Amazing game, it provides the following;
+ Great way to spend time, especially if you've played the game "Sand:Box" which is this, but 2d on mobile devices.
+ Very optimized, felt almost no lag at all with many things going on
~ Control schemes are a little off, and that seems like a concurrent issue with multiple people, but it doesn't hurt the game play really once you learn what to do.
- Low material count doesn't let you mess with all that much.
General suggestions:
+ Add some more materials! I know everybody's saying this but personally I want to build a uranium power generator, closest I can get is lava right now.
+ Add different pixel sizes, resizing the box is very cool, but the pixel density stays the same so everything becomes super big or small.
+ Add a tutorial on how to use the controls, that way the offset UI isn't that bad
+ Make it so liquid / moving things are affected by actual gravity, so when I flip the box upside-down the entire cube flips. This could also be toggle-able (like in Sand:Box) in the menu.
This project is definitely worth purchasing if you want to waste some time, very fun to mess with and have a good time.
very underrated game this is the most relaxing games i have playing of my decade experience of playing video games
Its like drawing with tiny blocks in VR.
Need more updates
Loving this game, which is a lot like the Hell of Falling Sands Game. I used to play that game all the time when I was in younger in school. Nostalgia. Sometimes you just need to chill and blow up stuff. Only thing that would be nice is larger (more squares) play space, but it looks like from the description the dev has plans to make a bigger area at some point.
great game, love the idea! doesn't have all that many elements, but great nonetheless!
i loved this game when i was young seeing it in vr has brought that love back. i cant wait for them to add everything the original dust game and more.
Probably the most fun I've had with my Vive next to Beat Saber. It's a simple and straightforward concept, and the execution is done well.
A few things that might be neat improvements:
* Make the source dropping another option on the pallette instead of a button shortcut.
* The button help can be a little confusing in where it renders on the controllers.
* More material types, like acid, worms, steam, etc.
* Sounds for like crackling fire or something similar.
Anyways, it's a super neat project!
EDIT 2:
Figured out how to place source but it dosn't seem to line up with the label. You have to hold the menu button on the right controller.
EDIT:
The dev added some things I asked for!
And the controls are working better, but the 'place source' option still dosn't work for me, idk if its a problem on my end
Anyway I would recommend it for 4.99 now.
I do recommend this game to insane people like me who have to try every single powder toy game, because the basic voxel powder physics works well.
I cannot recommend it to the average user yet because the controls still don't seem to work completely even after the update.
I can only place elements, change brush size, and move the box. None of the other actions seem to work. (maybe you should add a ghost controller model to make it more clear where the labels are pointing.)
Also I would like the following additions:
-The ability to rescale everything by using both grip buttons like in google tilt brush
-The ability to save and share saved games
-More elements (multi, steam, wood, ice, lava, etc like in other powder toy games)
I realize all those things would require additional development time. I'll change my review to recommend if the controls are fixed.
Wow! first of all, my standing on this game is very bias due to the fact I played a game like this growing up called "The Sandbox"
This is a game where you can made a small pixel style map and explore what happens when you combine things! It is very basic at the time of this review (02/09/2019) but I have high hopes for this! the developer response to a bug I had when i first started playing that made it to where I was not able to play using vive was in all things considered in this day and age of developers and companies treating consumers like trash, consistent and on point!
Some things I really think this game could use is some of the stuff you can do in The Sandbox, like making batteries with acid and metal, and have a small update log to show new things that you update the game with, I can see this game doing so much and it is exciting just thinking about reliving some childhood memories in VR like this!
And as for things i would add to the HUD of the game, make a new control overlay for vive users! it is not too important but it wold make playing this less of a guessing game on vive.
keep up the hard work Phylliida, this game can be considered a little must have gem in VR if you take these ideas and move forward with them! Maybe even make map packs that have objectives and all types of crazy stuff!
