A natural follow up to the previous game. I like the reboot trilogy, but I think this one is honestly the weakest of the three, despite having improvements from the first game. I still think it's worth playing though! I enjoyed it.
the 2013 tomb raider is the game that got me into the games. this one is the one that makes me so nostalgic for my early teenage years. booting it up nearly ten years later im shocked at how incredible the graphics are. like the graphics hold up better in this game than many AAA games coming out today! seriously such a fun and exciting story with excellent game play and mechanics. also who doesnt love Lara? shes awesome. this game holds a special place in my heart and every time im in the snowy mountains i feel like im Lara in Sibera. 10/10 (Only note is the native people are all white with american accents??? 2015 still hand't figured out diversity hahha)
Love the gameplay mechanics. Still in the intial stages of the game. Will update once I've progressed further.
First of all, I've already played tomb raider 2013 several times and finished that game over 5 times in difficult mode. After understanding the tomb raider franchise, rise of the tomb raider is simply the best installation in this franchise. Every penny was worth it, be the story line, graphics, animation, gameplay ,everything was top tucker. Please play these kind of games instead of sticking around modern battle royale games. You will definitely like it
New content, new details, and many thing. If you want a fun game to be played, you have to play this game (sorry for my bad english, i'm not native speaker)
I have barely started, but I'm already in love! Graphics are great, and the game is smooth.
I was in need of a single player game to fill the gap and this was a good fit. I never played through this series when the games came out but they still hold up rather well. Very entertaining. Combat could be smoother, and the parkour can feel slow at times but neither are big enough issues for me to complain about. Looking forward to finishing the trilogy.
This game surpassed all my expectations and left me utterly astonished. While I had heard high praise for it, I could not have anticipated just how extraordinary it would be. Having previously experienced the first installment, Tomb Raider, I was nonetheless unprepared for the brilliance of its sequel.
To begin with, the graphics are nothing short of breathtaking—a remarkable leap forward from the prior game. Even for a title released in 2015, the visual fidelity remains exceptionally impressive. Every moment of the game was a joy to behold, and I found myself thoroughly engrossed in its captivating narrative, so much so that it demanded my full attention, even at the expense of other obligations.
The gameplay mechanics, while largely consistent with the first installment, felt refined and polished. For those familiar with its predecessor, I recommend experiencing this sequel on a higher difficulty level, as the enemies on standard settings are rather easy to overcome.
This game is deserving of nothing less than 5/4.8 stars—a truly remarkable creation that I believe is essential for any gamer’s collection. However, I strongly encourage newcomers to begin with the original Tomb Raider to fully appreciate the story’s progression and depth.
Great game, I really enjoyed it. However, it wasn't as consuming as the first part for me. After finishing this game, I didn't feel the need to come back and complete all the challenges and search for all the objects.
Still had a lot of fun, and I would like to play the game again on a harder setting someday.
Great game. True to the character of Croft, The action is a satisfying. Graphics hold up well under modern counterparts. Runs smooth.
Rise of the Tomb Raider runs perfectly well on the Macbook Pro M4 Pro. Really fun game and easy to pick up the controls of the game. The story is interesting and the graphics are awesome.
GOOD: Game on its own is ok, somewhat fun, graphics are ok too.
BAD: Story is basic. Characters are not remarkable. Even the main character - no chemistry. Dialogues are as basic as the story. Music is mediocre.
My suggestion to the developer - the game costs many millions of $, spend on writers.
It's a fun game that u can enjoy the scenery and story, just buy the base game
I am not a combat girlie but am an avid Lara Croft Fan so I've been enjoying that there are different levels of combat difficulty. I'm on adventure mode and it's super fun!
Had a lot of potential early on, but I just gave up half-way through out of sheer boredom. The "open-world" design is just Ubisoft-esque 'collect all of these pointless trinkets for incredibly mediocre rewards' style tedium, the puzzles are all simplistic and have one single correct solution (no creativity allowed), the combat is dull. The crafting system is more or less mandatory, but also manages to be incredibly tedious and largely unwelcome. I can't even bring myself to finish this for the sake of completion.
Fantastic game. runs so smooth on my 4060 plays great with Lara
acceptable graphics, good survival gameplay ,although its not challenging.
good game overall
Played this great game for "free" nearly ten years ago in a very boring time of my life, and I hold this game dear for being there to save me from dying of boredom. Saying that, it's still a decent game worth exploring and trying the achievements if you want to, but it will take too much time and annoying online quests!
Rise of the Tomb Raider is an excellent evolution of the rebooted Tomb Raider series. Mechanically, it's a step up in almost every way—combat feels tighter, crafting is more engaging, and the puzzle-solving elements feel more refined and rewarding. The game delivers on its promise of a cinematic, action-packed adventure with breathtaking visuals, fluid controls, and plenty of content to keep you exploring for hours.
