Really loved this game and it turned on one of my favs for sure!! Also cried a lot in the end...
Seriously, it worths a lot. You'll not regret buying this game!!
Dontnod really created a masterpiece of a game and later, series. It really is a game...no, an experience that's impossible to forget.
beautiful story, choices really do affect the outcome.
I played through this game like 3 times on different devices (plan on doing a 4th for silly on steam)
It's not insanely good
There isn't much choice
But sesbian lex so funny
This game is really good! Definitely one of my favourites. The story is amazing and well thought out, and I definitely love the general aesthetic. The gameplay isn't so intense, but if story is your thing, this game is for you
Beautiful game. Highly recommended if you like to get lost in a story and wish you could erase your memory to live it all again.
An intimate diary tribute to the 10th anniversary of Max’s journey.
It used to be a tradition for me to play Life is Strange every New Year’s Eve when visiting my childhood home. So many memories intertwine with it. Jumping up and down on the bed losing my mind after the 3Ep twist. Bugging my classmates with a basket of theories and insane lore about the game's development. Cutting my hair slowly bit by bit until it eventually resembled Max's. I learned Spanish Sahara by heart and played it non-stop on the ukulele I begged my parents to buy. Even the wall of my room was decorated in Max's style – a tradition I carry to all the homes, or the resemblance of homes, I've changed along the way. In 11th grade, I made Max’s journal from scratch, it was one of my favorite pieces in the room, taking a notable place among my own personal and school diaries. I remember playing the 4th episode on a school week until 6am and going straight to school all hyped and simultaneously out of it. When Episode 5 came out, I sobbed for two weeks! My best friend at that time and I woke up so early that day, purposefully missed school, and spent all day immersed in that final chapter – her watching a live stream and I cursing at my old computer unable to handle Max’s time jumping shenanigans; of course, taking occasional breaks for comparing our declining emotional stability. Life is Strange carried me from that final school year straight to University, helping me figure out some stuff about my own life along the way; as it did to many. Every time I turn it on now it just turns into a crying fest. From love, of course. But also sorrow.
Over the years, I’ve read so many players' intimate recollections prompted by the game's content; random snippets of people’s most vulnerable life stories sprinkled over each social media platform. Simply something awoken in people of all ages and backgrounds, perhaps by the game’s mellow nostalgic aesthetics and unabashed willingness to attune to the finest memories and emotions of our hearts. It was rather pleasant to witness the resurgence of LiS fandom in late 2024, collectively reminiscing on our intimate interaction with the story, the newfound change in perspectives, and the passionate desire to mutually share all the warmth we still have for its characters.
Living through Max was foundational for me, a self-conscious girl growing into confident adulthood with innocence violently ripped away from her. It was simply an average coming-of-age process, growing up and seeing a world from a different perspective, learning to connect and empathize with those around, learning from them and finding our own flaws and desires, recognizing them and growing to be better. But also a darker experience of going through my own sexual assault, of losing my own innocence, shifting and modifying the self to perhaps be more cynical and pragmatic, of maybe seeing the world through a darker yet necessary lens. Yet, ultimately, all of it forming one unified identity that is nevertheless a beautiful landscape of variable experiences and lessons; adulthood. I will always love the character of Max dearly. I will always cry noticing the gradual change of her vibrant diary doodles to objective, subdued in color entries with each passing chapter. I will always cry for the innocent love Max finds in non-innocent circumstances. The exploration of Max’s fractured mind following the violation will always mean the world to me, back in 2015 making me feel seen and motivated to start my own tumultuous journey of healing. I will always be grateful for Don’t Nod creating this beloved gamified companion to project our own internal worries onto, our transformations, and dreams; to reach intimate answers through a bittersweet, meditative experience.
Life is Strange maintains sheer gratitude and wonder for each part of our environment while not rejecting the truth of the shadows stretching over the world’s corners. Finding beauty in the industrial powers of small towns, their nature, expansion in infrastructure, transformation of beliefs, unique differing people, and their interconnected messy ties to each other: as colleagues, students, friends, lovers. Finding beauty in the contrast of lives cut short, resentments, domestic disputes, destructive truths, violence, and uncertainty of tomorrow. Creating a living, breathing town that wishes to continuously evolve, grow, and adapt to the changing population making up its geographical landscape. Rachel Amber’s character is perhaps the most compassionate interpretation of Laura Palmer’s image I have seen, Chloe’s uncensored journey of clawing through grief calls to the most helpless moments of my own 19old self, and the understanding of violence captured in a human-shaped form still wounds me deeply: of course, so much of LiS was inspired by and carried love for David Lynch’s legacy.
