My review to Mall Empire
In this game allows you to build your own modern mall. You have more than 50 stores and different combinations to choose from. Furthermore, You can see your income and expenses in the financial reports and other reports. And many more.
Pro:
+ Steam Trading Cards
+ 400 Steam-achievements
+ Management
+ Build your own mall
+ Points Shop Items Available
Contra:
- No controller support
- Some few bugs
I recommend this game!
It's super glitchy; even after multiple years of being released. If you don't buy all the combinations at mall rank 1 forget it you never will; collecting money is ridiculously tedious; game days are too short (1.5mins which isn't even enough time for a shopper to explore the whole mall), and there's no customization. If all the money from a shop isn't collected when the TINIEST coin in the world appears in the upper right corner of THAT particular shop you lose out on that profit by half! Really... there isn't a "collect all profit" option still...? It has potential but it needs major tweaking...
I actually really enjoyed playing this game.
Sure, it's pretty simple and doesn't require a lot of planning or anything else...
But it was a tiny bit of fun to enjoy just to unwind and relax a bit.
I can recommend the game itself, though I don't really know if people are even still working on this project..?
It definitely needs some work, but if you grab it during a sale for a few cents, you can still get some fun out of this.
Actually a pretty entertaining game. Hours of fun. It's a great game to relax and listen to music. You can build your mall as high as you want, and build as many shops as possible. I'd recommend this if you are looking for a quick, fun game.
Lovely little game but it has some issues.
- The 'music' will get to you when you play this game for over 10 minutes, so mute the sound.
- There are some language mistakes that have not been addressed since the game was released.
- These mistakes make the tutorial / tips not easy to grasp.
- You are only able to save one game (so you can't start multiple games and save all).
- Getting 100% of the income from the shops is very labour intence, especially if you have a large mall.
But again, once you grasp the game-play it is very addictive.
I do hope the developers will give this another go and address the issues, mentioned by me and most reviewers.
(Bought this game while on sale, so not for the full price)
Mall Empire is a nice simple challenege. It doesn't exactly require any skill to play, just time and patience, and all achievements can be earned easily. Probably the best part of the game is the music.
That game is a fine example of a great idea, which is unfortunately poorly executed. I mean, first it really looks like a promising game. You can get to unlock some stores, invest some money to improve your income, get a loan if you need etc. Then, when you click to unpause, you realize where you've just got yourself into...
Well, how could I describe it in a practical manner? I guess that the best way, it would be to call it a "micro-management fest". That's because you actually gotta click on every single store that you have every day, in order to collect the cash that you make. At the beginning, it's no big deal, but just wait a lil' while and you'll see what madness it is. Oh, and if one reason isn't more than enough, you also have to click often to upgrade your stores as they level up (increasing stock and quality of items). So, pick up these two chaotic ingredients, blend them up and now you have a cocktail from hell. Of course, we can't forget to put a cherry inside of it: This game is one of those notorious achievements spammers. That by itself isn't really a big issue, except that the developers should have never inserted the damn buttons that you have to click on all the time, precisely at the right corner of the screen.
Ok, what else... There're also some broken achievements. That's because there're some you can only unlock after building a certain combination of stores. No matter how many times you try, they simply won't work. This game should also be known as one of those "FPS killers", because depending on how big your mall is, things will become really sluggish, and that can definitely wear on your patience (kinda like adding insult to injury). Hmm, there're some glitches too. I've seen some customers walking on air for whatever reason; there were times where I couldn't build an elevator (at all), and there were also some stores that wouldn't fit where you've clicked (they'd always skip to the next block).
Now that we're through all this, then what about the overall aspects? The graphics are ok, I guess. My only complaint is that the stores seem dead, as there's no movement going on, other than the costumers walking in front of them. There're no sound effects, and there's only one song available, which isn't really a bad thing, but it naturally gets annoying after listening to it for a long period of time. The game doesn't provide you any campaign mode, so my only guess is that you can say that you've truly finished this game, after you've successfully managed to unlock every possible achievement. As mentioned earlier, the gameplay itself could really use some improvement.
Well, for now this is my opinion. I doubt that the gameplay mechanics of having to click all the time will ever change, but I think that at least the broken achievements could be fixed. Just to finish, I hope that the next games from that company will be better, because their premise is surely interesting.
Looks like a retro 90s classic game. Management game where you can build a 15 story mall with various stores and upgrade them to get more money. You can buy investments, upgrades, houses for your customers and start an advertising campaign.
to get more customers. After you get the hang of it, it's fun to play. A few achievements are hard to come by.
pros: has cards
has 400 achievements (all working)
you can save your progress
cons: paused if you alt+tab the game
some minor bugs if you reconstruct your mall
Game is neither bad nor good, therefore 5/ 10.
* The ui is horrible
* The achivement spam blocks some of the buttons
* Collecting money is tedious as it's a button per store rather than clicking on the store
* The 2x store bonus bug out and can't be bought after rank 1
* The grammer is kinda bad
* All the tips are frontloaded rather than told as needed which means you will miss parts.
* The investments don't really show well enough what they are helping
* The stock used per day is not shown so it's hard to know if you are maximizing your shops
The game just has a lot of small compounding issues that make it rather mediocre and the stuff listed is not even everything.
English in this game is awful, making sometimes the tutorial hard to understand; tutorial which consists of 12 tips.
That's it.
You'll find yourself confused wondering what the hell to do; and when you will understand it, you'll be already bored given the repetitiveness of the game.