That said, on a personal note, I found myself missing the lush, dense jungle settings of the first game. The snowy Siberian wilderness is gorgeous and atmospheric, but it didn’t quite capture my imagination in the same way. Of course, this is just a matter of personal preference, and the game absolutely delivers an immersive environment—it just happens to be a frosty one this time around.
Overall, if you’re a fan of Lara Croft’s adventures or enjoy well-crafted action games, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a no-brainer. Just be ready to trade tropical ruins for snow-covered peaks.
fantastic game. runs so smooth on my 4060. plays great with the MANBA pad.
this game takes things to the next level with its thrilling gameplay and well-designed mechanics. the visuals will blow you away, and the mix of combat, exploration, and puzzles will keep you hooked. It may not reinvent the genre, but it’s one that action-adventure fans shouldn’t miss. :)
Great game, visually looks amazing and the running portions are intense. In the option screen before the game launches, change it to dx12, runs better. i reccomend playing it trough atleast once!
It's a good game, entertaining and at times challenging. However, I'm not sure if it should bear the 'tomb raider' name.
Good game. Nice graphics. Good story.
A great sequel. The story is cinematic and gripping, the mechanics are good and Lara is stunning.
I like the puzzles, combat mechanics, the story, and the graphics and details. Everything is great. Wanted to play Tomb Raider games for a long time, and it delivers beyond what I expected.
“You don't know how far I've come”
It's an improvement over Tomb Raider 2013 in almost all departments, maybe except story. If you like fun action-adventure games, this is a great one to play! Apart from a few moments where Lara makes decisions like a horror movie character, it is a good and fun game overall.
Graphics are really good, gameplay is fun, music is great, and Lara is likeable as ever (imo).
Gets a 9/10 from me.
I played mainly on my Steamdeck OLED, run very smooth. I did not have a chance played when its released but with the Steamdeck, I had experienced a very great gameplay.
I found this is the best overall in the trilogy from gameplay, graphic, level design and story. I hope they could make more Tomb Raider games!
Rise of the Tomb Raider is a tragic example of a once-glorious franchise stumbling into the abyss of mediocrity, laden with QTEs that are as annoying as a swarm of pesky mosquitoes at a picnic. The game's open world is as grindy as a teenager's teeth on a piece of gum, stretching the player's patience thinner than a cheap pair of tights.
The dialogue in this mess is about as deep as a puddle on a sidewalk after a light drizzle, with characters spouting off one-liners that make you cringe harder than stepping on a Lego in the dark. And don't even get me started on the helicopter boss fight, a monstrous abomination that crashes into the game like an uninvited party guest who thinks they're the life of the party. It's a painful, drawn-out affair that makes you wish for the sweet release of the game crashing to the desktop.
This game is a slog, folks. A slog through a terrible, terrible open world filled with pointless collectibles and side missions that feel as rewarding as watching paint dry. The story is as coherent as a politician's Twitter feed, and the QTEs are so poorly implemented you'll be mashing buttons like you're trying to win a prize in a rigged arcade game. The game's protagonist, Lara Croft, once a symbol of gaming heroism, now feels like a cardboard cutout with all the personality of a soggy cornflake.
In conclusion, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a sad trombone solo in the symphony of video games. Avoid it like you would a spoiler for your favorite show. Just don't bother. It's a tomb that should have stayed buried.
I just want to confirm that this is indeed a good Tomb Raider game :)
If you liked previous Tomb Raider from 2013 then this is basically the same thing but with better graphics and different (not really better) story. They simply improved many small things here and there while not breaking anything :)
The Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great continuation of the series. The story is great and the game looks amazing.
I am not a fan of having to do forced Co op missions in a single player game. Annoying and pointless.
Onto the next one.....
If you liked Tomb Raider (2013), this is more of the same. If you didn't, there's nothing new here that'll change your opinion.
If you are a completionist, unless you like grinding stupid challenge modes A LOT, avoid this game, 'cause you'll hate it.
All that said, this game does what it says on the tin and does it reasonably competently. It's... *fine*. The story is fine, the graphics are fine, the music is fine, the gameplay is fine etc. Don't get me wrong, it's a solid experience (at least, solid as AAA gets these days). I had fun. But it's also nothing new. It's certainly no Portal, Kerbal Space Program etc.
All that said, while most of the puzzles are a little short-n-simple, there's a few so absurdly convoluted that you're most likely gonna be looking up a walkthrough.
The story was meh. Was not really a wow moment for me. Just a typical puzzle game sometimes it gets annoying but overall would recommend buy when on sale and you have nothing else to play.
Don't expect memorable story, interesting characters or good music, because these things are nonexistant here. But the gameplay manages to hold one's attention until the very end. I would give a middle thumb if I could
What an amazing game!
The storyline is very well written and the action drives you through many intense moments.
I enjoyed every second of this game. No.. I loved every second of this game!