It's not so much the content of media; over time it becomes something bigger than its key narrative points. Rather, the events it accompanied in life, the memories you associate it with. That's when stories become truly dear to the heart no matter the years passed. It simply evokes a subdued feeling, like a thread granting the privilege to time travel to your own thoughts, memories, tastes, smells, relationships, places.
I tried replaying this game in so many locations now it can be drawn onto a map, like a shi+ty road trip. But I never lasted very long, about 30 minutes before I lose my cool completely and start thinking of the hand-drawn picturesque walls of my school. Of the captured memories sprinkled over my walls. Of the path to my home from school, from my friends, from the center, from my mom's job, from the park, from the waterfront. Of the last school days and giving away my books. Of getting closer with my classmates and finally understanding how similar we are. Of looking out my window, the windows of my friends, the windows of my school – and seeing sunsets, sunrises, golden hours, whirlwinds, blizzards, screeching hot days. Of dark days. Of town spots I avoid. Of town spots I wish could stay with me. A living breathing town… trapped in hazy, fleeting pieces of memory. Out of reach, a resemblance of something that used to be, overwritten by new places and people – when it's one of the last anchors you have to that past you cannot go back to. Learning to hold the value of delicate memory, accept darkness, and cherish its lighter undertones.
Finally replaying the game after these years, I’ve been finding new connections with Arcadia Bay, of the radical shift it makes from a nostalgic warm town to a harbor of ruin. How it strongly encompasses both, yet neither. I’ve been thinking of how the geography of my town has been modified, its prior identity forever wiped away. I’ve been countering the grief of losing childhood physically and emotionally with the fleeting traces of glee that used to be. On dark days, I will always hold on to the memory of sitting on the hot-to-the-touch boulder stone with my childhood friend, giggling about our new life developments, surrounded by forestry of a quiet park and bright sun. Of looking around me and seeing kids become more expressive in their identities, unafraid to look, think, and love however they please. Of regularly visiting my school and checking in to see if the asphalt drawing we made in dedication to our class teacher has faded away, or the chamomiles covering the school’s entrance are still greeting the children. Of peaking outside from the large plants covering my mom’s windowsill and seeing the rose we have planted outside slowly rise and bloom. Of always having a prepared 2h15m playlist to accompany me on the trip to my town from the nearby big city.
Nowadays, Life is Strange transports me to the hot summer days of my home.
I will always be grateful for having a chance to time travel.
+ really good and enjoyable story
+ the soundtrack singlehandedly changed half of my entire music taste
+ never knew what to expect on my first playthrough
+ native Linux support
+ Samuel best waifu
10/10, I HIGHLY recommend this game to lovers of story games, it may not go on sale but it's worth it for the 20€
also I'm writing this review on January 30th 2025, so happy 10th birthday to Life is Strange!!
Life is Strange is a game that focuses on realistic storytelling. The voice acting is impeccable, which is impressive because there are some very emotional scenes, the motion-captured animations are on point, and environments look like someone's drawing of real locations. Even though a large part of the soundtrack consists of licensed songs, it fits perfectly with the place and mood of the story. it's almost like the songs were written for this game. Every character, even side characters, is so real, it's impossible to not feel anything for them.
Life is Strange isn't a game you just play, it's a highly traumatic life experience you go through. You don't come out the same person afterwards. It's one of those games that makes you interrogate your own decisions in life.
And I want to add that the nightmare scene was one of the coolest horror experience I've ever had, and it managed to do that without using jump scares or other cheap things like hazy environments. And I'm someone who doesn't like horror.
Happy 10th anniversary to LiS!!
It's an AMAZING game. Incomparable to any other. It's convinced me to play other games in the franchise. But I don't think anything else can beat this. From the story-line, to the gameplay - it's unbeatable. It's like a little time capsule of the 2010's culture, which I also love.
its a really great story game would definently play this game before playing the newer ones
This was the most realistic, relatable, drama, game I've ever played. It makes you wonder what their life is all about and what come's first. It makes you question yourself "What if i didn't made that decision, or did" It bring's the reality of things or what should have been.
