dead game no updates and for some reason the developer erased everything from the game instead of letting people play the older versions

Bought this game in late 2017. Played it for 20 minutes and gave up trying to fix it to make it remotely playable. Game was stupidly broken and shouldn't even have been available to purchase, the fact that this developer was charging people money for that shit was disgusting.

However, the game looked intriguing, so I uninstalled it and decided to check it out later.
It's now mid-March 2019... And the game has not improved in any way whatsoever. I just reinstalled it to try it out, excitedly, and I was immensely disappointed by how the game performs. Nothing has changed. The game is unplayable - in fact, I wouldn't even call it a 'game'. It is an underdeveloped series of infuriating screen overlap bugs and poorly designed menus. That's it.

I managed to struggle my way through the menus and got into a car. I plugged in my xbox controller and... nothing. The wheels turned left to right, but nothing else was happening. I went into the controller settings and realised I had to start the car - fair enough. I pressed the mapped button... Nothing. I went back into settings, and tried to remap the button - and I couldn't. The game thinks that every single input is already being used and therefore doesn't allow you to change any controls at all. I spent an hour online trying to find a fix for this, and all I found were forums and discussion threads about how this has been an issue for 4 months now and that the game is dead.

TL;DR Don't buy this heap. It shouldn't even be on Steam, let alone in exchange for MONEY. It's more broken now than when I bought it a year and a half ago, has LESS content than it did back then, and is broken and unplayable - and that is not an over-exaggeration. The controls literally don't work.

Ok (Please read the full review, it's as honest as I can make it. but if you would rather have the TL:DR version, scroll to the final paragraph, if that is still too long, read the very final sentence at the bottom).

I've owned this game for a fairly long while now. Initially, although limited, it was fun to mess about with the then current build in sandbox mode. It had a few cars, a respectable amount of customisation, but that was it. No progression, no story, it was purely a test platform. Which made me ask myself, why is something this far from completion on Steam? Why was it (at the time if I remember correctly) almost if not over £20?

Alas. I had a gut feeling this game would get somewhere. Eventually. To date, updates have been very far apart and random: Sometimes adding content, sometimes removing content. In fact, in its current state, the game has LESS content than when I first started playing it. There have been massive improvements to graphics and physics, but at the cost of content. I only really jump on every once in a while when a rare news bulletin or update pops up for this game. Even after the promised regular updates (of which, only the first happened, then went silent).

Now, I understand the developer has had a lot of financial difficulty (or so he claims, but I'm choosing to believe them), which makes game development hard. I get that, but recently, the developer has also told us they have a small team working on the game. Now, if this was the case, how come we are not seeing any real progress toward the completion of the game? which apparently, is the end of 2019! I really don't want to doubt it, but in some ways, after all this time maybe it's better just to perfect the game and release it later, rather than rushing it to release. Again, I understand the developer has been open with the community about their problems, which is admirable. However, launching a game on steam for people to spend their hard-earned money on (especially if you bought it before the recent price drop) which is:
A) Does not currently include any of the content in the pictures on the store page (Yet)
B) Is very unfinished (only 1 car with around 50% of the customisation options implemented and a tiny map to test it on)
C) May not even get to full release if you look back at the track record so far.

HOWEVER. I really really want this game to exceed all expectations, rise from where it is now and to be a shining example to car games, especially car games with modification options. I mean, what other games exist that allow you to choose your brake, gearbox and windshield fluid? :) Which leads me on to my (VERY HARD) decision on whether or not I could recommend this game. This review is based on the current build at time of writing (13/3/19), and I am going to have to say no, as despite the potential this game has, it simply doesn't deliver at its current state. I am more than happy to change my review when I feel the game is at a point it is worth buying, but until then, I'm just going to be honest with how the game is vs the expectations surrounding it. I do have some faith in the developer, we've all been had tough times, but I think it was a ballsy move to launch this game into early access in a state that I would not even class as an Alpha build.

