The Parks
The game is a continually growing ecosystem of parks created by both the community and the developer. Each park, managed by a single player, is its own self contained universe that offers consistent level quality as well as a place to return to as more levels are created. Parks can be visited by jumping into portals located throughout the hub world or by using the in-game park browser. Each park is filled with levels that can be created with a variety of styles and objectives. Some levels may be an intense obstacle course requiring expert precision, analysis, and execution. Other levels may be open worlds with a variety of smaller challenges to be completed independently. Levels can have special rewards for taking difficult paths, finding secret locations, completing a section under a specified time limit, or gathering collectibles in a dangerous area.
Level Editor
As a creator, the level editor gives you full control of everything in your park. Once the park is opened it is always online and accessible to anyone with the game. You can watch your park from above, play alongside visitors, and view real-time population metrics to gather valuable feedback about your levels. The level editor gives the tools to create spaces efficiently without limitations. Using a visual interface creators build entire levels without any programming or scripting languages. The editor provides customizable shape primitives, terrain, voxels, materials, animations, lighting, music, sound effects, particles, prefabs, and more. Prefabs give designers the ability to create complex re-usable objects in discrete packages. Park Bound embraces an open design philosophy where creations can be shared and modified freely between authors. This atmosphere of collaboration allows authors to combine and improve existing ideas to create new worlds.

It's simple, it's effective, it's a Level Editor, it's Low-poly, it shares custom-campaigns, it supports multiplayer, it's any difficulty you build it to be, it's a challenge to learn and a reward to wield, it's a 3d Platformer at heart, it let's you decide the time you contribute, it's great to study 3d space and layouts, it's great for geometric studies, it can build beautiful landscapes and cities of shapes, it's easy to assemble 3d maps quickly once familiarized, it teaches good economic use of shape and distance of audience perception.
Sure, it's bare-bones to anyone looking for one of those beautiful polished famous 3d Platformers...
Yet as a creative-modder once told me (in another Level-Editor):
"You can build all the sequels you could ever want; it just requires your time to build it".
And that rings true for all Level-Editors.
If you're one of those Visionaries who is called to Build, be Creative, and test Layouts - try this game.
You might just learn something vital for game development.
Because it's the simple lessons that you'll remember for the rest of your life.
Everything complex you see in life including those big beautiful games can all be reduced to basic concepts in a game like this.
Appreciate what this game offers; and this game will appreciate you.
Solid little platforming "hangout" kinda game. The base game + all the user created worlds really showcase a ton of creativity and the potential of the game's creation suite.
Better with friends, of course.
A stupidly underrated Roblox-esque MMOG that allows you to build the game of your dreams.
Pros:
* Build your world any way you want.
* Don't feel like building? try any of the worlds created by others online. But be warned- They're HARD.
* Simple, colorful graphics
Cons:
* One hit Death. I'm sure you understand what that means...
* World creation takes a lot of time and effort, especially if you're like me and are more used to games like Mario Maker.
* A lot of stuff is- *Ahem* "Inspired" by games like Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 3D World. If you love those games, You might like this.
Such a frustrating game. The platforming is so basic and poorly made that it doesn't matter what cool levels players come up with, it isn't fun. Save your money.
- The controls are pretty rough. There is no sensitivity on the movement so it's all or nothing, some deadzone issues as well
- No depth perception possible. Because the game went with flat shading and no textures you can't really tell where you are after jumping. You have to guess and will usually miss.
- Multiplayer is dead.
- Everything feels bland and generic. The screenshots and videos make it look like there is a lot to do, but in reality most levels are just coin collecting. Obstacles are re-used a lot and just colored differently between stages.
Great game the levels are challenging and fun. Plus you get to play other peoples levels it amazing. I love the level editor. You can make almost anythong and the level space to build on is so massive to the point it could take days to make a level that fills the map. I find it cool that you can contain levels in parks allowing you to make a full on platformer game. The level editor is a little confusing at first but once you get it down you can make amazing levels. Worth the 15 dollars.
I recommend this game!!
I bought this based on the reviews and I am not disappointed!
If you like mini games like jumping games and agility games or games like jumping quest in maplestory.
This is the game for you!
There are so many games. You can even create your own park. This is a great game for $15! Wish I found it sooner!!
Not only that, the people in here are really friendly too!!