Absolutely incredible story. 10/10
Also runs on a potato so that's nice.
Perfectly blend in comedy and cringe, the detective element does the heavy lifting alot, played this game if you want to nostalgia and Scott pilgrim story alike
P/S: set anti-aliasing to disable and low, MSAA 4x also worked but just completely disable it because it cause weird graphic black outline bugged tf out
Cannot recommend this game enough. For me, it's one of the first story rich games I've ever played, and I'm blown away by it. It feels unique to the player, and you're sucked in by seeing the consequences of the actions you actually chose. If you haven't played this, you NEED to play it.
Very interesting to see how your choices can affect the next part of your game-play, and the rewind mechanic is super cool. I love the characters and can't wait to finish the game.. 10/10 recommend.
Overrated. Definitely. The main disadvantage is poor characters. They are more like sketches and overly exaggerated. So the dialogues are empty and drawn out. It looks like an average teen drama. But frankly, it is really difficult to create something that reflects the existential problems of late puberty better than "13 reasons why" - so it’s really feebly in comparison. The antagonist is a complete disappointment. The authors diligently tried to discribe the inner logic of a maniacal psychopath, but it seems like they give up halfway. It came off indistinctly. The game mechanics and puzzles are simple, but nice.
As plus - there are emotionally difficult moments, dilemmas and choices that really significantly affect the plot + the last location is nice at surrealistic way. In general, the game can be affecting, but it is better to play at an earlier age. If you've dealt with your teen rebel and outcast complex, it's not very interesting anymore.
The game is small, so it's possible and even pleasant to spend one evening - there are beautiful graphics and visual metaphors.
It's a great game. I learn a lot about life, friendship, family and moments.
I've been wondering for a long time whether "Life is Strange" is a game I could recommend or not, since it has very positive reviews and a slew of fans. I also expected such an experience. Unfortunately, I have to admit that the game disappointed me. Don't get me wrong, I fell in love with the demo version (chapter one), which promised an elaborate crime story with several suspects and lots of decision-making. We were introduced to the characters along with our heroine (Max), as she was new to the school. It promised a story full of excitement, mystery and consequences of our choices.
Unfortunately, after purchasing the full version of the game, with all the chapters (21 hours played), the spell faded in several different ways:
1. The game turned out to be a delusion of the consequences of the choices (except for the final decision at the end - although this one is disappointing in terms of the logic of the choice and the realization of the consequences, especially in the case of one final).
2. The game deliberately distracts us from some characters, completely forgetting them as criminal suspects. Because of this, we are unable to gather evidence in their case. Which is then supposed to cause surprise, shock, etc. - A cheap, ineffective ploy.
3. Overly cinematic final chapters. At one point in the game, there was so much story told in interludes and stills that for most of the chapter, the player had nothing to do but minor linear activities that contributed nothing. This killed my immersion and and even more my sense of control and decision-making.
4. Little bugs. The ending cutscenes have a number of close-ups of characters talking without their mouths moving. There are so many of them that at some point it becomes uncomfortable. The time reversal system is also sometimes unintuitive and can erase a decision even though it was not intended.
**[Warning: little spoilers]**
5. Final decisions: It is supposed to arouse emotions, but whether it does so is not necessarily the case. The first ending looks good and emotional, but the second one is dull and bland. In addition, it shows that everything we did throughout the game is irrelevant to our protagonist Max (all the friendships we've made, the lives we saved, etc.). That's not how you write good endings.
6. Imbalance in the characterization of the characters. Just as most of the characters are good written (they have their own motives, secrets, behaviors and are believable), I cannot say the same about two of the main characters who should arouse sympathy - Chloe and (maybe) Warren.
The friendship between Max and Chloe is, in my opinion, completely one-sided. Chloe uses Max's skills like a toy, she doesn't accept criticism, she's explosive and I didn't get the impression that she actually cared about her friend or even respected her, her character and way of being. Thus, he forces her to engage in various activities, even though Max points out that such activities are not to her liking or even can hurt her. Despite this, Max keeps repeating wonderful words about lifelong friendship and can also create a love bond with her. The only positive aspect of Chloe's character is at the end, when she realizes all these elements and talks about them, and makes her first unselfish decision.
