You will engage in combating the gangs and militia in order to survive and may choose to help other survivors who are full of their own personal misery, hopes and dreams, where everyone is trying to see the next sunrise in this chaotic wasteland.
SUMMARY
The United States has broken, and violence fills the streets. Freedom and patriotism have disintegrated, replaced with war and famine, and life is only a reminder of what’s been lost. If Garrett Mitchell hopes to survive this new world, he’ll have to fight his way through dangerous militia soldiers and members of the ruthless gang The Remnants while deciding whether or not to help his fellow survivors.
Following years of mounting tensions within the United States, civil unrest caused Washington DC to shut its doors and borders to the rest of the world six short months ago. As lawlessness took over the Midwest, spreading from coast-to-coast, the financial system crashed and soon DC and the surrounding cities became a fortress for the privileged with the rest of the country left to fend for itself.
Now, the streets run red with the blood of innocents as militia, gangs and rogue soldiers use lethal means to secure food, water and supplies that will allow their societies to keep going.
For those civilians caught in the middle, each day is a fight for survival. As supplies dry up, these neutrals flee from the cities in hopes of starting over somewhere new. Holding onto a shred of hope, all the civilians have left are the clothes on their back and their post-war dreams.
Players are introduced to Garrett, their mysterious vehicle through the wastelands of the United States. In the months since society’s collapse Garrett has done all he can to survive, dodging soldiers, gangs and other civilians, but with food, water and other survival resources scarce, he must find his way out of the city if he wants to live another day.
Just as Garrett believes he can exit the city scot-free he’s waylaid by enemies and rescued by Kara, a former EMT (emergency medical technician), who is trying to lead her own group outside the city limits to probable safety. Her group is made up friends, neighbors, co-workers as well as strangers she’s encountered along the way.
While Kara has medical training and cunning, which have allowed she and her group to survive the weeks since the war began, they lack combat skills and Garrett is a logical choice to help ensure everyone’s survival.
The player may choose to help Kara and her friends or go it alone, with the impacts of the decision coming into view as the first few levels progress.
Whatever the course, the player will ultimately end up a part of Kara’s caravan whether reluctantly or by choice. While Garrett’s fellow travelers will be excited to learn more about their new compatriot, the player may choose to not be as friendly or forthcoming.
As the levels continue on and Garrett is exposed to different backstories, his successes or failures may also lead to the deaths of those he finds himself growing closer to.

Bovine excrement. Very much so.
gameplay sucks
yes
Really, really did not like this at all. Played for less than 15 minutes and am refunding.
Positives? It has frequent in-level saves that let you continue quickly when you get killed. Yes, when, not if.
Negatives.
This may be nitpicky, but it seemed strange. The first friendly NPC I met had a mask, and said she needed oxygen to move about outside and, quest alert, she wanted me to go find an oxygen tank for her. Enemies also appear to have masks so clearly there's something in the air that people shouldn't be breathing yet the player character doesn't have a mask or oxygen tanks, and seems to have no need of them.
The controls feel odd, definitely better with a controller, but the feel is a bit off. Hard to describe, slightly sluggish in some ways yet quite responsive in others.
The tutorial text says to push the up key and jump key to jump and grab a ledge, but I have to push up, forward, and jump in most spots. Easy enough to figure out, but annoying when the tutorial text says one thing, but does something else.
Close-ups during conversations with NPCs are completely unnecessary and I simply didn't like it. The transition is fast and unnecessary. Just leave the zoom level alone. There are also some areas where you get an extreme close-up when it's an area of interest while running through a level. Again, a bit jarring and unnecessary.
Graphics are mediocre. Could be better, but they work well enough. I won't dwell on these since graphics are always secondary to gameplay, and more on that later.
Animations are so-so. The kick is strange. It seems delayed, then speeds up at one point during the animation. It's also always the exact same roundhouse high kick no matter what you're kicking or distance from the target. Box? Roundhouse. Enemy? Roundhouse. There's no smashing things with the butt of your pistol, rifle, or shotgun but they did add in some kind of axe so at least you can have a bit of variety in melee options.
Music, well, I turned that off right away because I got annoyed by it almost immediately, however know that I usually turn music off or way down in most games. It might be okay to some people but I wasn't impressed.
Gameplay is where this game truly fails for me. As I mentioned sometimes the controls feel just a bit sluggish, but they are generally passable. However, with no mouse pointer on screen moving the mouse to aim feels odd or wrong. It's definitely better with a controller, but not perfect. Had they added a mouse pointer of some kind it would definitely feel a lot better than it does. Basically it feels like your mouse is nothing more than a substitute for an analog stick on a controller.
There's no way I could find to dodge or use cover when fighting an enemy other than crouching down or jumping awkwardly. Seems like you simply have to take hits. Crouching sometimes seems to let the character avoid a shot or two, jumping less so. All in all combat seems to be a large part of the gameplay, and it's just not much fun.
Shotgun range is laughable, way too short, and the spread is ridiculous even at fairly close range. It also takes way too many hits from any gun to drop an enemy. The enemies I've seen were all wearing what looked like regular clothing, not body armour. They don't react at all to hits, even a shotgun blast to the head/face/torso, until it's the one that kills them. Nor do you. Not even a flinch.
Various elements in the game kill or damage you. No issue there, keeps it interesting, however some things can not be touched at all, like laser barriers or spikes. One touch, no matter how quick or small, and you die. Other things harm you like fire. Okay, fine, fire hurts so yeah, it should damage the character. But just barely touching fire for a few milliseconds seems to cause some pretty serious damage, even if it's just your boots that touch it.
Then there are the sentry guns. They lock on and shoot you like crazy. Options? Run, because there's nowhere to hide and no alternative route so you have but one choice. I'd say kick them over or shoot them but you can't damage them at all. They're in the background so you can't shoot them or kick them. I have no idea why not. Same goes for security cameras. They're able to "see" you, but you can't do anything to them.
You can't shoot or damage the structures that emit lasers, fire, electricity, nor can you damage spikes. The only option is to avoid them. This didn't seem too hard early on, however I feel like it gets much harder quickly and due to issues with the controls it was more frustrating than it should have been.
Now, my biggest issue and why I gave up on the game so early, and requested a refund. Wonky hit detection. I was fighting an enemy that was above me, that enemy had a pistol. I could jump up and have a clear line of sight during the apex of the jump only. This meant the enemy should not have been able to anticipate when I'd be visible because it would only see my character for a split second. The enemy, on the other hand, was just standing in the same spot and not moving. So, I jumped, fired, and landed. Somehow the enemy was able to aim, fire, and hit me during that split second but my bullets, which I could see flying through the air (they kinda look like little blue things on the screen) went directly to, and through, the enemy and most did so without doing damage. I had to jump up and stand in front of the enemy in order to shoot and hit the enemy consistently.
I can't recommend this game, it's about a 2/10 for me. It may appeal to some but nothing about it made me want to keep playing, and I didn't find anything about the gameplay fun or engaging.
Well it's post apocalyptic era. We have shit load of guns, laser traps everywhere and got badass name "Garrett".
Aiming could be good but it's OK.
Weapons could be more lethal but i think it's a decision.
it's very interesting comic-book style 2,5D game.
it's indie. totally worth the money.
*20 minutes of gameplay* Refunded.
Post War dreams has the feel of a free browser platform game. It feels like something a teenage would create in the basement of his parents house, seeing back to my own teenage years this is something I did with my best friend, we enjoyed publishing games, but we never charged for them.
I waited quite some time for this game, expecting it to be more a story than a game. Seeing the final product beeing a clunky 2d platform game instead of what I expected I'm not a fan. I should have read about the game, the pictures and videos before release was deciving. This is a sidescrolling 2d platform action game.
The animations are of low quality with almost non present and buggy,
You would expect a good story to drag you in, but instead you start running forward jumping over electricity and avoiding turrets, some enemies are present in the way now and then. It all feel like a repetative obstacle course.
You also start with all weapons and pick up ammo, health and objects. So where there could be a feeling of achivement in finding or trading for new weapons the game takes away that part. After you have passed the obstacle course you will meet up with different characters. I didn't care to engage in the story, as the game mechanics and gameplay seemed to play a much bigger part in my time in this game.
The good:
The world scenery is ok, and the art is decent, caracters look ok.
The bad:
1. Nothing new or creativly intriguing.
2. Feels like a clunky 2d platform brower game with clunky animations from the early 2000.
3. No intro.
4. No guide on how to see your objectives, or no real objectives present.
5. Costs monney when it should be free.
6. A 4 gb game of this quality..
My guy! Go back to the drawing board, get some input on your game before release.. start producing free original content on other platforms.
