very fun . i was 7 when i played this now im 27 and the nostalgia is all there!
Lego Star Wars - The Complete Saga is nostalgic and wonderful, with a dose of jank. 4/5
On my scale, a 4/5 game is great. It goes beyond simply “good” and elevates the experience with a solid story, a particularly noteworthy process of development, and/or innovations in mechanics which are satisfying to figure out and implement.
By far the majority of people who are looking at this game in 2025 are doing so because they grew up playing this version of Lego Star Wars, so the vast majority of you need no introduction to what this game is.
So a quick little summary for those of you who may not know: this is one of the original releases of Lego Star Wars - The Complete Saga. It is not the true original, as attested to by two of the actual original levels you can unlock when collecting enough gold bricks, but the few changes they have made (like those levels) are generally QOL improvements and the addition of extra challenge levels/content. Either that or I never got as far as the bonus levels as a kid, lol.
This is a perfect Steam Deck game. I played it through to 90%, including all gold bricks, on the deck and it worked perfectly. I could have done the blue minikits too, but by that point I had already played through all the levels at least twice and was like “ok that’s enough.” Maybe I’ll go back one day, but not now.
Biggest downside to the Steam Deck platform is the lack of multiplayer, but if you’re playing on the Deck you probably don’t have someone to split screen with. If you do, however, the true classic Lego Star Wars experience is the good old split keyboard arrangement, preferably with a sibling that you can kill repeatedly for taking your studs (money).
It has a lot of charm and a lot of content, although if you are playing efficiently you can beat the game fast, probably in about 20-25 hours (I was not playing efficiently, I was playing like a greedy loot goblin collecting each silver stud as if my life depended on it).
This is a great game for kids to play together (most of the time, see above killing each other comment) and even for kids to play with their parents. I remember this game for playing with both my brother and my dad, and it is a very straightforward game with linear levels but many puzzles. I do own the Skywalker Saga version of Lego Star Wars, but have yet to play it and cannot give a good point of comparison.
In some cases, you can solve the puzzles through unintended means. My favorite example is in the Episode 4 tuskan raider level: I didn't think to use the creature to reach the ledge where you access the red brick and instead got up there after 15 minutes of trying to position myself on flowers. There aren’t many of these cases, but there are enough for you to do them accidentally and then be like “oh I wasn’t supposed to do it that way.”
It does show its age in a few places. You cannot skip cutscenes even after playing through the story once, some minikits are very lazy compared to others which have entire elaborate puzzle rooms built around them, studs can have weird pickup hitboxes/radius, the bonus levels are almost entirely ass, and there is very little reason to replay completed levels after collecting all the minikits via free play. By the time you actually have all of the extras, you don’t really have any reason to use them at all, which is kinda sad and disappointing. I remember there being more to do in this game from when I was a kid, but I think that was because I was mainly killing my brother and fooling around and having fun, without also factoring in some degree of “I can complete this” mindset.
Now, is this nearly 15 years-old game worth $20? Ehhh. If you’re super nostalgic about it, then full-heartedly, yes. If you have someone you plan on playing this split-screen with, then also yes. If you’re going to play this alone and/or you just like Lego games in general, then my recommendation is wait for a sale. Very worth even at $10 and it has gone down to that area a few times. I don’t remember exactly what I paid for it, but I’m pretty sure it was less than $10. Wait for that and you have a very well worth little game on your hands.
It's made really well with a bunch of levels that make you think. Its not perfectly loyal to the movies but still great. There are some annoying parts but overall really well made.
Negative review until achievements are added to the Steam version of the game.
Such a classic, bought this game to replay it (use to own it on my Wii, but idk where that relic is), and the nostalgia came rushing back. 100000000000000000000000000000000/10 would recommend, especially if you didn't like the new one (LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker (controversioal) Saga)
It´s the same lego star wars i played on my crappy wii with my brother, and the nostalgia is extreme. The only problem i have with it is the controlls, mainly because you can´t use your mouse:/
As fun as you remember and some classic slap stick comedy. Imo, it's not worth it to 100% since the blue minikit missions are annoying, and the super stories just take longer than expected. Good fun for a week of gaming.
Childhood game. Loved collecting characters/studs/minikits, etc. as a kid, and even now as an adult.
There's probably much better Lego games out there, but this was nostalgic for me, so I'm biased.
Used to play this game as a kid a lot, funny thing is that I never beat the pod race level, 10 years later I finally beat it lolol :')
this gameplay is too easy from my childhood from the PSP, PS2 is very nostalgic for the goal 100% with items" + super story bonus most speedrun & cutscenes can't be skipped on the recommendation to play instead of story.
fun game worth the money, if enjoy levels this is def your thing, if you like lego games this is one of the original fun ones. I have fully completed this on the wii very fun.
