I remember seeing this on Greenlight years ago and thinking it looked interesting. Today I gave it a try and... ooh boi.

Where do I begin? How about the sound design, it's completely borked. Sounds are horribly unbalanced, with the first level having constant loud 'Pew Pew' sounds.
The touted voice acting is a joke, just a couple of muffled voices speaking in broken english. Guys. There's a site called 'Fiverr', you can get cheap professional sounding voice actors from there for cheap.
|Controls
The Controls cannot be rebound to other keys. To turn on the flashlight you press 'T'. Not 'F'. T!? Who the fuck thinks to use T for a flashlight, this is a simple convention that was established in Half Life over 20 years ago, how do you mess that up? And what's the point of having an optional flashlight? Everything is fuccin dark, why not just have it on by default? Or properly light your levels, that would help!
What F does do is swap weapons you can pick up. But it doesn't do it automatically, no! You have to hold F and walk into the weapon, an half the time it didn't bloody work anyway.
Player moves slow and it feels like you're battling the heavy physics of the character, you feel like you're battling the game for control of that character and that ain't fun.
|Interface
The ammo counter for some guns never count down to zero. Sometimes the game will tell me theres a bullet in the magazine yet never fire.
Actually, when I booted this up for the first time, my cursor was out of sync with the menu, so I had to click to the right of a button to use it. A reset actually fixed this, but it was a dire first impression.
|Experience
Most of the weapons feel the same. The aforementioned poor sound design makes nothing stand out. The only weapons worth a damn are the rapid fire weapons.
When you reset a level, your weapons get swapped out for no reason, have fun messing around trying to figure out what your current inventory does.
The enemies are all abstract cube shapes but they do nothing other than waddle around while you shoot them
Sometimes the frame rate drops for no reason, it's really distracting.
|Level Design
It's all corridors. It's sooooo dull. When I saw the trailer to this I thought it would be like an arena shooter, but nope. Just walking around trying to figure out where to go while nondescript enemies shoot at you.

|Verdict
It's bad, buy something else

I'm enjoying this mostly for its visual look but its gameplay is very basic and will likely only appeal to the most diehard of FPS fans. The game's strange save system and a glitch preventing me from progressing on level 3 are why I don't recommend the game overall, despite enjoying the game quite a bit.

Perfect Plan has a story with full voice-acting, albeit voice acting in English with heavy accents and a fair amount of the dialog can come off over the top / unintentionally (?) funny. That being said, it's nice that there is effort being put in to tell a story, with cutscenes and dialog. The cutscenes, however, are very simplistic consisting of little more than gates / doors opening and things being blown open. Sometimes the cutscene during dialog / opening the next path is as simple as the camera spinning around and then an explosion effect occuring somewhere.

The levels are varied and include infiltrating a shipping area and then navigating along a moving train, but your tasks will never consist of too much complexity beyond clearing rooms and walking up to various terminals to press E on them. The 3 guns you are given at the start of each level seem random. You see some variety in the guns, however beyond their rate of fire being a bit faster or slower and slight changes to the damage output there is no customization of the weapons (i.e. no attachments and you're never given the option of which 3 you begin a level with)

Annoyingly there is no UI indicator of how many bullets you have remaining in a clip. You have no skills to unlock for the main character and there is no stat leveling of any kind, just you and the base fire rates / damage outputs of the guns. The enemies have some variety including crab-like mine enemies and android / turret type enemies, but the enemies you encounter most frequently have a very simplistic "two rectangles stacked on top of one another with an optical eye on top" look to them, and if they occur as frequent as early in the game I could see it becoming repetitive.

The soundtrack to the game fluctuates wildly between hip hop esque beats to a strange, almost out-of-place relaxed feeling guitar melody (which actually becomes quite immersive and gives the game a strange light-hearted feel early on) during the opening level. The sound effects to the guns are nice and loud / laser-y though, and seeing their lighting effects as you blast at dudes is nice.

There is an unfortunate glitch halting me from progressing around the third level, and nearly the only reason I don't suggest the game right now. I encounter the glitch when I drop down a long shaft to face off against two large blue enemies covered in video screens at the bottom. They seem impossible to beat as there is no cover to get behind and their attacks do a ton of damage if they connect at all. When I inevitably die in this encounter, I am then loaded into a dark/empty play area and can move around using the mouse but nothing else... Because of this, I'm forced to reload the level from the beginning to try to hopefully clear all of the rooms until I get to the aforementioned 2 blue enemies and hope to beat them somehow.

