Other than the dated graphics, no complaints. You play as a warrior in the Medieval period and frankly I can't resist laughing like a maniac as I charge into battle and start bashing my enemies with my buddy Jeremus
I will recommend, for a better vanilla experience, the mod "Bannerpage".
But even if you don't install any mods it's a good game, with many hours of gameplay
the emptiness feels like this game has been abandon, what are we doing gang, need more update on this

"Erturia has defeated all rivals and stands as the sole kingdom."
Key Highlights:
Unparalleled Freedom: You're dropped into Calradia with no predetermined path. Will you become a feared warlord, a respected king, or a mercenary leader? Your choices shape the journey.
Combat System: The melee and mounted combat mechanics are unmatched, especially for their time. Each strike, block, and parry feels genuine, and the mounted combat still holds up as some of the best in gaming.
Political Intrigue: The game goes beyond simple battles, offering a dynamic political landscape where you can forge alliances, woo nobles, and rise to power by convincing lords to join your cause.
Multiplayer: Intense multiplayer modes like Siege and Battle keep you coming back, offering a range of classes and equipment options. Even years later, the community remains active and passionate.
Depth of Progression: Recruiting companions, leveling up skills, and customizing your army give you a sense of real growth. Watching your ragtag band grow into an unstoppable force is incredibly satisfying.

It´s an incredible game. On its own it´s a great game concept, executed pretty well but a little bit stale once you master it. But then, the mods turn it into an incredible experience. Like a "make your own adventure" simulator in a medieval setting revolving around party management, your own combat, tactics and a lot more potential stuff I don´t care that much about like kingdom management and trading. Give it a shot
Addictive, predictable, simulator with great action and strategy.
Fight like a rebel for yourself or a pretender to one of the many crowns in the land.
Or straight up conquer the hearts and minds of the people (or straight up villain,) and claim the towns and castles of the continent of Calradia.
Re-playability with mods is great with tons of high quality mods to completely change the experience anywichway you want it.
Game has amazing manually aimed attack system, which is a real highlight. The kingdom mechanics are pretty rough, especially when you’re not backing any claimants. It feels like an upgraded version of the original Mount & Blade, but it really owes a lot to the modding community. Without their contributions, the game would feel pretty empty and lack the variety and depth in kingdom management.
Very replayable due to the modability. It's truly a classic.
Every time I want to start another playthrough I remember how much time it would take to finish it, so I'm restricting myself cause there's stuff in real world that needs to be done, but in perfect world where you can play games without a care in the world ignoring all responsibillites... I would totally dive into another harvesting season of sea raiders skulls, 10/10
My hours arent much compared to alot of players, but this is probably my favorite game on earth. The mods make it better and some have been in development for many years. This game does things together that no other game one earth does the same (except bannerlord... DUH)
This is brilliant.
The combat is great and responsive, the battles really do have a feeling of scale but the real thing that keeps impressing me about this game is the emergent narrative. Sure the diplomatic and relationship building aspects of this game are very limited, but the ebb and flow of war, the rivalries with opposing nobles, the slow and steady development of your army and lieutenants is just great. I keep coming back to this primitive masterpiece.
What an amazing game. The mods are insane and bring so much variety. Want to play in Roman times, Medieval, 18th century? Want to play in Lotr, GoT or Star Wars? It is all there. This is also one of the only games I played a lot of multiplayer. The Napoleonic Wars DLC is a lot of fun.
Mount and Blade: Warband is the ultimate medieval experience! With its rich open world, you can carve your own path as a noble, merchant, or bandit. The combat is thrilling and realistic, making every battle feel epic.
The game may not boast cutting-edge graphics, but its immersive landscapes and dynamic politics keep you hooked for hours. Plus, the vibrant modding community adds endless replayability.
If you crave a game that combines strategy, adventure, and realism, look no further.
10/10—An absolute must-play!
A really great game once you get to know it.
In Vanilla/Native: Fantasy without the fairies! You can control troops while in 1st/3rd person on the battlefield which still ticks
the strategy box. Just look past the old graphics and quirks (which game doesn't have those?)
There are many mods, and with the DLC's too, so different options for setting / play-style are available.
