Great game if you're looking to relax and veg out for a few hours. Could be more accurate in terms of simulating how to actually work on cars.

Ever want to fix a car without actually fixing a car??? Welcome to Car Mechanic Simulator 2018. This game allows you hardcore car nerds to nerd out on car nerd stuff. Think about the brake pads, the mufflers and other metal objects that get attached to cars and stuff. You got lots of different metallic parts to tinker and enjoy looking at. You can open the hoods and get right in there. Let your hair down and enjoy the fumes of oil and gas. This game just may be what it takes for someone to become a million dollar mechanic.
very good game, but the game crashed and the car i spent 2 hours on fixing, just got deleted so i had to do all that again

I bought this because I had played CM2021 so much that I wanted a new "story mode" experience. lol So yes, I recommend this game if you like taking things apart, solving puzzles, and putting them back together, and eventually doing projects. It is addictive, relaxing, and I often listen to my favorite music while playing. Play car mechanic.
fun with workshop cars but without its not
I'm addicted (Only good if you get mods or dlc's i'm currently using mods cause i'm broke) i only got it a couple days ago and i already have 5+ hrs on it lol
most annoying menu music in the history of menu music and when you first start the game the volume is 9000% and you cant even skip the intros
then you make it in to tutorial which you cant complete since there is no oil in the car, then you try to find oil but there is no oil anywhere in the garage, and you cant buy oil from the computer?
then you go to sandbox and buy few cars and try to drive them but cant since there is no oil in them either
theres no oil in your garage and you cant buy any oil with your computer
what a game of the year, refunded even for the price of 1,99 on sale its not worth wasting ur time
i really enjoyed the game and it teaches you alot about engines in my opinion as every piece has to be put together
honestly, a pretty good game other than the fact i was juked out of buying all the dlcs thinking a LX550 SC Rear Taillight C was in a dlc :D jokes aside a really good game for car nerds.
Great casual game with endless mods (though most of them require DLCs)
Made the jump to CMS 2021 after 660 hours on the 2018, definitely recommend.

Its a very fun game, takes a bit of time but helps you learn different parts of vehicles in an accurate way
Got this game on sale, awesome game!! Only downside is that the driving physics are REALLY bad, i have seen better driving games on Roblox. I'd reccomend buying but only on sale.

terrible ux design at every turn from the moment it launches. loud as hell, sensitivity too high, navigating the menus sucks, adjusting settings is very poor. lowest settings aren't low enough. i can't imagine actually trying to play the thing if the main menu is this ass

It is very addictive and fun.
Quite a good game. After several years of development it has received a lot of patches and is now playable. It allows to learn the basics of how automobiles are made and how they function. The graphics is good, sounds are good. Not much of a gameplay, but this is a single player game, so it is fine.
I like taking apart a bunch of cars and putting all the parts into a single one
Car Mechanic Simulator 2018 is a dream come true for automotive enthusiasts and simulation fans alike. The game lets you step into the shoes of a mechanic, running your own repair shop and working on a wide variety of cars. From fixing engines to replacing brakes and even restoring classic vehicles, the level of detail is impressive and highly immersive. for me, this is one of the best car mechanic games I have ever seen in my life so 9 out of 10, and the price is pretty low for this one.
Overall game is good :) but sometimes when u want to exit it crashes.
This game was so fun I ended up purchasing CMS2021 and both the CMS games made me buy MSC and Mon Bazou

[H3]Educational car simulator with racing arcade elements
This game is a lot of fun if you know what you'r doing. Build cars and have a lot of fun finding some.
I worked in an auto repair shop for almost 2 years. The game doesn’t even cover half of what you’ll go through if you decide to try the craft of an auto mechanic. There are no gaskets for every head seal or other closed systems. You won’t encounter a rusty bolt that won’t come off (so you have to mess with it, heat it, apply WD-40, and wait again). The game is more like assembling a bicycle or a lawnmower. There are few assemblies, and everything is very simple. I disassembled and reassembled the main assemblies in 5 minutes. That’s madness.
This is not a simulator. Don’t think that the parts in the game will help you identify a part in real life! That’s not true. Most parts are just made universal (I guess to avoid putting effort into creating a wider range of models). The placement also raises questions at times, except for the engine—it stays in place (just joking).
The graphics are also questionable. New cars come in rusty. The word "dirt" seems to be a forbidden word for the developers because there’s simply none. All cars are perfectly clean. There are very few effects, and all the colors are oversaturated. The controls are very difficult to configure and only through the MAIN MENU, which raises a lot of questions. And most importantly, a very strange control model has been chosen, with magnetization to each part (which essentially kills the word "simulator"). In real life, you stand under the car (or worse, lie under it) and try to feel for what you need. Elbow-deep in grime and exhausted.
However, this is a game. The development team is not large, and I think that’s a big problem for them. You can feel the desire to simply make money on similar projects rather than investing in them. I’d be happy if something more thoughtful and interesting comes out in the future.
For now, I don’t recommend it.

I enjoy this game so much. Spending my time to find the not discovered part (1 hour). I recommend this game to you, if you have free time.

With the DLC, it can be an interesting and fun trek though the story mode thanks to the surprisingly good amount of details in the engines and suspension. Without the DLC, it get repetitive very quickly.

Game still holds up in 2024.
One of the easier car building games. (when compared to things like my summer car) Has its issues here and there but still a fun experience 6/7 years later. Good knowledge comes from this game too. Put someone who is not mechanically inclined in this game and 20 hours later they are searching for a job at a junkyard.
This game brings hours of fun. It is also educational and teaches you about mechanics
Wont work on my laptop, my system is up to date yet it wont play right. it buffers and then freezes.

Fun Game, easy to play and relax to. Make it more fun that i am into my cars
Was surprisingly fun and relaxing, even if you don't know much about cars. The game strikes a nice balance between realism and accessibility. It's definitely simplified to keep things fun so you're not drowning in overly complicated mechanics. It's realistic enough to teach you the basics, but not so much that you need to be a real-life mechanic to enjoy it.
10/10, would lose sleep again to rebuild an engine that purrs like a kitten.
