Riser builds on its predecessor with gorgeous environments, fluid combat, and rewarding exploration. The mix of stealth, action, and puzzles feels refined, and Lara’s character development is solid. While the story is predictable, the gameplay more than makes up for it. A must-play for action-adventure fans.
This game is just straight fire! 9 years later but the quality can still be compared from newer games. I know Lara breasts somehow reduced here but who cares when the game, the puzzle and everything included in this game was on another level and that's what I love about this game. 11/10!
Great visuals, good story and acting, has great balance between exploration and combat, side content is pretty good and offers more insights to the story.
Overall, awesome game with some replay value. Liked the game so much currently trying to beat on hardest difficulty.
This is definitely a good game. The graphics are still holding up, and the landscapes are nicely designed—it really feels like you're exploring a cinematic world. However, the game introduces some unnecessary mechanics, like having to craft ammunition and equipment, which honestly just bloat the overall experience and kinda ruin it. Also, without the DLC and the material-gathering side tasks, you could probably finish the game in about 3 hours - with another 3 hours spent gathering, and not to mention another 3 hours collecting lore if that's something you want. It even throws in fetch-quests that together with having to collect materials seem like an attempt to mimic popular(?) open-world games, even though Tomb Raider isn’t (and shouldn’t be) an open-world title. The DLC is quite okay, and you probably won't notice you're playing it until halfway through, when you start feeling a little sidetracked. All in all, it's a fun adventure if you're into that kind of thing, but I'd only pick it up on sale.
I think this is the best modern Tomb Raider game. It has everything good about the first in the new trilogy, and less of the bad.
I've played this one right after finishing the first game of the trilogy. Rise of the Tomb Raider is a great successor and a clear improvement of the same formula. The story, to be honest, is quite predictable and at times borderline cliche, however I didn't mind. The action is gripping, and the visuals are gorgeous. I only gave up on game's many collectibles, but I generally don't like them in games. Overall - a very enjoyable experience. Recommended.
Gameplay - 7/10
Story - 6/10
Graphics - 8/10
Bugs/Technical - 6/10
Total - 6/10
the overall game is great but the last 2 boss fights sucked, it's surprisingly easy but super annoying
My biggest gripe with this game is that the controls are often unresponsive and sometimes Lara does not control well at all.
Many of the "high anxiety" moments in the story are a result of the aforementioned controls hindering your ability to react in the way the game requires you to during these moments. When Lara's controls do work the way they need to, the game plays normally and it isn't anything special, but moment-to-moment gameplay still feels off. The best way I can describe it is by saying that Lara feels slippery. Others may prefer the way she handles, but it isn't my cup of tea.
There are glitches in the game that hinder the gameplay, but nothing game breaking (that I have found). The most recent one that comes to mind is on the Zipline immediately after the Icy Bluff campfire. Rather than grabbing onto the indicated ledge, Lara throws her grapple axe and I hang there in mid-air, unable to do anything except let go and fall to my death.
I have one other gripe with consistency in mechanics, but I won't say to much about that, as it is likely I just don't understand the nuance in usage. The game gives you a grappling item and indicates when it is applicable to use that item, but using that item in similar circumstances outside the prescribed setting leads to an unsuccessful application. From my position, the game conflicts with its own prescriptions in a frustrating way.
Lastly, here are a few small complaints: the character upgrades feel lackluster; altering your mouse and look sensitivity doesn't seem to alter the zoom sensitivity; the story has moments where it seems artificial, likely owing to some questionable line-delivery; finding a point-of-interest you can't explore yet is indicated on the map, but it is grayed out as if it were already explored; if you pick up an throwable item and expend your resources to craft either a Molotov/Explosive out of a(n) bottle/empty can, then there is a chance that the crafted item will despawn out of your hand if it travels too far from its origin location, which means you wasted resources and got nothing in return.
Edit: I would characterize this issues to be minor is the grand scheme of the game, but nonetheless, they were issues I encountered during my experience and they were an overall hindrance to my enjoyment.
These issues come from my experience, but your experience may differ from mine. Overall, the story is passably good, the exploration is great, and the game is beautiful.
Would I recommend this game? That depends.
IF there is a good sale on this game, then I recommend it. I bought this game for about $6 USD and at that price point, this game is money well spent, and is the sole reason I gave this game a thumbs up. Personally, I would hesitate recommending this to anybody if it were more than $10.
