Sonic Mania

Sonic mania is christian whitehead and teams love letter the golden age of hard 2d sonic games. This game lives up to the hype and if u want a solid 2d title that could belong right on the mega drive/genesis alongside the original trilogy then this is the game for you. 8.5/10

Jogaço, só que é tão ou mais dificil que o sonic do Mega Drive, dado que depois do 'game over' vc nao começa do zero, pode dar load no inicio da zona. Se você gostar de dark souls e de passar raiva jogando, vc vai gostar.

Segue sendo o bom e velho Sonic de plataforma frenética inercial, pixelado e com arte muito parecida, do jeitinho que a gente gosta.
Refizeram levels clássicos e reeditaram de leve a trilha sonora, tá muito bom. Me surpreendi (positivamente). Deram uma brisada no level pra pegar as esmeraldas, virou um jogo de corrida 3D virado na bala e no cogumelo, ta complicado, mas acho que level de esmeralda só foi mais acessível no Sonic 1 e 2. Depois vc só consegue as 7 se for doente da cabeça ou salvar no emulador.

Mesmo assim, tem valido a pena jogar.

This game is fun I normally hate the difficulty of sonic games because I'm trash but for $20 it's a solid game.

Probably the best sonic game in the past two decades

The new levels are creative and the old ones are familiar but given a modern twist to make them unique. The only issue I have with the game is that it's too easy - I played it as Sonic & Tails (the default option) and had one death throughout my whole playthrough (although I did play the game years ago on consoles, so it might be that)

As is widely known, this is a great Sonic game. I agree but will point out what makes this (maybe) not the best Sonic ever.

The worst I've found is that the new levels have issues with proper contrast on the colors of enemies, which integrate too well and are quite hard to spot. This is something that never happened on Sega games: every enemy clearly popped out, except where intentionally hidden. So it is a bit annoying.

A minor nitpick is that the visuals seem inspired by emulation players, being way too saturated and quite far off what was displayed on CRTs way back. Mostly the characters and re-used levels, new designs are well balanced.

The other thing is that the new level designs seem to lean on more on Sonic CD style levels, going for being more of the very extensive type instead of being small but more challenging.
Since I'm more of a fan of Sonic of the smaller designs, I don't enjoy the new levels as much. If that is also your case, I think Sonic 4 ep 2 fits that style better, with new gameplay also. Another is Sonic Triple Trouble 16bit, which is a shame Sega doesn't pick up and publish themselves.

This is also a cool game for team play, with Tails being player 2 and being very relevant to boss fights.

Either way, after going through the levels, the Boss designs are great and the whole presentation is very good. Great music, great graphics and gameplay. Nobody that likes platform games should miss this one.

One of the best Sonic games released in my opinion. I have probably played through it almost 10 times now. So much fun to come back to.

My favourite Sonic game. One of the best 2D platformers I've ever played, in fact. This is the classic Sonic formula perfected. And the whole thing is dirt cheap. Consists of a combination of classic stages cleverly remixed and some brand new ones, and with encore you've got five whole characters to play as (even if Ray is OP). For 20 bucks it's an absolute must play.

Peak Sonic Game, The aesthetics, The music, The gameplay, the compilation of classic adventures all in-one game, Right now in 2024 this game still holds up very nicely. Sonic Mania has aged like fine wine..

It's a little confusing to run (literally) the classic stages, but not it the classic order. Still, it's a must-play for veterans who grew up with these games!

This game doesn't just pay tribute to classic Sonic games, it surpasses them and IMO is the greatest Sonic game ever. The classic zones are superbly done with a unique take and the new original zones in this game are so good.

Whether you are a lifelong series fan or Sonic was a distant childhood memory, I highly recommend playing this.

The best 2D Sonic game since the originals; if you're looking to relive those experiences, then Sonic Mania should be your go-to. I would recommend Generations, but this one first above all others due to how well the develops 'got' Sonic and what made the games so much fun.

Very good game. I have never played the old sonic games but i still like it. right now im working to get a mod loader to experience sonic mania once more and i hope you can find a way to have even more fun with this game to!

Honestly this is one of the greatest classic sonic games to exist. If you are wanting to play more classic sonic. This game is for you. And the game is very fun for players who are touching this game as their first class Sonic game.

