The Escapists 2 introduces a brand new combat system to make every prison brawl more exciting and interactive. Construct a clink!

With the Prison Map Editor, it’s your turn to construct a prison worthy of housing the toughest inmates! It includes all the rooms, fences and guard dogs you need to build a prison that’s as hard as your imagination makes it – no duct-tape required.
You can pick up those prison blueprints and start crafting your own creations through the Custom Prisons option on the main menu, and when you’re ready you can show the world by sharing them through Steam Workshop where you can download subscribe to fellow architects’ lock-ups – all custom maps can be played either solo or in both local and online multiplayer!

06/10, I was coerced into buying this game by some friends because it was on sale. This style of puzzle game isn't usually my thing, but as I'd heard about it a few years ago and had seen some gameplay at the time, I decided to give in and give it a go.
It's a great game, I loved the pixel art and the character customisation, there are great touches of humour throughout the game, the prison themes are interesting, the difficulties are perfectly described and all the mechanics of the routines, the wanted level stars, the skill levels, getting items and crafting, etc. are very well done. Playing multiplayer also provided plenty of funny moments with my friends.
The ways of escaping in general are quite creative, even if they do get repetitive at times. Just like the multiplayer escape mechanisms.
I know there are ways in the game to receive clues about the ways to escape, but in my opinion, it's too time consuming. Exploring the map, finding a job or completing tasks to get money and asking for a tip on the phone is painful.
I'm an overachiever and I like to play every game I buy 100% hahha.
In the end I got bored because, as I mentioned, it's not my kind of game and it turned out to be just a speedrun to platinum by following tutorials because I didn't want to spend too much time on the normal ways of discovering the 3 or 4 different methods to escape in each prison, which ended up affecting the grade I decided to give it, not that it's completely the game's fault as I mentioned, but yea, it was nice overall.
super fun sandbox game! I just wish it worked. glitchiest game I've ever played, sometimes the buttons don't work and you cant open doors or buy items from shops, even though it acts like it worked! reloading the game fixes the problem but it also resets all your stats and inventory, so if you were playing multiplayer, you're now completely useless! just wish a six year old game actually worked on my gaming rig, disappointing. 2/10
da escapwists is about da escapers when dey try and escape da escape lands its a little bitty like cops and robbers when they shoplift and hogger and now i am alcohol free call me sobber (sobah for short NOT to be confused with soda for short) and i am drinking a soddering iron right now and soldering my iron post silk touch era (circa 2006) anywayyyy hi :3
Best game to make me ragequit after farming resources for 1 and a half hours to die to an npc for no reason while having everything i needed to escape
just bought this game on steam after playing on console for a while, still amazing, never gets old, i guarantee youll enjoy it
Top tier game in general. I only bought this on PC cause of the map customizer, but it needs more options.
This game is super fun to play with friends. I love connecting my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller to play on my own. This game is perfect for playing on my own or with others.
I love the custom editor, but PLEASE for the love of god add the ability to make your own room/area presets, or the ability to copy and paste an entire area or room I BEG OF YOU
Its really good for those players who love crafting and figuring out plans! i highly recommend it :]
it just holds ur hand the whole time, theres no way to figure it out for your self or forge your own escape. it feels likep laying an endless tutorial level
Definitely recommend for cooperative gameplay and the extended mechanics from the first one. Highly recommended buy for those finding a good game for friends to play together!
its fun to beat up cops then take there keys and start lockdowns to annoy ur friends
I flooded JackSepticeye's Toilet and beat him up until he wouldn't speak to me.
Also the game is pretty fun with friends.
Super fun. Would be nice if the building prisons menu got expanded for every item in the game and if the 8 cells requirements etc was lifted.
Pretty fun with steam workshop compatibility. If you finish the main game you can always download community made maps.
fun game but bugs tho
Escapists 2 makes me wish Survivalists was Escapists 3. This is a great game held back by its own new ideas. The new ways of escaping a prison is a cool concept that opens up new prison ideas, however it also lowers the difficulty curb. It makes the game feel a little too linear at times and escaping feels like you are just checking off a to do list.
However, the game is still loads of fun. Its witty, clever, and enjoyable, even when the "pre-planned" escapes are a little too easy(looking at the vehicle prisons). Which is why I am severely disappointed that Team 17 decided to create the Survivalists instead of an Escapists 3. It could have combined the best things about this one and then first one to create a near-perfect Escapists experience. Instead we got a game largely forgotten about as soon as it released. Sad, but hey at least they gave us a prison editor.
(Note: I have way more hours on console).
The Escapists 2 is like playing Prison Break, but instead of dramatic speeches and insane plot twists, you’re just a tiny pixel guy digging through a toilet. It expands on the first game in a lot of ways—bigger prisons, co-op, more ways to escape—but honestly? I think the first one had a better vibe.
There was something about the simplicity of The Escapists that made every escape plan feel more rewarding. Here, it sometimes feels like there’s too much going on, and instead of breaking out like a mastermind, you’re just running around, hoping no one notices you chipping away at the wall with a plastic fork. Still, if you’ve ever wanted to live out your Prison Break fantasy—minus the terrible final seasons—this is your game.
So this game straight up shaped my identity. It's where I got my name and half of my online persona so maybe I'm a bit biased. But I like this thing a lot.
pretty cool puzzle game. also you can play with friends so that makes it an even better puzzle game.
A Fun game to play with friends for a few hours. I have played the original, and can say this game is a definite upgrade, and almost no bugs in co-op anymore. Worth picking up on sale, and a bunch of modded prisons that are a fun as well. Currently waiting for the Escapists 3. (Also pay the extra 40 cents for the DLC, you wont regret it!)
I recommend this game. It's more for people who want to relax and get their head off of things. The game is for everyone whether you are a kid or an adult. The game doesn't have any disturbing things or some hard violence. So if you are looking for a game where you can do basically anything you want or you want to kind of relax, this game is for you! :)
Goated Og game. Buy when on sale. I got the 4 dlc maps for only 4 bucks. Absolutely worth it.
UPDATE: Got someone else to buy it and we are completing multiplayer escapes.

