Hot Dogs, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades (H3VR for short), is the heaping pile of our mad obsessive VR experiments. This is an impressionistically developed experience. We’re 6+ years and a 100+ updates in so far, so expect it to mutate, expand, contract, somersault, and occasionally explode along the way to final release.

i only play meat fortress and its fun, my only non-nitpick complaint is that you cant stash the minigun or flamethrower in your side pockets, although thats tolerable
very good game, many gun, many bullet, but i wish i could fish.
It's a really fun game! There are lots of guns, good gunplay, and some pretty fun game modes. I just got this game at the time of the review, and it's one of my favorite VR games. It is worth the price and runs smoothly even if you have an older VR like the Quest Two [what I use]. So yeah, would recommend it if you like guns or want to learn a bit about guns.
This game is really fun, ~1:1 gun mechanics, you can do almost everything with a gun you can do in real life, short of doing things like an iraqi reload. Take and Hold is too damn fun and i love doing endless runs.
If you're the type of person who likes guns and gun games, this is definitely the game for you. It's probably one of the most (if not THE most) realistic, high-quality, and polished games you can get out there. It has over 500 different firearms, each being able to hold several of the many, many attachments available (scopes, suppressors, ironsights, flashlights, lasers, grenade launchers, and underbarrel shotgun attachemnts, just to name a few). This game is also full of comedic relief; you shoot hotdogs instead of people, there's a screaming lemon cult, there's a guy in one of the gamemodes called "Major Dick"... (they're hotdogs, remember?) and the list goes on.
Overall, if your anything like me or the other 95,000 other players, then this might just turn into your favorite game.
objectively good game but kept crashing for me, great game when it wants to work.
Very fun VR game, and maybe its the god loving freedom spewing American in me but its just a stupid type of fun. the guns that are in it are really well done, plus the dev is a cool dude (his weekly dev logs are fun to watch). plus the inside jokes are great, also it has a tf2 gamemode and i love tf2 so yeah solid game.
Hot Dogs, Horseshoes, and Hand Grenades is a MUST HAVE for VR Headsets. The surreal passion and love for firearms (and pop culture references) that is just on full display throughout this game shows just how much the developer is invested into creating this game.
With game modes such as Sandbox, Meat Fortress, Take and Hold, Zombies (Rotweiners), Meat Grinder (Manhunt-like), the various Ranges, etc. You have many many hours of playtime.
Do not miss out on H3VR.
H3VR is a gem for gun enthusiasts
If you're into firearms or just want a VR game to try out unique weapons, this is it. They recently added thermal scopes and night vision, making everything feel incredibly realistic. H3VR was already fantastic with its variety and fun modes, but now it’s on another level.
Somewhat of a niche genre, but if you enjoy reloading, shooting, and playing around with firearms, then you'll have a good experience with this game. Probably my go-to for those all-nighters.
just got the game, and man do i need a new vr headset, the 2nd generation oculus rift is not aging well
this game is so fun if you wanna go giga autist gun nut like yours truly, however i would love to see workshop support in the future, hopefully h3dev will have plans to make it happen
(also you should try the take and hold mode, its intense af)
If you like guns and have VR, this is a must-have. It's the most in-depth and immersive gun game probably ever. Get it and make those wieners spill their mustard.
wait hold up. this game is awesome. the guns are amazing. the enemys are... well,
questionable but cool too. and the horseshoes are just, ok. but just get this game is you have a vr.
This game is really fun and you can do a lot of tactical stuff with the new night vision goggles
Super Fun. You don't need a crazy strong computer to run it either.
Easily the most fun you can have in VR, and it's not even close. This game will make you love guns no matter how much you already love or hate them.
The guns in this game are as realistic and intuitive as you can possibly get in VR; any function that an IRL gun has will be present here, and then some. I wasn't and still am not a gun guy, but simply by playing this game I have learned so much about firearms that I can genuinely recognize several of them by name in other games.