UPDATE 17/04/2024: Scam. Just get Apex Point. It's literally the same game but with actual development.

After owning this game for quite some time, I felt like I should throw in my 2 cents.

The "game" has close to no features as of the date of releasing this review. The only thing you can do is drive around a tiny map that's supposed to look like a town. Three events that don't work, and a garage that is accessible, but let's face it, there's not much you can do in that field either.

Before getting into the customization, I'd like to tell you first that the UI in the garage is quite "meh". It doesn't look like anything special, really.

The customization is rough. Half of the parts you'd like to fit are shown as an option, but when you want to access certain parts, you quickly realize there's nothing to fit in from that selected part category.
Another aspect of the car customization is making your own liveries, but that feature is not accessible in the current build.

What about the cars? One, just one. The only thing you can drive is a Skyline R34 GT-R. In the previous builds, we could drive the 180SX, as well as a Golf V, and probably something else.

Physics? Good enough. The car feels heavy, bit tough to control at times, but you'll get used to it.

Graphics? Pretty average for a "fresh" title like this one.

As of now, buying this product wouldn't be the best choice for most, but don't forget that the whole dev team behind this game consists of only one guy. Just a stranger making a game in the US, so give the man a break, economy's tough, so are other aspects of life.

Would I recommend this game as of now? Sadly, I wouldn't, unless you really want to support the dev. That's up to you.

I'm uninstalling this until it actually becomes a game, instead of a waste of my hard drive space. Not interested in the dev's repetitive story-telling of why the game isn't going where it should be.

LMAO this game's died twice now I guess. I keep the game in my library for laughs from the news for this game.

Great game love it 10/10 sad to see it go hope it comes back again, best of luck in your future the game has so much potential to become the new R Factor,Assetto Corsa or Forza and i hope the game blows up and brings the motivation to make the better than it allredy is

Well its a game, are the physics there yet.. Well not quite. But what about the customization? Bang on, couldnt be more impressed. Graphics and you ask?! Well the cars themselves look great tire smoke is good enviroment is ehh but im sure its not far behind. Optimization, I hope you have lots of fans. Its not great but it can only get better.


I got this game way back in the day with the hopes and dreams of it being a forza horizion with extended need for speed coustimaziton options that I've always dreamed of. I would say get in on this game early but I'm just not sure if its going to be great or turn into an deserted game like spin tires, full of potention but given up on too soon. Apparently the game is going through a rewrite my hopes are high. I truly hope the Dev hunkers down and gets it right and basks in the glory of being the creator somthing everyone enjoys playing. This game is gleeming with potential but is the exacuation and motivation there... I dont know, only time will tell.

For now thumbs up for what it can be and what he says hes working on.

Its an amazing game with so much potential but the game needs better optimization. I have top of the line computer and it starts with 600fps goes down to 20 then 12 then sits at 3. I have to then restart the game to get the frames back.. I love this game and I think it would do very good when it gets better optimization.

People need to stop thinking game developement happpens over night, most of you are just impatient. This game has a lot of potential and is far from abandoned. The developer still regularly works on the game and is adding features all the time. Due to some personal issues some updates have been delayed although the game isn't abondoned. Further more, its an early access game and leaving bad reviews because the game isn't fullly developed is just stupid. What did you expect? Before you bought the game you knew it was in early access and not fully developed. Other than that, the game is fun even in it's current state and it will be getting a lot better within these next months. The physics and the way the cars work/drive are pretty good and will be getting better. The developer will also be releasing mod support allowing for the game to progress a lot more due to the help of the community. Great game, can't wait to see it grow. Just remember the game was released for early access so you can help support it grow, so you can find those bugs and get them fixed. Not so you can try to run it once and it doesnt work and go and leave a bad review, if you genuinely like the game and see potential in it than you'll help out, rather than just complain.

