Virtual SlotCars (VSC) is a game in which you build and race slot cars. You will be tweaking your car components, testing them on track, setting your throttle controls, and finally racing your chosen car to earn coin and gain experience which will be used to unlock and buy higher level components for your car, enabling it to handle better and go even faster, or track parts to construct any of the 26 tracks with up to 8 lanes or create your very own custom made tracks from scratch.
Before you do anything
Please read the Throttle set up section in the manual. VSC offers a unique configurable 3 key solution to control your car throttle. Understanding how it works, practising in a practise session, per lane, per track, and configuring it using the interface causes your settings to be recorded. These settings will then be used during a race, and are paramount for obtaining the best slot car experience. Soon VSC will further offer complete custom key binding which will enhance this feature even more.
Single Player
At the start you will be provided with a basic car and set of track parts which will allow you to practise and compete in entry level races. As you get familiar with car handling and maintenance you will soon be winning races and gaining experience and coin. Before you know it you will be able to challenge the next level of AI opponents on longer tracks with more lanes at even faster speeds, as you work towards the ultimate level of Ace, racing at potential speeds well in excess of 70 km/h. Alternatively, you can spend your time and coin creating new elaborate custom tracks in the track editor. The options are endless.
Multiplayer
Race against friends in Multiplayer with your own personalised car. Host custom track circuits that you made, with your own set of racing rules and car configuration limits. Create your own car body mods and import them into the game for your friends to see and race against. While VSC offers its own track-set parts, it also offers full modding support allowing you to create your very own blue-print to track-set solution, to create any specific track you can dream of. If you find you do not have the track or car body you want to race with, and you are not a modder, the option to obtain your perfect car or track will be made available through the community of modders.
- Player levels: Beginner, Regular, Advanced, Pro, Ace. AI opponent car quality and speed increases each level, or can be set to match players car, either fully or partially.
- Configurable Throttle: 3 keys, configurable per track per lane, enables max speed! Or MS compatible game-pad trigger.
- Perspective: 3D first person controller / car / top / chase camera views – all adjustable..
- Augmented Camera: Automatically sets zoom to maintain player car size in frame.
- Self maintaining AI: AI opponents will repair their cars on the go, in their pit-stop.
- Car maintenance: Wear and tear genuinely represented for all car parts and scaled for best gameplay. Centre of gravity can even be changed by adding weights.
- Track creation: Using in-game editor.
- Car body painting: Using in-game colour picker.
- Audio: Rigel's proprietary 3d audio engine using Microsoft® XAudio2 library.
- Detailed Physics: Made using physics based on the Bullet library.
- Modding Car bodies: Accepts Blender / 3d Max / Maya, import of *.OBJ & *.FBX files using proprietary Asset Builder.
- Modding track-sets: Using simple text editor to create and configure.
- Multiplayer: Race against your friends, 8 players, with custom cars and custom tracks.

