Rise of the Tomb Raider™

I think that the fact that I have 320 hours in a linear game speaks for itself. I absolutely adore this game. It is by far my favorite of the trilogy. It expands nicely on the story and the mechanics of the first one without tripping on itself like the second one does. Very good game, either on it's own or as a sequel to Tomb Raider (2013).

Good old fashioned semi-open world linear story. Perfect balance between depth and length of the game. Gameplay is smooth and the story is good.

Good game, probably 7.5 - 8 / 10. Some graphics issues on PC with the textures (black patches on land or faces) when everything is maxed out, but if you mess around with the graphics settings enough you will eventually find how it goes away (or if you're better at search than me, do that).

Fantastic adventure game with fun puzzles and thrilling combat. Everything feels very cinematic and the gameplay is polished. Crazy to think that the game is already 9 years old.

Honestly didn’t think I’d get this hooked. Compared to the 2013 reboot, this one feels like it found its rhythm—less “survival horror,” more “Indiana Jones with a bow and a backpack.”

Exploration is super rewarding. The tombs? Finally feel like actual tombs—clever puzzles, atmospheric design, and just the right amount of challenge. Combat’s fun, stealth is viable, and the gear upgrades make sense without feeling too grindy (unless you’re going for 100%).

Story’s decent—not mind-blowing, but enough to keep me invested in Lara’s journey. Visually, it still looks amazing, even years after release.

If you're into adventure games with a mix of puzzles, action, and exploration, this is a solid pick. Better than I expected—and one of the stronger entries in the series.

Very good game and story. It's not as good as Tomb Raider, but a worthy successor.

This is a classic game and should be really enjoyed by everyone that loves adventure games

My favourite of the trilogy, Its the Arkham city of the Batman Arkham trilogy, It grabbed what was great about the original and made it better in pretty much every way. Combat and gameplay imo is far superior to the uncharted games and has a great story.

The story, graphics, and sounds feel good.
The environment feels awesome.
The main story is good. DLC is just DLC — it adds playtime, but I don’t know why they want to add so many modes and side DLCs.
But the main game is amazing overall, and it’s really good.

Get it on sale and you’re good!

Lara’s not just surviving anymore, she’s chasing something bigger.
From frozen peaks to ancient tombs buried in Siberian ice, the world is stunning and harsh.
The story dives deeper into her obsession, and every step forward feels earned through cold, blood, and grit.

10/10. Would freeze, fall, and fight for the truth again.

Clunky controls, got worse for me as it progressed. Unfortunately I can't recommend this game underwhelming to say the least.

Ooooh boy! Have I ever seen a game this beautiful in stereoscopic 3D before? Every gamer deserves to experience this level of immersion in 3D. Honestly, every game should aim for visuals like these in S3D. Absolutely stunning!

The open world feels more vivid and varied, and the balance between action, exploration and puzzles is exceptionally well done.

Perfect game. 9.95/10 would be my mark. I deduct 0.05 because you will be forced to use the Fast Travel if you want to travel between some regions. Most of them are connected but there are some exceptions. But this is minor and rather a subjective preference. Graphics, Story, Mechanics, Difficulty, Soundtrack, Map, Puzzles, Weapons and basically anything else I can think of is 10/10, perfect rating. One of the best games of all time. I completed it two times on PC, on Seasoned Rider and then Extreme Survivor (the most difficult + no natural instincts). To say that I highly recommend it is not enough. I don't really have anything to complain about.

Had higher expectations. The game is okay'ish. My problem with it is that it seems glitchy. Even when you should do something/ are doing something the game is just like nah, that's not it. Its also quite non intuitive and the exploration is pretty boring very early on. Repetitive and lacks interesting stuff. Its the same gimmick over and over, and often times the map tells you exactly where it is, and mostly its just filler, seems like either the exact same or parallel. The hidden locations and explorable environment, has the same general aesthetics and the same general proprietary conditions, making it feel repetitive.

The weaponry and the mechanics are quite stupid. It has a skill mechanic for unnecessary stuff, as well as loot environment that is pretty illogical and redundant. Weapons don't damage a whole lot and while you can upgrade it, other parts of the game suffers.

Puzzles and other exploratory game aspects it pretty misplaced and repetitive as-well. Again it seems more like filler than anything else, is at times super non intuitive or buggy, also the parkour/ climbing is very visually eye-striking more or less given away immediately.

Its a story driven game and not open world, but the open world segments has things you cant explore because you don't have access to some things that early in the game, forcing you to revisit places for apparently no good reason. It is at times just a parallel Indiana Jones universe/ game.

