Deck the cells with bars and escape attempts! Christmas has come early in the latest free game update to The Escapists 2, featuring a brand new map – Santa’s Shakedown. Not content with life in a perpetually festive lock-up, you must devise ingenious new ways of getting out of prison without getting caught in the tinsel! Featuring brand new items and some very unique craftables, you must pitch in with new prison jobs such as Christmas tree-decorating and toy soldier construction to blend in until the time is right to ho-ho-hop out of there!
Wrap up warm, grab some fellow inmates if it tickles your fancy, and head to the Play Game menu now to experience Santa’s Shakedown.

Craft your Escape!
Being in prison forces you to be creative and work with the limited tools at your disposal. You’ll have to combine everyday objects like soap and socks to craft new weapons and tools to help you achieve your goal. Steal forks from the cafeteria to chip a tunnel in your room, and craft a poster from magazines and duct tape to hide the evidence. You’ll soon learn that duct tape solves (almost) everything!
Prepare for a fight!
The Escapists 2 introduces a brand new combat system to make every prison brawl more exciting and interactive. You’ll have to block and tie together chains of attacks whilst strafing around your locked on targets to gain the upper hand in combat. Make sure your visit the gym first to build up those muscles!
New ways to escape!
As the prisons get tougher you’re going to have to get more creative with your escape plans. There’s a ton of options to tackle almost any prison escape.
Construct a clink!
With the Prison Map Editor, it’s your turn to construct a prison worthy of housing the toughest inmates! It includes all the rooms, fences and guard dogs you need to build a prison that’s as hard as your imagination makes it – no duct-tape required.
You can pick up those prison blueprints and start crafting your own creations through the Custom Prisons option on the main menu, and when you’re ready you can show the world by sharing them through Steam Workshop where you can download subscribe to fellow architects’ lock-ups – all custom maps can be played either solo or in both local and online multiplayer!

Game's fun for some time but it does get boring after a while. I bought this game while it was on discount, it quickly got boring and was a waste of money. It's quite competitive, it is just breaking out of prison every single time. I already played the mobile version of this game, completed everything so there isn't anything I can do in this game. If this is your first time playing this game then it should be pretty fun.

The Escapists is a fun little experience. The prison-escape sandbox is a great idea for a game and the idea is executed well. However, the major sticking point of this game is the repetitiveness of the gameplay. Every prison escape follows the same broad strokes and it becomes a bit boring after a while. The unique escapes are a really good idea, however, which adds a nice bit of spice to the formula. I'm not too hot, however, on some escapes being locked behind multiplayer. The transport prisons are a fun bit little bit of something else, though they don't really match the quality of the regular prisons. I think I'd cut some of the prisons and make the game a nice little 10-hour jaunt. All in all, if you like a bit of strategic gameplay and the prison-escape genre, the game will make a nice little pickup. 3/5

gameplay very cumbersome
I appreciate what they were trying to go for here, but the original game is far superior. The artstyle is totally different and less appealing, and gameplay and escapes are more confusing and restrictive. It feels like a totally different game from the first. There's much less freedom with many maps having specific scripted ways of escape with little breathing room.
At least it has online play, which is good, but for a game I stopped wanting to play rather quickly, that doesn't do much to save it.

With the "Keep It Clean" achievement, i forgot what tagging was and thought it was doing the graffiti job based on the achievement picture so i spent a few hours just doing the job. Then I googled it and found out it was just spamming "T" to get the achievement. Everything else is great though.

Absolutely, unforgivably bad control system.
I have no clue how any competent developer could have decided that this control system makes sense. Gone is the intuitive and easy to use controls of Escapists 1, and in are controls that are so bad as to make the game unplayable.

Beat the hardest prison in 2 min kinda easy game ngl
I like how there are many ways to escape each prison, and it is intuitive, yet challenging. I also like how multiplayer friendly this game is, as games are always better with friends. Whether we get out immediately or spend hours beating up guards it is a good time.

I love the vibe of escaping unique ways and the realistic way of prison. I love the old type of 2D game and i even got it for my friend so we can play together.{we are addicted}.
If you have someone to play with, it's very fun game, the design of the prisons are unique and very well made, on the other hand, the game gets repetitive, you always do same things, always look for the same parts and craft same tools for escape, most of the tools that you can craft you won't need, and the most you will never know why are there, because you don't need them to escape. It doesn't matter if it's easy, normal or hard prison, the concept is always the same and it doesn't feel fun when you complete all prison in the same way.
I beat up a guard and stole their clothes then they came back angry and tried to fist fight me while still without clothes but I ran away and got shot while nobody else did anything 10/10
Me and my friend love this game so much. It's been a big part of my life recently and after watching DanTDM's play through again I made sure to buy all of the DLC. This is a great game alone and even better with friends...

This game was designed by ubisoft to inspire the poor cats in ubisofts basement to escape. However they do not know there is no escape, the game was designed to trick the cats into thinking they can escape and in reality they enter the next level of the ubisoft backrooms. They have cats entering the second level of cat pumping now, new and freshly installed rooms and equipment, sexual torture machines and methods beyond our comprehension, you dont want to imagine it, you *cant* imagine it. i hope they find a way out its sickening
