I love this game a lot, especially it's soundtrack. Thank you Mick Gordon for blessing this game with your music, without it it's hollow. For people who are living under a rock, let me tell you: this game is the A4 Wagyu steak of boomer shooters. It is gory, violent and makes you feel like you can take on the world. F9ck these fitness influencers and their protein supplemets, play a few hours of this game and you'd see pubic hair growing from every area of your body, that includes your ass crack and ears.
I consider this game as a sadness annihilator, because after a 3-4 hour session you would come out of your cum dungeon smiling.
Great reboot of DOOM. I especially love the nostalgia rooms of Classic Doom. For a shooter/exploration game, I thoroughly recommend...but be warned: the gore level is out of this world!
Vastly overraterd, terrible map design, clunky mechanics, and gameplay that forces you to slow down
Had a lot of fun, looks, gameplay and music feel great
Was intimidated by the idea of fast paced combat at first but you can really get into flow of demon slaughter
Great game. Exploring and killing monsters is fun. The secrets can be revealed on the map.
This game kicks an almost irresponsible amount of ass. 11 hours of metal-fueled, gore-soaked adrenaline, an absolute powerhouse of simulated violence. Combat that induces such an intense high you start looking for it in other games, but nothing else scratches that itch. Feels like when I would put on a pair of Hulk Hands off the shelf at Walmart as a kid and get possessed by the Spirit of Punching Shit until my parents forced me to stop.
This is my second playthrough of the game and I hadn't touched it since early 2020, and let me tell you - this game may be the better part of a decade old, but it still feels like it could've come out yesterday. Doom Eternal is probably my second favorite game of all time and I've played through that game way more times than this one, but I haven't been giving 2016 enough credit. It runs above 120FPS at native 1440p on my mid-tier AMD card and has never once noticeably lagged, hitched, stuttered, or frozen, because it is a freakishly well-optimized game assembled by wizards. It feels like it still belongs and has a rightful place in today's world of video games.
If you're unsure of whether to pick this game up because it's from 2016, shut up and add this shit to your cart right now. Play the game and then ask yourself why you even hesitated.
i have not finished the game storey yet but i thinks its great,
it challenging, the sprits are well designed and the sound track is a master piece
its the first doom game i got and i love it playing on my steam deck it runs perfect, looking foward to getting some more doom games in the future
An extremely mediocre singleplayer fps game that overstays it welcome.
It felt like I had already experienced the entire game long before I reached the final levels. It is just way too repetitive and easy. And there isnt enough content to justify finishing the game.
A few technical complaints:
- The movement is horrid, very floaty and unresponsive
- Mouse smoothing is enabled by default and can only be disabled by editing a config file
- A lot of weapons slow down your mouse sensitivty, this is unacceptable (and there is no way to disable it)
- Very buggy
Bought this game twice! First on PS4 now on PC! I have said this over and over again; this game is the number one greatest comeback in gaming history, absolutely nothing can compare! 666 million times greater than DOOM Eternal! The loose story narrative is perfectly well made and it deserved a much better sequel than what DOOM Eternal delivered in story! Best DOOM game to ever play and one of the best shooters ever made! If you have never played this game, try it, you won't be sorry!
By far the best Doom imo. It feels more gritty and serious. They spent extra time on the models and environment looking very polished. Not cartoony like eternal(which i still enjoy). The atmosphere is on point.
very fun gameplay, one of the best ones I have played, pretty average story but the gameplay makes up for it very well
Never really considered myself a DOOM guy, but wanted to go back and play some games I feel I missed out on years ago. It has great level design, story, graphics and has achievement/collectable/trophy hunting. Will definately move onto Doom: Eternal at some point.
Doesn't have much of a online scene anymore, so 100%'ers will struggle a bit.
The graphics hold up well in 2024. I played it on 'hurt me plenty' and it was quite fast paced and a lot of fun. I believe I beat the entire game in around 8-9 hours but it didn't overstay its welcome. I think it was worth the price of $4 of whatever I paid for it on sale. I really enjoyed the music, stylized violence, and themes. It runs really well and I had a blast.
Fantastic game, unbelievably well optimised and beautiful to boot, so much fun when you want to kill some shit
The only bad thing about this game is how long it takes to get into a multiplayer game otherwise its one of the best games on steam.
Great Graphics and Gameplay. It walks the theme of the originals into the current times. THIS is what Doom is meant to be.
