Huge modding capability, loads of fun when you install a few, or even the game raw, 10/10, would buy again
I haven't played the game for too long but from what i can tell so far it's pretty good!!! With the release of the full game, added story mode and new features I have come to really enjoy my time. Mods is the next best thing, there are HUNDREDS of mods ranging from The Outer Rim (Star Wars Mod that's game changing) to something simple like a cheat saver and the integration is easy!!! highly recommend this game for those seeking a thrilling and fun play style or those who want to be a wizard Orr those Psychos who really want to feel the power of someones life in your very hands and decimate all those in your path (like me)
I can't wait to see how much this game will grow, it is already so incredibly fun.

This is the panicle of VR gameplay, I don’t care what steam awards says, while I only have 7.5 hours on steam, I’ve played a lot in the meta quest app and nomad version. Amazing game
Played this much more on Nomad (quest port), but It's a fantastic game I think anyone who has gained their VR legs should play! Mods are pretty awesome too!
Let me preface this review by saying I love this game and, in most regards, fully recommend it as a must-have for your VR collection. However, I am giving this a downvote and keeping that downvote until one major issue is fully resolved;
There is a completely game-bricking bug that occurs anytime the game updates, you change mods, or just randomly for no reason at all. This bug makes it impossible to even progress past the main menu; As soon as you load in, your view and laser pointer for the menu are locked in place and cannot be moved. You can open the SteamVR menu to unlock your view, but your laser pointer will remain permanently stuck. This makes it impossible to even start the game, let alone play it.
Over the years, this bug has persisted and has continued to be the single worst roadblock in anyone's enjoyment of Blade & Sorcery. This NEEDS to be addressed and fully resolved, no more workarounds or "just reinstall" copes. Yes, the only way to currently get around the bug once it inevitably happens is to fully delete the game (even your saves in the Documents folder of your computer) and then reinstall it. This is completely unacceptable for a game in "full release."
I will continue to hold a downvote on this game until this bug is fixed. There is no rhyme, reason, or excuse for it to still be present after all these years.
Excellent VR Sword fighting game, physics based combat is amazing, and modding makes replay ability near unlimited. Absolutely worth it if you can run the game on your PC very well.
Its not bad, I really cant give an honest Vanilia review at all? Because I solely played this for the Outer Rim mod star wars mod. But, in any case.
So, i came in with high expectations, but the AI really sucks at using Lightsabers lol. They usually suck at blocking, and you can just cut them into pieces.
otherwise, the game is fun, thats what matters most.
the most fun i've had in vr so far, its like a sandbox vr game with everything you can do violently to an npc. includes in game mods you can download and mods from nexus