This game is good, but it feels VERY VERY unfinished, and the documentation reflects this. There's no explanation of what car upgrades are or do. The game is functional. The physics are good. It works. But it's definitely not finished. In order to earn car parts for upgrading cars and track parts for building tracks, or even racing on new tracks, requires winning races and earning coins and other currency. That's the only way to access additional content.
And I doubt we can expect any improvement in any of these areas as this game looks to be VERY VERY abandoned by it's developers. The developer's site doesn't even seem to exit. Clicking the link here on Steam just takes you to a missing web page. There's a couple of facebook groups. One looks to be the official facebook group for the game and that one is completely dead. The other one looks to have custom tracks and stuff, but that one appears dead too. I tried to join it weeks ago and no one has approved my request to join. So the only conclusion I have is that the Facebook page for custom tracks is also dead.
All in all... this is a VERY dead and abandoned game. It works. It's fun for the cost. But it's definitely in an unfinished and completely abandoned state. The only reason I would recommend this game is that it's pretty much the only game in town when it comes to slot cars simulation.
A year ago, I wouldn't have given this game a second thought, but since receiving a Carerra Digital slot car set for Christmas, slot car racing has become one of my favorite pastimes. It was mere coincidence that I even stumbled across this game on Steam, but it has rapidly become my favorite video game, full stop.
Pros: This game simulates the look, the feel, and the physics of slot car racing to a very high degree of realism, allowing players to race on elaborate and lengthy tracks they would otherwise never be able to afford in the real world. The same is true for car customization, and it's all here; chassis architecture, gear ratios, motor speeds, tire materials, wear and tear. The in-game currency rewarded for participating in races allows you to purchase new parts, new tracks and scenery, and to keep your cars in working condition. And the track designer is actually superior to any track designing software that slot car racers pay an arm and a leg for.
Cons: The kickstarter for this game never reached its funding goal, so this may be as far as it's ever developed (but you still have a complete game here). There is a limited amount of music in the game, and it gets very repetitive (I turn it off and listen to music from an external source while I play). If you have never played with slot cars before, you might struggle with the entire premise of this game. Unfortunately, multiplayer is dead as a doornail, so one must treat this as a single-player game. The default camera setting on every track is way too zoomed in, but you can use keyboard commands to zoom out and reorient the camera, and those changes stay locked in per track until/unless you change them again. The alternative camera perspectives (like 3rd person at track level) have limited utility.
I will highly recommend this game to anyone who loves slot cars, and also to those with a passing curiosity about them (better to spend 10 bucks on a slot car simulator before spending several hundred dollars on a set without knowing what you're getting into, IMHO). The triggers on an X-Box controller work exactly the same as a real-world slot car controller, but the keyboard buttons work well too. There are a finite number of player-modded car bodies (Corvettes, Audi R8s, Camaros, rally cars, McLarens, etc.) and dozens of club racing track files available in a Facebook group devoted to this game. I highly recommend reading the instruction manual that comes with this game, and reorient the camera for each track so that you're zoomed out and can see more of it. This makes racing a lot easier and a lot more fun.
I've clocked 41 hours playing this game in only 10 days, and that's not bad for a $10 title.
Love the game, there's a good sense of progression, you can tune your car to your liking, controls are easy to understand, there's definitely a technique to how you drive the car. The track creator is a little confusing at first but it gets easy quickly.
The only reason I'm not recommending this is because the game has been abandoned since 2019 but the dev didn't officially announce it, they just stopped posting or responding...
Really surprised by the game for only 10 bucks. NEEDS MOD SUPPORT! Bring us some more real cars
Nice game to play with your friends. Ai in game is too easy. Nice pgysics and feels like you are actually driving slot cars.

It doesn't make any sense the amount of grinding required to play a new map, let alone a custom one made by yourself. I wanted this game for having a good time between chores, not for playing for hours just to get two new maps. It's a shame since the physics, the graphics and the track editor are really neat, but I won't spend time on unlocking tracks by playing the same ones again and again and again. If they remove that grind mechanic I might return to this game, but for now there's no chance I'd recommend it to a casual player like me

Its been a good reminder of my younger days with the old tyco set. The best part is you dont need a huge space to race. Lots of possibilities. Im hoping they will make crossovers, lane changing and maybe have a pit lane like the digital tracks of today.
This game is so unoptimized that it makes GTA on console look like a masterpiece. If you're not familiar with it, you get a solid 15-25fps with no real way to improve it on lower-end systems. It would maybe help if I could turn off collision after a crash, as that's when it dips, but you need higher specs than they say you do.
This is brilliant, playing this with a friend and making our own tracks is great. All the fun without the hassle of actually putting all the track out, finding the dead connections, resolving the bent track runners, etc, etc. The sound is spot on as well. All I want now is a few chicane tracks or the single lane sections then it would be perfect 👌

The physics are absolutely superb. The amount of tunability you have control over is also really cool. Wish there was a little more variation in vehicles but what's there is great. Well worth $5.
1) realistic feel and movement of cars on track- they nailed it. love how the cars move and crash etc. you can tell they put a lot of work making the racing realistic- then adding to the game after that.
2) customizable cars- changing colors of bodies and helmets. awesome- my cars have to be jet black and blood red.
the garage and parts element is fun, buying different bodies and engines etc. customizing the cars, then having to adjust your strategy to the more powerful engines-
3) noise of cars is authentic. sounds like.... slot cars. i will say i muted the music, then brought it back. now i like the music- complements the experience without overwhelming.
4) tracks and look of the game is excellent. the camera feature is rad. and the different views...
5) the three throttle mode on the keyboard with , . /
is good. the other slot car game has a mouse slider- not good.
VERY NICE. imo, the use of these three buttons is simple yet hard to master and works
like the slot trigger. once you get super fast cars you will need that third button.
the negative review says the game is difficult and the cars fly off the track too much. i dont agree..... i find the game to be easy to play yet challenging. authentic. looking forward to its progress.

