It is criminal that this game is still $60, and also the muliplayer is plagued with constant disconnections these days.
Campaign is awesome, multiplayer is fun & the zombies is a real blast from the past.
Pagar por un bug waos
Fair warning **DO NOT** go on multiplayer without plutonium. vanilla bo2 has been taken over by hackers and they can mess up your pc. if you want to play bo2 multi or zombies get plutonium t6. otherwise, you have an exceedingly high chance of getting a virus on your pc. The game is still peak with plutonium tho. hope a remake or smth comes out soon, I miss bo2.
Other than the rampant hackers on vanilla servers, the game still holds up and it is fun as BALLS. I haven't played search and destroy in years, and trying it again today has resulted in nothing but flagrant happiness.
love you, black ops 2. i will never forget
This game is pretty great, if you want to play online modes such as multiplayer and zombies I'd recommend installing the plutonium client (which is why i have no hours on this game)
Also only get it when it's on deal.
Childhood Game i played with my cousins on 4-splitscreen co-op zombies (TranZit) i played it every time they come over for the holidays and pull out their XBOX 360. i never knew how to play zombies at the time and throughout playing it more and more, i realized what perks were (yes i was that stupid but come on, i was a kid.. xd) i knew how to use them, i knew how to beat zombie maps, i knew about the easter egg songs and other shenanigans and whatnot. i'd give it a try again but the classical nostalgic way....The 360 Era..
while i do not agree with the price being what it is to this day. if this game is on sale, definitely give it a shot (mainly for the campaign). the campaign at most is the only reason i play these older cods to this day but i mainly find myself coming back to play this one from time to time, almost like a tradition lol. very interesting and chaotic campaign, thats basically all i recommend it for.
This review will be separated into 3 sections about each gamemode. Hours are not accurate since they don't include my console time. Don't ask me why I'm reviewing this in 2025.
Campaign
Easily the most replayable campaign in Call of Duty history, with story elements that change from your actions, a good story with lovable characters continuing from Black Ops, and customisable loadouts, it provides a solid casual single player experience. Difficulty isn't ridiculous even on veteran and is very easy to grasp for newcomers.
Multiplayer
Surprisingly a lot more active than I expected it to be. Given you're probably gonna need to search at weird hours and play on high ping depending on your region but you can definitely still find games of tdm. Wouldn't recommend getting this game solely for the multiplayer though unless you really feel like a nostalgia trip or happen to live in the US/UK
Zombies
Black Ops 2 offers some decent zombies maps if you are willing to fork out more money for the dlcs. The only on-disk map is the infamous Green Run, starring TranZit, Town, Bus Depot and Farm survival. While these can be fun every once in a while with friends or just a casual game, they don't have much replayability and feature many tedious mechanics. The dlcs are a definite improvement but still have their flaws. Do not buy this game if this is your first zombies experience, Black ops 1 and 4 offer a better time for both casual and seasoned players, and I only recommend it if you want a complete zombies experience or are looking for more content.
I played this in late 2012 to 2014 on PS3 with over 700 hours (Campaign - Zombies - Multiplayer), I fully nostalgic and have many flashbacks in Raid, Nuketown 2025, Slums, Town, Tranzit, and more...
The sad thing now about this game is that it's no longer based on the future .
A classic for sure. make sure to turn your graphics in game up though.
friggen goated, friggen loved this one so friggen much makes my heart all butterflie
Dear Treyarch, you and your nasty patty company, have brought me nothing but grief and emotional trauma! WHy you choose to sell your 40 year old grandpa game for 60 Gigadollars. Get the hizeck outta here yo! Issa good campaign tho, u remember raul menedez, goshdarn.