while the world is not the most pretty if you get too close, has beauty, and a great modding community, strong but simple game-play, lore notes, and weapons make up for a great time. even if you do not decide to use spells. figuring out enemy movements IS a challenge, especially lining up that perfect counter. weather flailing or skilled swords person, there's room to learn and enjoy. even if it takes a friend or two to figure out casting. spells.
Unlike many, gore is a big feature of the game that thankfully can be toggled off. it is violent. it is obvious.
id recommend a mind crystal for an easier start- or gravity.
ps: Dont Rush to the finishing story! find all the little secrets first. if you can~
- if you see a weapon you enjoy, you should try to get it then, randomization feels strongest after a Delgarian ruin mission for new gear.
with mods:
you can sell a weapon back for equal price to get one you really want in a pinch.
variety of historical weapons, fantasy armors, and more!
easier to throw enemies that are by default weighted as stone castles.
Absolutely phenomenal game and most fun I've ever had, but hope meta and steamvr fix their jank software soon. Cant count on two hands the problems I've had with both, had to reinstall and tweak around with them tens of times. Kudos to warpfrog and everyone else whose contributed to the game.
for my computer its a little laggy but it can be fixed by getting some storage. overall its an amazingly realistic and fun game with a lot of map's, Items, And fighting. You can download mods in the actual game. so yeah i recommend you play this if you like fighting with mods and other stuff. WARNING it has a lota blood heh.
Really amazing game, if it had dlss and the option to upgrade the graphics it would be the best vr game ever.
I dont have much to say, this is my favorite vr game, lots of mods, great community and devs, and I could play this forever. This the closest you can get to combat in ready player one. And the best graphics, the bugs are funny sometimes, but they get patched quickly.
This game is one of the greatest game in vr,there is no better feeling that decapitating someone or throwing them across the map in a ridiculus way or make a very cinemating combat
Great sandbox! mediocre story mode
if you just wanna hop into VR and punch/stab people the game is EXCELLENT, you get a huge array of magic and weapons to use to slice and dice even with just vanilla and it's designed to be incredibly moddable(modding is literally a couple buttons away on the main menu)
now if you prefer a more structured story mode with goals to achieve then I really cannot recommend crystal hunt, it's incredibly bland, you are just going through the same few parts of dungeons but randomly stuck together in ways that left me often just asking WHERE DO I GO, rather than really feeling like I was exploring, a huge amount of dead ends with no reward, combat that feels pointless as enemies have nothing of value on them and only one single boss fight in the form of a golem that you will probably enjoy fighting about twice, then it starts just feeling like a chore cause it's almost exactly the same EVERY TIME, and you'll need to fight it I believe 6 times to actually beat crystal hunt(I've tried to beat it a couple times but I just lose interest every time)
Don't let my complaining fool you, I LOVE this game, it's just what it does well is hard to describe without playing it yourself as it's just an incredibly smooth combat sandbox, just probably skip crystal hunt.
I loved this game from day 1, I decided to get a VR headset a good number of years ago, finding an Oculus Rift S going cheap nearby, I didn't expect my computer to handle it well but this game was one of the first games I got. It initially struggled but it was just about playable, having sessions playing this with friends was great fun.
With the new update, everything got much more fun and exciting, I always hoped for such an update and I was not disappointed at all, performance was improved a lot and the tracking was incredibly smooth, I've always struggled to play games on my own but since the update I've been spending a lot of time just playing this on my own, its rare for me to find a game such as this! The last game to do so was Dredge.
If anything, the main drawback I can really say is the lack of dungeon variety. There are a few different map bases for the dungeons in the story but they do get a bit repetitive, though the excitement of becoming closer to learning a new skill helps continue with going dungeon to dungeon. I would absolutely love seeing more dungeon types and new rooms being introduced but regardless, the progression works really well, though I've plateaued with level 3/4 dungeons and getting through them pretty quick.
I will be looking to try more of the mod side of things and will be looking steadily forwards towards future updates to hopefully add more. If you've recently got into the world of VR, I can happily say I recommend 100% to start with this.
very fun mods work very good and there is more to offer than on nomad
1. The campaign has "procedurally generated" dungeons which is a fancy way of saying about a dozen rooms randomly rearranged. I still liked it though. However I didn't finish it. I killed the boss twice and I had seen enough.
2. The game does not require very quick reflexes, which is a good thing because VR tracking is not that good enough to simulate the speed of a real sword fight. I am using Oculus Quest 2 on Air Link and I frequently found myself switching to slowmo to prevent desyncs. Maybe more expensive headsets are better.
3. The campaign added quite a bit of parkour, which made me rage, swear and sweat a lot.
4. Me and many others on the internet randomly get boners while playing the game apparently.
5. I am getting some weird lag spikes when I load into high poly sections large levels and it desyncs my left and right eyes. Turning the headset off and on again fixes that. It happens a lot, sometimes even mid fight.
Don't let the June 2024 release date fool you. This game is almost as old as VR itself. One of the top 5 VR games of all time easily IMO.
Probably the best interface for VR ever. Its pretty intuitive in my book. Handling weapons feels great. Some things could be more interactive but I know FPS would drop. I love this game.
Incredible game with amazing gameplay. My parents were so surprised when I accidently punched the wall during the epic fight. After playing this game I was talking with my friends about how I was fighting with hundreds of people. This is amazing!
They are very different games, but quality wise this game is up there with half-life Alyx. Best VR games I've played

One of the best VR games you can play! Offers so much replayability.
The sandbox gamemode is amazing, all the maps are so detailed and are perfect sized! The outposts are so fun to play, allowing you to go either stealthy or aggressively and playing on different difficulties.
Crystal Hunt is also amazing, reading the notes as you go along makes you feel like you are actually apart of the game. The boss fights are so fun and is a good mix of both easy and hard and easy!
The built in mod menu offers you different ways to play and allows you to change your game style!
10/10 Game and can't wait for whats to come in the future.
Game has great visuals, combat system is good, and there are a shit ton of mods so youll probably never get bored of the game.

LOVE THIS GAME, But only wish it was multiplayer( want to "accidentally" stab my friends) and everyone can specialize in one magic type (or not) and would be a update that if bug-ridden, would bring players and joy.

Vr is underused as a platform, and Blade & Sorcery feels like the only title that is a complete vr game.
Got into it because of mods, full release was pretty good and fun as well. As long as you can get mods working, this game is peak. Also fun without mods but not as much for people like me who like using weapons and powers from other franchises. You will have to swap versions if you want certain mods, but I dont find that an issue.
This is the only game where you can immersivly Bash someones head in then stabbing them 10/10 better than doing it in real life!!!
After 100 hours and finally getting around to beating Crystal Hunt what can I say?
The game is put one of the best VR Games on the market and probably the best VR sandbox game going especially with mods like Ghettos Firearms.
This game has improved alot even since U12 adding in better graphics, more weapons and a vastly overhauled sorcery system which previously was very bare bones.
The Crystal Hunt I beat on Permadeath so there would be some challenege and I really like the Golem boss the first time you beat it after that it gets boring quick. Crystal Hunt is a pretty tense mode epsecially on Perma death but its very repetitive, you go through the same few dungeons again and again and it only gets easier as you get more crazy OP sorcery abilities. You are either kicking the games ass or its kicking yours, its not very balanced imo.
But where the game truly shines is sandbox. Its got tons of maps, weapons and waves and its fun but even better with mods.
With mods it becomes what Bonelab shouldve been. I especially reccomend Ghettos Firearms and a some mod maps to make it more Sandboxy.
On that note Ghetto's Firearms are some of the best Guns ive seen in a video game and Ghetto himself is super chill. The dedication from the devs and community is something that deserves a medal.
10/10 Crystal hunt lore really make the world way more immerserve and the modding community is so awesome.
I love this game, I recently upgraded to pcvr and It's a much better modding experience and overall experience. I had it on quest before and it was already very good. Very Nice Game if your looking for some hand to hand combat or some sword fighting. It gets way better if you install mods Into the game. Very good graphics and very good map design. However some parts could be unrealistic, for example the fist fighting. You knock people over in 1 punch even if its a light tap they still fall over, but that can be fixed with mods.

The melee combat is easily the best I’ve experienced in VR. Every swing, parry, and stab feels weighty and realistic, with the physics system adding a layer of immersion that’s unmatched. The magic system is just as impressive, allowing you to channel devastating spells, hurl fireballs, or manipulate your environment in creative ways. Combined with ranged combat, the variety of options ensures there’s something for every playstyle.
If I'm honest, the only downside is ranged combat and throwing weapons. I'm not sure if its just me, but If i'm using a bow or the spells, I cannot hit anything accurately. It is really hard to understand where your projectiles are going. As for throwing weapons, I'm not sure if its just me or the Meta Quest 3, but you either throw and it just drops to the floor, or you launch it into the atmosphere never to be seen again.
What really sets Blade & Sorcery apart now is the addition of a single-player progression system. You’re no longer limited to sandbox arenas—you can embark on a journey, earning upgrades and improving your character as you go. This progression gives the game a new level of depth and replayability that keeps you coming back for more.
On top of all this, the modding community has elevated the game to new heights. From custom weapons and spells to entire new maps and game modes, the mods add near-limitless replayability. If you can imagine it, there’s probably a mod for it.
Performance is smooth and polished, and the attention to detail in the visuals and physics makes every encounter feel visceral and satisfying. For a VR medieval hack-and-slash game, Blade & Sorcery is the gold standard.
If you’re a fan of action-packed VR games with deep combat systems and limitless replayability, this is an absolute must-play. I can’t recommend it enough!
Are you like me, where after a long day of doing absolutely nothing, you have the uncontrollable urge to run into an outpost full of armed soldiers with nothing but your bare fists and slowly punch them to death and then kick and throw around their dead bodies off ledges and into walls, and kicking them and watching them slowly bleed out and suffer as you continue to punch their face over and over and over and over, then finally you grab their own weapons and shove it up their ass as you parade around with their severed heads on your sword like a kebab?
No?
Oh well, this game's still really fun.

The NPC's are bumbling idiots, Glorified gumbies armed with medieval era weaponry. and even after the 1.0 update the magic system is very one note. but its still a very entertaining game. 8/10

Physics feel the greatest out of any vr game ive played. melee combat is unmatched and definitely worth playing if you havent already. Deserves VR GOTY no doubt