Even today, better than Bannerlord. Especially with mods.
Best of the best game/play and UMMO and Best graphics/sound quality DLSS Nvidia/latest UFUHD realistic pixels unreal/frostbite engine and THX spatial audio/MIC HQ/Dolby 7.1/oomph/krisp/bass boost surround sound and next gen upgraded gaming and music listening experience to to sound and gameplay and crossplay merge in different multiple servers and less blurred and slugglish movement and cartoonie and childish-gameplay-graphics and more event and updates and more newer reworks AI Benchmark
it is so far the best medieval, combat, trade game that i have played in my life and still do, even after bannerlord came out.
A rather mediocre game (apart from its magnificent manually aimed attacks system) with difficult & horrible one's own kingdom mechanics (when you do not support any claimant). An upgrade of the original Mount & Blade elevated to unimaginable heights by the modding community without whom the game would be utterly barebones and lack any variety or kingdom management depth. 7/10. Modders' efforts: 11/10
It's a decent game. Animations like moving, archery, horseback riding are oh kay. Could've been better. Map overlay is neat. If you're looking to buy this one or the other ones, go with one of the other ones.
I recommend it though. If you decide to buy this one you won't be disappointed.
Very Fun to play,
The graphic is not so good but the game play is extremely fun.
Got a lot of mods can play, can explore for long time.
> download and launch game
> make funny looking guy
> grind for 600 days
> finally grow a pair and siege dhirim (bad choice)
> win the siege and create my own faction
> 10 days later
> i see 1200 nords approaching
> get my ass obliterated
> i lose everything
10/10 experience. THIS IS PEAK GAMING
My ideal game when it comes to leading armies. Being able to command while fighting unique enemies is very fun and personable.
I love the game
The mods are old, stale, moldy, but loved and delicious
I would eat the mold
I come back every week to eat
Delectable
Yum
High school nights playing for hours shooting musket volleys on Napoleonic siege servers. Typing out lord of the rings speeches in chat as my team makes their final stand behind sapper-built barricades. Fixing bayonets as the whole server presses C to yell out their last war cry. I don't think I'll ever get to relive that experience again. But hell if it wasn't some of the best moments I've had playing a video game. Thanks for the memories boys.
As you can see i havent played very much of this game, but that doesnt mean that the game is bad, I got this on sale for fairly cheap so I decided to pick it up. Its just challenging to get use to the controls for the game.
Don't let my steam hours fool you, I have hundreds upon hundreds of hours on console. This game scratches an itch rarely seen in games. Yes its old, yes some things are outdated, yes there's bugs and exploits a plenty.... it was also developed by a man and his wife.
A thumbs up or down in 2024 isn't going to tell you anything you haven't seen anywhere else in the years this game has been out. Just know I consistently, as well as many other fans, come back to Warband even with Bannerlord existing, and you can bet your butt if it releases for Xbox Mega Series XXL 2 or Playstation 84, I'll be buying it on that too.
Great game,
Endless replay-ability, a single game can take months or years of playtime to actually finish depending on what your goals are. And one can't forget mods...
This is definitely one of the best games I've ever played! It's very cool to line up two rows of crossbowmen with archers on a hill and shoot the enemy cavalry, and then run with knives (because we ran out of arrows) after a bunch of bastards who don't want to give up. The most important advantage is modifications, because there are mods for every taste and color
Gather your warband and bring aid to your allies and devastation to your enemies. Bring the bite of your blade to your foes and become the grand Butterlord of all Calradia.
Strongly recommended, especially on sale. Several great mods as well!
a masterpiece even in Native (unmodded). where the mods enhances the game and not fixing basic problems (Im looking at you rome 2)
Super nostalgic game.
Graphics are obviously not up to par with today's standards but arguably very good for a 14 year old game.
The gameplay is very enjoyable.
You can play the game however you see fit:
-Soldier
-Monarch
-Trader
-Noble
-Professional Athlete
-All of the above
The world is alive and moves on with or without you.
Good for both Single Player and Multi Player.
The game is pretty much simple, but the concept of the game is more complex.
If you want to mod the game, just go and download from Steam Workshop.