After investing over the last few years in a significant amount of Scalextric digital, I am amazed at the quality of VSC.
I have had it for a day now and I have managed to build and race on my own 27m track although as yet I haven't managed my times achieved on the real thing. I'm just getting used to the XBox controller trigger and tuning the car is withion a very short time way beyond what you would normally get with a Slot.It / NSR car out of the box. 50kRPM motors What?

This is the slot racing game I've been looking for so long.
VSC is a game with the potential to become the best and only Pro, club and home slot car simulation game. The developers did listen to the input from the community and where passionate to make it a great game.
Pro's:
- singleplayer

- inline, sidewinder and anglewinder chassis
- rubber, soft sponge, hard sponge and silicone tires
- lots of electro motors
- great 2D and 3D track editor
- 2, 4, 6 and 8 lane tracks
- Xbox 360 controller (Windows 7 and 8.1)
- Xbox One controller (Windows 8.1 and 10)
- The car physics and vehicle dynamics (engine) are recently been updated and work reasonably good.
- The AI cars (computer opponents) have also been improved.
Con's:
- After playing a few MP races I think the client driver has allways a disadvantage. His slot car drives more choppier as the host slot car.
- When driving with the maximum number of AI cars and track lanes, this relative simple game is stuggling for fps, while other race games on my PC run absolute fluent.
It looks like the game doesn't make optimal use of the GPU on the video card for there graphics
(I use a Radeon R9 290 Tri-x 4GB video card and Intel Core i5 4590 / 3.3 Ghz processor).
- All barriers, guardrails and pit building are not free to place everywhere on the table. They have very limited and fixed position relative to the track determined by the software.
- There is no landscape editor, the landscape is complete flat.
- The 3D room simulation needs a complete overhaul to be able to edit and simulate Pro table constructions, club rooms, sport halls, basements, lofts and so on.
[*]VSC fullscreen doesn't work with AMD ReLive (GPU gameplay recording).
At the moment this game is already "worth every penny".

Bought this to play the multiplayer with a dude, now thats fun! Anyway, we couldt figure out how to play the tracks we created on our own.
If you raced slotcars when you were a kid, this will bring a smile on your face and make you feel exactly how you did back then. Its very hard and challenging go fast and stay on the track. Controls are diferent from the slot car ones, but the feeling and the immersion is the same. I still have bunches of "stuff and things" to unlock, even after some hours in the game.
Remeber its in EA and I have not seen multiplayer matches so far. But still, it delivers a loads of fun for its value.
The other reviews will give you more details of the game and there are also a couple of videos, but it truly feels like slotcar racing.

This game is infuriatingly and annoying over difficult to play. I've been playing with real slot cars (proper Scalextrix) since I was a little kid growing up in the 70's... Yes, I'm that old. I had dozens of cars and hundreds of feet/meters of track. I was good, my car control was excellent and I was rarely beaten by anyone I knew.
But the sensitivity on this game is so annoying that the slightest nanomillimeter of difference in trigger/throttle control is the difference between going so slow that you cannot win or flying of the track at almost every corner. The response time is so bad that it is impossible to win a race and in fact it's impossible to get wthin half a second per lap of the AI.
I've been gaming pretty much since the invention of computer gaming, I've gone from the earliest pong console through almost every generation of consoles (bar the latest one) but PC's have been my main gaming platform for over 20yrs. I'm no stranger to all genres and types of games... So I feel that when I say this game is frustratingly annoying to play... I really mean it and have almost 40yrs of gaming experience to back that statement up with.
So a message to the devs... allow users to adjust the sensitivity of their controllers... because half pressing my trigger gives me 1/4 throttle, 3/4 trigger gives me half throttle and if I go a nano millimeter beyond that... full throttle and flying off the track. This is the only game that gives me control issues, everything else I use my controller for works flawlessly including many other racing genre games. Controling more accurately moddeled vehicles in all types of track conditions is possible because other games manage it. This should be a much simpler concept and yet they've made it far harder to use that the most advanced racing games out there. In the real world after a few mins I'd have the car and track control down to a fine art, in your game on a single track with a single car... after almost two hours... I'm just annoyed and frustrated at the complete lack of settings to control something as basic and simple as the sensitivity of the controller... It's one button FFS, it's not like you're trying to work with dozens of different combinations and configurations... ONE trigger... on/off and all positions in between.
If you ever fix this game and make it playable... maybe I'll revisit the review... as it stands I'm considering asking for a refund as I feel it's such as waste of time and money as it stands.

