The Isle: A World Designed to Kill You
The Isle is intended to be a gritty, open-world survival horror game. Explore vast landscapes of dense forest and open plains, traverse treacherous mountains and wade through dark swamps where horrors lurk. Hidden within are ruins that hold insight as to what came before. Through it all, keep in mind there is only one goal: survive.
There is little in the way of hand holding or ulterior precepts to alter play styles or purpose. It's kill or be killed. In the end, the only one you can trust is yourself. Over the course of development the islands and their inhabitants will radically change, ever-evolving as players themselves learn how to flourish and thrive. Your mistakes will be punished. Expect no survivors.
Massive Prehistoric Multiplayer
Become the beast within. When joining The Isle, you can play as one of dozens of unique creatures, from tiny darting herbivores like Dryosaurus to blood-thirsty giants such as T. Rex or Allosaurus (with many more still to come!) As a dinosaur, you'll be the epitome of majestic, cunning and ferocious. Use your natural abilities and senses to stay off the menu and grow into a stronger, more capable creature.
Engage with a living prehistoric ecosystem as you become either predator or prey on servers featuring up to 100+ players, all of them as hungry and dangerous as you. Form packs/herds, create nests, defend your offspring, hunt, and claim territory. A single mistake can spell your demise.
Survival or Sandbox?
The Isle's core game mode is Survival, a tense and difficult experience where you need to grow fast or die young. Dinosaurs in Survival mode progress through several life stages, starting out small and vulnerable. Use your scent ability, night vision and wits to survive long enough to grow, becoming more powerful and unlock new abilities such as nesting. Because of the time needed to develop a full character life cycle, not every creature is or will be playable in Survival, though more will be added in future updates.
However, sometimes you don't want to struggle to survive, or you don't have the time to go through a dinosaur's whole life story. And that's okay. For players who want a less intense experience, Sandbox mode lets you play an expanded roster of dinosaurs (and soon humans!). You can jump right in as an adult super predator or a peaceful giant, with no major penalties or consequences from dying. We won't judge.
A Global Community Story
The Isle features a narrative told strictly through the environment, achievable only through immense cooperation among players. Are you stranded? Can you just leave? What is AE? How did the dinosaurs get here? What is the distant call that pierces the night?
It will take the entire community to answer these mysteries and unravel the purpose to their being on The Isle, and each discovery will directly affect the future of the game's storyline.
Future Development Goals
We realize that there is a long road ahead, and a lot of work to be done to turn this into the game we want it to be. Throughout development, we will be adding a lot more to The Isle and incorporating user feedback in how we evolve the experience. Some of our planned features include:
- Playable aquatic and aerial creatures
- Even more playable dinosaurs with complete life cycles
- Two new playable factions: modern humans & the indigenous
- Evolve into advanced "strain" versions of certain dinosaurs
- Realistic dinosaur AI that uses complex behaviours
- Additional world biome types such as thick jungles
- Dynamic aerial drop-in spawn system
- Global in-game world quest
- Localization of all in-game menus & text
- Better accessibility & customization options
- Steam Achievements, Trading Cards, Emotes
- Mod support using Steam Workshop
All that and more are on our radar going forward. We started with a plan of just a mere handful of playable carnivores, but based on player demand we expanded our scope, increased that number greatly and introduced herbivorous dinosaurs as well. Listening to our community has been instrumental in guiding our process and helped to correct our mistakes, and we hope that together we can transform The Isle into the ultimate dinosaur game.

until the hacking is adressed i cannot reccomend this to anyone. the game itself is 9/10 but dying to a flying carno every day is not fun.
