nice sim
amazing game and physics
Super fun even on controller (once you have the settings sorted out).
Also runs great on steamdeck, so ignore the “unsupported” tag!
rFactor 2 is an absolutely amazing simulator. Force feedback is phenomenal, physics is regarded as one of the best (I would classify it as "just feeling right"), and the driving feels natural. The game also offers VR and Steam workshop which makes downloading mods much easier and in turn should offer unlimited content.
Yet my biggest gripe with this game is how the DLC is handled. Off the bat, it's unreasonably pricey. When it isn't on sale, the complete pack is like $200 USD. Absolutely wild. At the time of writing this, the complete pack is on sale for $53.95 and I feel like THAT should be its normal price. Another thing that's a bit misleading but it isn't really a "complete" pack. It states that you get everything EXCEPT Reiza and KartSim DLC. Why is it called "complete" when it really isn't...?
Now here comes the meat. How DLC is handled. Your DLC does NOT appear in the DLC section at all. I was trying to figure where the DLC was when I first brought it. Turns out, they're all in your Steam inventory and the worst part is, they're all Steam workshop items. This wouldn't be an issue BUT when you try to view the DLC's Steam workshop page, it is set private and we don't have access to the actual page itself. This is a HUGE problem as we are essentially not allowed to unsubscribe to the DLC.
"Can't you just disable the item in-game?" Yes BUT no matter what, it will always download the workshop DLC. To quote Nismo. from the Steam discussions, "For some reason it downloads the content into the workshop folder and then copies it to the game folder, essentially doubling the storage usage. From what I can tell this is what the game is doing when it's "installing" the content." This is just such a backwards way of doing things. I wish they would've just had normal DLCs where we can just toggle to disable some DLCs here and there. Sadly, it won't be happening at all since the developers have long moved onto other projects (Le Mans Ultimate).
I ended up refunding ALL the DLC at this point. Plus, the game ended up being around 200 GBs with all of the DLC installed.
In the end, I still like this simulator but that's just it, it's just a simulator. It's not really much of an actual game. There are no challenges or gold medals to go after like in Assetto Corsa. This game's modding community isn't as strong as Assetto Corsa's either. It's such a shame. I highly don't recommend buying the game at full price but on sale for $5.99 USD, it's not too bad.
I can't find the dlc's, the game comes with no a single car or track
it car
Good variety of content and a very good racing physics engine.
Love this game and I don't care whether you refer to it as a GAME or a SIM the point is, I LOVE IT. There are areas where it has issues & where others are superior, but this still has a place in the market and is well worth getting to grips with, especially if you buy content when it's on sale.
It's a very good simulator; I wish it had more ready-to-go races like GT7 but it's a very nice sim. Lots of DLC required to buy though, so it's an investment.
Realistic track physics? TICK
wide range of certified tracks and cars? TICK
Non-Toxic Multiplayer lobbies with chat box? TICK?
Honestly apart from beam NG this is the best racing mechanics game i have ever played, if only there were soft body physics. TOTALLY RECOMMEND!!!
If you want to drive a properly recreated vehicle in a virtual space, or race against other motorsport fanatics in various online communities, this is the sim to get.
entirely unplayable for the first couple hours. this game is extremely mod dependent and lacks a decent ui. its possible your keyboard will randomly stop working
xcygrbgnhyu7
First of all whose wisdom was to put all base game free content in a seperate location of steam workshop. It took me 2 hours to install them as I wasn't able to figure out what am I supposed to install. I installed the wrong stuff and then again uninstalled and installed the correct one. I am real pissed.
Coming to the sim itself, RF2 is probably one of the best sims on the market in terms of car handling physics and probably the worst in terms of UI. You will fell in love once you get hang of it. I cannot speak for the DLCs but the base game content is mersmerizing and ample for me.
NOTE : WAIT FOR SALE, RF2 GETS REAL CHEAP THEN. BUY RF1 TOO, IT HAS THIS NOSTALGIC SIM FEELING.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF SIMMING !
yeah i really think that this game is good, when you factor in that the title gives a really good description of what the game is about. combined with the front cover image, you can certainly understand that this is a motor-sport racing game! that's a fact!
very realistic and runs well with 8gb ram
A bit challenging to set up but worth the effort
Feels awesome! Just need to spend some time getting it dialed in and then the love affair begins...
