When fugitive magician Lucas MacGuffin bungles a museum robbery, he finds himself:
- magically bound to an ancient amulet;
- up against a city in full high-tech security lockdown; and
- suddenly dealing with the worst body hair problems he's ever had.
And with the city's most powerful billionaire after his blood, a jaded Private Investigator on his (now-literal) tail and the rent long overdue, he'll need every ounce of ingenuity he manage.

> Thought this game would be a hidden gem, like finding a secret room in a haunted mansion. 💎
> Turns out, it's about as thrilling as trying to fit a square peg in a round hole... whilstin a giant hamster ball. 🤦♂️🔲
> Maybe it's just me, but lugging and rotating sofas around hallways isn't my idea of a good time. I prefer my furniture to stay put. 🛋️
> The art style and writing had potential, but it's like they cast a spell and missed the mark. Maybe they need a magic refresher course. 🧙♂️✨
> As soon as I transformed into that poorly drawn Furry werewolf, I knew it was game over. I've seen better werewolves in a Scooby-Doo cartoon. 🐺🎨
> Very repetitive and about as funny as a rubber chicken at a... children's birthday party. 🐔🎈
> Tried to solve the puzzle of why I was still playing, but it remained a mystery. Maybe I'm just a glutton for punishment. 🕵️♂️🤔
> You play as a magician-turned-werewolf, trying to save the city from an evil millionaire. Because apparently, that's a thing now. 🎩🐺💰
> Genre: Grid-based puzzle... more like grid-based snooze fest. I've had more excitement watching paint dry. 🎮😴
> The art is a shining light in the darkness, but everything else feels like it's under a curse. Maybe they should call a real witch doctor. 🖼️🔮
> Sokoban games in general are about as thrilling as watching grass grow on a cloudy day. It's like the developers thought, "Let's make moving crates as exciting as doing taxes." 📦💤
> The game's humor falls flat like a pancake dropped from the top floor of a skyscraper. And I'm not even sure if it's maple syrup-worthy. 🥞❌
> Soon became a never-ending cycle of move a crate, run back to transform, run back again, and repeat ad nauseam. I've had more excitement organizing my sock drawer. 📦🏃♂️
> The boss fight was as intimidating as a kitten with a water pistol. I've seen more threatening villains in a preschool play. 🐱💧
> In werewolf mode, you can't close a door but can push a crate... yeah, makes perfect sense. Clearly, logic took a vacation in this game. 🤔❌
> While the art direction is commendable, everything else feels like it's been hexed. Maybe they should have consulted a real witch for advice. 🎨🔮
> By the end, I was more bored than a scarecrow on a windless day. I've had more fun counting grains of sand at the beach. 🌾🏖️
> Only worth playing if you find joy in masochistic puzzlers or enjoy watching paint dry. And if you do, I have some paint you can watch. 🎨😉
Title: "The Dark Knight's Light Puzzle"
[The scene opens in the Batcave. Batman is hunched over a computer, Alfred is polishing a display case, and the Justice League members are scattered around, looking curious.]
Batman: Alright, team. We've got a new mission tonight. It involves... puzzles.
Wonder Woman: Puzzles? Isn't that a bit... trivial for the Justice League?
Batman: Trust me, this isn't your average Sudoku. We're dealing with MacGuffin's Curse.
Flash: (sarcastically) Oh, sounds terrifying. Is it like, "The Riddler's Revenge" or something?
[As Flash mentions the Riddler, the Batcave's screen flickers, and in a puff of green smoke, the Riddler appears, accompanied by Joker, Harley Quinn, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman.]
Riddler: Did someone say my name? Ah, the Justice League! How delightful.
Joker: (cackling) Oh, what a delightful twist of fate! The Sustice League, reduced to mere puzzle-solvers. How utterly... amusing!
Harley Quinn: (giggling) Oh, Mistah J, you crack me up! Sustice League, I like that one!
Two-Face: (flipping his coin) Heads, we win. Tails, you lose. Either way, it's a gamble worth taking, don't you think?
Mr. Freeze: (chuckling) A frosty reception for our esteemed guests, wouldn't you say? Let's see if they can handle the chill.
Poison Ivy: (smirking) Oh, the irony of heroes trapped in a game of nature's design. Perhaps a few thorns in their path will slow them down.
Catwoman: (purring) Looks like the cat's got their tongue. Don't worry, boys, I'll keep them entertained while you work your magic.
Batman: (grimacing) Not now, Riddler. We're busy.
[The Justice League members exchange wary glances as the villains hover around.]
Green Arrow: (draws his bow) Looks like we've got some uninvited guests, Bats.