This game has a lot of potential, its fun, the community is great, it can be anxiety inducing and stressful. However there are some issues that I have with the game, it can be clunky, there are desync issues especially when you play some of the more delicate dinos, the ai needs some work as they tend to be pretty jerky, the jungle feel empty in terms of dinos and ai, the map can feel empty sometimes as 100 people doesnt feel like enough while at the same time the game needs optimization before servers should be increased. finally, the devs seem to be solid and working hard to make a great game but progress may seem slow for a lot of people. Still Solid 7.5/10
good game, although dont get fixated on it too much or else the wait for the updates will feel like forever
you need to be willing to put a LOT of time into this thing if you eventually want to get the hang of it, this game does not respect your time that much. you'll have to grow something for like 3 hours for like 5 minutes of actual combat you can learn from, because as of right now this is really just a pvp game. gets pretty fun when you get the hang of it though
I have over 400+ hours in this game and can say it's not worth it. This game used to be a blast when official had the Isla Spiro map. Ever since Gateway was released it has been buggy to hell and unplayable. You are constantly lost, starving, or falling off a cliff. Water is bugged out with black boxes so you can't enjoy playing crocs. Music and ambiance just bug out constantly when walking around. The AI are broken as ever. Rubberbanding is an issue. Screen tearing is an issue. It's a game with A LOT of bugs, and it's been like this for 2 YEARS. Nothing has been fixed and it seems devs just don't care, they don't listen to their community. Which is sad cause I used to love this game. Seems like they tackled a project too hard for them to handle and just left it to rot.
Oh the hackers, don't get me started on the hackers in this game.
The mechanics in this game used to be so unique compared to POT, that's why this game was so amazing, it used to feel so realistic and I loved that. Now its just unbearable and a headache to boot up. Well... POT has been fun for me at least.
Would I recommend this game? Absolutely not, not until the devs decide to do something with their game again. I'd keep posted with their discord and maybe one day they'll update their game. Almost 10 years in Early access with hardly any improvements? Not good.
Game is riddled with hackers, has been since the release of Evrima. The devs have made no effort to resolve the issue with foreign code being run in the game for self-benefit of the user, there is no moderation on official servers and there is no type of ticket system in place to assist the player base with their lost time that they invested into the game if they die to a bug, hackers, or their player file is just bugged out of the system. All of these losses on account of the developers not wanting to fix the main issue in the game which is the exploitation of the fragile anti-hacking system (if one even exists) implemented on the game. Any sort of cries for help on the hackers that are bombarding the official servers currently fall on deaf ears and ruin the realism and immersion of the game, which The Isle is allegedly known for. However, they have made good progress on releasing new playables and expansion on their AI system. The game is currently in an unplayable state due to the influx of hackers. It breaks my heart that all of their effort of making the game more enjoyable is ruined because some players want to have an unfair advantage over others. Would not recommend playing on officials unless you have hacks of your own or plan on playing a gimmick playable that takes an hour to grow.
Not enough official servers, they are always full. Nothing to do once you reach adult other than PvP which then pushes a meta while some dinos are completely useless. Nesting is just a big no, nobody got time for that in a PvP game. Hackers run in bulk wasting the time of others playing legit; flying gators, invulnerability, and long ranged melee. Sit in queue, take a few hours to become an adult, die, repeat.
This game fucking sucks. I have tried so hard to enjoy this game but holy shit the herbs are so fucking overpowered it makes the game unfun. I spend hours getting full grown and meet up with 4-6 homies of the same species and we cant even kill a fucking 70% dib. Like i landed 15+ bites as a full grown carno and this mf isnt fazed at all. The idea of this game is amazing and ive had a lot of fun playing it but will no longer play it until the devs stop dick riding herbavores
Its a realy cool game But I would be cool to have some sort of tutorial sinse it took me weeks to figure all of the Mechanics out
Well that was the most atmospheric nothing I've gotten to do in a while.
The amount of fun you have with The Isle is entirely dependent on how many people you meet. And given that there are 100 people to a server you'd be surprised how many people you DON'T run into. Even then, the standard gameplay loop revolves around wandering around aimlessly looking for food/other players that you might go HOURS without seeing, which more often than not means instant death if you're playing a carnivore.
The most fun I've had with The Isle was playing as that prehistoric penguin thing (Beipiaosaurus) and making friends with the select few Crocs that didn't decide to kill me on sight.
Definitely a game that's more fun to watch than to play. Apparently the balancing is horrendous, but I didn't get involved enough in PVP to discover that for myself.
There are definitely better Dinosaur games out there.