Overview:
I happened to come across this game not too long ago and, having now played 400+ hours of it, I'm really glad I did. The gameplay is fun, the community is welcoming, the creation tools are flexible, and the developer (Bambastic Games) is friendly and attentive to the game and its players. That's the abridged review, so now for the details:
Quick Note for Parents:
This online game allows all players to type chat messages to each other and create almost anything they want in their own levels. The developer can moderate content whenever possible, but the potential for inappropriate content to eventually surface will always be present in games of this nature. Fortunately, the community tries to stray away from producing questionable content. However, I still highly recommend adult supervision for younger gamers during online play in ANY game. Safety first!
Gameplay:
If you've played 3D platformers before, you probably have a good idea of how the controls feel. The moveset is simple and your character's running and jumping movements are very precise, but not overly sensitive. There's also a variety of in-level items to enhance or change your movement options such as Double Jump, Jetpack, and a ball to roll around in. The collision detection is also very polished, especially considering it has to work with a variety of level designs. If other players are online, while you may see them playing and chatting with you in levels, their actions do not directly affect you.
The Parks in the game function as hub worlds. These hubs are created by players and can be used as gateways to the levels they make, much like Super Mario 64. Everyone is allowed to make only 1 hub world at the moment, but can add as many levels as they want to it. The main goal of each level is to reach its treasure chest, which has a fun little user-made treasure inside that can be viewed later in the hub. Stars can also be collected for completing certain level objectives. Your completion progress in all parks is automatically saved so you can continue where you left off upon revisiting them. Parks and individual levels can be searched for in the Park Browser, which can be found in the menu or the main lobby.
You can create a simple custom character with some neat options for hair and accessories. Each aspect of the character can be recolored as you please. You can also change your appearance at any time from the changing room in the main starting hub, which is nice. The hub also has the occasional special challenge that allows you to nab a snazzy new accessory if you complete it within a certain timeframe.
Editor:
Where to even begin? If you look to the left of the house in the main lobby, you'll see a teleporter with a sign that says "BUILD", which takes you to the level editor. This is where I spend much of my play time, which is for a good reason. There are so many options that I've had almost no trouble getting my raw level ideas into motion. All it requires is a little time.
If you prefer a simple level-editing experience, you can choose from an extensive list of pre-made objects to drag and drop into your levels. If you're a bit more daring, you can switch to Advanced Mode (my preferred way to build), create primitive shapes, assign behaviors and modifiers to them, and set their materials/color. You can even turn groups of connected shapes into prefabs to compile them together for easy editing and importing between level projects.
There's also a robust graph-based timeline system that lets you synchronize the actions of nearly any behavior or modifier. You can have multiple timelines as well, which allow you to make actions as varied, detailed, and precise as you want. I've been able to create many types of dynamic platforms, animated NPCs, and background effects with this incredibly useful feature.
Speaking of effects, the sound effect editor is very interesting. Upon generating a sound object, you can choose between a few preset noises as well as form completely new sounds, all from within the editor. There are plenty of audio sliders to toy with as you form the perfect sound effects to compliment the features of your levels. You can also upload a music track to play in the background of your level (provided you have the proper copyrights in order!), which can really help set the mood and atmosphere. I highly recommend experimenting with sounds from time to time, as they can really boost a level's quality.
This only scratches the surface of what the editor can do and, if you ever get stuck while building, the community is more than happy to give you tips and tricks!
Graphics:
Park Bound's core artstyle is a sharp, polygonal look. Your custom character, power-ups, and a few other hardcoded assets follow this style. This is as far as the artstyle goes, however. What do I mean? Well, one misconception about the game is that everything absolutely has to look this way. However, since all of the levels are user-created, anyone is free to push the limits of the engine to their heart's content. Also, if your system has the recommended specs, most levels should run at a smooth 60fps.
Music/Sound:
The game leans towards a catchy 8-bit feel with its default music and sounds. However, since music can be uploaded and most sounds can be altered for each level, most of what you listen to will be a mixed bag of styles. Some players use the default music (which consequently may increase the amount of time you're listening to the same tunes) but there's a shortcut key to mute all music if you need a break or want to listen to something else in the background while you play.
Community:
The community for the game is quite small at the moment (I've been the only player online on quite a few occasions), but most of the current playerbase is very friendly. Most of the players I interact with are very encouraging and give valuable feedback as well. Don't be afraid to ask someone for advice on your next level or chat with them about fun levels you visited! And since users are always creating new areas, there plenty of places to simply hang out as well if you prefer a more laid-back experience.