Doom 2016 Is a must play. The Gameplay is amazing and theres hundreds of ways you can go about killing Demons. Theres a variety of enemies and each one is fun to fight and the varitey of kill combos and ways you can go about killing an Enemie is incredable. The level design is amazing with the atmosphere of the world being showed every where. Yes, The graphics are from 2016 but even in todays standers there good. The pacing of the game is great and every combat encounter makes the game a little bit harder. The story is realy good and it gets even better in DOOM Eternal. Overall this is a must check out game and it will bring you hours of gut slashing fun
An FPS without reloading, walking or many cutscenes. Pure action with the story in the background for anyone who wants it. One of the best games of the century. Great music, great gameplay, great atmosphere and graphics. Except a few bugs, sometimes dumb AI and the fact that we have Doom Eternal, which is better in every way, anyone would have a hard time finding negatives. A must play before Doom Eternal and for anyone that likes FPS games.
yes nice action game KILL KILL KILL :DD kinda fun to play and hug demons with chainsaw ! and midair shotgun kills is fun too with bunnyhop xd feels good to play campaign 9/10
The graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is exciting, although some levels are a drag in that you're constantly overwhelmed with waves of enemies. This can get repetitive. Despite that, it's a wonderful experience and I would recommend it.
In the first age, in the first battle, when the shadows first lengthened, one stood. Burned by the embers of Armageddon, his soul blistered by the fires of Hell and tainted beyond ascension, he chose the path of perpetual torment. In his ravenous hatred he found no peace; and with boiling blood he scoured the Umbral Plains seeking vengeance against the dark lords who had wronged him. He wore the crown of the Night Sentinels, and those that tasted the bile of his sword named him...the Doom Slayer.
It is fun and I like the double barrel shotgun and the glory kills.
I'm shocked I hadn't got around to this one, but I honestly don't know what to say other than this may be the greatest series reboot ever. This feels so much like the original DOOM it's almost not funny. Platforming, puzzle-solving, crazy enemies, a fast pace, tons of explosions, cool weapons - DOOM 2016 has it all.
Still one of my top games in the past ten years, I would recommend playing it any day.
The Good:
The soundtrack goes so F***ing hard. Big fan of ripping and tearing. It is perfect for you! I'm a big fan of the DOOM series and don't see many flaws in it. It is a great modern adaption of the originals. Faithful yet a great new spin.
The Bad:
Not that much bad besides maybe the environment looking all too the same, not too crazy memorable level design.
The Ugly:
I can't think of anything that gave me a major ick, maybe the really difficult achievments?
Conclusion:
All in all it is a great staple for the DOOM series and I love the soundtrack the most, it is better than Eternal's.
Doom 2016 is an amazing revival for the series. The new addition of weapons such as the Heavy Assault Rifle and Gauss Cannon made clearing every level even more fun. I also like the swappable mods on each gun; it gives a lot of variety in terms of gameplay. This game has a lot of content, from power-ups to weapon upgrades, as well as challenges. There are also secret collectibles, which I didn't bother to find. On the other hand, performing glory kills on different enemy types is fun when combined with the heavy metal background music.
Sucks that this game has multiplayer achievements because there is no online presence, but this game is still really fun to "100%" for the campaign and collectibles. Fairly easy 100% though due to a lack of speedrunning or "hard mode" achievements.
Originally I played this game on the Nintendo Switch, loved it, and I repurchased this game for Steam. This game is a high quality, competently crafted, fast pace FPS where the player moves between combat arenas fighting demons on Mars and in Hell. The player is given a wide selection of awesome weapons, many of which can be upgraded with mods that change how you use them in arenas, and at the same time, the game is always finding new ways to make the demons and arenas equally challenging. The music rocks, the story is straight forward, the environments are gorgeous, and there is some collectibles and secret challenges to unlock. I have no experience with the online mode, and I haven't dug into the level creator stuff all that much, but I still recommend this title just on the campaign alone. To be clear, the Switch port is also great, especially for that platform.
the game is really good but i might have to play for another 13 hours to get back to titans realm because my save was corrupted, if you get the game expect a corruption, and dont pick nightmare in your first save
It's a really cool game and I enjoyed pretty much everything about it while playing the campaign.
I would've liked to try the multiplayer mode, but I was unable to find people on the matchmaking.
Kill demons. Obtain bigger guns. Repeat. A pretty simple game, but the pace and violence are what really bring me in. That and also the various collectibles and easter eggs I try (and sometimes fail) to 100% collect. And of course I cannot forget the insane music that really puts one in the mood to slay every beast standing in my way of the next level. Great graphics, exhilarating gameplay, would highly recommend.
Tough game, just as I remembered from the Classic games. This one is much more modern with more arsenal of weapons, along with glory kills where you can do executions. It follows the same path as the older games rather than Doom 3 and let me tell you, its very brutal. Enjoyed the game, would recommend.
Genuinely fantastic game. My personal introduction to Doom, and probably a really great place to start!
Good, grimy fun. If you like fast paced combat then this is definitely a game I would recommend. As foul as the appearance may be this game is absolutely a blast to just unwind to because it's easy to get in a flow state thanks to the glory kill mechanics. I haven't played the other doom games so I can't say how they are in relation but yeah this game is certainly fun.