Hawkgirl: Ready to take them down, Batman?
Batman: Focus on the game, team. Let's solve these puzzles and show these villains what we're made of.
[They all gather around the computer as Batman loads up the game. The Justice League members look determined, while the villains look mischievous.]
Green Lantern: (forming constructs to shield the team) Don't worry, Wonder Woman. We've got this.
Cyborg: (hacking into the game) I'll see if I can shut down their interference from the inside.
[As they navigate through the game, the puzzles become increasingly complex, testing the limits of their teamwork and problem-solving skills.]
Superman: (lifting heavy objects) These puzzles are no match for our combined strength.
Martian Manhunter: (using telekinesis to manipulate objects) Agreed, Superman. We just need to stay one step ahead of them.
Flash: (moving at super speed) Leave it to me, guys. I'll clear the path in no time!
[Despite the villains' best efforts to thwart them, the Justice League members persevere, using their unique abilities and strategic thinking to overcome each challenge.]
Aquaman: (summoning aquatic creatures to assist) Fear not, Batman. With the power of the ocean on our side, victory is within reach.
[As they approach the final stages of the game, tensions run high, but the Justice League remains steadfast in their determination to emerge victorious.]
Green Arrow: (nocking an arrow) Agreed, Wonder Woman. Let's show them what the Justice League is made of.
[With a final surge of effort, the Justice League members tackle the last puzzle, overcoming the villains' interference and emerging triumphant.]
Batman: (smirking) Well done, team. We've saved Gotham once again.
[As the villains look on in defeat, the Justice League members share a victorious moment, proud of their teamwork and camaraderie.]
Flash: (catching his breath) That was intense. Who knew puzzles could be so... exhilarating?
Cyborg: (smirking) I guess you could say we cracked the code, Flash.
Harley Quinn: (teasingly) Hey, Wonder Woman, ever thought of trading in that lasso for a Wonderbra? Might help you catch more than just villains, huh?
Wonder Woman: (amused) Oh, Harley, always full of surprises. Though I think I'll stick to my lasso for now.
Harley Quinn: (grinning) Suit yourself, Diana. But you've got me wondering... how about a little Dirty Diana action instead?
Wonder Woman: (chuckling) You never fail to keep things interesting, Harley. But I prefer to keep my heroics clean and above board.
Harley Quinn: (winking) Aw, c'mon, Diana! Don't you ever wonder what life's like on the wild side?
Wonder Woman: (smirking) Oh, I do plenty of wondering, Harley. But I prefer to save my wild side for the battlefield.
[As the banter continues between Harley and Wonder Woman, the rest of the Justice League can't help but chuckle at their playful exchange.]
[With the puzzle solved and the villains thwarted, the Justice League members share a well-deserved moment of victory, grateful for their teamwork and unity in the face of adversity.]
In a city of puzzles, where magic's the game,
I'm a cunning magician, known by my name.
Solve my puzzles with wit, unlock every door,
But beware the curse, for there's more in store.
By day I'm a man, with tricks up my sleeve,
But by night I transform, under the moon's keen weave.
With each puzzle solved, I inch towards my fate,
Can you crack my curse, before it's too late?
Awesome!
It's an enjoyable game if you have the patience for puzzles. The only drawback in my opinion is when you have constantly switch back and forth between human and wolf to complete a single puzzle. It isn't for everyone, especially if you aren't into problem solving, but its a funny quirky adventure with some nice brain teasers. I enjoyed it and do recommend it!
Surprisingly addictive and fun Sokoban puzzle adventure. Comedy and werewolves make for a great combo!
What worked:
- Wacky story. Implementation of the narrative in a game that is 95% a puzzle always makes the experience better. Instead of feeling like you’re grinding out room after room, having a goal, side quests, conversations, loot and other extras makes it feel like an adventure. Here we got a loony universe with moustache-twirling villain and generally so over-the-top characters that it all turns out to be a lighthearted, humorous journey with a clear plot that is fun to follow while solving all the puzzles.
- Puzzles themselves are of pleasant challenge level. Not brain-breaking hard, but definitely requiring some thinking, especially as the game progresses.
- Interesting mechanic of switching to wolf form in order to find solution. Human Lucas and wolf Lucas are capable of different things, so constantly switching between the two is a part of puzzle-solving here, and it’s fun!
- Graphic element overall – very charming top-down cartoon style, cozy colors and lighting, well-done animations. Just lovely.
- Writing. There are quite a few quips in here. Judy and Strump can dead-pan a good joke on occasion. Some puns are corny as hell, but I like those, so they worked too.
