Okay so first thing first... I'm totally biased towards the game, the "Tomb Raider" series has to be my favourite game series of all time. So we will talk about the pros first and of course there are few cons too, just one or two.
PROS: This game's atmosphere is stunning you know things are serious when everything is dark and serious kind of tone. The world building is amazing, when the game starts we are in Syria exploring a tomb which was perfect and then the snowy mountains where it became even better, the swimming into shallow waters and drowning the enemy was perfect. The gun-play became more better and the tomb puzzles became even tougher and the puzzles were very well curated, this time the dev's gave us more freedom with the weapons customization, the weapon upgrade system and the crafting was well detailed. The combat was engaging and the side characters were fascinating, the voice acting was fabulous and the cinematic cut-scenes were amazing because the graphics was better in this game compared to the last one. The story is also very well written and the progression feels smoother and not rushed. The villain in this game had a better story and background and felt stronger compared to the last one who was just a "cultist". Overall the game was fantastic and so enjoyable you would love every moment in the game because the world is so gorgeous it's worth exploring. And the dlc "Baba Yaga" was a chef's kiss, perfect dlc.
CONS: Last game "Tomb Raider 2013" you would have instantly felt an attachment toward Lara and would enjoy the emotions the character brings forward but in this game, I've played more than 40 hrs and still didn't feel the same attachment towards the character as I felt instantly in the previous game.. now that maybe subjective, but while everything around Lara changed and became more better and compelling she on the other hand remained same,, there was no character growth overall. What actually happened was that she lost more of her emotions, like in first game Lara cried, showed frustration which made her character show more depth but in this game it's very shallow, maybe because she became more strong with time, with the losses she overcame but seeing Lara all serious and show so little emotions just didn't feel right. Now this is all subjective and maybe it's all in my head but yeah that was all.
Great game 10/10.
It's a Single Player experience! If that does not float your boat, then don't buy it.
It's story driven, and fairly linear with a smattering of open-world(iness). If you're looking for full-on open-world, do what you like , when you like,...don't buy it.
It's full of Croftiness!!! What's not to like? Unadulterated, single player, story-driven, shoot, jump, swing, climb, sneak, etc, etc, etc. It's like an action movie that you play.
This is the type of game that most people need when they just want to switch off a little and have gotten a little stagnant in their usual gaming repertoire. For those of you who have never experienced the treasure that is Lara Croft, Oh boy, you don't know what you're missing. It's nearly ten years old, so grab it on a discount and stick it in your library for a rainy day. You won't regret it!!
Recommended!
Good continuation from the first game, nice and engaging story.
Familiar mechanics were refined and good new additions were implemented.
amazing graphics, amazing story and amazing details in the game. Can not wait to finish it!!

Yes Indeed, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND this Game!!
I bought all (3) Games On Sale, but I'm Playing them 'Out of Order' : I started with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, then moved onto Tomb Raider & now finally I'm playing 'Rise of the Tomb Raider'. This game is Action packed & Thrilling as the other (2) with a Rich backstory!!
great game and was honeslty a great upgrade from the first one in everything. Some of it was pretty cluncky but other than that it was a enjoyable and I will do everything at some point lol.
Even though I played both Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, I found myself drawn to this game a lot even after completing it and the dlc.
It is packed with game modes and extra content, but I dislike that certain achivements are locked behind playing duo.
Loved every second of it (10/10).
8/10
Great game, good story and it's got Lara...what's not to like.
NOT recommended for the Steam Deck, this game's visual style and graphics need a proper monitor or a TV screen to come to life.
I played at 45 FPS on Steam Deck which was easily is achievable by tinkering a few graphical settings.
um jogo sólido, uma continuação digna para o remake de 2013 mas também nada muito excepcional, especial ou algum tipo de destaque.
Really good game.
Played on hardest and the only difference I notice is how annoying it is to be back in campfire every time you die
Rise of the Tomb Raider is an amazing game, best of the franchsie with thrilling experience, story, puzzles, visuals, it has everything. It's a must play for sure !
Great game, as good as I remember. Replaying it on the steam deck.
I wish there was something in between thumbs up and thumbs down. This game has some good points to it but it's downfall are the semi-open world areas. They are too big and aren't really full of anything interesting. The cutscenes are long and the trinity leader's voice acting is terrible.
In addition, there are some late game enemies that should be far more difficult than anything you've faced before based on the lore of the game......Well, they aren't.
The shop is dumb, too. I have no idea why that was shoehorned into the game, as if some enemy guy would setup a shop to sell things to the random locals who found him... and somehow he only takes payment in ancient coins. Stupid.
Also the side missions suck.
Game looks great and the mechanics are good, i just can't recommend it cause it's not really fun at times.