I recently had the pleasure of diving into this outstanding racing simulator, and I must say, it has exceeded all my expectations! From the moment I started the game, I was blown away by the stunning graphics. The attention to detail in the car designs and the beautifully rendered environments create an immersive experience that feels almost lifelike.
What truly sets this simulator apart is its realistic physics model. Every turn, every acceleration, and every brake feels authentic, making it a delight for racing enthusiasts. The way the car reacts to different surfaces and road conditions adds an incredible layer of depth to the gameplay, allowing players to truly hone their skills.
Overall, this racing simulator combines breathtaking visuals with a remarkable level of realism. It’s a must-play for anyone who loves racing games! Highly recommended!
awesome game
The only true alternative to assetto corsa. Incredible FFB, amazing modding community.
I have tried several driving simulation "games", but I always come back to Rfactor. The FFB is phenomenal, the tires are perfectly simulated and then, very importantly, you don't have to sell a kidney to play it.
I had stopped using it because it needed Windows, but now with Proton it goes great and smooth as silk. Now I'm off and the race is about to start..
mmm
Nigga
This seems like it would be a cool game. Apparently it has the best FFB in the sim racing world but sadly that is not the case for myself. I have a TMX and yes i know it's not a great wheel but it absolutely does not work for this game. Works amazing with every other sim racing title I have played but not rFactor 2 unfortunately. I have tried just about every fix on the internet and there's nothing that will help the FFB. Either the wheel spins on its own or the wheel sort of works but with ZERO FFB. It would be pretty cool if they made this game more user friendly and more plug and play like every other sim racing title. in the words of Max Verstappen "I guess i can delete it and make room on the PC".
Having played nearly every racing simulator on the market except iRacing, I can confidently say that each title offers something unique. For instance, Assetto Corsa boasts a wealth of mods, AMS 2 features incredible weather and immersion, and RaceRoom excels in car handling and online racing.
However, despite owning Rfactor2 for a couple of years, it remains my least played title. The base content is quite sparse, and the available mods are underwhelming. Additionally, I find the DLC pricing to be excessive; paying £25 or more for GT3 cars that handle no better than those in ACC, which is overall a superior game, feels unjustifiable.
In its current state, Rfactor2 does not provide anything distinctive that would compel me to choose it over other, more affordable racing simulators.
Hard to learn setups
Amazing physics and the game is really well made just need to get used to the game more. It's like a non subscription based IRacing which is also amazing
Super fun doing Nascar races
hard to set up, cant even move a car forward. ruined my son birthday gift
NOLA Track
As much as I've heard great things about this game; I can't recommend this game if you are just looking to download and start playing. Tried getting VR to work [Quest 2] but that is no simple task. Almost got it working but only black screen once in a practice. Now comes the real issue, I spent a little under 2 hours to just get my wheel and pedals to actually register to the game. Coming from the annoying setup of AMS2 I was slightly prepared for this. Finally got everything working to go into a test drive session, only to have the car bounce around the paddock hitting the walls and unable to leave pit lane. The visuals look pretty stellar but I can not recommend a game in good faith if it takes an engineering degree to get the controls to actually work. If you look forward to tinkering with a game to get it to work this is for you otherwise I would go for ACC or iRacing for a more straight forward install, turn your gear on and start racing.
👍
Great sim!
paid for server time sat for 40mins waiting for shit all to happen. spend more time in menus than racing.
Plus who doesn't love being milked for every little cent when they could just be good people and make an enjoyable game. its all there but the greedy fucks would rather waste your life than let you enjoy.
could never get it to start. Play AMS2 instead.
So bad game you still have to pay 40 dollars for other contents
game dont even work even with my wheels and pedals still didnt work for some reason, but when i started up farming sim everything works fine with my wheel. So dont buy this game eventho it was almost 6 euro's i still asked for a refund bc game dont work like i should
Totally love it! Just wish this had the Le Mans Track that Ken Miles raced in 60's and the GT40 :)
thats a fantastic racing games ever
fuck motorsport network, GMF capital, Gary Fegal, and private equity as a whole
Good: peerless FFB and driving experience
Bad: dated audio, tricky menus, expensive content
I have been big into sim racing for a long time but i just got a PC this was the firs game i downloaded. I loaded on the game for about 10 minutes to sort out my settings and then the game doesn't work and crashes ????????
excellent physics
You can get karts :)
