Childhood
I honestly love this game, i would love it more if the game worked as it should, it is sad that i cant play my childhood game to the fullest.
Please FIX THIS GAME!!
The game is not working for absolutely no reason, when i start playing it shows every single hub thing in the game, if someone knows how to fix it, let me know.
Game from my childhood <3
Tequila Zombies 3 is a free Adobe Flash/AIR browser game/web app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a fully fledged PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy Russian web developers. While you can play this for free in a web browser, you have to pay money to play it on Steam. Makes sense, doesn't it? Otherwise how will Russian shovelware pushers get your money for their trash?
And this is bad... make no mistake, it's clunky and unpolished, barely works as a game. If you should be unfortunate to try this (well, it's free as a browser game so go right ahead if you want to), you'll find it's a lazy, badly made arcade brawler/shooter with a south-of-the-border Zombie theme... really it doesn't matter. The most surprising thing about this is that it's not an asset flip. I'm just saying that because Valve says we're supposed to say what we liked about a game, and that's the closest I'll get to this trashheap.
From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard.
There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision.
The game features simple, cartoony 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort mobile apps (and uh, Flash games). 3D graphics programming does require a degree of skill and competence and unfortunately not all developers have the budget or talent to deliver this, despite 3D graphics cards hitting the mainstream in the 1990's. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing.
The controls and game handling are notably very clunky, sluggish and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one.
The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts.
Comically, the game was written in Adobe Flash/AIR (I'm not making this up). Talk about not using the right tools for the job. Might as well try to bake a cake with a screwdriver. The extremely poor choice of game engine here is a major contributing factor to the defects with the game.
These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game.
You don't have to take my word about how bad the game is, we can measure the interest in a game by how much people bothered to play it. Tequila Zombies 3 has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game absolutely failed to capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for killing two enemies, trivial to achieve, but less than 9 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. That's a tiny, tiny proportion of gamers who even bothered with this. Ouch.
Reviewing SteamDB to check how popular this game was with players reveals a surprise... there's a very healthy spike in player counts for the game. But this only happened once, and isn't consistent with the achievement stats, that show less than 9 percent of players bothered playing the game for any reasonable amount of time. How is it possible for this game to have so many concurrent players who didn't bother engaging with this game? Trading cards. People will use card idling software to collect the cards and sell them, but this won't trigger any achievements in-game.
That tells us people only really bought this game for trading cards, and that's a damning indictment of the woeful quality. A closer look at the numbers shows the game just has a couple of players every week running up the game and idling it for cards, then deleting it. We must ask how it benefits gamers for there to be so many games like this, with little merit as a serious game, that only generate sales from people idling and selling the trading cards.
So, should you buy this game?
Once more we see greedy devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $3 USD, but it's free to play on the web. Web developers must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free browser game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend.
Who do they think we are?
Did read that people had some issues with the game, for me problems were minor, had a few times that the game tripped when bossfight was starting, so had to restart the game at that point, but the game has checkpoints at every stage in the level so no problems on that front.
Game is a little but entertaining 2D shooter with lots of weapons and upgrades, with some fun and engaging achievements, around 3 to 4 hours of playtime to complete it.
Overall good experience.
Overall score: 7.0 out of 10
100% This game in approx 4-5 hrs. Really Fun game but has bugs which get annoying sometimes.
overall i would recommend this game to everyone.
Those who are having alot of trouble with bugs, pls check my guide and dont forget to rate it
Honestly pretty good sad it wasn't longer. I've been a fan of Tequila Zombies since I was like 5 Hope we get a 4th. But uh for the review here it is
The beginning if you play as Miguel is trash pick someone else until u get the moss shotgun
other than that the gameplay was good that is all
Too many bugs. Unplayable
I remember playing Tequila Zombies 2 when I was a kid, before Flash was gone. I'm so glad to see the 3rd on Steam, even better than the other two. Love it
Its a good game, just the same way as it was when I first played it on Flash. The mechanics and functions are simple, it's not a challenging game. It is very short so you really are getting you money's worth. The boss fights do sometimes glitch however, the guitar riff looping over itself and the entire game lagging so hard that its unplayable as the boss cant even spawn. This can be negated if the boss did manage to spawn and you have the patience to still kill him with all the lag, but more often than not you will just have to restart the level, changing character will sometimes help but you will be in luck because restarting the level will put you RIGHT before the boss fight. If the problem does persist, you can try starting over. Overall, I like the character's style, the art style, and the story. Its raw, short, and unpolished as it was made by a small time dev team, but I think it works well into the Flash games charm we all used to love.