Please bro ||(This is a joke)||
1000/100.. nothin but pure nostalgia when it comes to BO series
It was good for a while until I started to play again the first match was fine until the second one starts I get booted for so called Timed out when I was actively moving then after a few more of those I got a steam server failure message so I hoped off went to CS:GO and started to rubber band for no reason in several different lobby's rendering me useless even though my whole team was fine and I had good connection. I assumed I got hacked and uninstalled bo2 but I'm still rubber banding. Why hack peoples accounts to steal card info and mess up others account what what perverted feeling's do they get from this. Whats next steal my account that will not be bought because the people in their crappy third world country can't afford video games. so if I was hack good for them they got two dollars off my account and removed a real player of of bo2.
Its been 13 years and its still #1
-| Sei nicht traurig, dass es vorbei ist, sei glücklich, dass es passiert ist |-
This game is still amazing. Although the game is a massive security risk. Hackers have breached the servers and can execute code on your computer.
If you're just playing the campaign boot the game whilst Steam is in offline mode. If you want to play Multiplayer and Zombies without cheaters, your best bet is to use the Plutonium client.
Play this classic safely now!
If you can find this on deep discount its cool. Classic single player with awesome battles and set pieces. The story flashes between the past and future! Very cool!.....Multiplayer is dead and hackers will use it to take over your PC. SINGLE PLAYER ONLY!
The best COD of all time in my opinion. This game was a huge portion of my childhood besides YouTube but I mainly watched Vannos and the crew so I guess it was still the game lol.
I liked the story line and the action. I recommend this game.
This so called "Masterpiece" is unplayable. A year ago this game worked just fine. Now, it refuses to launch even though I've tried every single "fix" out there.
AND I still can't believe that they haven't lowered the price of older COD titles including this one.
na minha opinião um dos melhores Call Of Duty já lançado e meu jogo favorito de todos os tempos!!!!
good story, good mechanics its pretty good to do on veteran, but its way too short its only 11 main missions which is the shortest cod ive played so far
I don’t even have to say anything.
The game speaks for itself.
It’s 2025. Play this game.
I 🄵🅄🄲🄺🄴🄳 with this game since November, 2012 on release day for the Xbox 360.
Play this 🄵🅄🄲🄺🄸🄽🄶 game NOW.
Black Ops 6 scans your face through your webcam and listens in through your audio devices even when disabled btw.
Play Black Ops II.
Thank you.
Overpriced DLC and base game, overall still kicks ass like it did back then. I'd only recommend it whenever (and if) it goes on sale.
the most overrated of the series, but the negative review is actually for the price, the game is fine.
Black Ops 2 imo was always the most overrated one, it was more of the same CoD formula, with the future war stuff i never really enjoyed, and basically none of the cool Black Ops vibe. That said, its does notable things for the series that get buried under the veneer of same-old, same-old.
pros:
-story branches. for the first and basically only time in the series, the story involves a few key choices. They do little affect the rest of the immediate level but do a lot to change the course of the story and their are endings that reflect basically every choice.
-same old tight gameplay
-side missions with proper planning and permadeath.
-great voice acting
cons:
-story and characters kinda suck no matter what, save its villain, whos really compelling
-same old boring gameplay, this time with less immersion than ever. You cannot turn off hit markers or similar HUD markers in SP, despite no previous game ever using hit markers in SP. Kinda destroys immersion.
-choices are overly signalled and unintuitive.
love the game
$60 MINIMUM for a 13 year old piece of fucking garbage that's riddled with exploits, RCEs, and so much more, more than your local hooker riddled with STDs. LITERALLY dangerous ones too might I add, to the point where running this game on your machine AT ALL, ESPECIALLY when it's anywhere near an internet connection, is literally a severe risk without using a 3rd party launcher / patch (the game also not launching what so ever 95% of the time without the patch btw lmao) for which BY THE WAY multiplayer is STILL an absolute hazard, is literally so dipsh!t r3t4rded that I have ZERO idea why this actual, literal disease is allowed to exist on steam in the first place, without being removed and banned off of it. Genuinely amazing.
