Mecha masterpiece with great visuals, awesome gameplay and amazing soundtrack. Just don't play it without the Japanese dub mod.
I felt the need to leave a positive review to reward what I feel like are very well thought-out VR features. They aren't perfect, and in fact it's almost more frustrating because of how close it is to being so, but its more than good enough. The inside of the cockpit has been lovingly rendered and you are given an entire field of vision above and around your shoulders that makes keeping track of the action easy.
However the best feature, and why I ultimately decided to leave this review, was the ingenious way that they use your line of sight for gameplay. You aim your gun by tilting your head towards the enemy you'd like to fire at, and you also orient yourself by looking at the direction you'd like to face and then clicking in the right stick. It sounds confusing, but once you put in a few levels, it becomes second nature. Your head always swiveling does wonders to combat the motion sickness you think would pop up with action this fast and kinetic. It is such a simple solution that I'm shocked I haven't seen it done in more games to allow for faster and more bombastic gameplay.
The only negatives here are that you are forced into controller use, and that your in-cockpit radar is a bit hard to read once things get hectic. It would have been cool to use your hands, but the way the gameplay works means it would have probably been really hard to pull off consistent Smash Combos in the heat of things. Even if you don't have VR, this version fixes some issues that other ports have, making it the definitive version of ZOE2. There really is no reason to skip this if you are a fan of this game, or if you'd like to pilot a super fast giant anime robot in VR.
You do not need VR to play this game.
After years, that one scene can be played without horrendous slowdown and FPS chop.
After sitting through a 10 minute unskippable intro, I tried the training only to find the controls are an absolute mess. This killed my desire to play this game very quickly.
A hidden GEM! "konamiXkojima" game
Cant even play the game, it just launches SteamVR then nothing happens.
Short, sweet and good looking combat focused mecha game that doesn't overstay its welcome. I heavily enjoyed the audiovisual presentation and soundtrack, the game just looks and sounds awesome and aged like wine in my opinion, but some of the boss fights were a bit frustrating to figure out for me.
It has a bunch of extra content if you want more and a cool VR mode if you want to get motion sickness as well. Recommended on a discount.
i love the game
Short, fluid mecha action game from the PS2, remastered quite well.
The plot's fine, the combat is smooth, the level design's decently replayable and has some secrets.
Even after you beat it, there's a bunch of extra missions you can do that are fun in their own right.
Great animated cutscenes and mecha models, jamming soundtrack.
Worthwhile pickup if you see it on discount.
While it has a few good moments and looks sufficiently flashy on the surface, the game unfortunately is much shallower than I had hoped. Complementing lackluster action is a handful of extremely prominent problems with the camera, and I'm overall left disappointed sadly. Wanted to like this one, but Armored Core remains the best for mech action.
good game
Broken port with multiple issues still unpatched years after. You are better off emulating this unless you are a weeb and want to play with japanese VA, but even that requires a mod.
KEN MARINARIS HOT AF
69/10
If you love Mecha, you are gonna love this!
this game is broken and either fails to launch, or after playing cutscenes is all white unless I pause (where pause menu shows up). How they release crap like this is beyond me. Game stopped launching after the first time.
Complete and Utter Junk, I am amazed that Konami would do this, VR game that demands a separate controller? REFUNDED immediately.
Привет контора разработчиков пачинко! Ваша игра не работает 🤩🤩
Please just make a sequel.
How am I supposed to play this, its so much slower than I see on YouTube. I'd recommend the initial release, because it doesn't have Denuvo installed.
Update game for SteamDeck will not work. Not optimized
some of the boss fights are too annoying but good mecha game over all, if you played the first then you should play this as its a way better game than the first.
tl;dr common kojima W
Very soild game i actully loved it a lot but the camura sucks
good game
Over the years I've bought and played this game several times on several platforms. There's nothing like it and no other peer or imitator comes close to how refined this feels in its visual style and flow. The work Cygames put into every extra feature and little detail of this remaster makes M∀RS the definitive version of ZOE2 and I wish they could have taken a crack at the original ZOE.
