English accents are so dreadful that they probably constitute a declaration of war.
Pretty good story game, not too difficult and interesting characters
Good game, especially if you like stealh games.
If has some bugs just restart the level
This is THE PEAK of comic to video game adaptation!
From the absolutely beautiful and stunning visuals, with incredibly good stylization, to the amazing sound design and voices, this game hit absolutely all the right notes when it came to immersing me into the story.
The background and the playable stages we so detailed and well crafted, yet they never felt cluttered and never detracted from the actual events unfolding over them. All due to the genius of the inherent comic book style. The hard shadows and the chat bubbles, which are staples of this genre of media, fit so well in this game. By leaving everything to silhouettes and a few hard contrasting colors, the game really gave me the impression of being a sneaky thief in the shadows. Also the use of the chat bubbles really struck me as an ingenious and faithful way to include the subtitles without feeling like they detract from the scene presented. By having the cutscenes play out in panels, like in a comic book, the developers could predict where to place the "subtitles" so not to disturb the scene, something you can't do with the traditional method of displaying them.
The story is very good and it's pacing is truly well thought out. It never feels like you linger in a place more then you have to, or that you are held up from the action by a conversation. The addition of timed answers to the interactions kept me invested and paying attention to what is happening.
From what i have gathered, this is just the first of 7 installments this series will have, with a story already tried and tested through the gauntlet of The Free Market. The fact that the first three issues of the comic book sold out upon release means that this is just the beginning of an astonishing story.
This game truly captivated me and introduced me to a whole new franchise! It really got me curious about the comic books as well. The sequel can't come soon enough
P.S. : My only grievance with this game are the controls and the movement who felt kind of stiff. But i think that's all due to the clear control scheme having controllers in mind. And sadly, i played this on a PC with a keyboard and mouse.
P.P.S. : I will definitely connect a controller to my PC when i'll do my achievement hunting to overcome this mild inconvenience. Also, achievements do add a neat little incentive to replay the game and see what you've missed the first time around.
Kein Fan von der Kamera.
Shame there wont be a second season, I really enjoyed this. Yes gameplay can be a little clunky in some moments and the camera is suboptimal, but I really enjoyed the narrative and the choices.
The game has a great story, interesting characters, and a great premise but the poor collision God-AWFUL camera really hold the game back from being a great game.
The game is broken up into 4 Chapters. Each chapter has multiple segments of an overarching heist in each one which connect back to the overarching story. The game really excels at making you feel like your choices matter, with each mission having optional side objectives which either reward you with additional character dialogue, making future main objectives easier, or absolutely changing the way the future heists play. The characters are pretty good and are all pretty memorable and listening to them talk to each other is really interesting. You get brief moments to talk to them outside of the heists and ask them questions to get to know them more. The game also has a distinct Comic book art style which makes the characters really stand out after each heist in cut scenes. That's about where my praise ends though.
The game has a really cool premise, however it just kinda fails to deliver on the game play aspect. Some objectives, like lock-picking, hacking, safe-opening and pick-pocketing just begin to feel really repetitive after awhile. I really wish they used the disguise mechanic a little bit more, its only really used in like 2 parts of the game and it sucks. Movement is a bit clunky and I often found myself getting stuck on objects while moving around. This is further not helped by the AWFUL camera. The camera just has a tendency to be in the WORST position possible at any given time and while you *can* adjust it using the middle mouse button it only has two settings and they both usually suck. The camera makes it hard to see off screen guards, messes with your depth perception or makes it difficult to find what objective you're trying to do. There would be times where I'd get lost and seamlessly walk around the buildings looking for what i needed, only for me to find it out of camera view or for me to have to restart checkpoint because the game glitched and I couldn't progress.
For achievement hunters: There are a few achievements in the game which will require you to replay some of the missions multiple times to get them all. Some achievements require specific quick-time dialogue choices and span multiple chapters. no achievement in the game is technically "missable" per say as there's a mission/chapter select option in the main menu, but having to replay the same missions (or multiple if ya mess up) is a bit tedious and can get frustrating. i still enjoyed it, but having to backtrack and replay stuff multiple times isn't for everyone so I thought I'd leave this a note.
Overall, despite the negatives I did enjoy the game and would recommend playing it, especially if it goes on sale or if you enjoy stealth/heist games. I hope the game maybe gets a second Season, though since it's been a few years I'd say that's unlikely, as the devs appear to have moved on to other projects.
Honestly I wish I didn't have to give this game a thumbs down. I did enjoy it for the most part. The story is fun, I'm a fan of the aesthetic and visuals and game play wise it had some neat ideas.
And it not a long game, doesn't out say its welcome. That all being said, this game could of had more time in the oven personally.
How they have the camera is not great for the stealth and sneaking game play, and a lot of the time there is a lot of trial and error at times when either you mess up or you can't see whats going on beyond your view.
A plus point there is the reloading speeds are quick and the auto-saving is quite generous.
You also tend to get stuck on objects during tense moments which don't help with the frustration.
And one last thing, and this could just be me. It doesn't close properly. It freezes every time I exit to desktop and I have to force close it every single time.
Overall, I do like this game. But still I wouldn't recommend it. Consider this a "Buyer Beware" post.