Always have been fan of the franchise, great game - always seen as "like uncharted" but I like to think that it is almost at the same level as the uncharted series and has its own personality as a franchise
Don't know why took me this long to play the game. Have only completed 15% so far but it is so thrilling! Loved every second of it!
amazing gameplay and story . puzzles and mechanics are gripping too
Peep how all the positive reviews rarely surpass 20h and look at my playtime. I was going to recommend it because it's a really good game, but the team that did the "gamification" needs to suffer a tedious demise. Add on top of that the complete idiot that designed the achievements requiring you to grind for over 100h from what it seems like, replaying the same levels to get a gold score for which you need expendable multiplier cards etc etc. Wish I had realized this before having my 1st playthrough be on "Extreme Survivor" which forces you to replay game progress from the last campsite save, effectively limiting daring exploration which is essential in a game like this. Wish I'd have played on Survivor then speedran it on Extreme Survivor but anyway, that would have only been a single achievement. I've 100% the game and I'm at 50% achievements with at least a dozen being things I'd never would have done if I didn't look them up as achievements. That pretty much says it all. The game "achieves" to make me concede not being able to 100% it. They can have that, I'm good. Got better stuff to do. The welcome has been overstayed by a whole lot.
I will add that there are a few DLC and game modes that actually extend the gameplay outside the base game by natural means.. "Expenditions" add a survival element with heat and hunger in a randomized map and it's definitely worth an extra 10-20h in itself. Base game is about 30h, 40+ if you're naive like me and go in blind on hardest difficulty.
On a normal mode, this game is chill. Good combat. Mechanics and graphics are smooth. The storyline and voice acting are top notch!
Very good game. Its polished well enough. But not better than Tomb Raider 2013. This game still have little things missing but its still a amazing game.
Я играю в томб райдер 5 лет ето для меня часть просто имба сюжет интересний паркур хороший спасиба за ето шедевр
To be honest, I really tried to like this game, I saw the reviews for it and was expecting much more, I quite enjoyed the previous one (2013 version) but was left nonetheless disappointed. The story felt boring and couldn't wait to finish it, but Jacob carried it a little bit, he was a cutie.
The game improves on its predecessor in every way and the pace is really fun. The graphics and overall gameplay hold up well even years later, and it is definitely worth picking it up on sale. Had a blast exploring and there were a few neat twists in the story.
I just finished playing through the main story line completely on Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon. My verdict: Excellent story, great voice acting, intuitive mechanics/gameplay, stunning visuals, and runs flawlessly on Linux. Thank you Crystal Dynamics, Eidos, Feral Interactive and Nixxes for making this happen!
Really good story, really fun to ply. I wish it was longer
This is a good classic story adventure triple a game.
This game kept all the basics what a story game should have.
However, that was just it.
Nothing much different from the first series.
It felt like doing side quests and raiding optional tombs weren't worth it.
With the eyes I now have in 2025, this game is good enough but no better than that.
This game did keep me hooked into the game for a while.
Maybe it's because I'm old But I had to half-force myself to play it till the very end.
Overall 7/10.
Hey dears, I just started playing the game, I saved at a spot where all my arrows are gone and I can’t find anything to build new ones. It’s to kill the bear. Do I have to start a new game or is there any other way?
Thanks in advance
This is straight up one of the best story game i have ever played omfg
I wish the platforming was more engaging and challenging, but fun experience nonetheless
The improvement from previous is optical with some new crafting element, its definitely fun to play with!
For me, this was the first game from the Reboot that I played. Got it as the Ultimate Edition on sale, best choice ever.
Main Story is aight, tombs are nice and everything but what really did it for me were the extra modes.
Cold Darkness is honestly one of the best horror-ish Zombie modes I've ever played, and trying to beat my record in endurance still keeps me having fun in an almost 10 year old game.
In my Opinion, ROTTR is much better than SOTTR, as Shadow lacked the extras and replayability. Just doing tombs or trying to beat my record time in the story doesn't sound all that exciting.
So, Rise of the Tomb Raider remains the best one from the Survivor Trilogy for me.
I would rate the game a 7/10. Never played a game before where i constantly had to go look for video's to solve a mission/challenge which kind of sucks. I liked the graphic and storyline however.
Gran juego, con muy buena duración, muy entretenido y con una historia atrapante. De a ratos muy intenso y disfrutable. Thumbs up!
This was a good game but i think that the first one was better overall.
First, the obvious things; The game is extremely immersive, even more so than the first, and it looks phenomenal and runs great for how it looks. There's still barely any HUD at all which i still am very happy about. the environments are still the best part of the game.
The game starts of great, setting up a good mystery and giving you a great view and a great touch of the immersion to come. so good in fact, i fully completed the first open area because i wanted to spend some more time immersing myself in the wilderness.
I found the progression in this game to be still pretty good, but a step down from the first. My review of the previous game praised the character development of lara, being a core element of the progression. that is largely gone here, which is sad to see but understandable. gameplay wise they still provide you with various new things throughout the game but much more spread out than the first. the weapon upgrade system is a downgrade, now being just stat boosts. the skill trees are not very interesting, since some are just the same from the first game, and others provide unnoticeable stat boosts. they also try to do a shop system where you can unlock new gear, but going through the game in a linear manner doesnt give you enough for any of it, basically discarding the whole system for those who just like to go through the campaign.
the overall gunplay and combat feels better now, especially the sound design and impact from bullets, even if it isnt as good as other games. its still quite 'soft' id say.