Conclusion:
If you like creating and sharing levels, you'll almost certainly love this game. If you like platformers, there's an increasing number of 3D levels to try, all with various difficulties. If you like online communities, consider joining us and expanding the player base. If you still aren't sold, I suggest keeping this game on your radar. As time goes on, players join, updates release, and content increases, I'm sure you'll find something to enjoy.
Thank you for reading!
Amazing game, like a 3D mario maker. The trailer does a horrible job of showing how good and high quality the game is (srsly bam fix this) but the game is actually very good and can be played on very old/slow computers. Theres plenty to do, theres usually under 4 players online at once, 12 players at most if you are lucky, so we have plenty of room for more players, come join! The game is around 1 year old at time of writing this so theres lots of room for improvement so if you think its not that good then just wait a bit.
A cute little game, with solid platforming and controls. It's a bit sparse at the moment, and there are a few bugs to iron out, but if you see this game on sale absolutely pick it up!
I great platforming game to just hop in with your friends and have a good time. Laugh and suffer at the will of the level maker, plenty of levels that range from easy to hard. Overall a really fantastic game.
Great little gem, first time I hopped on I was confronted by really friendly people. I was exploring all the user maps and its definitely a game that I will be playing on my spare time, especially since I've already started working on my first map. I wan't to see this game grow because I've had such an awesome experience for the money well spent. Thanks devs!
I can't believe I found this game. It is truly amazing! More people should know about this!
This game is basically Super Mario Maker for the PC, but in 3D. At first glance, it may be a simple game with simple graphics and textures, but that's because it makes it easier to make levels! When you look past that, you enter an amazing game with loads of potential! You can create your own hub worlds, your own levels, or shall we say, parks. You can make parks that have obby courses, a place to just hang out and chat, an open world level, it is what YOU decide! You can play other people's levels too!
I can't wait to see what the dev has planned for future updates!
It is worth £10.99!
So come on, buy the game now, it is worth every penny! Now excuse me whilst I go back to the game!
Needs an option to have static shadows under the player. It's really helpful for jumping
Also, the default gamepad settings (with an xbox 360 controller) break the double jump and glider. The xbox 360 trigger sends multiple inputs as you release it. The glider kind of works if you hold it down at the right time, but the double jump basically won't work unless you map it to a buton instead of the trigger.
With that said I beat the default park 100% and really enjoyed it! Happy to support this in early access and have already gotten my money's worth.
Surprisingly functional for an early access title. “Completed” the game bug-free, only a few bugs in the editor. A good platform player can hammer through this game in a day’s time, but with the easily available editor, tons of challenges are bound to pop soon enough. Being a map maker myself I can heartily recommend.
This game is honestly great. Like everyone else says its Mario Maker for the pc with 3d elements. They just need to add stats of levels and get more people play. First time i felt like i got my money's worth from a game in a long while
This game is like a 3D Mario Maker done right and with multiplayer! It isn't perfect, but it's pretty darn fun and currently the best game of its kind out there.
Starting content includes a ton of different worlds (worlds being collections of levels) that are all very well designed.
Being able to build my own worlds, not just levels, and share them is so cool!
There's even controller support, which is a huge plus to me!
The only issue I've had so far is that I wish your character's shadow would show on all surfaces, and show even when the player is in shadow. Otherwise, it's sometimes hard to see where I'm landing.
If you like 3D platformers, do yourself a favor and check this one out.
Good game.
Controls work very well.
The editor is very confusing sometimes.
Falling object / enemy spawners would be nice to have.
Thank you for Linux support. :)
This game has such a great concept and for being labeled as "Early Access", I believe the developer has done a great job so far! As long as there are consistent updates and the playerbase continues to grow (I really hope it does!), I think that this game will only get better and better.
A good solid platformer. the dev's park has plenty to do while the game builds traction.
The level editor will take some time to learn but has alot of potential. This game is a must if you like making levels. cant wait to see what others make.
This is really well made so far for EA game. The level designs look great and the levels are fun but, still very challenging with a lot of variety in gameplay, like in one level you can't jump and have to dodge penguins but, another level you have a jetpack. Player made content! The editor is very detailed in how you can edit pretty much anything you place down but, you also have quite a bit of content to choose from lots of decorative stuff as well as traps, platforms, and other items to build your world with and can make a world as big as you want too. If you like platformers with other people or with friends you should really check this game out cause its worth it.
It's basically like Mario Maker, but for PC and in 3D!
Highly recommend it! Especially good with friends, but it's entirely solo friendly. If the community stays alive, then this game will be a total blast!