BO1 and 2 especially, as well as 3, for years now have been nothing more than 40-60+ dollar, pure zombies games, which obviously needless to say the parts of are absolutely incredible, and obviously why these games are with a shred of life still to this day in the first place, and obviously this "review" is not at all directed towards them, just everything else that is utterly fucking disgusting. Why exactly does valve allow such dangerous garbage, especially with ZERO disclaimer, AND for such a fraudulent price again? Can someone explain to me lmao. And people are still convinced that valve and steam are "tHe GoOd GuYs" when they routinely do horsesh!t like this, and with this being the hilariously MINIMAL scale of dumbassery they have always, and still always get up to, and with the number of it also being quite large.
Long live zombies.
Yes it's a COD but... 60€ for a 13 years old game? AIN'T NO WAY!

games good but have to leave a negative review for the price $90? Get it on G2AGAMES for cheaper.
the graphics are bad zombies is kinda fun not like a remember tho honestly buy the newer ones thye have better graphics
(Played for the Campaign)
Huh.
So close to being genuinely brilliant; trapped by the fact its a Call of Duty game. Totally get why this one is beloved and considered the last of "the good ones". Good campaign variety; a solid combat sandbox; the branching paths and customisable loadouts are all genuine improvements. Its also a way better port than BO1.
I definitely admire the ambition here to play the moral grey and provide a villain who's basically right, but it can't realty fully execute some of its ideas; from the wonky; mechanically broken "strike team" missions, the fact is that it rarely elaborates on the historical events it covers and has to cartoonishly contort some scenarios so the American's can't be too much of the bad guy. It's final act is genuinely bonkers/stupid and brilliant all at the same time - peak 2012. which absolutely gives it character.
I did enjoy it. Would recommend this cheap.
A phenomenal campaign. Definitely Call of Duty's best (that i've played so far).
just wanted to archive my refund request here
1. this game literally takes place 3 months from now (upon release, that was THIRTEEN YEARS into the future) and it still costs 60 dollars
2. the game isnt fun
3. cod wwii campaign is miles better
4. the multiplayer is riddled with dangerous bugs, and the one project that attempted to remedy this in the SLIGHTEST was shot down not 1 year ago.
5. a game developed by 2 people (ultrakill) is somehow more fun and action packed than a classic game made by treyarch studios funded by activision.
6. id rather eat sand than pay 60 dollars for useless oldhead memorabilia on my account
thank you for reading
Flogging this game for £40 with it...:
- Being a sad excuse for a PC port
- Being 13 years old later this year
- Now no longer being in the future
- Freezing my entire computer up on multiple occasions including on the last section of the last mission of the fucking campaign
- Multiple game breaking glitches like mouse sensitivity issues rendering segments like the jet part near the end and various other segments like the Valkyrie rocket on mission 1, wingsuit sections and driving sections
- Multiplayer being filled with cheaters and hackers
- The only zombies maps available without DLC being Transhit, Bus Depot, Farm and the only decent one out of the lot, Town.
- Flogging the complete edition of the game for close to £70
...is unacceptable.
If you have an Xbox or Playstation or whatever, get Black Ops 2 from your local game store for what I've commonly seen is under £12. Don't let Treyarch mug you off with the prices here on Steam.
this game is so fucking good, not on pc tho its unbeatable on pc, get to cordis die jet part and youll understand
Do not buy game does not even start really disappointing I hope they fix it Still a amazing game though
1. it didnt even launch when i first installed it, and i would rather emulate it of off the internet. 2. this game came out 13 years ago, and yet the price is still $60. and finally for the cherry on top of this shit cake that is an activision product is that its now 2025 and black ops 2 didnt even predict the future. although it sounds like ive just said that black ops 2 is the worst game to ever be released, there are still some positives and that being that the campaign, zombies, and multiplayer are great, i would still recommend playing this game, and i think that the downfall of this game is due to the lack of maintenance from activision
It's officially 2025, there is literally no better time to play this game than right now. Highly recommend, one of the best Call of Duty games, and the last one from the Golden Era (2007 - 2012).
an amazing campaign, with great story and action, but i wish it was longer.