One of the classic Lego games used to play all the time along with Bionicle Heroes on the PS2, plays great on Deck.
I'v only played it for 10 hours and I gotta say this is a masterpiece it was a big part of my childhood and now I can relive my childhood memory's
Much of this game coasts off of the power of nostalgia, but it's fairly good in its own right. Encountered some odd hiccups here and there--my PC is a GTX 1060, i7, but I suffered some serious framerate drops during fast cutscenes, and a couple times it froze?--but it runs well most of the time. The game never crashed on me, and when it froze, it eventually resumed.
The game can get grindy and tedious sometimes, but there's so much character involved, I'll give it a pass. It holds up. Press "forward" during the Pod race, btw.
This game is a classic. It is one of the most iconic video games of all time, especially for Star Wars fans and LEGO fans. I have quite the history with this game, as the original LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game (2005) was one of my first experiences with video games and Star Wars. Many others have given this game the praise it deserves for being a faithful and fun adaptation of the original six films. I am a huge fan of the gameplay, how you can play as all of your favorite characters and even the customizer is fun. Basic, but fun. My biggest issue with this game, however, is the post-story content. While the hub is fun and I like free play, the challenge modes and especially the Super Story segments of the game are a drag. You don't receive any benefit and it makes you replay these levels over and over again, which is not terrible since they're fun and enjoyable levels, but it just gets tiring after a while. Overall, however, this game is a classic for a reason, and I love it with all my heart. I only knock it down a tiny bit due to the Super Stories and Challenge mode. 9/10
Better than skywalker saga by miles, amazing character roster, good hub, but its insanely easy so it could get boring after a while. only really worth it if you're a star wars fan
This game is so peak. I gave up everything else in my life so I could play this game 24/7. If anything tried to stop me, it would disappear within a few hours, and would never be found. Now, I must finish this review quickly, or I have to make you disappear too
classic. made before disney decided to make the franchise worse. good nostalgia for me when i want to indulge.
A game that stands against the hands of time - still really fun and my kids love it.
When I downloaded this game, I expected it to work. But in reality, the application couldn't create a d3d device. I tried everything to fix it but nothing worked. Would not advise buying. Waste of money.
Childhood game I love and enjoy. Still runs very good on my new PC as well. Sometimes frames my spike down in certain areas then immediately fix itself. Does not happen too often but it has happened before. Still a recommended game.
i played this on the wii and it is a wholly unserious summary of star wars. 10/10 it's a great beginner's game if you want younger children to try video games for the first time! except for that one pod racing mini-game. jesus.
That's the way you continue a LEGO SW Saga series ^_^ Thanks, LucasArts, I miss you.
Muy buen juego, desde niño siempre lo quize jugar y ahora en estas fiestas me lo pude permitir
An absolute classic. This was a nice meld of the first two games with some bug fixes. Still better than the new one.
Still a really fun time, get a friend and play through this game with them you will have a blast
This game was my childhood! I loved this game and I played it so many times. The nostalgia is crazy for this game and I recommend it to other players.
Unless you're getting it for the nostalgia, just get the new one instead. The vehicle levels in particular I find actually miserable to play through
I played this game when I was a kid and now im playing it again but as an adult lol. I can say it is still a blast. I will say there are a few bugs, I've only put a few hours in it and have found that it can act weird when having my keyboard and controller plugged in and tab out for something then come back to the game. Other than that its still as good as you remember it! With the sale price right now it is a must buy.
VERY AWESOME GAME. Feels very janky to play in 2024 but the sense of nostalgia is perfect, this game is perfect to play when its raining. I refunded the game (terrible decision) because in my opinion it was janky to play in 2024 but its worth a while. on top of that the game doesnt rrequire a mouse meaning that you can play the game ANYWHERE, even the bathroom. this game is dope an i highly recommend it.
better than the skywalker saga
best lego game
prob one of the best games to ever exist too
10/10
Star Wars in plastic form! Foreshadowing at its finest. Truly ahead of its time.
As a kid we had this laptop that came with The Sims 3 and Lego Star Wars with the last few chapters. I was so relieved to find the complete saga to be able to finish the story and enjoy childhood nostalgia. I recommend this game for any Lego game lovers, star wars lovers, and in general.
At least give hints, when putting puzzle in, so much BS i had to find an online guide for because it doesn't give any ideas for anything
This game is a required step in becoming a true gamer. So sad TT abandoned this masterpiece and lazily ported it to PC.
Enjoying so far however the flashing text is going to give me a anurism surely that isnt safe for people with epilepsy
I didn't play the early Lego games when they were new. First Lego game I played was Jurassic World and it was when I was already an adult. This game is OK, but I've been spoiled with the newer, superior Lego games. I'd recommend the newer games over this game any day.