There are plenty of mod that are top notch than the actual game or "Vanilla Mod"
This game is like witchcraft. You'll play for hour think its alright, clunky and obtuse but nothing really outstanding. Then you'll realize its 2 am and you've been staring at the same battlefield fighting 5 battles one after the other on the same repeated maps. And you'll wonder how the hell did that happen. There is almost no other game like it out there.
There are tons of mods in Mount and Blade warband and I love them especially historical ones, It would get boring if you have Cheats on ofcourse It's better to play it with no Cheats so you won't get bored at playing, I recommend trying out some mods like L'Aigle, Between empires and more.
For short, if you want to have a fun time don't turn on cheats unless if you really are having fun at cheating.
good base game but the mods r even better
glad to see theyre still updating viking conquest
Amazing game, still holds up to this day.
Once you get bored of the main game try Prophecy of Pendor, and the many other great workshop mods there are
I don't really write reviews but I had to for this game. I started playing this on xbox and this game made me get a PC so I could start playing all the mods made for this game. By far one of the best games I've played, if you haven't played it what are you doing..
Have you ever thought to yourself, "man, I would love to be a peasant in a fantasy medieval setting and make money serving a feudal lord as a mercenary until I, someday, can afford to be a Queen, myself"? then yeah, this game is for you, and if that's not your vibe, it's also just an excellent combat sim.
Prophecy of Pendor might be the greatest mod I've ever played. LOVE this game.
Game slaps with light modding (floris mod pack). Way more fun than the dogshit big game studios are pumping out today.
it looks very dated, it's deeply frustrating to play, and lacks depth. i've tried quite hard to give this game its fair shake, but i think it's too niche for me to recommend to a general audience.
One of the greatest games of all time with a great modding scene that is still alive to this day.
To those who are encountering Mount & Blade: Warband for the first time and are either contemplating getting it or beginning to play, I have but one request: take this game as it is. It is not its successor, Bannerlord, nor does it seek to mimic the Elder Scrolls or even The Sims. It is what it is.
It present players with the opportunity to explore a fictionalized world heavily inspired by antiquity and the medieval era - evident in its aesthetics, diplomacy, weaponry, armor, combat, goods, and much elsewhere. The continent which serves as its setting, Caldradia, is impressive both in its breadth of cultures and depth of lore alongside social distinctives.
Admittedly, it is a “dated” game in the sense that its graphical quality and mechanical complexity are not on the same level as titles released five years - let alone a decade - after its initial release. But that does not and must not take away from the many merits it posesses, among which include its deep level of character development, engaging battles whether they are skirmishes or sieges, intuitive mouse-based combat system, deep historicity that employs realistic units and arms, and a well-crafted world that can be explored time and time again.
It is worth your time because it respects you time, for it does not try to be something it is not; Mount & Blade: Warband is what its - a game of adventuring, combat, and diplomacy set in a world that (indirectly) begs you to explore it.

TOTAL SCORE: 10/20
>=17: you don't want to miss this masterpiece
>=14: definitely worth the price
>=6: if its on sale or free, you could consider to try it
<6: don't waste your time on it
This with the graphic of Bannerlord would be the perfect game.
Such a pity what a turd Bannerlord turned out to be.
If you don't care for graphics, this is the game you want to play.
I bought it because of Napoleonic Wars (it is the more extensive version of Holdfast) but the game crashed three times in my short playing time and once forced me to shut down my PC due to a freeze.
..going back to Battle Grounds III.
Lost 47 troops out of 98 when taking Almerra Castle only for King Harlaus to pay me 900 Denars so he could own it himself.
10/10, would serve the Butterlord again.
Aut Caesar aut nihil is the GREATEST mod i have seen for any game ever,it is the only reason i am playing this game again and the only reason why im writing this,i cant imagine just how much this game was capable of until a master made a masterwork with it...wtf was bannerlord compared to this...a lame piece of shit...M&B already peaked, they are not creative, willing or want to make it better from what i have seen, viking was a good atempt, but it will only remain a atempt
mmmm, you could say this game is a masterpiece... You could also say that this game is very transformative due to having the ability to use mods / conversion packs to play LOTR, vikings, and other fantasy settings. For an old game, it still runs well on modern comps.
