Background Story
You are a member of a newly formed paranormal investigation team whose set out to debunk ghostly stories and urban legends. Due to reports of a local legend in a small town, your team decides to investigate the fabled abandoned mansion. Unfortunately for your team, the community has not informed you of an evil spirit native to the northern forests, the Wendigo. It is likely this creature of legend is influencing the strange events around the mansion. The spirit’s legend is considered by psychiatrists to be a form of culture-bound syndrome. Early symptoms of this psychosis include the inability to feel full, violent and unpredictable behavior, the insatiable desire to eat human flesh.
Upon arriving, you and your team begin to setup for the investigation. After you finish unloading and assembling the command station you realize none of your friends have returned from preparing their areas...you must now find out what has happened to your team before their fate becomes your own...

WHY DID I EVEN PLAY THIS?! SO DARK AND NO MONSTER TILL I'M GRABBED FROM BEHIND, SURE. NO SCARES AND THE EMF DOES'NT WORK WTF
I died then the pages i mean tapes stopped appearing 10/10 i jumped at least once. Nice game just wish i hadn't died lmao.
Not a bad game for its price. A little difficult but the challenge is what keeps you playing. Overall a 7.5/10
good game
This is a good little horror.
For all the price of it it's well worth the money. It's very basic but it's well enough balanced and just the right amount of challenge that it should take you about an hour or so to complete, depending on how many times you die.
It's very straightforward - you go into a house, pick up a monster-detection device, and then it's down to you to stealth through the house, picking up 10x randomly placed audio-logs from around the house, and trying not to get caught by the monster. Each audio log needs to be picked up before the next one randomly spawns in a different location, so you have to make multiple trips around the house. Once you've got all ten you have to then escape from the house
There's a couple of complaints. First of all, there is absolutely no benefit to not having your monster detection machine equipped and visible. But you have to hold down a key (non-configurable at that) to keep it up. And for a left-handed gamer such as myself, holding an awkward key down for over an hour was an exercise in pain, and I'm sure others fare not much better. Also it's odd that they chose a Wendigo as the creature and then based the entirety of the game in a house which struck me as an odd choice of adversery.
But on flip side, surprisingly the voice acting on the tapes that you pick up is actually really good which I really wasn't expecting for such a budget game.
All in all, worth the price of admission.
worth every penny
big ole wendigos fucking up my shit man
doors freaking suck its so bad but good game for 99 cents
Wendigo is a simple and fun horror game. It's basicly a slender man game but that doesn't mean that it's bad.I would give it a 7/10.Probably an 8 if you they were more options (both for controls and graphics).
The game is about collecting tapes, while avoiding a monster inside a big mansion, the graphics are good, the lack of sounds doesnt help create the mood of a horror experience, but still does a decent job.
For it`s price, The Wendigo deliver a nice experience, nothing new, but still enjoyable.
This is way way better made than any Slender game I played mechanics and atmosphere but...!
1) The controls are just so difficult to handle i mean you can't press A when you constantly have to hold Q button..
2) Sprint is so short
3) The EMF is reading him from downstairs even though you're upstairs so you can't easily track him
4) Not all tapes are summoned from the beginning of the night but randomly in the house as you collect them..
5) From 6-7 tape you know exactly what he is doing with the poof smoke, I don't want spoil this to others but considering the other things I wrote above do I have any hope of win this?
It's too realistic and that's alright but it has to be in a way for the player to have a chance to win.. Also I was having a hard time to record on fullscreen 1440x900 resolution it was chipping the edges of the gamescreen.
I tried this 2 times already I'll upload my second try on my channel:

The Wendigo is basically Slenderman the 8 pages. Collect 10 recorders, monster becomes more aggressive with each one collected, and you try to avoid and escape. The graphics are pretty good, the house reminds me of Resident Evil 1 a ton, sounds aren't bad, monster could have a bit more punch to its sounds. Overall if you're a horror fan I'd say check it out, especially for the price.
Not sure about it? Here's some gameplay I took:

So I was tasked with writing a review on a piece of independant media for a uni assignment and I came across this game. Really enjoyed playing this! Needless to say I was not dissapointed! There were a couple of things, however, that were a bit of a turn-off, but overall I was very satisfied. A great game!
Here's the link to my full review! Let me know what you think, I'd love to hear some feedback.