I recommend it for people a lot. The normal price is pretty decent for what the game is. 20$ it’s not that bad but I would rather and recommend to wait for a sale so it can be 5$ instead. And also if you are at it. Just waste another 1.24$ for the dlc when it’s on sale.

I'll be honest, Mania isn't my favorite, it has weeeird design choices that are funny but like any joke, aren't fun after the first few times. but nothing is objectively wrong with it so I can't really complain. try out the addendum mod if you can.

It's a fun platformer with a few good mods (but only 3 NSFW mods, sorry if that's your thing) but highly enjoyable on its own. You don't even need to like Sonic to like this. Absolute cinema.

This is probably the game that brung back all the old school Sonic fans, and it shows. Great animations, music and levels. There is a reason why people say its the second best 2d sonic game out there. Or first for some.

Take all the fun of the old-school sonic games and give them sonic-speed processing power to run beautiful graphics and fantastic music, and you have Mania. For those who respect the Blue Blur's classic games, this is an obvious buy.

I played Sonic Mania for the first time in 2020 2nd of June on PS4. I remember watching Sonic Mania Trailers and the Sonic Mania Adventures many times before I bought the game. I was so excited to play it once I got it as a DVD and it was actually a Plus version that came with a small book. The music is 10/10. I was so happy playing it and from that point on I was becoming a Sonic fan. I was introduced with Chemical plant and Flying battery zone that were my fav, the zones that were from the 90s from S2 and S&K. Although I played them after Sonic Mania.
I don't seem to have that much happiness/interest from Sonic Mania than now because I have grown up now, but It's still a good feeling to see a re-create a wonderful Sonic game from the 90s and make it good!
Sonic Mania is basically S1, S2, S3&K and CD mixed into 1 game.
Also I really liked "peel out" on Sonic.
All the comparisons and things that were in Mania were from the older Sonic games and when I played them, then I finally realized where they actually came from and "I was suprised".
I rate Sonic Mania/plus 10/10

it is the best 2d game in the sonic series has some of the best level from 1 2 3 and cd great new levels the music and the the drop dash are great

I am pretty sure this game is very entertaining. Sure it could use some modding but, it's fun and I highly recommend this to anybody who played a lot of sonic games before.

overall i actually really dislike classic sonic but this game is worth it for anyone. its so good and well made and way less of a pain in the ass than sonic 1,2 and 3 that its worth a play for just about anyone. its also good fun on the go with a laptop, tho a cracked version of this will actually run siginificantly smoother on laptops.

unironically one of the best sonic games of all time, people disagreeing are most likely a little blinded by nostalgia. for example my favorite sonic games are sonic adventure 1+2 but this is objectively better than those are. it captures the feel of the classic 2D sonic as well. great level design, beautiful level art/character sprites, and a great soundtrack. that's what carries the game here, as the story is a bit minimal, but isn't quite necessary in a game like this. im not the biggest fan of the old genesis games but if you loved those you'll feel right at home playing these.

one of the only genuine complaints i have about the game as a whole was i wish it had more content and more stuff to do. it isn't *perfect* but no sonic game really is. depending on what you're into, it is at worst a 5 or 6 out of 10 if you're not generally a fan of platformers & at best, you probably think it's a 9/10 masterpiece and the pinnacle of the sonic franchise to this day probably. i'm probably closer to a 7-8/10 on the spectrum, as i'm usually not the biggest fan of 2D sonic.

Freakin' amazing remake of all the best Sonic games mashed together in a way that makes it even more fun while still being nostalgic. The music is great as well!

In my opinion 2nd best 2d sonic platformer game after 3&knuckles. There's a lot of characters, interesting story, fun and engaging gameplay, a bit challenging achievements and really good level design. Maybe one day they'll make a sequel to sonic mania...

oh boy, my dead ass couldnt beat this game yet, some levels are really hard, the pixel art its gorgeous, the music is great, if i remember well this game was made by a fan right? hard to believe, the game is one of the best sonic games (if not the best), the game got achievements and steam cards, cant complain at all.