Amazing game with lots of potential, but enjoyable as f as is. Great customization features and can't wait for the multiplaIyer. BUT, after the update it only runs at 3fps, THREE FPS, after we get into the garage and coming back to the streets.

but hey, it's an early access.

however if you enjoy just drifting around an empty map without end for hours listening to a perfect soundtrack then this game is most likely for you.

I really like this game, to be honest; it isn't to much to do, but i now for a fact that it will get better.. so don't hesitate with buying the game! you wont regret! understandable have a nice day.

I have played for over 30 hours now and have not seen one bug had a few crashis but that's it. The game is very fun but might get old for some of you quick as there is just a base amount of conect the game is still being worked on this is the frist release of it and it looks great from the map to the skybox evein the flames are on point and with more on the way it is in my opinoin worth the money as this is going to be one of the greates racing games the PC has seen with this gameplay style. you can swap engine's put body kits on we will soon get wide body kits for cars. more cars are on the way and we have had to wait for the rest of the car becuase they are missing a few things witch I think show's of much effort Nikko puts into his work and dosent want to give us half ass work. This game is being made by one guys as of right now and It looks like we are just getting ready for the trip he's gonna take us on. 9.7/10 From me and I hope to see you guys in the mountian's when there added.

This game is funny and have a lot of potensial.

Pros: You can customize your car however you want.
Great choice of cars and engines.
Good sounds.

Cons: Can't run down signs and traffic lights.
Texture glitches with the Garage and Shop.
Not the greatest texture, but this is early access :)

The game is hard to get the hang of but once you learn how to tune your car properly and learn to drift OMG this game is hella fun, The game has amazing music with the likes of Night Lovell and others and it makes the whole experiance that much more pleasing. I hope the devs keep updating this game and just putting everything they have in it and it will quickly become one of the best open world car games MADE.

a few things id like to see if the devs are listening
- better lighting (turns my black car kinda purple and wheels super bright during day)
-driver customization (just as simple as maybe hairstyles and genders)
-less obnoxious crashing sounds( hit a sign and it just hurts the ears to be honest...not fun)

This game is the game we all wanted. It has realism in it but not that much ! The game got a big future. Dev are really serious and work hard to fix every problem of it. Good game and alot of fun ! Dont listen to some of bad reviews saying it freeze or something its now fixed !

Devil's Hike doesn't load for me. The options button doesnt select anything in the main menu (although i can use the options once i am in game). I didnt really understand what to do or how to start, perhaps a tutorial mode would help people through this. I don't recommend this product at the time, but I do hope that it gets updated and fixes a few of the problems, and I could revisit this game and review. Keep up the good work :)
So it is in early access still, and it is better than many other games at this phase, so I do look forward to what the rest of this game has to offer

This is my first review ever, I must say its early but with loads of potential to be very good, I have spent hours in another game that is like this (no names) I really enjoy it and its a pity the dev`s on that game have dropped the ball, JS could be the 1 if they take it slow fix bugs so that later they don`t build up the engine sound bug drives me crazy, the controls on keyboard are ok a bit hard with lots of key pressing, on a controller its amazing when you hit the sweet spot, the menu is a bit hard to navigate but when you figure it out it`s easy, car tuning, setup`s and customization is really good for a start, when the game start`s it should force control`s view and setup as, there is a start ignition and clutch for people to know about, there should also be automatic option for some who don`t like gears I don`t mind, the day night cycle is ok but no headlights make it a bit hard seeing at night, the roads could be a bit wider and so could the round about`s, if you play other drift games and are looking for the next challenge then JS is it, I can`t wait to see it get better and would recommend this game. I will update as it develops.



UPDATES: Sound is now fixed after the small update, I don`t have to go options and click apply to get engine sounds.

First of all guys this game is in Early access so dont complain about the bugs the came is still being worked on and will be recieving constant updates. I personally have been talking to the dev and have been playing the demo long before the games release and imo it has some of the best customization options and teams behind it. If you guys want an open world game with customization and multiplayer, with mods to come soon, AND A Better team than DSJ then look no further guys this is the game for you.