Otherwise, skip this game until it goes on sale, unless you are an avid Womb Raider fan.
This is a decent game with exploration, action, and puzzles. The graphics are good and the plot makes sense. There's a skill tree and weapons can be upgraded with materials which I prefer in games. Although I found it annoying to have to find gun parts to unlock new guns. The DLCs are fine. Lara can be dressed in different outfits with some of them having benefits. The voice acting is good. The puzzles are pretty intuitive to solve. You can explore challenge tombs to unlock additional benefits for Lara. Stealth or combat are both fun to do. I preferred the shotgun over the other weapons since the handling was best. Explosives have to be made on the spot if you find a can and have the materials available. Some scenes require quick thinking and reflexes as chaos erupts. It was funny to see Lara's hair move all the time even without wind.
Rise of the tomb raider is good game. Physics feel a bit weird and I dont think it was as good as the 1st in the trilogy, but it was enjoyable and entertaining especially if you pick it up on any sale where its like $5. The action sequences are fun and the RPG mechanics make you feel rewarded for doing extra things like optional tombs.
Holds up well for a 10 year old game. Looks clean and the controls are pretty solid. Good fast-paced action/adventure.
A fantastic sequel that improves on everything from Tomb Raider (2013). The world is bigger, the puzzles are smarter, and exploration is even more rewarding. Lara’s journey through the Siberian wilderness is stunning, with a perfect blend of action, stealth, and survival. Challenge tombs are expanded, and the crafting system adds depth.
I have played all three of the Tomb Raider Survivor trilogy (Still working on beating sottr), and these games are hands down my all time favorite. Personally, this one is the best out of the three. The graphics are good, the story is good, the combat is good, the puzzles are good, the scenery is AMAZING, and everything about this game is done so well. I cannot rave about this trilogy enough. I played this game on Xbox a few years ago and now that i have it on here i will be replaying, its def worth it. 10/10 peak game

No matter how much the game is old......its still ahead of its time ...regarding the story ...graphics ....overall etc....taste like a fine wine
I don't understand how this game went under my radar for so long since I fucking love the uncharted series. I don't think this game tops 4 or 2 but it's def worth playing. Story is decent but the combat and crafting systems are pretty fun, you also get a grapple hook so its PEAK
Definitely a step forward in every single way when compared to the original Tomb Raider reboot. Game looks like it could have released yesterday and runs like a charm with every graphics setting maxed out. Gameplay does not feel very fleshed out but I doubt that matters, its a Tomb Raider game, you are here for cinematic blockbuster set pieces and a decent story, which is exactly what you get. Exploration is definitely the highlight of this game as it expands on absolutely everything Tomb Raider 2013 did. A very good game overall and it tends to be on sale for dirt cheap basically every day of the year so its easily available to anyone. As for DLCs, only the 20 Year Celebration Pack, Cold Darkness Awakened, Baba Yaga and Endurance Mode add new content to the game, everything else is outfits and skins with different perks. Out of the 4 mentioned DLCs I recommend all of them except the Endurance Mode. Whoever developed that thing deserves to get blacklisted from every company in the games industry.
9/10
i like it but some of the npc's feel super game-y and break your immersion. but as long as you stick with the main story its good
Another tomb raider adventure true to the story, same as ever fighting gels very well with the character.
the scenes in this game are unreal i loved it so much and would def recommend it <3
Overall, this is a very well-made game. The story is engaging and had me intrigued the whole way through. The combat is fun, offering lots of choices in how you engage the enemies. Also, the puzzles are well-conceived and feel satisfying to complete.
My main quibble with this game is the RPG/skill tree system. I felt like it didn't really matter how I assigned the skill points or weapons upgrades as none of them impact gameplay meaningfully. Basically, it just felt like unnecessary chaff. However, this is just a minor quibble, and it didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the game.
If you're looking for a story-driven game with sleek combat and clever environmental puzzles, this is the game for you.
awesome game, great story and continuation to the first one looking foward to continuing the sotry
The best storyline in this triology. Great landscapes. However, i found puzzles too much easy to solve compared to other games. I love it overall <3
Good world building, Amazing gameplay, good story, YES for me + LARA CROFT is badass.
