Blade & Sorcery was an early VR game, that's been through a long, and very fun development process. I've played both on PC and the Quest version, called Nomad, and seeing the game develop and mature and continue to be an excellent VR title has been a very special treat.
With it's recent 1.0 release, there's no better time to pick it up. Blade & Sorcery is a must for VR gamers and its moddability is also excellent! You can find just about everything for some version of this game.
I think that this game is a good combat game. The devs have really thought about what people want and need. The crystal hunt gamemode is very exciting.
fun to beat the ever living snot out of npc's for hours. great stress reliever. 10/10
Its a very fun game would recommend just a couple of glitches
One of the most well known VR games out there and for good reason, it's something that normal medieval games can't give, total and full control of your weapons and attack movements. No set patterns or such, you can swing and stab to your hearts contend. It has a story mode now that I am sure a lot of long time players were waiting for, but for me the greatest fun is to hit up a sandbox map, grab a handful of weapon mods and commit precious murder. So, in truth, the real core of the game is this;
Release the inner psychopath that lives in us all through acts of heinous bloodshed!
Discover how much hitting your furniture hurts cause you failed to stay within your VR headset's boundaries.
Throughout the years playing this game I've been darth vader fighting hoards of jedi, altair and ezio, jin sakai, the mandalorian, spider-man, iron-man, wolverine, an attack on titan scout, kratos, yuji itadori, toph beifong, and countless others. Should be the definitive VR game to set a standard going forward.
The most intuitive and physical VR game i have played. Really feels like you could make any game in this engine. The story mode added in 1.0 is just what the game needed to be a complete experience, and i downright binged it.
Possibly the best vr game I've ever played. Wanna be an unstoppable god? Play sandbox. Want rpg-style progression? Play crystal hunt. Want to get mods to spice the game up a bit? It has built in mods so you don't need to get them from a 3rd-party source.
the BEST vr game on steam. the physics are great, the combat is great, the weapon selection is great, the story mode is great. this game is probably perfect.
I love playing blade and sorcery with mods and killing my friends 10/10 game
It's a cool concept. Fun for a while in the sandbox mode. But it is not something I would recommend (I know it is VR heresy).
- The Campaign mode is just a loosely strung set of missions together that force you to repeat the same 5 dungeon layouts that are not only labyrinths but also require a lot of climbing, and jumping, and other extremely nauseating movements to pull off in VR.
- The only entertainment in the combat is a power fantasy of being a super melee god. The AI sucks even after the new updates and is completely incompetent as an adversary. You basically are just repeatedly killing low tier slop and there is no real strategy or skill you have to have. Swinging your sword like a fool is nearly just as effective as actually putting effort into your attacks.
- The whole experience is motion sickness inducing. Normally something I wouldn't complain about with VR. But here it is a whole different ball game. I've played quite a few VR games now and I've gotten very used to dynamic movement systems in VR and normally I am fine. But something about the movement system in this game is just downright nauseating. I don't know what could be going on and I've found similar complaints online.
Overall. I'd recommend the game if you want to just kill things virtually. Otherwise I don't know if I can recommend it.
If I had to pick only one game to play it would be this one. The overall experience is great and the devs are working hard to bring new and epic updates.
There are some bugs here and there, but they do get fixed quite quickly. This, together with the one of a kind gameplay makes it a truly worthwhile game to buy, plus the possibilities are almost endless. So many ways to express your intrusive thoughts...
This is the greatest VR game ever made. There isn't anything else to say. Buy it now and have fun forever even after you beat crystal hunt. You'll be back to throw a dagger into an enemy from 5o meters in slow motion or Mod dual pistils into the game and have a blast. 10/10
This game is incredible! ive played for about 20+ hours and ive been loving every single minute of it, the combat is incredible, weapon selection is even better (i have mods as well, so keep that in mind) And the modding capabilities are AWESOME!
WARNING:
This game may or may not turn you into a psychotic killer (both irl and ingame)
With mods this game is the best VR game. My favorite mod is the Outer Rim mod.
a bit clunky never quite feels right but it's a great deal of fun. if multiplayer was possible this game would teal my life
i love the combat in b.a.s
so so SO cool! i love the swords and magic. I just wish my PCVR was super smooth for it
- One of the best ways to stay fit while also being terminally online and never going outside
- A ton of replayability, it's easy to mod and has a humongous modding community
- Functional physics system
- Lore/Storymode is decent and hides the games unhinged nature and core focus which is brutally killing people
- Entertaining Development Reports
Overall a really good VR game, 8/10
Hell of a workout and there are a ton of mods to play around with too! Crystal Campaign could be a bit better in mixing up the outpost generation but overall, extremely fun!
Absolutely love this game, it is so fun with all the mods and chaos. However, Steamlink on my quest 3s is quite finicky with lots of mods. So I would recommend using a cable.
I personally, don't like the game much. I've tried aloooot to get into it because the way everyone shows clips looks so amazing, badass and lowkey hot. The people just run inside you all the time, there isnt distance for a fun sword fight. I love battle talent for that reason. For more "fun" mechanics you need mods which is fine but it doesnt do enough to fix how janky fighting can be. This is probably one of those games where its mainly be having this happen for odd reasons but I keep giving this game a shot here and there I end up with the same outcome. STOP GOING INSIDE ME MEN. Besides that I would be okay with the game.
easily the best VR game I have played. Modding aside its absolutely fantastic. If you decide to get into the modding part of the game (which I highly recommend) it becomes a lot more, there are a lot more weapons but more importantly spells... very.. very fun spells
Now that Blade & Sorcery is complete I think it is time to put in writing what I've been saying for years. This is some of the most engaging melee and magic combat you can experience with a headset. I've always liked the combat but got tired of the sandbox arenas quite quickly, likely due to an oversaturation of arena fighters at the time. But when they added the procedurally generated dungeons, this became almost a nightly visit for a while. Climbing the boss added in the final release is one of the most immersive experiences I've had in VR, it's just a shame that it's the ONLY boss battle they added. I would've loved to see more unique opponents like that. The final release also included a progression system and that felt like the final piece of the puzzle for this game. As long as you're okay with looking yourself in the mirror after the horrific things you do to your enemies in this game, you're gonna have a great time. 7/10
best vr game without a doubt ,physics mechanics are unmatched ,rag dolling is peak ,would recommend to any unfortunate new or old vr players how have been so unlucky as not to have heard of this absolute gem yet .
I love blade and sorcery so much its the best vr sandbox fighting game and now it has a story? its so good I recommend it to everyone please play this game.
Excellent campaign and combat engine. I was surprised by the amount of free climbing in the game but grew to love it towards the end.
very fun and enjoyable. mods make it even better.
A fantastic game with hours of entertainment. Just experienced the full release and am quite pleased. Also has excellent mod capabilities. %100 recommend
i have been waiting for years to actually be able to play the game after years of waiting i finally have a vr headset and my dream pc i say its worth every damn second every dollar when i had problems with the game the developers and the staff over in their discord stayed for hours and helped me even when it was a issue they never seen before amazing staff amazing devs EVEN BETTER GAME WORTH EVERY DOLLAR.
thanks to mememan and Deadlykittin
ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! This is one of the best games I've played in a good while (aside from Helldivers 2 of course), and it is just amazing. I did have a few problems actually getting it to run, but here's the solution that worked for me. I bought the game on Steam, then installed a virtual desktop streamer to stream the activity on the PC to the VR, then I installed the Meta Quest Developer Hub to connect the VR to the PC, then finally installed Steam VR on Steam, then just make sure you have all of those running at the same time the plug the VR in or use the air link through the headset. Good luck, and have fun!!!
Despite the new player experience being clunky and all the lore is reading, the game it self has been AN ABSOLUTE BLAST! I haven't even gotten to trying out mods and by itself this is a must have VR-title!
alot of mods to play around
but it is laggy some times but i recmend it
great game overall but for a better experience mod some gore mods and weapon mods
Absolutely amazing, 10/10 VR Game, with mods it becomes 100/10 so I recommend nexusmods for the best mods to play with in this game
I've been jumping between positive and negative review because of performance issues, if you have a vive, this game MIGHT work on the vive since i'm running two vr things at once, but if you use anything that isn't a steam vr headset then RUN IN OCULUS VR MODE. it makes the game 10x smoother and better to play.
I love killing innocent people, just kidding they all wanna kill you. However when it comes to killing someone in a medevil way with magic, you feel like a badass. And for that This is a solid game, that looks above standards
Hard to tell if this is amazing or magnificant, the game has a lot of potential. The only thing that is a problem at least for me that the npc are kinda buggy but not to make the game hard to play. They might have stupid brains at a certain moment while attacking you and after a hit they wake up to reality. This game is pretty decent on every vr except of Quest because they have their own version. I just could wish they would be multiplayer in this game. :(

Best VR game. Very enjoyable with mods and is an overall fun, physics driven fighting game that makes you feel like a badass. Or on the other hand you can just mess around with the npcs, which is equally as fun.
Me punch bad guys they die hee hee haha
In all seriousness this 3.5 VR game is brought up to a 4/5 with just some simple mods like
Jaw Physics
Realistic Bleeding
Better Decaps
Etc Etc
If it was not VR it would be lower for sure but VR is such a different medium
the combat is very fun and the AI is very responsive, the campaign is nice, the only thing that needs polished is climbing
Amazing mod community, amazing developers, amazing gameplay. If there was any vr game close to becoming what gmod has cemented itself as in PC gaming it's this game, it's worth every penny
Graphics: 11/10
I am on quest 2 and its hard to believe what is real and whats not, and mind you the quest 2 as of now is "outdated and superseded by the Quest 3 at minimum.." the quest 2 is designed to display graphics of low end and standalone games, and it plays this on a PC that is considered "mid tier"
Gameplay: 12/10
Phenomenal, I've played this game since almost the initial beta release, and I loved it then, and now with the Crystal Hunt update. this game has potential to shoot far beyond its initial expectations and then some.
Mod support: 8/10
This game has just about as much of mod-ability as arma III did. Just they don't work great when all mushed together.
really fun, dangerous for your walls and furniture. Minor path lag (might be a mod). just a few missing features, for instance, one-handed and/or automatic imbue (like the NPCs do) better stealth mechanics (nothing too involved. But luring them without getting the horn would be cool) and maybe some armor sets.
this game is super fun and if you cant play it on here then play nomad on the meta store
Great game with amazing mods for it. lots of fun
Game is amazing. VR has come a long way. Only issue is performance, which can be easily fixed by turning down graphics in settings. Would recommend.
This game not only is very epic and sigma but is also the best vr game i've played in forever (second being SUPERHOT VR), would recommend, worth the 30 bucks.
Blade &Sorcery is a perfect example of what VR games should be like. The physics based combat is very immersive and they continue to put out updates to improve the game wherever possible. I completed the first play through of the game's story mode in about 8 hours of gameplay, but there is more to do afterward as Blade & Sorcery offers almost limitless replay value, especially with sandbox mode. I can't wait to see what Warpfrog might release in the future.
This game has been in development for so long and the ai are still as sluggish, braindead and suicidal as when it was first put on steam. I thought the devs might do something about this before it became a full game but apparently not. The new levels are great and the golem is very cool, but I don't enjoy mercy killing a bunch of lobotomised zombies.
For those who might say the ai isn't capable of being challenging, I once had a perfect combination of difficulty mods for this game which made the swordplay INCREDIBLE, but an update broke the mods and since then it's been the same tedium. Not everyone loves the power fantasy swordplay, spare a thought for people who want a challenge.