- Soundtrack. Good quality instrumental tracks that vary from location to location, and they fit the atmosphere of each perfectly, be it biker’s gang-ran junk yard or a city library.
What was “meh”:
- While puzzle difficulty was slowly increasing with progress, the variety of elements stopped -somewhere along half-way. It would have been cool to gain a slightly different obstacle/mechanic or, maybe, a style in which they are presented as Lucas keeps moving forward. As it stands – it started to feel very same-y at some point.
- While the overall graphic element is delightful. The assets recycled throughout a single location were not. If there are 50 identical paintings placed in the city hall – reading Lucas’ different comments on every single one made me simultaneously admire and feel sorry for the writer. I get recycling assets, but here it was taken to the extreme, and because of that might just have been a part of the art direction that simply didn’t work for me.
- Cleaning up and decorating Lucas’ apartment was a neat idea that fizzled out once everything in the pawn shop was acquired. There could have been so much more done with that, but as it stands it was neither here nor there.
What didn’t work:
- Ending. There’s some romance drama here, and without spoiling anything – people (animals?) are feeling all googly-eyed about this one chick who committed one of the worst crimes in human relationship history. Somehow, it was brushed under the rug, and I got to basically “ooh and ahh” at how great she is. She isn’t. She is absolutely terrible, and I have been disappointed at the way things ended. Keeping in mind that it is an over-the-top cartoon story – it isn’t THAT huge of a deal, but still, it just rubbed me the wrong way.
- City hall track. My God. While I greatly enjoyed 90% of the music here and downloaded pawn shop track right away (love me a good jazz noir), the city hall track was so grating that I had to immediately turn it down. It made me feel like I was at some pompous funeral, so I ended up playing the entire chapter in silence. It was better this way.
- Arrows/WASD for walking and “M” for action. This puts hands at the very awkward position on the keyboard. Why? Just why?
“MacGuffin’s Curse” is a fun one. It’s a Sokoban puzzle in a nutshell but has all the bells and whistles of the adventure game, and they are exactly what makes it entertaining. Wild, silly story, many a side and fetch quests, funny dialogues, and good old looting – all of it makes this werewolf-driven trip very enjoyable. Obviously, it’s primarily recommended for those who like these kinds of puzzle-centric games, but I jumped in blind and still ended up really amused. So, quite possibly, it might also be a good fit for those who found the aesthetics attractive and just open to an idea of a game built on one gigantic puzzle, as well.
Also, here, once again, one can confirm that kids are pure evil. Like anyone ever doubted that.
This is a really cool game. I have never played any game cooler than this before. My whole life was pretty warm and then i found this cool game which made my life cool. This game comes with cool puzzles, cool characters and cool jokes in-between making your life cool like it did with me. I ordered MacMuffin while playing MacGuffin which was really cool. Had this game been not that cool, I would have said it isn't cool but this is not the truth so I say it once again, that MacGuffin's Curse is a really cool game.

Pushing block puzzle game with a great story and secrets to find - played it 100% and loved it!
This is the classic Sokoban game with a modern twist. Very well done!
A fun and surprisingly endearing sokoban game for all the block pushers out there. Something about the graphics, the absurd characters, the commitment to having unique dialogue for almost every object in the game; it all comes together as an extremely generous experience, and makes me wish there was a sequel on the horizon.
Ah well. Also, it has a chill night-in-the-city aesthetic.
It is a fun game.
However sometimes the puzzeling can get boring. Yes it is a puzzle game, but how can anybody ever get to work when they have to move a heavy battery a normal person can't move every day?
When I started I tried to finish every single room, but half way I gave up on that. Still did several puzzles, but lucky Strump helped me through the remaining puzzles.
The story itself is fun and I am glad I bought the game.
The best part of the game is that you only need to solve a puzzle room once and then can just pass through it.
Unless you asked Strump to open the door for you.
This is probably one of the most creative stories I have ever seen in a puzzle game, and I find the puzzles themselves to be just challenging enough without being hair-pullingly complex, although there are a few that got me. All in all, I give it a 9.5 out of 10, and suggest it to anyone who likes Sokoban-style Puzzle games, or puzzle games in general.
This was fun. It's sokoban with werewolf powers. I do wish the level had gotten more complicated by the end though.
Enjoyable puzzle-focus game play. I liked getting gold and furnishing the apartment although it would have been nice to also spruce up the walls, floor and remove the litter laying there cuz furniture can only go so far in making your home a nice place to look and live in.
My only other pet peeve is that while I got all achievements and did what I assume are all quests and got all the comic pieces... I'm still NOT at all hundred percent. This would mean numerous backtracking trying to figure out the one spot I somehow missed. If only there was a percentage on the little quick map buttons that let you know which area needs the actual backtracking to.
