I love this game. A long time ago, I was a big fan of Tenchu: the Wrath of Heaven - and I've been looking forever for a game that feels like that one. This honestly comes close for me. It has very precise controls, a fast pace, a hardcore/permadeath mode, bosses, and high difficulty. A YouTube review I saw on the game complained that some of the the controls acted imprecisely with wall runs, but he was wrong - skill issue. Also, a reviewer here on Steam complained about getting spotted by archers just off screen above him. My suggestion for that is, try looking up, the camera will move. It's a good thing that you have to look carefully for traps, enemies, etc. rather than rushing forward blindly. I don't know how the game feels on normal and easy mode, because I'm only interested in the permadeath mode, but if you're a fan of Dark Souls difficulty and stealth games like Hitman or Tenchu, this feels great. Try it.
This is a great product for those who like to play, good quality videogames, rather than in quantity.
With the only not so good side of this title; being the fact that you have to keep interrupting, a bit too much; yo Ninja business. In order to gather resources, to buy stuff, when at the Village; in-between the different levels.
Plus, when you finish this game; you get to replay the same story; on a ++ mode. With mo stuff to dodge and mo enemies to deal with. Plus some of the side objectives, for some levels, are contradictory. Like going to a level saturated with different platforms, with patrolling enemies on top of them; and then: the side objective says: "Do not use Shuriken.
To conclude:
Buy this one for yourself; if you like the Shinoby type of videogame.
Yet, this one, isn't well polished enough, to be bought for someone else, as a gift.
I LOVE this game. The amount of joy and excitement this game has brought me is off the charts. I cant understand why or how such a simple yet novel game can keep me captivated like it does.