The developer - while not perfect - clearly cares about this game and its community, and does something that seemingly no other dev does; COMMUNICATE. Through consistent bi-weekly YouTube devlogs, occasional streams, and a constant presence on the Discord server, a thru-line is upkept which allows for the endless fine-tuning courteous of player feedback, which only allows the game to be that much better.
The game's sense of humor doesn't even know what subtlety is, and won't waste a single second establishing how aggressively American its themes are. The simple act of shooting a giant sentient hot dog with an RPG as it mutters drivel about how its own anatomy doesn't make sense, purely embodies this game's sense of humor.
I also really appreciate how this game keeps its environments super simple for the sake of performance, but it also fits in with the worldbuilding; these biggol sausages live in an exaggerated parody of how "fake" and "plasticy" our own world is becoming, and it's a pretty genius blend of fashion and function. Though it may just be a result of the default Unity rendering system looking really fake in of itself...
The game is still in early access after all these years and the scope just keeps getting larger and larger. You could see this as a positive or a negative. But it's undeniable, there is just SO MUCH in this game. With that said though, if you're playing this game for more than 5 minutes, you will be playing one mode and one mode only; Take and Hold. It's the only scene with sufficient variety and replayability that appropriately integrates the depth of the guns into genuine combat scenarios, which kind of sucks. Work is ongoing to create more deep and varied scenes, but as it is at this moment, Take and Hold is the only "real" mode. Everything else is either too shallow or full sandbox. I've heard that "Return of the Rotweiners" may offer a more deep experience, but no matter how many times I try, I can't figure out what the game is actually wanting me to do. I just wander around aimlessly for a while until I get bored. Some more direction would be appreciated there.
Also, to make a small gripe, I don't like how heavily the game likes to lean toward long range combat; for people like me who are nowhere near IRL snipers and often get disoriented trying to look down a scope, trying to genuinely engage at longer ranges equates to me bashing my own head against the wall as the stupid meat agents have 9001/20 eyesight and WILL easily snipe you from a million yards away. Two of the three Take and Hold levels have many incredibly long range combat scenarios that it expects you to fight in, and it just ends up not being fun for me. I will only play on Institution in 3-hold short mode for this reason, but I would like to experience the boss nodes and tougher waves, so it would be really nice if there were an option to have hold and supply rooms be genuinely randomized with the ability to exclude certain rooms. This would also give the transit system an actual use. Seriously, he spent time making an elaborate map and teleporter system when both are made completely useless because the whole 10 SET seeds all have their rooms set to spawn super close to one another. What's even the point then?
With all that said though, you are doing your headset a great injustice by not including this game on it. If you own a headset, you are owning this game; NO EXCEPTIONS!
amazing simulator at a great price.
The game used to be very good and innovative and one of the best experiences in VR that I recommended everyone buy.
However its seems the Dev is so stuck in his political ways (you can guess what type of politics) that he wont add police related stuff, WW2 axis related, the AK-50 or anything that goes even slightly against what he believes. He also has grown to be a very obnoxious and arrogant man towards anyone who disagrees with him even in the slightest or if you were like me or many of the others I have seen him and his mods do this to, all you did was ask for a gun to be added or enquire about the possibility of one being added and he gives some snide remark back.
great game but it dosent have hot dogs horseshoes or hand grenades for some reason. plz add anton
this game is great, and with mods, absolute perfection. this game has a special way of curing being bored ive ever seen. 11/10, would buy again. Great community in the discord too. We love you, Anton!!!

The de facto best gun simulator for VR, and what you're shooting at is sentient food.
As of the time being, this game has the most realistic arsenal out of any VR game in existence. I'm not joking. The enemies may not be as realistic, but this is the VR game with the largest arsenal and the most feature rich when it comes to guns.
The game itself has a lot of small "minigames" that range from normal shooting ranges and "free roam" (where you can spawn enemies and guns) to zombie survival and even a copy of team fortress 2. The "return of the rotwhieners" gamemode alone if woth the entire game. All of this while being constantly updated.
If you like guns, hand grenades and whieners, this is the game for you. Except for the horseshoes. Fuck the horseshows, i hate them!