Just played this again and great strides have been made on throttle control.. So a big thumbs up for that... Car control is so much better and my 360 controller works lovely now... I can now slowly increase my speed per lap bu .1 or .2 km/h until I find the sweet spot.
There are still some major shortcomings though... Can we have MPH too please, not everyone uses kmh.
The Grind... want to upgrade... prepare for a very.. very..very long slog of repeating races over and over and over again just for minor upgrades, or to earn enough to be able to buy the next track.
The price points for these upgrades is either set way to high, or the amount of winnings/experience/control points earned is set way, way, way too low. Either way, it needs some major tweaking, not so much that it becomes easy... but so little that you're repeating the same race 10-20 times just to be able to get some decent upgrades.
Track editor... a complete inability to view your trak properly in 3D means you cannot judge heights very well... A heightmap would be great, and either some form of auto complete or a way to accurately finish a track... Because it's infuriating when you get with a few millimeters and it refuses to accept it's complete... Which leads to you spending ages trying to tweak it to close... and then giving up entirely and deleting the entire things.
So whilst it IS MUCH IMPROVED... Not quite at a level I can change my recommendation for now... But please keep up the good work and I can see that happening in the future.
We can finally build and race professional slot cars. The key word in this is build. For the uninitiated, building is the equivelant of tuning. To acvhive this, parts on cars this small are usually replaced, added and/or removed as opposed to cars that are large enough to have adjustable parts. With that out of the way.....on to the review.
There are many words that describe how we feel about things. I am going to try not to use any of those words. It will be difficult do to the level of awesome they have achived in simulating real slot cars. This is not the TCR type of track and car, not the tyco, not the cliffhangers, this is a simulation of professional slot cars. The speed is unreal and I mean that in a good way. Even with the stock engine I was able to lose control and leave the track easily. You actually have to slow down at times. The car can be too fast for full speed on certain straights. Thats when I knew they (VSC Dev1 and Team) knew what to do to make this the most realistic slot car experience to date. That is not suprising to me since they made the previous best slot car title. The difference is this one is a true simulator with unapologetically accurate physics. It even looks like the cars weigh the same as real slot cars. This is that detailed.
They included a track creation tool built right into this.
If you know or want to know what top level slot car racing looks like, this is for you. If you are tired of replacing your real slot car stuff, this is for you. If the thought of your cat, bird, dog, curious child, etc. no longer being able to join in your miniature racing racing sounds too good to be true, this is for you. If you have never driven/raced/crashed a slot car ad want to give it a go, this is perfect for beginners as well.

Great game, for $10 this game is excellent value. This is actually quite detailed and realistic. Having experience with semi serious slot car racing I can say that this game really nails the experience of neck to neck racing. The best part is if you come off the track you automatically get put back on. The value of this cannot be under stated because its a real downer when playing for real. Also in semi serious slot car racing, in a race format, if you come off you are out of the race. In this if you come off you get put back on after a uniform delay and can attempt to still win the race over the long term, hoping that the AI comes off, as it does. If you use a game pad the anologue trigger works just like a real variable controller.
To sum up: suprisingly entertaining game with a lot of detail. Runs at maximum 1080p. Excellent value for $10. Great stuff keep it up.