As for Warren, he's written strangely. He's supposed to be a geek with a crush on Max, and he basically is, but throughout the entire game I had the impression that there was something strange about him and that he was hiding something.
Wow! Such a surprising and powerful game! The best things about this game are the story and the possibility of make choises and this way "direct" how the sroty and game proceeds. There are many great quests to complete and this way bring some change and deepening to the experience. Highly recommended!
spoiler warning amazing i cried alot being a teen with lots and lots of problems it amazing but sad man i wish i had a friend like chloe also anyone else suck at making different decisions like the final one i cant lose her i cant not pick her but serioulsy this game is amazing sorry devs your other games suck besides before the storm like gameplay wise there better but the conection between max and chloe is just built different man
This is truly core game for me, one of my favorite games of all time. Emotionally thrilling & Intense through its subtleties. Better than any show could ever offer me.
Looking back at this game to now from where the Life is Strange Universe has gone.
This game will, and always be the best in the series.
Apart from the price point, the story writing and character choices changing the outcome of the story is excellent.
It's a game that you can connect with the characters and the story.
This is the only game after rdr2 that has managed to make me cry,Even 11 years old this game is a masterpiece im so happy i bought this game, and got the chance to witness the adventures of max and chloe. As Chloe would say
"Don't you forget about me...Max Caulfield"
i won't forget this game ever in my life looking forward to
'life is strange: Before the storm'
Probably one of my all time favorite games from this series. I played the second one but I still prefer the first installment more.
I adored this game to the fullest extent, and I bawled my eyes out at the end. The entire story is so captivating, beautiful, but most importantly, devastating. If you're into puzzle-ish story games that have twists and tragedy, you've come to the right place.
Such an interesting game, I love how every little decision you make has it's own consequences.
Awesome story line and great character development.
this game is my personal favorite of all time and it has been for awhile. the relationship dynamic between max and chloe is astounding and well written. the choices matter aspect of the game really gives you a chance to really play with the game and get into it more on a more personal level. 1000/10 game!!!!
Great game. While the story is a bit predictable, it's still very entertaining and engaging to play through. Game does a very good job of making you consider all your options and the responses/actions you choose.
Brilliant game, adventure-thriller, very immersive and interesting concept. I've played through 3 times and enjoyed the journey each time; has its powerful moments too.
I wouldn't waste my time with Life is Strange 2 or later though; very disappointing compared to this masterpiece.
i love love love how special max is. i love any kind of story game with a weird plot (in a good way) and my favorite part is how max can rewind time to help save someone or something. i don't have a least favorite part of the game. this is truly way more than five stars and i've been wanting to play this for a very long time, and i will say, to anyone who buys this: you are NOT going to waste your money!! this is the second best purchase i've made and i wish i could play it for the first time again. personally, i'd say that the tornado is the hardest part, because there's so many places you can go and so little time, and you can get lost. i had to use a guide for it. thank you, developers, for making this game... it has actually gotten me out of bed. i can't wait to play the second part!!!
Life is Strange is a choice-driven narrative where you lives through the live of a college girl, Max, returning to her hometown and discovers her newfound time rewind power with her old bestfriend, Chloe.
Throughout the whole game, Max saw many unfortunate events happen through her own eyes. Just as Max was using her rewind power to right every small wrongs around her, (huge spoiler alerts) from saving her bestfriend from being shot to preventing car accidents that happen years ago, the game shows you the courses of events you have changed and hits you with a message that ultimately, there is something bigger in life than righting the wrongs. To me, Max's story tells us that there is so much in life that is out of our control, and no matter how horrible the consequence is, we will need to learn to adapt to it.
The aesthetics in game are hand-painted and give you an artsy and authentic feel. The writing and voice actor lines are quirky and don't shy away from expressing different dimension of a typical teenager (e.g. awkwardness, punk attitude). I also love the way they use their soundtracks to do the storytelling, like Obstacles, To All of You, Spanish Sahara. I listen to the tracks outside of the game and honestly, they not only tell you a bit of some characters' music taste, the lyrics of the tracks also make sense in the story context. I sometime suspect they build cut scenes or story context around an entire track.
Would highly recommend for people who like story-driven game or just high school drama in general - 10/10
Really great game that is just barely above a walking sim. Story is compelling, and the choices you make do impact the story. Its fun for a 20 hour experience and story.