If you grew up playing the OG sonic's part 1-3 in the early 90's and loved the side scrolling 2d platforms then you will love this game. It brings back the first sonic games with a twist. Graphics and sound also remind me of the first games, I got this on sale so I am a happy camper.

it's so good I know people hear this type of comment all the time but you can't blame em it's so good because there's levels from the classics new levels (mirage saloon is my favorite) the art is beautiful it controls super well 100% the game is actually really fun unlike other sonic games. The story is meh though especially compared to s3&k but it was 2d though so there's that but there is another thing that I don't like how do you unlock the sonic and knuckles partnership like I have done pretty much everything including unlocking the mean bean machine thing but this game you should 100% buy.

Probably the best Sonic game I've ever played, beats Sonic 4 Episode 1 & 2 by a large scale, mostly the levels have all returned & remade, including a few new ones like Studiopolis & Press Garden also Mirage Saloon. Also the catchy redone music, maybe the music stands out more in Sonic Mania, all though the Blue Sphere stages are not bad however do drive me insane when I fail them, the Chaos Emerald stages are fine & fair with the difficulty so there's nothing to complain about there. I do recommend this game, if your into the Sonic video game platforming stuff, recommend to those who are true Sonic fans. No excuse to not buy Sonic Mania. Can't wait for more 2D platforming ones like this one in future.

Game doesn't go full screen for me at all. I've tried turning off my second monitor, changing the resolution, and more to try and get the game to be full screen but it just becomes unresponsive and glitches out the screen and i have to force close the game.

Amazing to play. Probably, if not, SEGA's best game ever made in a long time. THIS is why they should team up with Sonic fan-game studios more often! Absolute masterpiece!

dont buy the game it crashes wayy too much tried to find a fix for this issue and couldnt find any shame this is one of the best sonic games atm but the devs wont fix this issue

i could be able to buy this game because of the discount aswell as the dlc,it was only like 5-6 pounds so get the discount if you can so show your mom this review is she complains about it bieng too voilent or youll not play it sonic mania is kid friendly,they are not hurting the animals nor taking thier cool robot suit things away,doctor robotnik or docter egg controls those robot things and wants to take over the world while sonic,the main hedgehog,and tails his best friend that has 2 tails instead of one,probably why his name is tails and not tail,sonic is supa dupa cool and after getting to the plant lab or zone 2 i saw mr egg or humpty dumpty use the choas crystal that warps us to places and just know its insanely easy,only for stage one though:( had my first loss in plant lab where i lost all my 3 lives and got sent back to the beginning,also collecting a ring then getting damaged is simple,the ring drops after you get damaged and just pick it back up,i beat both of the first 2 games,but thats not enough,games are good for you and also buy him some robux if he begs you every time your going to shop becuase he wont forget,your son will always remember that,and if you dont treat him right or your strict,C H A N G E T H A T ,anyways its basically inifnite lives with one ring but if your at the edge of the screen in a boss and get bonked your ring might be like 'im outta here in the part you cant see see ya never bozo-' and leaves you:( still really fun and just know if your strict he M I G H T shut off your life support when your a grandma,good thing only really bad kids do that,right? Sonic Mania is a love letter to the classic games with some new additions to keep things fresh for players. This game oozes creativity and passion for the IP, while also offering great controls and level design. I admittedly still suck at 2D Sonic and experienced another fair share of rage, but that was more so from my own abilities rather than a fault of the game itself. If there was any critique I have, it would be that I wish there were more original stages instead of mostly remixed ones.

This is Probably one of the best Sonic Games and THE ABSOLUTE BEST of 2017 (Sonic Forces, Suck My Nuts) If you get the Plus DLC and Decompile it with the Addemendium Mod (No way I didn't mispell that, sorry in advance English isn't my first language), You Get the Absolute best Expirience!

Its the first sonic game i played through and beat! Its pretty good. It's a really hard game but its the most difficult the first time you play it. Im a big time mario fan and didnt grow up playing much sonic games but this one is a fantastic first sonic game to play and beat

I LOVE SONIC MANIA!!!! I Love the game-play, the music, the style, the animations, the FEELING of extreme fun whenever I press play. This game is extremely replayable, the level design is as fun as it gets, the characters are very well thought out(powers, game-play mechanics) and I feel like everything i do in this game results in a big ass grin on my face, because everything has been thought out by the developers, so every second is filled with fun and excitement.

Piece of shit game worked perfectly fine last time I played it however many years ago, now it crashes if you DARE to try to put it in fullscreen without fail every time. Waste of god damn disk space.