This game has potential to be one of the greatest games ever made. But the current devs and admin think for some reason that mixed packing isnt a form of cheating and immersion destruction. They welcome it for all of the socially challenged people to have some kind of a disney movie experience on the official servers, and it destroys the game. The devs and admins need to stop making it their personal lives to sit in the discord and chat with these people and just make a good game that isnt broken for regular and actual gamers, not people searching for a life and friends of the same ilk caught in the same situation socially. Living in a dino game at their computers, and destroying it for the gamers.
cant even play this game because its such trash. I wish i was kidding when i say i am unable to run this game because of errors. The help is not user friendly whatsoever on the official discord. do not recommend
I'd like to start by saying this; Evrima is a great version of this game, it's fairly in-depth and there are a lot of niche things to learn. The developers are fairly slow to update as it seems like a very small percentage of the dev team actually work on the game, with each update they implement game altering bugs, as of the recent Maiasaura update, a bug where the Pterodactylus (small birds) attack fish the moment a Pteranodon picks it up, often resulting in newborn Pt's being absolutely sniped out of the sky or causing them to starve to death. Along with bugs like eating certain plants causes you to have to rejoin the server, being unable to safe-log, which results in you being stuck in a large queue and possibly die to a newborn Beipi. Some of the community is great, some of it isn't. That's just how communities will be.
BUT, there is a serious cheater infestation in the official servers and they have a very small unpaid team (who have jobs and lives outside of the game) that handle it, you don't get the 5+ hours of your life that you spent growing a dino back, as they aren't allowed to give you it back, even if you have solid undeniable evidence. 9/10 of the administrators seem to make little to no effort to engage with reports, and by the time they get around to doing anything about it, the cheaters have murdered half of the server and gone to bed.
With all of that said, I do not recommend the game in it's current state of cheater management.
Spending four and a half hours growing Dino only to have it get stuck in a hole is soul crushing enough, but being forced to sit there and starve for and hour is the salt in the wound.
this game is so fucking bad it baffles me the game itself to fucking dark the ai doesnt work the interaction doesnt work half the time causing me to die from starving and half of the food options literally dont exist for baby pteras etc. this game is not worth buying or playing until these issues are fixed. and if they dont intend to fix it then the game should cost what its worth. nothing. dont buy 0 star rating
Starve to death simulator. Trash. Good thing by the time you realize the AI in this game is non existent and you wont be able to grow to adult, and all the other adults are sustaining themselves off of killing you or eating your starved corpse the 2 hours are up and the company gets to keep your money.
Another thing it doesn't tell you, is the legacy game is the game you get when you just boot up the game. This is the unsupported version of the game. It mostly has chinese servers with fake playercounts. These servers are there to steal your information. DO NOT JOIN THEM.
Buggy disjointed mess full of cheaters, feels like there's a total of 3 people working on the game with the state it's in and the time it's been out. Their idea of good graphics is 100,000,000 bushes and foliage, the sound of rain will drown out literally all other sounds and will go on for hours, the sun is more like an old closet lightbulb that's been going out for years and flickers between nonexistent and glaring, their idea of good gameplay is hours of a walking(starving) simulator all for no growth and for it to be ended by hackers in the blink of an eye or getting bugged into rocks with a laughable attempt at an unstuck command. Speaking of starving, the time it takes to starve makes 0 sense with how long the days and nights are, you will starve to death in less than a full day/night cycle. Nobody knows what a hitbox looks like in this game. It's a bait and switch early access title held up by youtubers and reviewers seemingly making their own fun but at the end of the day it's just their creativity and imagination and it has nothing to do with the actual gameplay itself. 2/10
Edit: Maybe I was a little mad when I wrote this lmao. I'll add ways they can improve the game, aka fix the game, aka develop.
1. Actually fix the game breaking bugs your community has been yelling at you about for literal years.
2. Please release updates and content in a timely manner, this is wildly unprofessional for a studio with a single game in early access for almost a decade.
3. Please get a better anti-cheat system/detection/actually hire people who can monitor and moderate.
4. Fix the lighting, there is 0 reason animals that can see in the dark should be blind during not even a full sunset.
5. Please EQ your sounds for the love of god the rain is deafening.
6. If your game is touting itself as a survival simulator please make the survival part not artificially difficult with no AI spawns, a massive map with barely any discernible landmarks, insane growth times, insane starve times, insane sickness times, and the clunkiest combat known to mankind.
