TL;DR: Get it on a sale

This is going to be a slightly conflicting review, as I will be refunding the game soon after this review is up.
I am recommending this as the game has amazing combat and great weapon handling. But I feel like there is not enough content to hook me to keep playing. After 90 minutes of gameplay I feel like I have explored most of what is available. I have done near full runs (did not complete final level on each) on the Easy and Medium difficulty, and I have acquired most of the weapons (missing 4 to 5). This is also after spending ~16 hours in The Light Brigade. Personally, I know if I feel like playing a VR Roguelike Shooter, I will choose that game. I think another factor that took me away from the game is that it has not been updated in a few years. I know that the game is fully released but it just means that my issues with the content most probably won't be fixed.

I'd heavily recommend the game on a sale for you to try out and see if it hooks you, because if it does I can guarantee you you'll enjoy it a ton. It just didn't hook me unfortunately.

Its not my cup of tea, But for people that love bullet hells with RNG rouge mechanics this might be for you, However i noticed a Lack of Height adjuster so be warned.

I also personally struggled to reload the railgun, but everything else reloaded fairly easily.

This game is super groovy, absolutely radical. Definitely recommend it for your VR game library.

Addictive gameplay. simple but has enough to keep each playthrough fun and interesting. weapons are satisfying and easy to use, my only complaint about them is trying to grab the front grip with your other hand can be tricky sometimes but you do get used to it the more you use them. one handing weapons is just as effective so it isnt really much of an issue.

just the absolute best VR game to experience old bit games played wolfenstein? how about doom? well that's kool if ya didn't nore.....METAL GEAR!!!! but you have your own abilities with curtain mutations to kill corporate take over 9 levels. play it on HARD... you won't get past level 1 ya noob ITS A MUST HAVE!!!!!!

I swear more people should talk about this game

The game is honestly a fun experience that you can just always come back to whenever. The enemies are challenging the guns reload is not the worst i've seen the shooting feels nice almost like i am playing old doom games. The graphics and the art style are very nice at feeling like you are in old retro games. Overall i would strongly recommend.

A great retro-looking game brought into the world of VR. Quick reflexes and smart movement (strafing, retreating, peeking, and/or dodging projectiles like you're in the Matrix) will determine how well you progress. In addition to the various Steam Achievements, there's a nice trophy wall in your starting menu room, letting you know how far you've come, and how much longer you've got to go. Weapon unlocks don't require you to grind, and with randomly generated map layouts, replayability stays high even after many playthroughs. A wide variety of enemy types, plenty of weaponry, and various game modes keep things fresh for hours and hours.

This is fantastic one of the best VR games.
Every aspect of the game is pure class.
What really makes this stand out from numerous other VR shooters is the lack of any jank. If you die in the game it is because YOU did something wrong.
There is a real challenge here if you play this on any setting above easy and that is what has kept me playing for 22+ hours.

Really fun game, I bet it would pop off even more if it had a workshop.

Reminds me of they kind of game you would see in the background of a TV show. Fun with some satisfying gunplay and reloads. Definitely hard, but if you can take on Challenges like Damage Amp and Compound bow with ease, then the rest of the game will be a cakewalk.

Man this game is SICK!
Its refined, fun, fast and awesome.

Shout out to Speedblack for the awesome OST, but, nothings better than putting on a custom playlist of your own music and flying through the levels with the more enemies and faster bullets mutagen!

I think the price is fair for the quality of this game and the entertainment within it.

The design of the game is perfect, games don't need to be this hyper realistic if the devs know what they're doing like this dude. Another positive is it runs REALLY well.

Definitely recommend this game to anyone who loved DOS Box shooters and a challenge as you will sweat dodging bullets!

reloading the SMG is broken and makes the game so frustrating I refunded it

Easily the most satisfying VR shooter I've played, especially when I pick up the "free reload" power up and reload all of my guns before the timer runs out.

I like this game. I rate it 5/5.

For the price this don't add up. Graphics don't matter but the depth is shallow as a puddle.

Amazing game, been looking at getting it for quite a while and finally pulled the trigger on it.

If you like VR shooting games I would say get this for sure.

Oh and be aware, you WILL take damage if you shoot yourself, so be careful when scratching your head...

The Quest version is better because I don't have to re-press grip to let go of a gun.
That one gripe aside, this is a tricky but satisfyingly challenging VR FPS roguelite. The controls are super tight and the enemies are juuust tough enough that nearly all of my deaths can boil down to "skill issue". Bless.

I just regret unlocking the laser rifle and sticky grenade launcher 'cause I keep getting them in subsequent runs :v

Great VR game. Can especially reccomend it for excercise freaks, particularly when paired with a custom locomotion option like Natural Locomotion (NaLo).

Played the demo, then immediately decided to buy this game, this is so much fun!