Overall, a cute little game to kill time with.
I will admit, not the game for me, but it's still good. A puzzle game based around block moving, you follow the adventures of a thief that steals an amulet which let's him transform into a warewolf at will but only in moonlight. (As is commonly followed by many warewolf stories.) With an interesting cast of people and great replay experience, if you love puzzles, this will keep you entertained for hours, trying to buy every single upgrade for your house. Reccomended if you love puzzles and mystery, not if you don't like that stuff.
This is a very entertaining puzzle game. A really simple concept was put forth by the developer of moving boxes and pushing buttons in order to advance to the next room. Some puzzles were simple and easy to see, other took quite a bit of thought on which boxes to be moved first and/or which box should press down that button. While these thoughts are running through your head, you also need to make sure you can swap from different forms (wolf and human) which allow you to do certain things in each form that you can't do in the other.
Good humor, interesting back story, and excellent puzzles kept me hooked throughout this game and allowed me to finish it completely.
10/10
Heavily influenced by Sokoban (or Boxy Boy), MacGuffin's Curse is a pure joy to play. A puzzle game with a very interesting story full of witty humor, MacGuffin's Curse proves that an old idea can be recycled & yield an interesting result. The puzzles are accentuated by the ability to shape-shift into a werewolf & the changing scenery helps break the monotone nature of puzzle games in general. Only negative note is playing with an Xbox 360 controller: while using the analog stick it feels loose but this is expected on games with 4 axes controls. You can play with the d pad instead but that feels awkward, although it gives greater control.
Overall I feel that this one will be a hidden gem as I fear that not many people will have the guts to try it.
This is a great puzzle game that is not afraid to make fun of itself and the genre. The puzzles vary throughout in difficulty and introduce new concepts and equipment for use along the way. There are several side quest paths to follow and a wide range of collectibles etc alonside the main storyline. I love to dip in and out of this game, solving one room and then coming back later. The developer has included interesting and amusing notes about the game's development throughout which add to its charm.
Time Bought: 2 months after release
Money Spent: $3.50 on steam sale
Worth The Price?: Yes
Position In Game At Time Of Review: minor gameplay, just escaped the museum
Ok so you turn into a werewolf and human. Sounds cool huh!? Well, not really. The devs just picked a werewolf for you to turn into. They could have easily picked a vampire or robot or grilled cheese sandwich. Great, now I'm hungry. Well, this game is a puzzler. The basis of this game is going from room to room and switching between both personas, which have different attributes, to solve the puzzle in each room. This game is made for the elementary kids and not for adults. Even the constant jokes are G level rated. I would get this for my elementary kids IF the pc port wasn't glitched!! That's right, it's broken :/ You automatically move objects that are near even if you don't want to. Example, you move a safe where you want it but cant back up without automatically moving the safe back again :/ This is not a good game to waste your money on imo.
Rating: 3/10
MacGuffin's Curse is a gem of a puzzle adventure game. You steal this amulet that gets permanently attached to you which allows you to change into a werewolf using moonlight. Using that ability, you then maneuver through a maze of puzzles in which you must move a battery into a slot which powers the door to the next location. The puzzles range from simple to challenging. You have certain abilities and restrictions in wolf form such as moving objects which you can't do when in human form. But in human form, you can use terminals and move through water which you can't do in wolf form. The shape shifting element plus the different puzzle rules for each character really makes for a great mental workout.
On top of the great puzzles they throw in a cool story and a few side missions to keep things interesting. Some of the later missions seem to end up being fetch quests, but they weren't excruciatingly painful to deal with.
The game is really well balanced and has a decent coat of polish on it. It has great music too and offers a lot of attention to detail. Puzzle lovers can't go wrong here. Check it out.
Lots of fun, if you like block puzzling games. By the end there are a handful of puzzles that just feel tedious due to the iterative repetition to complete, but on the whole it is a very enjoyable experience. 5/5
The awesome humour you get from discworld and monkey island.
The cool and funny graphic you love.
Hours of fun puzzles..
How can you NOT like this game? :D
This one is a love-it-or-hate-it kind of game. Remember the block-pushing puzzles in old top-down RPGs (particularly in the first couple of Zelda titles)? That's what this entire game is. If you liked those puzzles? This game is fantastic. If you hated them? Move along, nothing to see here. The artwork is a little amateurish, but the writing is genuinely funny, the puzzles fiendishly creative, and the game has a lot of content to it. If you like puzzlers (this game is 100% puzzle, no combat), then this one is definitely worth a try.