A game i'll always cherish, the story told here is hella good and no matter how many times i visit this game i always tear up. The visuals stand the test of time, props to the art direction of this game. The gameplay is what you can expect from a narrative, choice driven game but i love it anyways and the time rewind mechanic is pretty good. This game is one of those games you have to play before you die and i can't recommend it enough to today's and upcoming generation.
(Overall Rating- 4.2/5)
Life is Strange is an incredible, emotional game with a captivating story full of heartfelt moments and tough choices. It beautifully explores deep relationships and the lasting impact of our decisions.
I definitely recommend it!
A phenomenal game that pushed the boundaries of storytelling by combining cinematic techniques with the adventure video game genre.
I’ve had many gaming experiences that I remember fondly. I love Final Fantasy 1 and 2 (aka 4 in Japan) and will never forget the moment when the whale rises from the water or Kain betrays you AGAIN… I have memorable addictive gaming experiences with Civilization 2, King’s Bounty, and Sim City 2000. These are gaming moments of history where I was not only entertained but my life or world was changed in some way from the experience.
Life is Strange is one of those moments of gaming history for me. Because technology needed a long time to evolve enough for complex gameplay, video games and movies were far apart. It’s almost like you had three worlds: the book world where you could enter deep, entrenched worlds, movies with narrative and spectacle, and video games for shooting aliens or stomping on goombas. But those worlds collided as two genres, the adventure game genre and the blockbuster action game, began to create games that resembled movies with everything from credits before and after the game, cinematic cutscenes, and deep story and dialogue. While the latter was more about helping you understand why you were on your quest to kill the bad guys, the former was all about experiencing another world through the perspective of the protagonist, and unlike movies and (non-Choose Your Own Adventure) books, you controlled his or her actions and participated in the story—effectively, you made it happen.
And Life is Strange brought many of those elements together—along with its contemporaries like Telltale’s The Walking Dead series—to have games with storytelling, decision making, and cinematic scenes that almost made you feel like you were playing a movie. And its story touched millions of people. Playing as Max and interacting with her classmates as well as her best friend Chloe and her family, you experience the best of the teenage angst genre, the time-travel genre, and the mystery/suspense genre all at once. And it has a killer (pun not intended) soundtrack to boot.
The Positives
-The characters are very memorable and either likable or fun or interesting. Max—other than her virtue-signaling-before-virtue-signaling-was-a-thing habit of thinking that everything that everyone does is “so interesting”—is adorable and has plenty of things that you get to do as her throughout the game. Everything from little optional side stories of D&D gaming with friends to the slice-of-life moments of swimming with Chloe at the school after hours. And even though I was probably one of the few to admit that Chloe is a total annoying brat who gets away with it because she’s attractive, I still came to like her despite her flaws.
-The graphics are beautiful. When I heard they came out with a remaster, I was wondering why they needed one. I’m sure it is great, but I thought the first one was great already. The butterfly, the characters, the environments…it’s great.
-The story sucks you in. I like how you’re just a kid in class one moment and then *bam* everything changes in a moment. What a way to start this adventure. And there’s always a new twist or a fun set piece and slice-of-life moment in the next scene.
-Peak of video games as an art form. Art is about sharing stories and perspectives with others. This draws upon artsy shows like Twin Peaks and combines those themes with fun ideas from Back to the Future, Groundhog Day, and 80s teen comedies. And what comes out of those inspirations is a great game that feels like a movie that I controlled and I remember it as if I was in a movie theater and not playing a game.
The Negatives
-Reviewing this years after I played it, I have to mention that the series and developers went downhill quickly by joining the movement of politicizing/“activizing” their games. Note that, fortunately, the developers wanted to make it an anthology and so they created other stories and didn’t ruin this one (note: I have not played the sequel, which was made by another developer). But this game was amazing in that it was just a normal game and you could choose whether you were friends or more with Chloe in the most organic way—so organic that I was surprised to have the option to kiss Chloe because I thought we were best friends. That’s how great and subtle it was. Reminds me of Dragon Age where you could romance anyone but only if you chose to pursue it.
-As I mentioned, Max’s thoughts can often be corny like they were written by someone who asked themselves what a kind person would be thinking about anything at any given time. Max thinks that everything is awesome all the time.