The games art style is very good and its level selection allows you to come back to the game. I just wish there were more maps that weren't included in a dlc.
- Its fun to play multiplayer but its more fun and easier with friends bc a lot of the lobbies have passwords
- Very good game tho
- There is also occasional language barrier and some people don't talk but that's all multiplayer games fr
Game is great, I only have played one session as the infamous and well-known degenerate criminal... Clive. This pretentious wannabe hipster is quite the hooligan I must say. It is very safe to assume that his criminal record should not be shared or saved to anywhere else than it need be. In the 3 hours I have spent in the mind of Clive I have since came out a person with a twisted view on bananas and soap, hand cream has also got me pondering on nasty intimate subjects that I really shouldn't be thinking about and surprisingly I now have changed my perspective on brooms - they are sturdy and brown just like my timber from my job wink wink. Yeah anyway this game is not just a game as Ninja would once say.
The Escapists 2 is a solid strategy game that improves on its predecessor in many ways. It offers a variety of prisons, each with unique layouts and challenges, keeping the gameplay fresh. The multiplayer mode adds a fun cooperative element, making escapes more dynamic. The pixel art style is simple but charming, and the crafting system allows for creative problem-solving. However, the game can feel repetitive at times, and some mechanics may be frustrating for new players. Despite these flaws, it’s an enjoyable experience for those who like strategy and planning. Overall, it’s a good but not perfect game.
Absolutely love this game, it's funny, it's mechanics are cool, every prison has a few unique escapes. Really hope they make a third game.
FUN AS HELL!! I flipping love this game so much, fact the devs went out of their way to allow macOS support? INSANE as most steam games on my library require to be run via Whiskey (check it out its sick) and loading times aren't half bad!
Plus maps are rlly challenging (not the easy or medium ones) which is sometimes a great sign for a good game!
(plus i own this game on xbox, amazing to play it on my computer)
A big step up in the graphic department and a huge massive step down in the gameplay aspect. Everything feel very clunky and slow compare to the first game. Combat especially feel weak and not good at all. The introduction of dog is a pretty good one. A welcome one even ,until you realize you can't do anything toward those thing once they charged toward you, peak cringe
any combat situation in this game feels relatively unfair and the option of quick saves and reloading being gone just makes the experience unbearable sometimes
NPC Inmate runs through scanner with contraband no problem.
I run through scanner with contraband, Get jumped by all staff on duty.
While serving my time in solitare I miss roll call
**wanted again as soon as i leave solitare**
Great game!
Decided to give this game a shot again after a few years not touching it.. I played The Escapist (First one) for 33 Hours, and this as of posting the review 8.2. I don't know if its because I'm used to the other but this one is missing a lot that I remember the first one having.
For one being able to use your mouse. If my mouse is below my character that is where i would like to attack. You didn't have this problem in the old one as you selected who you wanted to attack and it automatically attacked. This one the attacking works different unless you push the MMB in which you have a similar lock on feature but worse. The main problem with this game is it is to easy. Weather its the scripted escapes, or giving you a secret stash in your desk, there is just too much help in this game vs The Escapist. More importantly, you don't need to follow the regime. Yes, if you don't show up you will get heat, but if you pop your head in for 2 seconds and leave you are free to roam the prison like your a citizen with no repercussions.
As for the multiplayer I didn't try it recently, but from the past it was fun. However was it fun because I was playing with friends or because I was playing The Escapist 2. I'm thinking the former.
In my opinion if you are wanting to play a game in "The Escapist" series, play the first one. Yes the graphics are worst if you don't like 16bit but what it lacks in graphics it gains in actual game play and proper challenge.
Maybe with friends this is fun, but for me the game never clicked.
The Escapist 2 is about breaking out of prison while following (or strategically breaking) the rules.
I think for me the game fell flat because, after I had spent forever learning a prison, honing my schedule, gathering resources, I would find a scripted escape that was easy to accomplish and it felt like all my work was wasted.
This game is very good! The graphics are very good and its a wonderful puzzle game, with many different prisons to break out of and many ways to break out of them! I would recommend this to people that like a hard puzzle game.
sooo much fun to do when trying to relax has multiplayer also
This game can be fun at times, especially with friends. However, their idea of a difficulty curve is removing more and more sandbox elements to the point where it feels like escaping is just solving a puzzle or trying to figure out what the game 'wants' you to do. To me, this is a HUGE setback for the franchise.
I would totally recommend this game if you enjoy puzzles, teamwork and some hilarious interactions.
Played it with my friends and we totally decided to skip the tutorial that provided some useful insights of how the game works.
First time playing in the medium difficulty mission following through daily routines and trying to find out what to do in game. What to craft. Decided to smack the guards and got brought to solitary confinement peeling potatoes. Tried running naked through the game. Guard thought I was crazy and he brought me to solitary confinement.
Two hours in we became a part of the prison. Following daily routines. Wake up, Role Call, Breakfast, Job, Lunch, Gym, Free time, Job, Dinner, Sleep in that order.
Played the tutorial after that suffering two hour game play. Escaped the prison in 30 minutes.
10/10 would recommend.
it is very fun and although i gave up at first, i came back and managed to escape all of them (except DLC ones) but yeah i recommend this game.
I played the previous release of this series, the Escapists, and I'd say this was an absolute upgrade to the original. With the addition of co-op features, the Escapists 2 experience is completely different and a blast to play. There's also more prisons to explore and escape from that are all more diverse with each one including unique escapes in both solo and co-op.
Hella funny game. I highly recommend with friends.
I was playing a little bit ago with 3 of my friends on a map and we couldn't get out so one of my friends decided that digging out under the electric fence was a good idea. We spent 3 hours on that map dying over and over, my friend who was digging the tunnel started to go crazy cause we weren't out yet, like when we needed just 1 more lumber than we had anticipated he started to laugh hysterically, he laughed even more hysterically when we finally escaped, it was hilarious.