Great game; old school shooter mechanics and will definitely trigger some nostalgia. They dont make em like this anymore. The level of blood and gore in this is beyond your imagination and its a throwback to the early days of PC gaming where content like this was not frowned upon. Ahh the memories. The game has a linear design at first glance but there are plenty of secrets that are hiding at every map level and it makes it so much more fun to try and explore and get them out. Other than that its pretty much glory kills all the way!!
One of the best experiences out there for the small price of $20. Proves that most games have begun to fall off these days, despite the $60-$70 price point.
Holy crap in just started its masterpiece of a game and holy shit I have been addicted ever since. The amount of detail is amazing the things you can do are crazy... to blasting demons heads to parkour in a broken bridge. WARNING THOUGH: this game takes a lot of skill but any ways. BUY IT
A modern classic. Seems a little more dated on my second play through, but still edgy.
Have you ever dreamed about going on a demon killing rampage? Me neither.
You should definitely check out this game though. Really fun, and especially worth it if you can get it on sale.
An iconic game that revitalizes the classic series. Worth playing for any FPS fan or gamer in general.
The best fast paced shooter I've played. Nothing has felt so smooth and natural to play, but also so snappy and precise with it's movement. There is nothing to hate about this experience. The game progresses very nicely and progressively implements new features, mechanics and enemies. Level design, the soundtrack, audio and graphics are faultless. So many secrets in the most interesting of places so it was rewarding checking every corner of every area. The suit upgrades were borderline meh but added niche bonus's but the weapon upgrades and runes were super cool. Always gave you something to try and unlock or upgrade while progressing through the alright story. Kind of the same as usual, go to hell and stop the scary monsters but it wasn't bad so... yeah.
Experienced a lot of graphical bugs (flat textures) and audio bugs after reloading on a death, or sometimes audio completely just not playing after hitting a checkpoint which was very interesting. Literally was probably just me, it happened frequently but I don't see it mentioned anywhere. Completely missed whole sections of dialogue sometimes and the first half of fights with only the monster audio.
Bugs aside it is a fundementally fun, smooth and snappy game to play. A pheneomenal arena shooter. Easily the best Doom I've played so far. Excited to see how Eternal will go.
While the game might be fun, I keep running into a bug that makes it so my weapons don't shoot. In the first mission. Can't progress and it happens even in new games.
Since the game is unplayable for me, I cannot recommend this.
Hell spawns? Kill them with a gun. Chaos daemons? Kill them with a gun. Eldritch abomination that can warp minds and reality? Believe it or not, gun.
love it. no really a person who plays fast paced shooters but was actually delighted
game lists windows 7 compatibility but does not work on 7 anymore generating 12+ dll errors when attempting to open on 7. i should not need college degree in programming to run the game on a listed supported platform. If you care about running games on vintage platforms avoid Bethesda products.

Love DOOM, knowing they included the DLC in-game unlike console, is amazing.
This game giving you 14 weapons total (i might be wrong about the exact amount) and allowing you to quickly switch between all these weapons gives you the freedom to kill demons however you want. ex: you can hit a demon with three rockets then use a laser (gauss cannon) to finish them off with a head shot. you can also stun that same enemy with the plasma rifle then use a machine gun (chain gun) to easily pummel them with bullets. you can also tear them apart with a chainsaw or even your fists.
there's also plenty of little secrets and lore entries to find in every mission. the ost main instrument is a chainsaw and it definitely helps make you feel like a badass. doom has a few upgrade paths so that you can have a say in the specifics of how your weapons function, so have fun with that.
I have only played one difficulty, that being Ultra-Violence difficulty. Ultra-Violence difficulty does a great job at punishing you when you make mistakes and without feeling unfair. if you're used to hard games then i suggest starting on Ultra-Violence difficulty. if you usually play easier games then i believe you should also start on Ultra-Violence, then adjust the difficulty if you feel that is necessary. if you are completely or mostly new to video games then i suggest starting on Hurt Me Plenty difficulty and adjusting it from there. the main thing is having fun so if the game is too hard or too easy then don't be afraid to adjust the difficulty.
This game is a teeny bit overrated but it was an integral part, alongside Wolfenstein: TNO, in jump-starting the golden age of single-player fps games that we currently find ourselves in. The combat is a bit basic and the environments are extremely samey, but I don't think the game overstays it's welcome. The excellent animations combined with the chunky sound design give the combat a great sense of weight and impact. Combine the solid gun play with one of the best soundtracks in gaming history and you've got a recipe for a great time.
Game is ok even good-ish. Gun play feels great but dont expect anything more
I LOVE this game. Mechanics are chef's kiss, graphics and design are chef's kiss, audio is CHEF"S KISS, its ALL CHEF"S KISS. It is a whole lot of fun and can be very challenging but in a rewarding way as you get to master the mechanics and watch yourself improve. It has such a contagious energy that brings you back for more.