-You might not like how many clichés/tropes are used if you think that makes something derivative or unoriginal—I loved it because I love the time-travel genre, but I respect if you want something completely original.
-There are a lot of posts on the internet about plot holes and such, but I don’t think that any of them were too bad.
It’s hard to think of anything negative to say about this game as it’s so good. To this day, I still listen to the Syd Matters songs from the soundtrack the way that a Say Anything fan would listen to In Your Eyes or a Back to the Future fan would listen to The Power of Love. And it takes me back to the moment with the Butterfly and how I was sucked into a wonderful fantasy world for a while to enjoy pretending to have super powers and get to make consequential choices and take meaningful actions to help people in the story. And for that, I highly recommend that anyone should play it. Phenomenal game. I don’t recommend the other LIS anthology games, but this one is on my favorite games of all time list.
How do I start this review?
Life is Strange is one of, if not my favorite game of all-time. It's an amazing experience, with a world and characters that I can't help but fall in love with.
First of all, the soundtrack. It's amazing, and I listen to it almost daily while on the bus, in a car, or when I'm taking a walk. Probably my favorite soundtrack.
Secondly, the story. It's seriously amazing. I adore it. I really shouldn't have to say more.
I do highly reccommend this game, however there are still some negatives.
First of all, the graphics. The game is almost 10 years old, and it shows. While I still very much do prefer the original over the remaster, neither of them look all that great. Some of it adds to the charm, but some of it does remind you of the game's age.
Second, the dialouge. While I myself don't find this too much of a problem, the dialouge is rather repetitive at times, and some of the characters do sometimes say things that give of some "how do you do fellow kids" energy. Didn't bother me, but still something to keep in mind.
Thank you for reading this review, and I hope you enjoy the game if you do decide to buy it!
un juego que no puedes perderte, te atrapara y lo jugaras hasta el final.
digno de estar en tu biblioteca.

A really good storyline, with some really good gameplay. Loved the majority of the puzzles, though some are seriously annoying - going back time and time again to get the right outcome is so frustrating!!
Life is strange is one of the best story games I have ever played, it is a little slow at the start but its worth the wait because this is an amazing game would 100% recommend.
If you like beautiful scenerys and nice storytelling just go in blindly and
I promise that you won’t be dissapointed and it might just change your perspective on life
Don't search anything and go into this blind. Quite literally changed my outlook on life- one of a kind story with an amazing soundtrack and fleshed out characters.
I loved this this Game in my last play through, the rewind ability being used just in the right places, just enough to make it feel like what you do actually changes the outcome as well as trying to see every one of the outcomes for a given scenario, it's just brilliant.
The developers put their heart into the game and it shows. The lore the characters and the exploration feels so in depth even if its just point and click
What a beautiful game! And the music is just cherry on top!!!
Definitely recommended!
This game is breathtaking and explores themes of grief, sacrifices, friendships, and much more. I purchased the game thinking I'd love it and it thoroughly exceeded my expectations. The game teaches you about accepting fate, and anguish, and that what happens is meant to happen for a reason. The game also repeatedly reminds you that whatever you alter or obtrude will lead to consequences.
Although the game is 10 years old at the time of this review, Life is Strange is timeless with its beautiful immersive art style. It carries a hand painted texture with warm and moody lighting, complementing very well the depth of the story. For instance, this art lets the game expose raw and sincere moments in the human experience which is a reason this game has parts that feel lived in and very raw. Examples of this can be found in a lot of the dynamic moments that occur between Chloe and Max. It does an amazing job of capturing their relationship and weaving vulnerability and unspoken emotions into moments. Although the game mainly focuses on Max and Chloe's relationship, tender moments such as theirs can be seen when Max interacts with Warren and several other characters.
Additionally, the game has so much depth to it. The game makes players understand the weight of their choices and ensures that they understand this by creating a thoroughly consistent dynamic environment surrounded by these choices that players make. The game feels so alive and also has so much detail for it being made in 2015. The game includes past texts on Max's phone that you can read through which allow the player to obtain some insight on Max's backstory when just starting out. There are also several items, graffiti, and posters that foreshadow and hint at many events that the player may face, or just events that are occurring in the background of the game. the soundtrack for Life Is Strange also fits perfectly and sets up an emotional resonance for a majority of the scenes.
Overall the game leaves you with a very crucial lesson which is that every action has a reaction.