**A great game, both solo and co-op!**
The game boasts plenty of maps, allowing for differing strategy and gameplay, with unique environments and escapes.
The game boasts well designed maps that dont feel empty nor cramped, along with a well stocked library of craftable items, cosmetics, quests and scenery, making every session enjoyable and non-grindy.
The goal of the game is to ofcourse, escape prisons. Every map has multiple ways to get out, fitting the maps environment and setting, some with a larger touch of humor, like shooting yourself from a canon ;). You CAN search up how to escape online, but I find figuring out how to get out via the hints scatterd throughout the map, comprised of arrows, notes in tucked away rooms, dialogue, quests and the crafting menu to be much more enjoyable. Whether you simply want to beat up the entire prison, plan a methodical escape or simply bust through a wall, this game along with its low price point is a great purchase.
The art style combined with the sound design makes the game beautiful as well, while requiring a very low end PC.
If you want to get a preview of some gameplay before purchasing (which you should) you should check out Blitz and BaronVonGames Co-Op series of the game, and if you need tutorials, TheRealGuruMatt is a great channel for that!
Also, sidenote, if you find yourself enjoying the game, I heavily reccomend the DLC's, especially the Wicked Ward DLC. The map along with the escapes offer a great experience.
Game is too hard for newcomers, yes it was all my skills issues.
On top of that sometimes the game get buggy when connection is unstable there's multiple time of prison break impossible to happen because of this bug. It take us multiple games just to diagnose what was the problem.
This bug where the person that have been having connection issues in any given time on the game, will cannot be able to escape later from the prison in the end. Due to some interaction with the objects cannot be met or happens.
Overall not recommended to people who are new to the genre such as myself

Really fun! I really liked escaping some prisons and its a major overhaul of the first escapists
Great prison breaking experience, felt like I was really escaping real prison.
Peak Game, Especially the part where you escape.
10/10!
One of the best game i've ever played. Best experience was playing it with my friend. Totally worth it to buy. Thanks Team 17