Both the new Indiana Jones game and this title, has such an annoying thing with, the antagonist being right behind you at all times. You get to a point by erudite, scholarly breadth, and then boom, the stupid antagonist got there right after or at the same time. SOOOOO predictable and renders the prowess of the protagonist to be.... hmm, useless.

I tried to like it and be hmm, just a little more time spent and i will get hooked, not having to force myself to play it, but at this time i have put it on the shelf. Usually with good titles i am hooked, so much i don't even think of playing other games and if i cant get into the game its usually for far different reasons. With AC Odyssey it was hard to get into initially because it was so vast you got overwhelmed, not because it was bad, uninteresting or other. But this game is off the mark.

Had to watch tutorials way too much where sometimes it was a timing or bug that made my attempt not succeed. Also in the tutorials i saw that it wasn't me who was stupid, because the tutorials were riddled with failed attempts too, due to wonky mechanics

Don't think i will come back to this title or similar titles in the future.

I bought this for €4.49, so it was absolutely worth it. Since I already enjoy the franchise and this type of games in general, I was pretty sure I’d like it. I love exploring the map, noticing every little detail, and going for 100% completion.

That said, I do agree with some of the comments pointing out how frustrating it can be to miss collectibles just because you don’t yet have the required gear. I spent around 1,5 hours combing through a specific area, only to find out later that I couldn’t get everything at that point anyway.

Another thing that really started to bother me after finishing the game was how unclear some areas of the map are in terms of accessibility. Sometimes it looks like a document or relic should be reachable from a nearby checkpoint—like you just need to climb a ledge or get over a wall—but nope. Turns out you have to take a long, roundabout route through an entirely different entrance to the region just to get to that one collectible. It gets frustrating when you're trying to 100% the game and end up wandering in circles for something that seemed so close.

But I get it—the developers probably designed it that way to encourage more exploration and to stretch out the play time a bit.

Overall, despite the occasional annoyances, it’s still a great way to spend your free time. I’d definitely recommend it to my friends.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is one of the best gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Stunning graphics, an engaging story, smooth gameplay, and beautifully diverse environments kept me hooked from start to finish. Lara Croft is at her absolute best in this installment. I feel like the previous game is so much better than this one. The gameplay doesnt feel like the 2013 tomb raider.

This game is just Lara running and jumping through 10 million simultaneous Hiroshima Nagasaki level A-Bomb explosions unscathed while the ground and walls are crumbling down. It's ok I guess. Will not recommend tho.

Good game. Although someone strong like Lara deserves some muscles but she looks like full beauty parlour lady. Hardest difficulty feels over-punishing for savespots. Great graphics, great gameplay. 3.5/5

This game is straight rubbish. the combat is ridiculous and the mission design is atrocious! There is an under water stealth mission in here that is going to frustrate you to no end. You'll remember these words when you play it. Don't buy - try it if it is free.

Rise of the Tomb Raider picks on the good things of Tomb Raider and just plays with them, which is what we like to see! More of the good stuff that made the game good!
HOWEVER, we're now introducing scavenging and resource gathering and exploration in a not-so-open open-world; it's not too bad but it takes you away from the arcade-y vibe of the first game.
Plus, there's cards (?) that are probably only for multiplayer but they felt very weird since the first game was so fleshed out.
In any case, it's not a bad game and it's still very much enjoyable

not much to say about the game, besides it being totally epic. loved the sense of being open world exploration even tho the game is very linear. loved receiving new gear and upgrades until the final chapter. made it worth seeing it thru to the end.

Definitely an improvement over the 2013 reboot! The story is more interesting (although predictable) and the maps are more interesting to explore. I completed 100% of the game + the DLCs (Baba Yaga and Blood Ties) and had a great time! I only didn't platinum it because I refuse to platinum games that require you to replay on a higher difficulty or that give achievements for playing multiplayer.

I absolutely LOVE "Rise of The Tomb Raider"

This game always had a special place in my heart. I still remember playing it for the first time when I was a kid, and it's beauty amazes me to this day.

The gameplay itself is pretty much the same as in every "Tomb Raider": some climbing, gathering resources, killing animals, killing enemies, solving puzzles, REPEAT. But don't get me wrong - the game does not get boring though being a bit repetitive, because: every part of the map is different.
The graphics are beautiful, reflections clear and smooth, locations feel alive, and they are PACKED with collectibles and items that let you uncover more history while you travel through.
Lara's movement and animations were strongly improved compared to the "Tomb Raider " from 2015.
Whole story comes together really well and even has some plot twists.
And the "Baba Yaga" DLC is worth mentioning too, as it feels like a completly separate game :))

Okay so first thing first... I'm totally biased towards the game, the "Tomb Raider" series has to be my favourite game series of all time. So we will talk about the pros first and of course there are few cons too, just one or two.