Keep up the good work Warka :)
Really fun game!! I really enjoyed the whole Slender vibe I got from this, This is definitely worth a play! However I feel like 4.99 is WAY to much for this game, I would rather see this as a 0.99 cent game at most. I also found some bugs in the game where you can phase through the stairs.. Other than that this game is super fun and I hope to see more from this developer in the future!!
Here is my Let's Play of it (I didnt complete it on video because I tried to record ANOTHER video on it afterwartds, and that one got corrupted :/)

One side says I recommend this for the challenge, but my other side says I don't recommend it due to the price. You could just buy Slenderman's Shadow for the same price which has a variety of maps to challenge yourself. There's even a game that's free with almost the same difficulty as this one which is called Eyes if you were to play on hard mode. This game, however, is a challenge on a different level. Each recorder spawns one by one, you're not really given a chance to hide, and you have to think quick on your feet. Might not have much story to it in the game, but the game exempts itself by putting you up for that challenge. Disappointing end, but I was joyous of the win.

Ok so the visuals are impressive, especially considering its made by one person. The sound design is good and definitely adds to the atmosphere. You should really see for yourself because the game really is beautiful. Check the link below.

- PROS: sounds design, textures and visuals, atmosphere
- CONS: Can't really think of any
My first real horror game scare.
Never really played any horror game before, so this is my first big scare.
I was looking at the dolls in the kid's room. I turn around, the dolls are gone, and then I hear the -thing- growling and show itself in the hallway, scared the piss out of me. Got it all on video.
Anyways, game looks great. Nice and smooth, except for some frame droppage at times.
I really like this game. I think this game is worth a little more than just 5$ as the creator put. With more polish, this game could be worth like 10$

The Wendigo is a indie horror game made with the unreal engine 4. I found The Wendigo to be reminiscent of the Slenderman games a few years back in terms of gameplay. That, however, are where the similarities end. The visiuals and lighting are far beyond it's inspiration and what I am acustom to seeing for any indie project. The detail put into the play area is well done. Being a project from a single man no less makes this all the more of an accomplishment.
In the game you will be scouring a section of a mansion, looking for tape recordings while the Wendigo hunts you down. As you progress in your objective the Wendigo gains abilities that scale in power the closer you come to freedom, all to bring about your untimely demise. This makes the game a good challenge that will leave you shouting in horror and coming back for more.
For the humble five dollar price tag you can't really go wrong on this one, there have been many cases where I've paid more for less.
On a side note, unrelated to the game itself; if you are ever interested in game development the creator of the Wendigo does live stream his projects. If that sort of thing intersts you, head on over to https://www.twitch.tv/warka101
Collect tapes, while avoiding a monster inside a big mansion. That is basicly what this game is. Graphics are ok, I do wish sounds were a bit more present over all, cause that is to me what does a good horror game :), but over all its pretty good, pretty basic but not too bad, and for the price id recommend it.
Check out some gameplay if that helps

I bought this game after watching the twitch stream of its development by one guy with some help from the chat group in 40+ days. They've got a lot of work ahead of them but I'm confident they'll refine this into a unique experience. You'll probably hear all the hate from others about "slenderman clone in a house", "seen those assets", etc. but he is a aware of these critiques, very open to suggestions, and actively working to address them. Join if you want to just watch or offer suggestions https://www.twitch.tv/warka101
It's a good short replayable horror/panic game with a Wendigo(monster) whose powers evolve as you pick up tape recorders. Simple game of tag\find the recorders but it's not so easy to get out of the house. An interesting door opening mechanic allows you to section off areas of the house until the Wendigo gains the ability to open doors and eventually teleport. It has alot of promise if it's updated regularly and I'd love to try it in multiplayer and VR. I've had a few moments laughing at the AI but 10 seconds later I'm dead, kinda like tempting something you think can't get to you but then you're suprised when you die. It's a complete product that I'm hopeful it will evolve as the developers pocket fills with funding.