I wholeheartedly do not recommend this and regret my purchase.
Too many cheaters and hackers now. Mods don't care and community on discord will grief you for trying to report.
I think you all know by now, the game by itself is mediocre at best due to it's large but empty map, limited and repetitive game mechanics, a complete lack of goals for the player apart from the first few stages of growth for the dinosaur which can be accomplished within the first hour and frustrating game-play caused by factors such as your dinosaurs whole leg breaking because it missed a step and slow regeneration of stamina for many different types of dinosaurs causing the player to have to walk for most of the game. The biggest issue is the community which for the most part is dominated by cliques of herbivores whose overpopulation makes it extremely difficult to play as a carnivore and who have mostly abandoned genuine forms of competition so that they can mainly socialise through the games chat or bully carnivores who tried to play the game normally. Although this is at no fault of their own, as this is obviously caused by the many flaws of the game itself listed above which overall make the game mundane and unfulfilling to play, forcing the remaining players to completely change the way the game is played.
I don't feel like typing it all out, so just read Otirik's and PrisonYardHero's reviews. They said everything I wanted to say. This game has great potential, and what's there is good, but it lacks the polish and maintainence of proper focus and leadership. The game is cool, but it doesn't function properly, and it's glaringly obvious. It's also obvious that a lot of love has been put into what's there. I have hopes that this game will one day be finished, but it doesn't look like that will be any time soon. That said, I got this game on sale, and it's base price wasn't high, either. All-in-all, I'd say it was worth the money. Only play this game if you're obsessed with dinosaurs and can make your own fun. I'm enjoying the game, but I think about the people I know personally and I couldn't recommend this game to them.
The Isle, the game you leave running in the background so your dino grows while you play something else. Evrima is undoubtedly better than Legacy ever was, but that doesn’t mean its flaws are excusable.
As a long time Legacy player, it's heartbreaking to see how little meaningful progress has been made over the years. If I ever won the lottery, I'd genuinely consider funding a new dev team just to finish this game. It's almost comical that, after nearly four years, we're still dealing with such an incomplete experience. The wait for promised content is painfully slow, and players are left to accept that "new additions" might arrive years after being teased. All that being said, this game is undeniably beautiful. The graphics and map design are stunning, though they're overshadowed by terrible optimisation issues and painfully small server sizes for a map this massive. If you were to ask me whether I’d recommend it, my answer would be, absolutely—in about 20-30 years when the game is actually finished(lets hope its not longer than that). For now, it’s a masterpiece stuck in development limbo and will continue to be due to incompetent devs. : )
It's like it gets worse with each update. 10/10 would uninstall again.
Absolutely the best dinosaur game I've ever looked at. If you live in a region with constant queues, like North America East, I do not recommend buying the game until they add an additional server. My general experience is to come home, wait in queue for OVER an hour, just to get in for a while. They do not offer steam server integration into steam UI, so you MUST have the game running during this time. Today I waited from 6:30 to roughly 9. 2 & a half hours. When I got to final slot, next in line to join, there was a problem with the queue and I was kicked out with an unhelpful red message. Reaching out to the administrators was met with silence and opinions that I would not be helped. I'll change this if my region gets an additional server.
Currently, this game is a lot of nothing. Ignoring all other discussions of bugs, AI spawning, and species pros and cons, there is nothing to this game. All you do is travel and eat until you die. You don't die? Congrats! You're reward is you walk for hours. That is the entire game.
I was super hyped about this game because from let's play's I saw online (faulty sources, I know) it seemed like a game that required a decent amount of strategy, learning, and you are constantly on a knife's edge of risk v reward. Kill or no? Wait to heal, or keep going? Run or hide? But the actual gameplay usually is either absolutely nothing happening FOR HOURS or insta death from off screen, dropping off a cliff you COULD NOT SEE, or straight up starving to death. You do not sense any other living creatures unless you are already on top of them. By then you are already lost or won. The entire sense of knife's edge risk v reward doesn't exist because YOU CANNOT PERCEIVE EITHER RISK OR REWARD!