THIS GAME DOES NOT WORK ON THE STEAM DECK. WHY IS IT VERIFIED? Almost none of the controls register on the Steam Deck. If a Valve employee is seeing this, please de-verify this game. It's such a massive disappointment given I was so excited to play a game I loved so much growing up.
Timeless masterpiece. Wait for the price to drop to 4€ (which happens often). Amazing, runs even on a potato, fun.
Absolute banger. Only downside is you need to play each main level AT LEAST 4 times for 100% and the vehicle levels other than the pod race sucks.
A Wii/X360/PS3 era classic that runs just as well on PCs. While the difficulty is basically nonexistent, it's a really fun way to experience the Star Wars films. Collectibles and co-op or character exclusive sections add replay value, but it's not forced on you and the game plays very well in singleplayer story mode.
I recommend using Steam Input to connect a controller, though. The keyboard controls are not great. There are also some glitches throughout, both of the annoying and hilarious variety.
BEST LEGO GAME OF ALL TIME!!! Absolute classic and idk if anything can beat it. So much playtime even tho its a bit repetitive you cant really beat this for classic childhood games.
not the best lego game but not the worst one either
LEGO Star Wars is the staple of many a childhood and I was no different and LSW is still a game coming back to as an adult and honestly one of the best games that is great for the family or otherwise, now if only steam remote play would fucking work
I love this game, it's still so fun and great. <3 And CUTE. :) As a kid I never actually tried getting any minikits or anything lol but now I am! :D It's so gooood! Of course it also runs like a dream lol, no effort at all on modern gaming laptop and super chill temps of like 40-50 C.
Never played this game as a kid and it still gave me nostalgia, 10/10.
I'm speechless, Filoni has done it again
In an age of cinematic mediocrity and watered-down content, it’s a rare and refreshing occurrence to experience a work that not only transcends its medium but redefines it. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is a tour de force, a profound meditation on the Star Wars mythos that dazzles both the casual fan and the connoisseur alike. Truly, it is not merely a game—it is an art form, a postmodern reflection on the depths of storytelling, and a tribute to the lasting cultural resonance of George Lucas's iconic universe.
From the opening sequence, where the iconic Star Wars theme subtly melds with the unmistakable clink of Lego bricks, it’s clear that this is no ordinary adaptation. Dave Filoni, the auteur behind this remarkable reimagining, has elevated the often-overlooked Lego format into something approaching high art. Each level, each interaction, is imbued with a careful, almost reverent attention to detail. The characterizations of beloved heroes and villains—distilled into whimsical Lego mini-figures—exude both gravitas and charm. Filoni has taken what could have easily been a slapstick parody and transformed it into a layered, nuanced retelling of one of the greatest sagas in modern pop culture.
What’s remarkable is how the game retains the humor and lightheartedness inherent to its Lego origins while never diminishing the epic grandeur of the Star Wars universe. It’s a delicate balancing act, one that requires a mastery of tone, and here, Filoni succeeds with aplomb. The narrative—stretching across the prequels and original trilogy—captures the essence of Star Wars not as a simple space opera, but as an allegory for heroism, fallibility, and redemption.
The design of each level is a visual and auditory feast. The environments—whether it’s the desolate sands of Tatooine or the bustling streets of Coruscant—are rich with texture and atmosphere, a testament to the devotion put into the game's world-building. And the score—oh, the score—remains one of the greatest triumphs of this project. John Williams’ iconic compositions, reimagined through the Lego filter, are given new life, further elevating the emotional stakes of each sequence. You’ll find yourself humming the familiar themes long after the credits roll.
But it’s not just about the visuals or the score; it’s about the emotional resonance. The Complete Saga does something that many other adaptations fail to achieve: it makes you feel. When you are guiding Luke Skywalker through his journey from farm boy to Jedi Knight, it’s hard not to be moved by the weight of his transformation, even when you're navigating a world of Legos. This game understands that the magic of Star Wars isn’t in the spectacle alone, but in the quiet moments, the reflections on identity, loyalty, and the unyielding pursuit of hope.
To call Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga simply a "game" feels like a disservice. It’s an experience, a monumental achievement in interactive storytelling. Filoni has done more than just craft a fun romp through the Star Wars universe—he’s created a love letter to it. For all the nostalgia it evokes, it also reinvigorates the spirit of Star Wars in a way that feels fresh, joyful, and utterly timeless.
In short, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga is not just an exercise in fan service; it is a masterclass in the art of adaptation, a profound meditation on the lasting power of Star Wars, and quite possibly, the most important work of the medium since the introduction of the Lego brick itself.
Great game, just play and enjoy. It was a big part of my Child hood