The movement is so ass and theres little to no fighting. The only real fighting is Take and Hold which is mad repetive and then theirs the TF2 mode that has maybe the worst map every maybe port 2fort or dustbowl into the game. Other than that the game has great gun physics and has every gun imaginable but not way to search what gun to get just click around classes looking for your desired gun
If you even remotely like guns, you'll love this game! It is by far the most realistic gun simulator out there. check out Anton Hand, the developer of the game, for the most recent updates and see for yourself.
First off, Anton is amazing, he is constantly listening to user feedback and doing weekly devlogs which is crazy. The game itself is amazing and jam packed with features. Amazing bang for your buck.
The gun system and the hotdogs are funny asf, it's just that i cannot hold my pistols with both hands and it's annoying, the pistols dont sound like normal pistols, more like a pop sound than a gun sound yk. I wish i had actual hands instead of 2 balls as hands, makes things more confusing when loading a gun
peak game
- Pros:
a lot of guns
VR
cool scenes/maps
murica
Cons:
None here
very fun a bit of lag on quest easy to mod recommend using thunder store for mods make sure to us the app and website unless you know what too do. 5 stars
I am literally addicted to this game. it is so enticing and so easy to come back to. the game never gets old. the only thing that gets old is wearing the headset for hours on end because the game is so damn good.
This game is a crime against ergonomics and user friendlyness. I really believe it was made on purpose to induce migraines and push players away. In a day and age Into the radius has released (which despite its many problems nailed weapon controls in VR), this feels like a game from the last century in comparison. Between the weird and non customizable controls (there's barely a free movement mode, we're in 2024 by the way) and the weapons just blatantly not wanting to switch between safe mode and fire, it's actually easier to operate a real firearm at a real range than even trying to play this.
There's indeed a cool sandbox with tons of weapons, alas there's no actually fun missions to use them, and regardless your will to play will be crushed by the general clunkyness and roughness of the game in an hour at most.
Also the developpers actively refuse to implement workshop support, they wouldn't even have to provide any help, they could just add it and let the modders do the rest; there are already mods for the game in fact, alas i'm not gonna use crappy thunderstore; they probably thought about it and concluded that steam workshop is far too good and practical for them to implement.
This game is disappointement in a bottle.
this game is great if you want to shoot firearms but you don't live in an area where you can or you don't have the money to. the game also has many historic guns that you either can't get or you can't get ammo for. there is also a huge modding community that allows you go get even more guns and change other things about the game. ita all around just a great time
The single best VR game on the market today. There is no other way to put it. This game has love, attention, and care pouring out of every corner.
I love this game, but the only thing i need from it, THE ONLY THING. Is real hands. i feel like controllers for hands is weird.
It's a gun simulator with lots of gamemodes and a great sandbox. The dev is kind of a hypocritical self-righteous holier-than-thou soyboy with a heart full of spite and pettiness, but the game and most of the community is good. Also try mods.
probably the most comprehensive and in depth gun game for VR right now
has a lot to do just sandbox wise as well as some challenge modes, and a few PvE modes that span between survival horror to a clear the facility mode
works incredible on index with control scheme
H3VR is a very good game that doesn't focus on FPS combat like Pavlov, but instead on gun simulation, it does that very well, with plenty of maps to use, and a wide variety of firearms to choose from, there are also modes like take and hold to scratch that FPS itch, and more modes like contract griller on the way, though you might have to wait on that.
This game has given me many hours of fun in VR even though it has been the single reason ive broken multiple Cords and punched a wall once its still one of the best games ive played the Dev is a great person updates come out every couple months and theres lots of guns and explosives to use and shoot. 10/10 would buy again
This game has hot dogs, horseshoes, and hand grenades, but no sex :(
Best guns in vr plus fun game modes and also t̶f̶2̶ meatfortress.
Absolutely incredible attention to detail, and a real passion for the games development are the only things that could have made a game like this possible.