The checkpoint system in the game is pretty unforgiving and annoying as well, with no player-determined savepoints, you're forced to retread the same areas you may have cleared previously. For example, let's say you cleared 5 of 10 rooms on your way through a level. If you die on room 6 you are then strangely thrown to the very start of the level to run from room 1 all the way to room 6 again, rather than starting right at room 6. Rooms 2-5 will be empty of all enemies you've killed, presenting no challenge (nor reasaon to go through them again, really) but you're thrown clear back to the beginning to just run through the empty areas until you reach where you haven't yet progressed for some reason.

The game lets you pick whichever chapter to begin from as well, for better or worse. I personally hate when games do this as I think it kills a lot of your sense of progression through a linear campaign, although I guess this may be a way I can experience more of the game outside of the glitched area from the first chapter.

The game includes a strange "Self Harm" button by pressing U, which I don't understand the purpose of other than maybe to trigger a checkpoint to reload should you find yourself stuck in the level somewhere??? Otherwise its inclusion seems very strange. During the brief tutorial section of the game you're told E is to interact with things and then immediately after told to press K to interact with a computer screen. The controller support for the game (for Xbox One USB controller) is very minimal with only aiming, shooting, and jumping being implemented. No reload button, no switch weapons button, no turn on/off flashlight button when compared to the Mouse and Keyboard.

Perfect Plan is a simple game that has its charm and will appeal most to diehard fans of first person shooters and neon/geometric style design. To its credit, I can't say I have played a game that has this kind of visual look. The game is very straightforward and many may find its limited budget off-putting, with levels mostly consisting of taking out enemies on your way from point A to point B, whether that just be an exit you walk through or walking up to a button and pressing E on it. The varied locales and unique graphical style are what make me enjoy this game the most, but its unfortunate checkpoint / saving seems buggy and sparse.

Its short but its quite fun. It's literally run here, shoot these, press this and go to the exit. I finished in 2 to 3 hours tops.

I finished it in a couple of hours and thats with me dying over and over again across 1 or 2 of the levels (I'll explain why). At the ending credits, there was just literally one name so i assume its made only by one guy?

I like the colours used for particle effects of the bullets. It's vibrant and it managed to be quite spectacular, I assume, if used in proper large-scale battles.

I haven't had any problems running the game, even with a shitload of enemies shooting at me and the gameplay is very smooth (it should be as its using UE4). Although, I had to tone it down a bit because I see some hit on my FPS during fights. There are literally 3 types of guns (burst, autos, and a bazooka), just differently colored.

The levels are standard running around shooting things but there are problems. The first is the bots are all marksmen from hell. They will shoot precisely at you and will NOT miss unless you move all the time. So when you are faced with a narrow hallway, and there are enemies agroed beyond the hallway, you WILL be peppered with bullets and die MULTIPLE times. There are only 2 times I got this. I remembered only the last level of the game. The enemies WILL rush you and shoot you down.

And after you die, you will respawn WAY back and the slow sprint doesn't help either. The last level, I literally had to run for 5 minutes to get from the spawn to the place I die, just to die again and hopefully I got one or two of them. Simply fix this by NOT putting narrow tight hallways. Keep it simple, and proivde some cover for the player.

Lastly, please give the players some indicator for ammo. I get the plus sign for health but what is the other one? Looks like a box with a chip below it. It turns out that's the amount of magazines you have. And if you reload even after shooting 1 bullet, it will use up all 1 magazine. You have only 30 for autos, and 12 for bursts and bazookas. If you run out of magazines (and you will), you can't get any more. That's it. You lose the game. Simply fix this by making the guns NOT use any kind of ammo. Put an indicator of how many bullets you have currently, and players can have infinite amount of ammos but need to reload once in a while. Or, you know... make enemies drop ammos? Or put ammo crates VISIBLY like you did with the health packs.

Good game but some slight problems with implementation. Fix them and it'll be better.

*update*

So I was told the game was updated and it was except now I cant even start a game. The first time I loaded it there was 2 mouse cursors so i restarted and now there was only 1 but it wouldnt go past right above the menu so I couldnt even start playing.

It seems the update has made it worse. Its not like im using odd hardware or old drivers. Im playing on an i7 5820k (6 cores), 32 gigs of ddr4 in quad channel and a GTX 1080. Why havent I just returned this yet? Cause I want to play it!

Also for the love of god let us skip the menus,,,,

*original review below*

FIrst when the game is launched it also launched steam vr and oculus home despite the fact that my vr hmd isnt hooked up and this isnt a vr game.

Also the first 2 times i tried playing it crashed when i tried to change options.

vsync does NOT work even if forced in driver cp so there is tearing constantly.

controller support would also be nice. you can aim and shoot but thats it.

Also no 4k support in a UE4 game? Come on....