Excellent second game in the new Tomb Raider series. I completed most of it way back in 2019 ad just recently finally got around to finishing it up. Cold Dark was an excellent that I thought worked well as a horror game. I'd actually quite like to see a full horror Tomb Raider game, sounds fun. Achievements weren't too bad, except endurance co-op is a big fan of crashing after you've been playing for an hour and a half trying to get the stupid achievement Adventure Besties. Otherwise great game. Loved it!
Good Tomb Raider game, where Lara gets into sticky situations as always and tries to survive.
if you have played a Tomb Raider game before you already know what to expect, great story, good looking game and tons of action, some minor bugs still exist but nothing that takes away from the experience
It isn't bad, just that its hard to beat to 100. Missions, tombs, challenges all across the map require something that you don't have. sure, you will get it but how do you return to that point of map?? good game, hard to beat. 9/10, one of my favorite reboot tomb raider games
Even 'til this day. the game graphically holds up really well. A great sequel to Tomb Raider (2013), plays a lot like the first game but with all the extra goodness of being a sequel (improvements to graphics, gameplay, etc.) If you played the first one, you may as well play this one too.
Amazing storyline, almost perfect difficulty in max difficulty, and nice music!
One of the best action adventures, event if the plot is not that good. Combat and exploration are what makes this game great and the Baba Yaga DLC was incredible.
This was my first tomb raider game and I was really hoping it would be good but it was just disappointing in my opinion. It just dint click with me and there were a lot of immersion breaking moments like any time you have to do climbing and Lara starts flying to make the jump. While playing this story game I found myself wanting to skip all the cut scenes just so I could finish the game faster and that inst a good sign for a story game. The villain is just flat out terrible wow look evil man with a scar to be easily identified kills his own henchman to display how evil he is, AND GUESS WHAT THE STEP MOM IS EVIL. Again I haven't played previous games so maybe this was a bad first game to play and maybe the super big bad evil man was in previous games but like I don't care. Also something that really bugged me in the very beginning was when he took his glove off to reveal a very identifying wound that was still bleeding what even was that why did he take his glove off to reveal it. I'm assuming it was to show he was from a past game. Mid way through playing this and seeing the winter aesthetic in Russia made me want to go and replay metro exodus.
Was fun but it gets repetitive. Maybe play on the harder difficulty since you will not die in normal.
Love the game, love how its on the edge of your seat or shit I've not got time to think what I'm doing moments, along with great story telling and action.
The best game I have ever played!!! The graphics, stories, features, the adventures with Lara Croft are AMAZING!!! Apart from the previous game, (Tomb Raider) the game aims to explore and gather stuff rahter than experiencing the story. Very much recommended to play <3
The weapons have too much spread, multiplayer achievements that are not fun for achievement hunters as well as coin caches that should be obtainable without explorers satchel etc. However, overall a good game, especially if you manage to get it at a discounted price.
The 2nd game in the trilogy.
It is overall a good game and alot of people enjoy it. The combat and gameplay is still superb, Tho i struggled a bit more to stay focused at times due to the setting and overall story going on. It is still good, And i would recommend to play it before shadow of the tomb raider which concludes the story. There are many things they evolved from the first one and first time we see lara in the model we know her as now. Originally a Xbox exclusive so i had to wait a while before i could play it, since at the time i didnt have a PC at the time, Overall its a wonderful game that alot love. Give it a shot! :))
This was a good game that could have been a great game. The graphics and sound are stellar, I was honestly blown away by the way the snow and ice looked and sounded while being traversed. The platforming and most of the tombs were AAA quality.
It had a few problems though.
For one, upgrading equipment was no longer scavenging stuff in the field, you had to buy it from some dude, and the prices were absolutely preposterous when compared to the amount of coins you actually collect. I was able to get two small upgrades, the others were priced way out of reach even at the end of the game.
2, side quests, they were just "get this, come back here" or "kill this stuff, come back here". Pretty tacked on, underdeveloped.
3. The cinematics for the final boss fights were frustrating. Why did I spend all this time learning these attack skills, upgrading my weapons, using skill points to upgrade, only to be stuck in a cinematic with a button prompt at the end?
4. The tombs with the boats. The boats are awful, the physics do not adhere to the puzzles you're trying to solve, and they are frustrating as all heck.