Most of my game play has been horrendous because it takes SO LONG to get big, so my perspective of the world is crotch shot foliage. If any plants are about 12" tall in front of/on top of me I have NO visibility. Food exists but it is so damn hard to locate. It takes a lot of walking and HOPING you will get close enough to sniff it out. Many carnivores camp at Meat Spawns to lure other prey. Cool, valid tactic, but food is so rare that you don't often have the choice to skip eating for a safer bet later, you are dying from starvation NOW. Also when you are small, you cannot even SEE the food until you are on top of it, so you aren't likely able to scope it out before swooping in.
The game has SO much potential, but there is so much of this game that feels like getting sucker punched. I am familiar with games that require you to figure it out, but when I cannot see/hear/find anything until it is too late, I am not learning. I am just getting rug pulled.
this game is unpolished, has janky combat and the worst of them all; shit servers, its just a lot of chinese people flooded for me and when i try to find an official server it just says no servers found. dont spend your money on this until its fixed
What a mess. Probably a game in there somewhere. When you buy the game, it default launches you into a legacy version of the game. Basically a dead game.
You need to go into beta and set launch as evrima. And then hope that it launches and doesn't crash. Almost takes 2 hours to figure out how to launch the game properly and even then not consistent. Also- this game seems to have a higher player count than every other game on the planet. The twist is it's all Chinese bot farms, it's insane how many chinese servers there are. We are talking in the thousands all with max player counts.
I wish I had given this a chance back when it was released, looks like it would have been fun. There's only a tiny community left and only a couple of servers with a few people each.
Average day in the isle :
-Start as an Herrerasaurus because jumpy boi is fun
-Meet two nice grown Heras and enjoy some nasty one taps
-Climb up a tree with your newfound buddies, fatfinger your attack button and accidentally murder your friend
-Jump off the tree while doing that
-break your leg and bleed out because of a random troodon bite
10/10 would recommend
I can't recommend this game strictly due to the lack of servers. There is twenty-seven total servers on The Isle Evrima, and only a few of those servers are servers for your region. All of them are full 24/7 with over a 50 person queue. I'm not waiting however long to play the game because of lack of server space. If you are selling copies of your game, upgrade the servers so those people can play it.
Extreme lack of care from the developers. Impossible to find food most times. Most servers are just dinosaur death matches filled with people more braindead than actual coma patients. Gatekeeping nonsense community who will insist you're doing something wrong when all you're doing is everything they tell you to do to make the game playable.
It's shit. Stay the fuck away.
I feel like this game is more lia walking simulator i playing like 2 hours and i feel sleep first nothing of action and being a carnivory is a life of suffering becaus you never gonna find food. hervivores have a life more easy but is boring.
Unfortunately this game has a very high barrier to entry at the moment - I spent 40 minutes running around sniffing in the dark while people raged at each other in global chat over PVP only to find out from Youtube (not the people in global) I needed to go out my way and specifically download a beta branch for the game to get the latest version and I had been playing legacy (not sure why this is the default download then).
Not only did both versions lack any tutorial or guidance outside of "sniff" and "turn on night vision", even with a Youtube video for help I didn't run into a single other player in my time played, nor ate anything, nor did anything at all. There are a bunch of symbols that appear on your compass but no guidance for them. Even the Youtube video suggested copying your location and opening a web browser map to work out where to go.
Can't decide if I'll refund or hold onto this until it hits release yet, because in theory there's a good dino game here.
Unfortunately, after years of playing the Isle, I can definitely say this game is dead and will never return.
The current dev team, along with dondi, made several bad decisions in a row and executed them terribly.
We have been in development for Evrima for almost 5 years.
There are half the amount of playable dinosaurs, it's been said by the Dev team that they aren't going to be adding the most popular dinosaurs, even though the community wants to play them. They put way too much focus and effort into creating multiple skin designs and polishing up pots and pans that sit on stoves in a building made in theory for a human-playable character that has never been even close to being started on and it will continue that way for several more years until they go bankrupt.
They've made many improvments to the second version of the game, and many parts are lacking from the first. However, their glacial game content devlopment speed, terrible behavior by the Fuhrer in charge, kitten, who has and had a long history of being the type of person who is incredibly hateful and rude to anyone that disagrees with anything she says, and then turns around and acts like peace-to-all type individual.