It's a shame that many ignorant people place so much emphasis on a very hands off producer of this series, leading to this beautiful release being a financial failure, Kojima Productions is and always was so much more than a single man.
I'll never stop loving this morsel of a multi-media project and can only hope that others may learn from it.
Unplayable without controller
love it\
I love when a game makes me wait 10 minutes before I can even touch controls (/s). This port is pretty bad, the game launched on 1 out of 4 attempts, no errors or anything. The Konami privacy agreement failed to load the first time, so it _might_ have been 2 of 4 if that hadn't been an issue. Why do publishers do this? Bad. No money.
Put Her Makeup On
Hella good
jehuty...
great game <3
classic
Personally I never really had any issues with this port. Also I find the VR mode to be super fun, if a bit disorienting at times. Makes me really wish for a VR mech dogfighting game.
If you played the original on PS2, you'll notice some odd changes from the original including cut voice lines and even edited text in the opening cinematic.
In a lot of way it doesn't feel like it really stayed true to Kojima's original vision all that much.
As a long time fan, I can't help but think that Kojima would have most likely done it differently.
In addition to that, Kojima would have had a greater focus on quality.
It's clear that there are some odd bugs which they have no intention of fixing.
It's also clear that they upscaled all the textures, but this also made some of the flaws in the original textures a lot more obvious like mirrored text on the bodies of the frames.
It's also strangely missing the option to set your frame rate which makes this feel more like a cheap console port rather than an actual proper PC release.
There is a ton of room for improvement here, sadly I don't think the modern day Konami will be capable of ever realizing that potential.
However, if you just want a dose of nostalgia, then it will be enough to at least keep you busy for a week, or at the very least a weekend.
Still better than Armored Core,
Also this music 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Waiting past parts!
controller just doesnt respond at all. Impossible to play on keyboard
bad key mapping
I got banned from the forums for pointing out fake Silent Shill 2 reviews
The Keyboard and mouse controls are atrocious and can't be changed, you NEED a controller to play it.
The characters are not likeable, and the Story is just ok.
The Gameplay itself is pretty good, although the camera and the tap targeting system is terrible.
The first 4 to 6 bosses all kinda feel like tutorial bosses, not a single boss really takes any skill you HAVE to Play the Dump mechanic the boss provides.
I would not recommend this game.
Warning - there's some problems! Combat speed is related to your frame-rate, 144fps is crazy fast, 60fps feels right. Also you might hear audio crackling/buzzing, this is because your audio output needs to be set to 48khz / 24bit or a similar range. I can only play with my headphones unfortunately...
The issues aside, this is the best mech game I've ever played and the soundtrack is an absolute banger (liquid jungle dnb amibience vibes - you know that PS1/2/Dreamcast era). It'a shame the port couldn't be better but I still think the game is fully worth playing if you're into the genre, it's 20+ years later and the controls (playing with controller) still feel so slick.
omfg this is amazingly executed. the controls are, surprisingly, not that difficult to adapt to and the gameplay, graphics, characters, story... superb. the only thing that lets this game down is the lack of an option to change voice audio from english to japanese but this is a rare exception. The english voice cast did an excellent job and even i am genuinely not very bothered by it. (i Despise eng dubs usually) seriously, take jehuty for a test run and taste the power of an ultimate battle mech
I truly don't understand why Konami hasn't made a 3rd game but at least we have this on Steam. I see multiple negative reviews saying they have issues that I haven't once run into myself. The game runs beautifully and looks great.
Solid 9/10 that I highly recommend to everyone.
Shift to VECTOR CANNON mode.
All energy lines connected.
Landing gear and climbing irons locked.
Inner chamber pressure rising normally.
Life-ring has started revolving.
Ready to fire.
Twenty-one minutes was all it took to want a refund. The first minute I opened the game, the sound was messed up -- static, crackling, right from the opening. (There are fixes, apparently, but they don't work with my Bluetooth speakers.) There's also no explanation of the keyboard controls. If you're not playing with a controller, forget it.
Disappointingly lazy. An awful port of a game that deserved better.
nice
stars are the witnesses of our existance