Overall 7.5/10. The campaign time is worthwhile. The graphics are gorgeous. The platforming is stellar. The story is underbaked. The side quests are abritrary. The upgrades you can do without coin are cool, but the coin system was incredibly unbalanced. Get it on sale and you won't be disappointed.
A very solid entry into the Tomb Raider series with the usual enthralling adventures and story, as well as some vastly upgraded combat, game mechanics, and graphics.
7/10
Improves on everything that was introduced in the first game.
With that said... Combat is still too easy, even on hard. Exploration and platforming is still fairly mindless thanks to rather extreme hand-holding. Puzzles are better but Lara tends to spoil the fun rather easily by giving clues. Also, the over-the-top set-piece moments are still ridiculous and stupid. Lara can't seem to exit any place without it blowing up somehow...
This is the adventure that defines being a Lara Croft fan. Out of the new trilogy, this is the game that reminded me why i fell in love with Raiders of the Lost Ark as a child. The game is visually stunning, with amazing locations. he sense of scope in this game is grandiose. The music is enchanting. The story is captivation. And most importantly the game is fun.
The Challenge tombs make great additions: a step up from the previous game. The world feels alive. I loops around and gives that Dark Souls vibe. The secondary characters are memorable. The the climax of the game concludes an epic adventure in a very satisfying way.
Good sequel. A lot of the same jank from the first game is still present in this one (i.e. inconsistent grabbing onto ledges, climbable walls, and zip lines), but you could probably argue that's just on the player. Anyways, story was good, pacing wasn't noticeably bad or anything, and most of what made the first game so solid is also present in this one. Glad to have played it.
Biased response - I've been a Tomb Raider fan for many years. The game falls in line with the expected open world, puzzles, side missions, secret stashs, etc. The story is interesting, as is character development. The lush natural landscapes, combined with the sheer size of the game and number of secret tombs, make for a terrific addition to the series.
This game is definetly different to the first one. It is bigger and focuses more on gathering and exploring than the first one. I prefer both types equally but honestly I did not explore everything in this game. I read every letter that I saw but did not look into every cave because it was simply too much for me. I enjoyed the little side quests and the DLC mission.
To make it simple I would say that this game has definetly a better story than the first one but I prefered the look of the first game more. Not the visuals but the world and scenery.
The gunplay is the same but with more weapons which is very cool but I sticked to the same ones most of the time ^^
Both Games look really great.
Overall I would give this one a 8/10 and rank it a little higher than Part 1 due to the fact that this one is bigger and you can spend more time with it if you really want.
The story is Top notch! This game is absolutely stunning for the locations that are designed so well and the thrill of exploration and adventure is second to none.
This game is definitely the high point in the "Survivor Trilogy".
It was pretty much taking everything that was great in the Tomb Raider 2013 reboot and improved on it.
Bigger open world, smoother and more polished gameplay and a lot of improvements overall.
Visually it was also a massive step up, in many categories even better looking than quite a few contemporary AAA games.
I hope the fourth Tomb Raider after the Reboot Trilogy can follow this success especially after I was disappointed in the Shadow sequel.
nice game and better quality and fun adventure it also very similar to like a Uncharted game and call of duty nice story mode and play fun and enjoy game this game was purchase to seen in my mall because i am huge fan of tomb raider also the charater of playing like women it better than all game i was played in gta v and also you want purchase original some crack games are hacker my laptop nowdays half original sometimes our cyber crime will get to play crack games this games i was purchase only offer but in indian rupee is 2999 but it give a offer just 299 rs only if want play this game just buy or family share you friend older brother like anything.i am recommend game this i liked and fun to anything of game.i have nivida gtx game it very easy to run my pc but nowdays my pc was broke overplay games and y display you want to be rest your pc.
As someone who enjoys playing Resident Evil type games and for those of you who may not be a fan of zombies, I believe the Tomb Raider games are for you. You've got adventure, strategy, puzzles, weapons but quite specifically the bow and arrow; the predecessor (2013) is worth a shot.
Pros:
- graphics are believable
- immersive storyline and soundtrack
- reasonably sized download
- the controls are quick and adaptable
- many added side missions and challenges
- bought this game in a bundle for less than $15
Cons:
- once you start you won't be able to quit until you finish the game (took me a solid week lol)
Currently starting on Shadow of the TR 2016 ;-)