Not to try and single that specific person out, but it highlights issues on why this game has taken such a massive hit and continues. They started the downfall with a rugpull, telling everyone that they were going to be completely remaking the game. Then, came a pretty shitty start to development and transparency on progress. Then, a rather unfortunate PR hit when a dev was alleged to be involved in sexually explicit actions with minors. Then, the DEI program rolled in and completely ruined the image of the company with terrible communication and goals, coupled with that freak Dondi flexing all the money he made on the initial hype of the game, only to slowly, and then completely disappear from involvement with the game or team at all.
In short, this game is not what it used to be, that had a really fantastic community of players.
It's been reduced into a glacially moving hobby-project of a solo walking simulator.
My advice, ask the players what they want, and do what they want.
Nobody wants to play a game where you have to choose between 8 small dinosaurs and run around in a terribly optimized world, alone, because there is no longer a great interest in this game due to the glaringly obvious sentiment that the devs do not care what the players and customers think.
I'm not sure where the game is. There's no food anywhere, nothing visible on the map to check out, you can sniff for things with Q but it doesn't appear to actually do anything. Looked fun on youtube, but not fun to play
The game has a fantastic concept but with unbelievably poor development. The game devs constantly add patches that seem to fix absolutely nothing and then they add more content before fixing anything which only makes the game less playable. Again fantastic concept of a game but absolute garbage output from the dev team. Go play beasts of bermuda.
The Game is great but to grow fully needs alot of time and its very annoying and in evrima its so stupid that the fish in the water can eat you when your small enough I died so many times because i wanted to cross a river and a damn fish ate me and in evrima there should be more space for people 100 places isnt enough
After eyeing this game for about a year and watching multiple positive reviews on youtube, I finally decided to purchase the game and try it out for myself. Within the first 10 minutes of "playing" the game, I was thinking about getting a refund.
The first experience:
Immediately after first opening the game I was met with an empty server list. Why? After 10 minutes of research and troubleshooting I discovered that there was a legacy version of the game, heavily outdated and with no official servers. The devs decided that this is the perfect version to download for a new player. After then downloadig the actual version and now already having wasted 30 minutes of playtime, I could finally play.
First actual gameplay:
After entering the first server I was running at 3fps on an rtx 3060 and was barely able to fight myself through the dino creator. I finally was able to enter the graphic settings only to find out the game had set my resolution to 3840 x 2160. After setting it to my native resolution, finally, I could play. Or so I thought. Suddenly every texture was a grey placeholder texture and after doing 10 minutes of troubleshooting I restarted the game and FINALLY. I could actually play.
Actual gameplay:
The gameplay in this game is rather lackluster and lacks sense of fulfillment. There are no quests, no unlockable dinosaurs, just pure survival which gets tiring very quickly. There is no actual reason behind grinding the game. 99% of gameplay is running around, looking for scaps or trying to find an ai to kill. The other 1% is being killed by other players. If you want a walking simulator with a sprinkle of torture, this is the perfect game for you.
I'm glad to say that I was able to get a refund for this dumpsterfire. If this was an early access game I would give it another chance, but for a game thats almost 10 years old now? No. Don't pay 20$ for a troubleshooting simulator.
I enjoyed playing the game a lot, specially with friends. Its hard to get started but you will get used to it fast.
Sadly I will have to give it a negative review for now... The game has many hackers, and glitches that can be avoided but only if your lucky.
The thing I hate most about this game is the fact that there is no difference between a new player and an old player, there is no ''experience'' system were you can gain a bigger level. And its really annoying that some dinosaurs take ''years'' to fully grow, just for them to get killed by a super sonic flying dinosaur hacker, and those hours you spend in game gain you nothing. Its just that feeling where your dead inside, spending hours and hours for nothing. I stopped playing the game until some sort of in game currency or experience feature gets added, I wont waste my life.
While I like the game, I don't recommend it for other people. The only silver lining is; it's the only decent dinosaur survival game out there right now. Literally the only thing holding this game's player base together is the fact they're all dino fans. Not the game-play, map, 'story', or objectives. It's really not a very fun game, and you'd find the same quality with animal survival games on roblox for a tenth of the price.