Another bad PC port by Treyarch. On top of being one of the six-ish games that are still vulnerable to remote code execution by bad actors, it also runs badly. Be it the campaign with lots of stuff going on or just Nuketown zombies, the game is constantly hitching, every couple of seconds, sometimes multiple times within a second.
The game's graphics options are outdated, with 90 (actually 106) FOV being the max and LODs popping in all over the place, and there being no way to adjust them. Ambient occlusion or whatever also messes with anti-aliasing and smoke. So whenever there's an object in front of smoke or other similar effects there's a visible, ugly outline to it.
The cherry on top is that it took almost half an hour to get the three different game exes running, as the "updating executable" bug refused to let me launch any of the modes, even after verifying the files multiple times. After enough trying it eventually worked, but it's still somewhat glitchy right now and I had to restart my PC. This seems to not be exclusive to this game, as I've seen post son the general Steam discussions that this is happening for other games like AvP and etc. as well. So it's a Steam issue apparently.
Either way, I wholeheartedly enjoyed this back in the day on XB360, but coming back to it on PC years later I'd say just pass on this game. Regular MP isn't safe to play, the P word launcher although safe has an annoying watermark and the devs behind it are stubborn regarding any feedback that people bring up, and just for solo play in ZM/MP or the campaign the asking price isn't worth it.
Maybe it'll run fine on your system, with overkill DDR5 RAM and such, but even then I don't think it's worth it to go back to. If you want zombies just get BO3 for $20 on sale. While BO3 has performance issues at well (this time due to Steam/Treyarch blaming each other), you can alleviate it via a community patch that fixes the stuttering in menus.
BO3 still isn't perfect performance-wise, it's always been a coin flip too if you bother to read the discussion threads regarding performance, but it's definitely better than this game overall, in both content and performance. For the most part BO3 runs better than this game, and it has a workshop.
Specs for anyone who want to shame and blame my PC not being good enough for a game built on 2005 7th gen console hardware:
Xeon 1230 v3 (roughly an i7 4770)
4x8GB DDR3
1060 6GB
OS on SATA SSD / Game on separate SATA SSD
Last thing I have to say is that other titles like SHG's WW2 run fine. CoD: WW2 was made for 8th gen hardware, yet it runs essentially flawlessly. This game is just a bad PC port, just like BO1.
Broken, won't launch. Just says "Updating Executeable". Works fine on my Surface Book 2, but refuses to launch on my desktop. Incompetent devs.
One of if not the BEST CoD games off all time, INCREDIBLE zombies, great campaign, I dont play multiplayer but its good (or I've heard), too bad you cant buy individual Zombies maps, have to buy DLC bundles and get a bunch of stuff you dont want, but it's fine, Overall it's fucking GREAT
Vulnerable to CVE-2018-20817
https://nvd.nist.gov/vuln/detail/CVE-2018-20817 wrote:

This story should have just ended RIGHT HERE and now we got alot of bull shite years later.
got this on sale in 2022 for PHP 600, had great times while playing notably while on call with a love interest back then. 10/10 poor losers in 2024 has this on sale so expensively outrageous PHP 1012
Such a classic COD game. I remember playing this on my 360 back when the Xbox One came out. It holds a place in my heart. 100% this game because it is just that good.
Goated COD. Peak. At its finest. Has never been the same. Just don't touch the multiplayer. That shit is dangerous.
Amazing COD game, beat the campaign twice already and it still was just as good, I would get it on a steam sale for like $20.
Standard CoD fare. New stuff and Strike Force is an interesting take on this series. Otherwise, point and shoot and don't get enraged.
its from 2014 so woke far left silliness is at a minimum (mostly confined to cut scenes) story a bit unbelievable but hey, it's a video game and at least there aren't black guys leading ww2 special ops precursor groups or female muslim women ordering muslim men around leading an arab resistance force, so it could be worse. all in all one of my favorites as far as cod goes, for whatever that's worth. one of the few still worth the buy and play , but only on special, no way i'd pay full price for it.