PROS: This game's atmosphere is stunning you know things are serious when everything is dark and serious kind of tone. The world building is amazing, when the game starts we are in Syria exploring a tomb which was perfect and then the snowy mountains where it became even better, the swimming into shallow waters and drowning the enemy was perfect. The gun-play became more better and the tomb puzzles became even tougher and the puzzles were very well curated, this time the dev's gave us more freedom with the weapons customization, the weapon upgrade system and the crafting was well detailed. The combat was engaging and the side characters were fascinating, the voice acting was fabulous and the cinematic cut-scenes were amazing because the graphics was better in this game compared to the last one. The story is also very well written and the progression feels smoother and not rushed. The villain in this game had a better story and background and felt stronger compared to the last one who was just a "cultist". Overall the game was fantastic and so enjoyable you would love every moment in the game because the world is so gorgeous it's worth exploring. And the dlc "Baba Yaga" was a chef's kiss, perfect dlc.

CONS: Last game "Tomb Raider 2013" you would have instantly felt an attachment toward Lara and would enjoy the emotions the character brings forward but in this game, I've played more than 40 hrs and still didn't feel the same attachment towards the character as I felt instantly in the previous game.. now that maybe subjective, but while everything around Lara changed and became more better and compelling she on the other hand remained same,, there was no character growth overall. What actually happened was that she lost more of her emotions, like in first game Lara cried, showed frustration which made her character show more depth but in this game it's very shallow, maybe because she became more strong with time, with the losses she overcame but seeing Lara all serious and show so little emotions just didn't feel right. Now this is all subjective and maybe it's all in my head but yeah that was all.
Great game 10/10.

It's a Single Player experience! If that does not float your boat, then don't buy it.

It's story driven, and fairly linear with a smattering of open-world(iness). If you're looking for full-on open-world, do what you like , when you like,...don't buy it.

It's full of Croftiness!!! What's not to like? Unadulterated, single player, story-driven, shoot, jump, swing, climb, sneak, etc, etc, etc. It's like an action movie that you play.

This is the type of game that most people need when they just want to switch off a little and have gotten a little stagnant in their usual gaming repertoire. For those of you who have never experienced the treasure that is Lara Croft, Oh boy, you don't know what you're missing. It's nearly ten years old, so grab it on a discount and stick it in your library for a rainy day. You won't regret it!!

I bought all (3) Games On Sale, but I'm Playing them 'Out of Order' : I started with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, then moved onto Tomb Raider & now finally I'm playing 'Rise of the Tomb Raider'. This game is Action packed & Thrilling as the other (2) with a Rich backstory!!

great game and was honeslty a great upgrade from the first one in everything. Some of it was pretty cluncky but other than that it was a enjoyable and I will do everything at some point lol.

Even though I played both Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I found myself drawn to this game a lot even after completing it and the dlc.

It is packed with game modes and extra content, but I dislike that certain achivements are locked behind playing duo.

Loved every second of it (10/10).

Great game, good story and it's got Lara...what's not to like.
NOT recommended for the Steam Deck, this game's visual style and graphics need a proper monitor or a TV screen to come to life.

I played at 45 FPS on Steam Deck which was easily is achievable by tinkering a few graphical settings.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is an amazing game, best of the franchsie with thrilling experience, story, puzzles, visuals, it has everything. It's a must play for sure !

Great game, as good as I remember. Replaying it on the steam deck.

I wish there was something in between thumbs up and thumbs down. This game has some good points to it but it's downfall are the semi-open world areas. They are too big and aren't really full of anything interesting. The cutscenes are long and the trinity leader's voice acting is terrible.

In addition, there are some late game enemies that should be far more difficult than anything you've faced before based on the lore of the game......Well, they aren't.

The shop is dumb, too. I have no idea why that was shoehorned into the game, as if some enemy guy would setup a shop to sell things to the random locals who found him... and somehow he only takes payment in ancient coins. Stupid.

Also the side missions suck.

Game looks great and the mechanics are good, i just can't recommend it cause it's not really fun at times.

Always have been fan of the franchise, great game - always seen as "like uncharted" but I like to think that it is almost at the same level as the uncharted series and has its own personality as a franchise

Don't know why took me this long to play the game. Have only completed 15% so far but it is so thrilling! Loved every second of it!