Im 33 years old with mild autism aspergers & add I LOVE THE ISLE GAME its fun and enjoyable but i wish there was more dinos to play as along with more maps to explore. Its near christmas 2024 and there no new updates availabe for me. Please hurry so i can have more fun when playing my isle game.
Thank You Very Much,
Sincerely Gary DuBois
I'm a huge fan of Path of Titans and tried The Isle because I heard that it was similar in style. On first impression the game is absolutely gorgeous and has great atmosphere, but isn't really anything more than a "walk until you die" game. You can't spawn with friends either, so don't expect to be playing this with friends. Food is nearly impossible to find, I had an excruciatingly hard time finding plants, AI or even players to eat. Water seems to be bugged out too as I couldn't drink and dehydrated to death multiple times. I hope this game gets fixed eventually, but right now there's FAR better dinosaur games out there that are actually worth the money.
Had a lot of good times on legacy but sadly evrima is garbage, 4 years still no apex added, boring and lifeless. Never have I seen a more incompetent dev team.
Review will be subject to change if the main dev (dondi) stops smoking m3th and properly addresses his game.
The current ecosystem of evrima is horrible. Absolutely horrible. Huge problems leading to an endless branching supply of issues.
-Herbivores completely dominate the game. We have 3(4?) honorary apex herbivores right now and NO apex carnivores.
-99% of the people who play herbivore pick from those top dinos.
-Most herbivore players also run in packs and rarely are solo.
-Carnivore players live off of other carnivores because the idea of "hunting" those unrivaled herbivores is laughable at best and a meme at worst.
-Herbs never die now because carnivores stopped hunting them, which leads to horrible herb overpopulation, which leads to bored herbs, which leads to bored serial killer herb players, which leads to an absolute slaughter of every carnivore on the map who was unlucky enough to stumble upon a herd of a dozen diablos/ stegos etc.
"Oh hey, you know about the disgusting herbivore overpopulation and dominance issues? I know how to fix it!"
"How do we fix it?"
"Lets add another large herbivore and nerf carnos weight!"
"Splendid idea!"
99% of my deaths in the past few months of evrima were failed hunts of other carnivores or far more often getting absolutely molested by swarms of tenons or stegos. I stopped chasing herbs a long time ago and it's exceedingly rare now to find herb corpses from carnivore hunts.
Other issues:
-Horrible bugs
-Terrible optimization
-Maps far too large for playercounts
-Toxic and bored playerbase
-No quality of life improvements or mini tasks to take the edge off of this glorified walking simulator
-None of the updates intending to "fix" previous issues have actually worked because dondi refuses to listen to his playerbase
-Instead of fixing broken and unplayable dinos they just keep adding meme shit no one asked for and completely neglect errors in judgement
One of the best dinosaur games on Steam, arguably in the world, features cool mechanics and amazing graphics, but you should expect occasional floating trees, rocks, or buggy AI.

Well, game has some bugs and it is very hard to report a bug so I have to create review....
In my case game stopped to save properly out logged dinos it means I can't grow them in another session because game ask me to create new one.
At the end it means game for me is pointless at this moment and I can't report a bug due to build in game button.
A game created by subhuman troglodytes with empty promises and absolutely nothing to show. Years of development and barely anything as changed. pile of complete worthless dogshit. May the devs burn in the nine circles of hell
After a decade, you would imagine that they had ironed out most of the game breaking flaws. They haven't, and it doesn't even appear that they've tried. There are many things I like about this game and not a single one of them can overshadow the fact that their servers reset and destroy all your progress, their spawn rates on food in the form of NPC animals is fundamentally broken resulting in most playthroughs ending in starving to death, combat is janky at best, it glitches out constantly, etc. You wouldn't be able to convince me they plan on finishing this game. Honestly, I don't know what they're doing but it isn't anything to do with these issues.
first time playing, my first dino i grinded out to 100% full grown. as soon as i put in my last mutation and exited the stats page, i got merked by a massive salt water crocodile. best welcoming experience i could have had. 10/10