CONS: has a bunch of bugs :) but none of them serious enough to force me to restart from a checkpoint, or block me from achieving a mission or challenge.
Oh, and some collectibles were impossible for me to find them :| They appeared on map, but I couldn't find any way to reach them

Stunning visuals, smooth gameplay, and puzzles that actually make you think. Lara’s journey is worth every minute. It’s like being in your own action movie
Rise of the Tomb Raider is an absolute triumph. Crystal Dynamics has crafted a world that is both breathtakingly beautiful and full of danger. The game's Siberian setting is brought to life with stunning visuals and immersive sound design. The tombs are filled with intricate puzzles that will challenge even the most seasoned adventurer. While the combat is solid, it's the exploration and puzzle-solving that truly shine. Lara Croft's character continues to evolve, and her journey is one that will stay with you long after the credits roll. A must-play for any fan of action-adventure games.
Many things were added to the sequel game (such as a side mission, new mechanics, and great level design compared to the first game). Worth to play
Much better than the first of the trilogy which didn't have much tomb raiding or good puzzles. I like this almost as much as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but I'm partial to the jungle setting.
I wouldn't have thought the story would be for me with emotional drama, but I found it brought my walls down and made me feel things.
I hope to replay this soon.
The story is a good one. Beautiful gameplay.
Playing the trilogy now and I am enjoying every bit of it. Better than the first, but miss the rope repelling thing to easily go up the rope lines.
I love the platforming and art direction of the game, but it is ultimately lags too much especially during the combat sections, even after I've turned down the graphics to their lowest. My device more than meets the requirements to run this game so it is a bit frustrating. The controls are also a bit janky with Lara jumping sideways into an abyss or forgetting to deploy her axes during crucial moments. The story is alright, pretty predictable, from the moment Jacob showed up onscreen I knew he probably had the divine source or whatever. All things considered it's a mediocre game, but I don't think I can recommend it.
The Best of the trilogy.
Rise of the Tomb Raider brings us a survivor Lara yet fierce at times of confronting enemies. The reboot shows Lara a more simple girl struggling to step on her father's shoe to figure out who she is an archaeologist trapped in an evil world of predators, smugglers, cults and politics. well isn't it all about that? yes it is but with a twist! We grew up with Lara Croft's adventures a flawless commando not a survivor capable of almost anything almost like Sam Fisher lol. I find the trilogy reboot better in story telling especially ROTTR staying on the edge of survival and adventures not as bad ass as SOTTR and not as innocent as the first one in the series.
The gameplay is totally an improvement to its prequel, bigger environment design, better mechanics, better dialogs and character design. the only flaw is what happened to Jonah wasn't he Latino? I guess the devs still doesn't have what they want out of this character.
Let's not talk about the graphics, evolutionary in its time is best to describe it I think
Over all in my opinion the game's not a masterpiece but a totally worth it to spend a good amount of time on it and enjoy exploring the world of Tomb Raider.
Nice gameplay. Graphics is also okay for an old game.
Been waiting for ages to play this game, got the bundle and all I can say is money well spent!
Try this game and you'll not get bored!
While the visuals are very good, gameplay is boring and story is very predictable & shallow.
Could not complete it for the sake of completion.
Game #44 of My Backlog Clearing Journey
Status: Completed
It's nothing crazy, but it's a perfectly serviceable action-adventure game that actually makes meaningful improvements to the formula established by the game before it, so it gets a thumbs up in my book.
Great puzzles and the run-through scenes where you have to control Lara in certain situations were quite exhilarating, exciting and most important of all, engaging. The tomb exploration bits were a key highlight (as expected) and it all adds to the storytelling experience. Gets your blood pumping and keeps you engaged. I especially liked the stealth combat mechanics. The only "drawback" in my opinion would be the fact that the main storyline felt kind of short and the ending seemed a little rushed. Never played the first instalment so this is my first impression of the trilogy but my experience overall was good. 4/5
Rise of the Tomb Raider had me hooked! The storyline? Chef's kiss. The gameplay? A workout just watching Lara in action. It’s so satisfying to see her growing into a total badass—confident, clever, and climbing like it’s her day job. But let’s spare a moment for the Prophet… poor guy, trying to fulfill some grand purpose only to end up a plot point. Still, Lara’s got tombs to raid, puzzles to solve, and ancient mysteries to kick to the curb. Honestly, I came for the action but stayed for the drama (and the cardio I wish I could handle).
Improvement in comparison to the first entry. Story is a bit lacking, but an enjoyable experience overall. Would recommend, especially for cheap.
Horrible multiplayer experience.
I disconnect a lot so I often play offline. I didn't get credits even for completing story mode challenge/tombs, is missing out A LOT, and I lost a couple of cards too when I tried expedition.
I don't know if this issue affects everyone, but my internet is pretty damn fine. I cleared Diablo 3 hardcore and Diablo 2 Resurrected with it.