I really wanted to finish this game, but the huge amount of bugs I have encountered has caused me to quit this game. I really wish the creator would fix this asap.
Tequila Zombies 2 was amazing for it's time, but the end of Flash support squashed that. Tequila Zombies 3 is more of the same but it bugs out so darn often. If you have the patience to restart due to that 30-40% of the time then you'll enjoy it as much as you expected. Get it on sale for 80% off if you must have this game, it softens the blow for it's shortcomings bug-wise. The voice acting is still a cheesy delight!
Mi gusta Senor Iriy!
This game is at least 3 hours of fun content, which is very good for the price. This is more like an arcade game, thankfully without any micro transactions to keep playing.
Honestly, the only improvements I'd say it needs is adding in some of the cut content I read about, like the shooting section after the first level. Maybe add upgrades to the guns that, well, make it worth swapping out your new one with an old one.
+Good gameplay
+Good price on sale
+Fun Arcade mode
+Nice weapon variety
-Few bugs
7 out of 10
fun af but its buggy sometimes. and i couldnt kill the final boss so i had to reinstall the game, but everything saved so its fine.
This game could be amazing. But it's so messed up with bugs and glitches. Sad to say this game sucks because it's no stable at all. This game needs a update for sure.
Dont buy this game reason black screen on the first boss litteraly i just get black screen and that was all idk how to fix this problem but this problem is there maybe 2 or more years so that sad im disspointed from this
I liked this game because of the hilarious ragdolls and the fun upgrade path. The game play and boss fights are good. The only places that I would like to see this game improve in is the content. It only took me 2.1 hours to beat the whole game. although I'm not sure that the creators are still working on this game if they are I hope they read my review.
4 - 5 stars would recommend
Buggy as hell, game freezes/crashes and has massive slowdown issues. No, this isn't worth your money.
It seems there is a memory leaking, just like many other IriySoft games. Their games usually have a fine quality, and I wouldn't mind too much about a little memory problem IF I'm playing it on kongregate or armorgames. However, when they sell their games on steam, they should really put some efforts on optimization, otherwise people won't buy it even if it has some decent gameplay.
This game is just so-so. There is some fun to be had but a lot of annoyances too.
I loved Tequila Zombies 2.
It seems like with Tequila Zombies 3, the developers took away stuff that was good in #2 and introduced new mechanics that are really quite annoying.
First, there are no waves. Each stage has some checkpoints, but there is no clear visibility of how far you are from completing the stage.
Second, there is the reload mechanic which is really quite annoying. Tequila Zombies 2 had a better "flow" to it. In #3 you keep having to reload, which is a few seconds pause in the action.
Third, the super power or whatever it's called. I only tried with Miguel so I can't say for the other characters. The super power itself is great, but every time you use it (and you get enough tequila to use it quite often), it initiates some 6-7 seconds of animation during which the gameplay stops. The animation is cool but after a couple of times you get tired of it and wish the game continue already.
Fourth, the game is not as responsive to controls as I would expect. I have a high-end machine, but the game doesn't feel so smooth. I'm not sure it's a regression from #2, and it's probably Flash' fault, but I expected a bit more from a game on Steam, despite its Flashy heritage.
Fifth, there are cut scenes at the ends of stages which I believe cannot be skipped (maybe about one minute per scene).
Sixth, there is no support for controllers.
For me, this kind of game is about smooth action. All of the pauses introduced by the mechanics mentioned above pretty much ruin it for me.