Whilst there are any number of indie titles that show passion, I cannot think of any games I know where the devs continue to push updates, sometimes with huge amounts of content, post early access release FOR FREE! I wasn't even sure the game was still categorized as early access, as the level of polish and amount of content is far better than what I have seen of most recent AAA games,
The primary dev releases weekly videos showing what he has been working on and what he has planned, and I can only stand in awe of what he has put into this game, in terms of effort and commitment.
Has quickly become one of my favorite games in VR. The dev Anton is one of the best I've seen, with constant updates for OVER 8 YEARS now, very active in the community, and weekly update videos on his Youtube channel. There is also more accessibility features than any other VR game I've tried. Take and hold is definitely the best mode and most of my playtime was spent there and I'm only just getting into mods so I'm excited for the future. To put it simply, Wonderful
Game is very good, gun mechanics are super good and guns feel good to shoot and reload and manipulate the firearm, this game has so much firearms to choose from, from a musket to a railgun and laser pistol to a giant kolibri or m1911 to a portato cannon and MUCH more.
There are also mods you can install that can expand the firearm selection or new levels or just a pillow.
Overall i reccomend this game to anyone getting into PCVR and has a interest in firearms.
My specs are as followed
Oculus Quest 3
AMD Ryzen 7 1700
RTX 3060 12gb
16 gb ddr4
my pc can handle the game perfectly on ultra pretty much.
I am aware that oculus is now "meta" but i prefer the name oculus as it fits the naming system more "meta rift" doesnt sound right but oculus rift does.
I didn’t know I could have so much fun playing with meat.
This is probably the hardest but most rewarding VR shooter. T&H alone offers insane challenges and a great sense of satisfaction. Getting the drop on a patrol, clicking your rifle to auto, and just hosing down weenies with FMJ is amazing.
It runs on my Xeon 3.1 with 16gb of ram and a Quadro K2200 tethered to a Quest 2. Not all scenes run well, but all so far run well enough to test and most well enough to play around in.
Excited for contract grilled!
broke a couple wieners, shot rockets over a hill where i think a city was behind. added an underbarrel grenade launcher to my picatinny railed knife , then went home and played this game, can reccomend
Easily my favorite VR game. Fishe likes guns, fishe likes shooting hotdogs with
guns. Anton is such a devoted dev too. The fact that this game still gets regular updates is something else. This is a must have if you are into VR, stop thinking and buy the game.
This game is the best VR sandbox game I've seen, and the Take and Hold mode is easily the best single player gun game I've ever played.
It has everything you could possibly want from a shooter game, like if you wanted to play as a SWAT operator, you can just select the Modern weapons mode in Take and Hold, and go play. Wild West/early WWI? just select the western mode and have fun. Even the other modes like Return of the Rotwieners have a bunch of content in them, and this isn't even mentioning the super realistic gun mechanics and ballistic physics.
The game is also extremely accessible to new VR users, featuring multiple ways of moving for everyone's taste. My VR controllers recently got controller drift, making it very difficult to enjoy other VR titles, however, thanks to the special movement system H3VR has to offer, I don't have to worry about constantly running into walls or off cliffs.
AND ITS ONLY $19.99 USD? COMPARED TO OTHER VR GAMES, THAT IS AN ABSOLUTE STEAL.
The only issues the game has is the lack of content other than the Take and Hold mode and TF2 themed mode, but that is being fixed as time goes on, and the fact that all of the enemies are hotdogs kinda ruins the immersion, but that really isn't an issue.
Amazing firearms models
Nice attention to detail
Very well made and addictive game
9/10
Tons of replay potential, THE most realistic firearms I've seen in vr, frequent updates, live devlogs, MODDING; very well made game!!
A gun sandbox to the max. Every part of H3VR is an excuse to fire, reload, and generally handle firearms. And my God. There are so. Fucking. Many.
And sooo many places to use them! Multiple firing ranges, arcade gamemodes, the like. If you want a game about guns, hotdogs, and hotdogs with guns, this is IT.
There is a short adaptation period to exactly how everything handles, but it is worth your time.
Game fuckin' ROCKS.
played for 2.5 hours currently signing on for the SAS