Something i found great in the first game was the amount of set pieces and the variety in them. And though it sucks to say, they are worse here. they are fewer and further between, and pretty much all of them consists of running while things fall around you or bullets are being fired.
the story is told in a similar manner to the first, having both a mystery to be told and a story of the characters. basically, theres the Tomb story and the Raider story. so how is it?
Its just ok. nothing more, nothing less. it has some good moments, and then some mediocre ones, and then some predictable ones. It evens out to what i consider to be just okay.
one thing i was surprised to find is that the game is surprisingly buggy. 'most' of it doesn't affect gameplay,
but there's a ton of bugs wehter that be clipping, floating, a certain item you get flickering and not working whatsoever on the visual side, or enemies spawning right in front of you and being flung at the speed of light when you kill them. theres alot here and there thats definitely noticeable.
as a side note - turn off teselation as it produces some pretty major visual bugs.
Heres some other random thoughts;
- The last few combat sections are pretty damn bad. they try something new and it just doesnt pay off, id rather have just shot some guys than whatvever that was.
- The dlc 'baba yaga' was pretty horrible and i recommend skipping it.
- weapon upgrading at the later stage of the game becomes another target of having to go out of your way to progress since it requires exotic pelt, and from there on i didnt upgrade another weapon.
- the major plot twist in the game is very predictable.
- optional tombs feel worthwhile due them often rewarding new skills
- the puzzles are too easy
Overall i give it an 8/10 because it does some things better than the first, mostly in way of the core gameplay experience, but lacks some more meat on the bones in the campaign itself.
A great sequel to a great first game. Combat could be better. Puzzles were on point. Story was fantastic. Crafting could be better. More versatility on the skill tree. More variety in stealth would have been nice. Overall a great experience.
i want to love this game, the mechanicsw have so much potential, but holy fuck this game is buggy. Constant default posing enemies, janky ass puzles and playforming in general (that one boat tomb and that one document in the baba yaga dlc) and in the end of the game lara froze in place multiple times and no mater what buttons I pushed it didn't work. I had to drop the game because it couldn't function properly. This game somehow manages to be buggier than the first game, without enough improvements for it to be tolerable. I didn't have this problem on console, so if you wanna play the game, i'd reccomend buying for a console.
Pretty good. Plays nice, and it's not bloated. Very reasonable length, it's focused and it delivers. Graphically it shows that it's not the newest game but gameplay-wise it's really good.
Massive graphical upgrade from Tomb Raider(2013), with some new mechanics and crafting system. I admired the visuals in both SOTTR and ROTTR, but I prefer this game’s overall atmosphere. The gameplay is easy to pick up, and not sure if it's me overcoming my own skill issues or the game being more intuitive, tracking challenges and collectibles feels smoother than before. The puzzles are satisfying and rewarding. 10/10
Game is great, Has great detail and lots of puzzles to solve. I miss the Triangles, Other than that It has a good story
Good game which performs better than Tomb Raider, i can recommend
Replayed this game after many years. Remember playing in Xbox 360. A timeless master piece. Graphics, mechanics, story and optimization is excellent, Tomb raider gamed are the is the best female protagonist games in my opinion. Original Tomb raider is still my favorite, but this one is also amazing. A Must Recommend Game !
The Tomb Raider Reboot Trilogy is essentially The Dark Knight trilogy of the TR franchise, & Rise of the Tomb Raider is arguably the best Tomb Raider game of all time. Great gameplay, breathtaking graphics on the level of The Last of Us & Uncharted, an outstanding story & an absurd level of detail.
Nothing more to say other then I love this game. The story is better then the last and the visuals are amazing.
Probably the best of the 3 games, even though all of them are 11/10, so theres really no difference. The balance between combat and puzzles is perfect. Storyline is insanely good.
Very fun and adventures game for action seekers. I really love the video scenes and the storyline
Great game but wtf were they doing with the weird DLC add ons. Feels like developers pet projects shoved into the game to make money. Doesn't take anything away from the actual game but still weird.
Great story and gameplay. Glad I finally got to play it.
What a masterpiece. It takes everything the already great Tomb Raider reboot did and pushes it to a whole new level. Well written story and characters, beautiful and diverse world, the exploration and specifically the optional tombs are really memorable, gameplay is much deeper with more tools and weapons and finally graphics that look way ahead of their time. Must own
Tomb Raider 2013 had some of the best gunplay I have ever experienced. Sharp, impactful, snappy and fun. Rise gunplay felt squishy and not fun at all. I really did not enjoy the game. The game is flat, the story is boring, Tomb Raider 2013 made me want to research more about Yamatai, this game I don't even remember the story properly. Tomb's are boring. Crafting and such are just methods to bloat the game.
Graphically one of the best games I have ever seen... but that is it.
I usually enjoy the best story-driven and adventure games, especially those with nail-biting action scenes and thrilling journeys. If you love such role-playing games, I can confidently say you'll love the journey of Lara Croft. This game never gets boring for me—I’ve played it countless times and still enjoy it just as much. The action, puzzles, and exploration keep me hooked every time. Definitely a must-play for adventure game fans!
