masterclass in level design, and I cannot recommend it enough to anyone who's interested.
Pizza Tower was inspired by Super Mario World and Wario Land 4 most people say and I agree with.
However, I also think Dustforce DX was also a big inspiration for Pizza Tower.