I love games like this, the first video game I ever played was the Original DOOM on my old Windows 98, and this game kinda takes me back, with simple graphics, and fun rougelike, I havent put a lot of hours into it at the time of this Review, but I promise this game is amazing!

It's fun for a bit but some flaws hold it back. I would rather not put yes or no on recommend cause I don't like downvoting indie games if I can help it.

The powerups only sit on the map for 3 seconds, not an overstatement, unless you are standing right on top of it when it drops it's going to disappear so 90% of them disappear without me being able to get them, especially far away I shoot someone and sprint to the powerup but its gone before it was physically possible to reach it.

You can really only carry 2 guns to be able to have a free hand to pick up things and reload, except that you can carry 3 guns if you don't want an open hand, so you are incentivized to carry 3 guns and have to constantly drop the third gun to be able to reload or loot anything, kind of obvious bad design IMO.

The enemy AI consists entirely of "walk straight toward you while firing their weapon at the same interval" I mean it works but it's the most barebones thing possible, don't expect anything else.

There's no VR interaction with anything at all in the world, no picking anything up except the ammo/food/powerups, not a big deal.
It's pretty short and levels are tiny, just 3-4 rooms with some enemies in them.

For like $10 I could see it being worth it maybe, but I just don't enjoy it and there's barely anything there.
Just play the demo and decide if you want that plus a couple more levels for $20. When you look at the value vs studio releases, these solo VR devs are really asking way too much $$. And they don't even have to pay a staff they get it all, and good for them they did the work, but it's not worth it to me. This is FPS Ancient Dungeon IMO with the same problems. I would refund it but I bought it months ago and it's way too late now even with 1.4hrs.

SOOOOOOO good, well worth the $20 asking price. If you are looking for a good VR shooter, look no further.

For what it's worth. It's okay.

However personally speaking, I think the developers shouldn't be charging 20 bucks for this.

There is a lack of content in this game in which yeah it's a rougelike, however it just doesn't hold up to other rouges like Risk of Rain or The Binding of Isaac.

I really have to buy a new VR headset. Absolutely loved this game back when I had the Rift.

Perfect - super responsive, beautiful, fun

I keep coming back to this game. It grows on ya. It fills this weird Wolfenstien 3d meets risk of rain 2 vibe. It starts as subtle charm, soon you find yourself unlocking some very cool guns. It's a solid 9/10 for me. Great VR game. Quest 3/s on a black Friday deal? try this.

This game is addictive. I'm not a fan of Rogue Likes or Rogue Lites. But the fact that I couldn't finish the game on medium, drove me crazy. First time I played it on easy. I arrived to the boss super easily, I was disappointed, still got killed cause I didn't know his pattern. Then I played on normal and damn it was hard. But now I'm getting better and better and managed to finish it on normal. I have all the weapons unlocked. The mutators are fun. Especially the one with bow and the one where you have to not being touched once but you kill everybody in one hit.
For the beginners I advise you to do it on easy with the bow or with the mutators that reloads the weapons for you. So you can dual wield and go guns blazing.
My only complaint is the last boss. Cause the invincible frame after you get touched is non existent practically. So, if you are not hiding at the time he shots at you. You're done for.
Technically, the game plays like a Dark Souls. Don't try to go gun blazing like crazy, always try to aggro one enemy at the time. If you can though. And you guessed it, keep turning around in circle for most of them and run also run back like you're playing Serious Sam. But be sure don't end up on another room with other enemies behind you. So loon at the map for the new weapon at the first level of each chapters and at the second one, try to do the mini bosses at the end.

This game is fantastic, a true VR game, not just an experience. The replayability is great and has optional challenge modes with some brutal but fair difficulty.

Fantastic game. With the bHaptics and ForceTube mod, this game is a blast to play through. Great mechanics. Gives that "one more run" feeling. A+

Aside from a few guns having finicky reloads, this game is perfect - it's worth your time and money. A little hard to learn at first, but it quickly becomes a great time-waster with smooth controls and satisfying gameplay. The game really leans into 80's action schlock and satire while giving off nostalgic vibes for old-school gamers. The low-poly colorful graphics look great, but I can see it being a little jarring for people who aren't used to VR or have motion sickness. The huge benefit here is that the performance is flawless; no frame drops or stuttering anywhere (for me, anyway). I'd love to see a sequel or add-on of some kind, or the option to play on desktop. 10/10

im so used to not moving that i struggle to take cover sometimes but this is sick, runs perfectly and its so crisp and satisfying, one of the best vr shooters out there just buy seriously i'm in love with this game

YES SUPER FUN.....BUT the damage amplifier mod is aids litterally got trapped on a wall got shotguned in the face and the boss doesn.t die in one shot while everyone else does its bullshit...