Refunded after 10 min.
Well, it's cute, but where's the rest of the game? You build the stores, manually collect money from them (why?) and... that's it so far. There are several technical issues (f.e. pause does not really pause the game, after reactivating the time speeds up), it is all oversimplified, but the biggest problem is gameplay - there isn't one.
Not a bad little time waster if a little simplistic. Take out a loan, build a bunch of stuff, and collect the lewt. Bonus if you can click alot and get the bigger cash (which is actually annoying).
For $2 (in the summer '17 sale) and with 400 actually not gratuitious (in the age of cheevo one-upping) achievements, it is all right. Buy it on sale or in a bundle and I think you will be ok with it.
5/10 on sale
As expected, there are a lot of bugs that need to be sorted.
But overall the game is really good and has the potential to become something bigger given that the developers work on polishing the game.
Very cute little budget version of Projecct Highrise. Interestingly, this is NOT a mobile port, it was made for the PC. Unfortunately they added things that make it too "Appish" and hopefully, and per some of the Devs comments, will be removed or tweaked. These being the "Click" stuff. It's GOT to go for this to be a real success, which I think it should be. Having to click your stores individually to recieve all the money, or NOT click and only get half your earnings is not acceptable, as most buyers have already stated. It does require a little "hide and watch" the gameplay to get the hang of things but if you've got an IQ over 25 it won't take you long. Graphically, it is very cute and acceptable, already has a lot of stores and so forth, I like the "combination" feature where you can get extra bonuses for certain store combos (Once I figure out how to use it..lol). For this price, even with no discount at all, it's a very playable and addictive little game for a break from some big FPS or TBS/RTS game.
Cons would be, and so far only, the click stuff has to be refined, which they say they are going to do. Likewise a few translations are certainly "English is not your first language" obvious, nit-picky but must be corrected just for apperances/quality sake. We all see this often in little indie games and no big deal, but it does matter for apperances/quality.
Overall it's a very worthwhile purchase if you are into the "Sim tower" type genre, and it really does feel to me like a budget version of Project Hiighrise and has a great deal of potential if they keep tweaking it and listening to their playerbase. So don't hestiate to pick it up if you are into this kind of genre, as I've had a pretty fun time and do not regret the small purchase price at all. Here's to hoping they continue to flesh it out.
Was quite confusing to start as no instructions at all. I would enjoy if not for having to click each store to get the sales $$. once you ahve a few levels of the mall it is stressful not enjoyable having to click click click. Crossing my fingers they change that function as I would enjoy it otherwise. Not likely to play again if not changed but for $3 oh well..
TL;DR: It looks like it still on its early version. Consider it before buying: its a incomplete version of something that will never be completed.
Full review:
Well, the game only launches when I choose the "fastest" graphics. Otherwise, it crashes.
First off: there is no zoom. And I can't navigate using my keyboard, only mouse. And its annoying.
It seems that there is no quest/misson either. Its just a regular sim tower with new (?!) graphics.
It seems that there is no "info" about the shops/stores. Its just a poor quality sprite.
The costumers comes all together and leaves all together. Like a mob of zombies. Its ugly.
It lacks tutorial. I don't know what am I supposed to do.
The concept is fantastic (as proven by Sim Tower.) but I was hoping for something much more... 2017. It seems it is an earlier version of something that could, but will never be really enjoyable, neither for hardcore gamers or casual gamers.
Bugs. Missing features. EXTREMELY UNINTUITIVE UI.
Also, it's a clicker. A clicker that provides no feedback or reward. In short, BORING. Needs a lot of work on UI, feedback, and general game mechanics and workflow. Sorry to the devs as I know this is your first game. You should playtest with people who know nothing about your game (and aren't your friends or biased) and watch them. Don't tell them how to do anything and observe their frustrations.
If you can fix those things, this might be a salvagable project. But I wouldn't wait too long as negitive reviews will pile up quick.
I've only played it a little while so far, but I plan to play it a bit at a later date.
My first impression is that this is just like Mall Developer Story for mobiles. If you liked that, you'll like this. Roughly the same price too. Had this game been a higher price tag I wouldn't be able to recommend it. Being $3.99 regularly it's not that big of a risk.
Something that I don't like is how you collect money. A little coin appears on the stores. You have a window where you can click it to collect your money. Miss it? You miss the money. Seems really weird in this kind of game to have that mechanic. If I never play the game again, it's probably because of that. Takes away from building the mall and forces you to go clicking everywhere to get cash.
Sort of a side note. People that make games like this obviously have zero clue how a mall is actually run. To put it simply, malls are like rental properties. The management team are landlords. Each space is rented out to a tenant. The mall builds the property, keeps it maintained, and tries to entice businesses to move in and open stores. I would really like to see someone make a mall management game like that some day.
Don't let the positive reviews fool you. There's nothing of quality here. It's just a bad clicker, nothing more. Nothing's explained. Many things don't work as they should. There's no point to the game, and no purpose.
It plays like a game that was just released for early access. The fact that this is the full release is unbelieveable. This game clearly needs many more months of development to be considered a full release.
I understand that this game is the dev's first, but this is not the condition you release a game in. Period.
I have over 700 games, and this will be the first one I ask for a refund for. Avoid.
So far I really like this game, it's very relaxing to play and also quite addictive. Obviously there are things that can be added but from what I've read everything that I'd like to have added will be added eventually. Also I love the soundtrack and the art style, would recommend c:
