Beat Saber is a fun game but as of right now I cannot recommend this game. Over the years I have played the game on and off and when I first bought the game I loved it. I beat the campaign and then decided to attempt to get every achievement. I got most of them except for two which were to get an overall player score of 100 million and to perfect 15 songs on expert. I managed to perfect 12/15 songs on expert and was roughly 3/4 of the way or so on completing the 100 million score achievement before deciding to take a break from the game. After returning some time later and after some updates came to the game in that time I noticed all of my in game progress was reset.. This was annoying but I shrugged it off and decided to start again from scratch on those last two remaining achievements. I managed to perfect the same songs I had already done prior but was not anywhere as close as I once was to the 100 million achievement. I figured it would take some time but in the meantime I would focus on perfecting 3 more songs and worry about the accumulative score achievement later. Once again I decided I would revisit the game at a later date only to find out that yet again after some updates that all of my progress in game was gone.. This is beyond frustrating for someone who wants to 100% a game they find enjoyable. I fail to understand why when this game receives an update it wipes the player's progress but apparently it does and for that I cannot recommend this game to anyone. As for myself I do not see me returning a third time to attempt these achievements. Overall its a fun game and can be a blast to play but the consistent loss of progress makes this game a no for me going forward. Very disappointing..
Great game if you have a vr headset you must play beatsaber. The modding community is great as well almost an endless amount of custom maps & tons of mods.
So... I have some things to say about this game.

I download songs there have not ran into malware but i did run into a Trojan with Mod Assistant. I don't know if this was a false or real but it happend when i tried to zip Mod assistant

If you are planning to get a VR headset and its your first VR headset, this is the game you should definitely spend to buy first. This is probably the most fun Vr game ever made, and still to this day, I Jump on when I need to relax and just take some steam off.
I know alot of these reviews go over the modding and the not paying for the music packs which I understand. But some of these music packs have some of the best stage and designs I've ever seen. Sure they can be expensive, but they support the game and continue to deliver amazing stuff. Modding is really fun and if you get the game, definitely give it a whirl. It's big community.
Their latest music pack Metallica is probably the best so far, the work that goes into the stage designs for that pack alone are just remarkable.
Just do your self a favor, if you buy a vr headset, get this first. You won't be dissapointed.
Beat Saber was the only reason I bought my Meta Quest and I do not regret it tbh.
I love simple rythm games. You can try your favourite songs again and again and it´s so cool when you have finally nailed a song pattern.
This game is absolutely amazing. It really wouldn't be what it is without custom songs though.
HUGE THING people don't know about: you DON'T need mods for custom songs!!
Download songs from beatsaver, then navigate to the CustomLevels folder in the game files!!

I understand there is no issue with mods but I'm sure there are plenty like me who would rather play without them if possible!
Everyone owning a vr-headset should own this game. Very fun and simple game. Game becomes funnier the more you game... Game game.

Hell of a work-out and it's just fun as all holy hell to play Jedi while blasting party rock on the hardest difficulty.
Get good at the game and you will have fun. Good luck it's hard at first.
Classic game. What can I say, its very entertaining and even gives you a bit of a workout doing it. Fun for the entire family. My only complaint is that not many good songs come with the base game. You can download songs created by users though, off of a mod website.
Good way to exercise when you're struggling with depression and anxiety, especially when that makes it harder to go outside or to the gym.
A lot of the custom maps are really difficult though, and it can be hard to find good ones, however it is extremely rewarding to master a map you used to struggle with.
As for the vanilla maps, I can't criticise them because I'm biased against them: I don't find them appealing at all and must've only played some once or twice. It's an easy game to mod though!
Easily the best game on VR
Gameplay is highly engaging, songs are great, and the playstyle is attainable for most folks.
For me, Beat saber was the reason to get a VR headset. It is such a fun game with a high replay value. A great game to introduce people to VR aswell and getting the hang of difficult songs is a rusch!
Excellent workout game. Even games that try to be workout games do not compare to this. Also, this game is NOT negatively impacted by stick drift, which is a huge plus for me right now.

I have always been a skeptic of VR but this, this has gotta be the game that changed my mind. It makes excellent use of the technology with no sloppy gimmicks and provides an experience that only VR can. immersiveness is a huge part of it sure but the great motion controls are what sold it to me. The game itself is so simple that your grandma can probably pick it up and play yet it provides depth for the hardcore player to find something more in it. Overall a great game. Definitely a killer app in the sense that you "must" play this if you have VR.
A friend gifted me $20 so I could get this game, and we immediately played it for an hour and 30 minutes straight. It is excellent. Also I am sweating my balls off, it is a very good workout. Recommend.
Very fun game, its pretty difficult at the start but it wont take that long until you can play almost every stage at expert. Also i love the custom songs that you can install with mods. Its the best thing to get after getting used to the game and when you can play expert songs. Highly recommend the game its extremely fun!
the base game is fun but the mods can be hit or miss. some of the modded songs i have are really good and the blocks are well timed with the beat and rhythm of the music but other mod songs have the block fly at you a little to early and messes you up
Played around 100 hours on PSVR, picked it up again when I moved to the Index 2 years ago. Still play at least once a week. Recommend to anyone that has any VR headset and especially on platforms that allow for mods
I've heard someone describe BeatSaber as "the best workout you can get without leaving the house" - and I think that sums it up very nicely. It is a lot of fun and definitely worth playing if you have access to vr.
It's beat saber. If it's taking a while for you to get good, keep at it. You'll eventually get it. It took me quite a while :p
this game is amazing, i showed it to my epileptic cousin and he has been shaking with excitement for the last 25 minutes.

with mods its great is not then no dlc for songs are not worth it
My first love was the Pump It Up arcade game around 18 years ago, and then I moved to a country where that game doesn't seem to exist.
Beat Saber has come in to fill that gap in my heart.

I suck at it but its really fun especially if you got friends to compare with
Beat Saber is probably my favourite game of all time! Especially with mods and custom songs this game has endless replayability. Even though I can only do Expert, it still is really fun and I love learning and grinding towards expert+.
The DLC is also really good if you're willing to spend a lot of money
The game is great, but every music pack breaks the mods, which are actually over 80% of the reason to buy this game. They know this is happening as can be seen on the comments of every single patch, yet they do nothing and continue to add music packs. 0 QoL features, instead just more music packs that cost as much as the game itself.
Its a amazing game but it really needs to make mods be part of the main game like so many other VR titles
First up, i only play modded, never paid for any music pack or anything.
still this game is the best VR-only game, with the mod community carrying the game.

it was fun but after 10h it just have a black screen when i launch it and it's not a one time sytuation it's 100% of the times so only if i could even play this game i whold recomend it

I played this game a long time ago on a friend's VR headset and I wanted to play it again, but I couldn't convince myself to buy a VR headset. I finally got one, so now I get to play as much as I want... which is a lot.
Awesome Game, spent so much time into it, even my meta quest 2 works awesome on it!
Although the game is very enticing by itself, installing mods reveals its highs fully. Many custom tracks can make you feel cardio workouts in gym are just inadequate when compared. I'm one of those players who only come to Beat Saber for to play to limits of my body. As I'm writing this review, it's now winter and the temperatures outside are way below zero Celsius. I start playing Beat Saber wearing warmer clothes including hoodie but end up switching it to just shorts and t-shirt after 1-2 tracks each time and then keep dancing. Everything above that is just too much in such an active game, especially if you move not only with your wrists (at which some maps are optimized) but with your whole arms (from shoulders) and your body as a whole.
And consider using some external OEMs or IEMs with juicy low ends since most VR's default speakers may not always be a great option for Beat Saber. It's not about your scores, it's about your pleasure while playing.
After all, if you're still alive after an hour or a few in solo mode and want to finish with something really hot, join the multiplayer. It's a great place to finish your session falling on your floor happy and exhausted.
this game made me realize three things:
1. i’m out of shape
2. lightsabers are cooler than i thought
3. my neighbors probably think i’m fighting ghosts
Amazing game. If you are looking to start playing VR, this is where you should start. It is great for letting your brain and body get used to being in VR. Other FPS games can cause you to become sick if you jump right into them.
If you have a VR goggle, then this game is a must play.
With mods, the replayability of this game is unmeasurable
Absolutly love this game, not as big a fan of the pay for new music packs update but it is what it is
Beat Saber is a lot of fun, but the stock levels and DLCs leave a bit to be desired. If you buy this, download BSManager, install some mods, then head on over to Beat Saver and download some high-rated playlists off there. Anything with a rating of 85% or more is guaranteed to be a good playlist. There's loads of good levels on there which should keep you going for a long time. Plus, it's good exercise - you can get fit playing video games. What a time to be alive.
I love this game. This has definitely become my daily cardio as it's really fun, and new songs are coming out all the time.
I would say old but gold, but the game is still getting updated.

It’s fun. Just expense without mods. So just mod it :)
Great game, VR of course is needed. Luckily you can get one without having to listen to a steam moderator cry about how they are going to die single and childless.
Fun as hell. Even more fun if you install mods to get more tracks, don't waste your money on the DLC tracks
