Stunning visuals, smooth gameplay, and puzzles that actually make you think. Lara’s journey is worth every minute. It’s like being in your own action movie
Rise of the Tomb Raider is an absolute triumph. Crystal Dynamics has crafted a world that is both breathtakingly beautiful and full of danger. The game's Siberian setting is brought to life with stunning visuals and immersive sound design. The tombs are filled with intricate puzzles that will challenge even the most seasoned adventurer. While the combat is solid, it's the exploration and puzzle-solving that truly shine. Lara Croft's character continues to evolve, and her journey is one that will stay with you long after the credits roll. A must-play for any fan of action-adventure games.
Many things were added to the sequel game (such as a side mission, new mechanics, and great level design compared to the first game). Worth to play
Much better than the first of the trilogy which didn't have much tomb raiding or good puzzles. I like this almost as much as Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but I'm partial to the jungle setting.
I wouldn't have thought the story would be for me with emotional drama, but I found it brought my walls down and made me feel things.
I hope to replay this soon.
The story is a good one. Beautiful gameplay.
Playing the trilogy now and I am enjoying every bit of it. Better than the first, but miss the rope repelling thing to easily go up the rope lines.
I love the platforming and art direction of the game, but it is ultimately lags too much especially during the combat sections, even after I've turned down the graphics to their lowest. My device more than meets the requirements to run this game so it is a bit frustrating. The controls are also a bit janky with Lara jumping sideways into an abyss or forgetting to deploy her axes during crucial moments. The story is alright, pretty predictable, from the moment Jacob showed up onscreen I knew he probably had the divine source or whatever. All things considered it's a mediocre game, but I don't think I can recommend it.
The Best of the trilogy.
Rise of the Tomb Raider brings us a survivor Lara yet fierce at times of confronting enemies. The reboot shows Lara a more simple girl struggling to step on her father's shoe to figure out who she is an archaeologist trapped in an evil world of predators, smugglers, cults and politics. well isn't it all about that? yes it is but with a twist! We grew up with Lara Croft's adventures a flawless commando not a survivor capable of almost anything almost like Sam Fisher lol. I find the trilogy reboot better in story telling especially ROTTR staying on the edge of survival and adventures not as bad ass as SOTTR and not as innocent as the first one in the series.
The gameplay is totally an improvement to its prequel, bigger environment design, better mechanics, better dialogs and character design. the only flaw is what happened to Jonah wasn't he Latino? I guess the devs still doesn't have what they want out of this character.
Let's not talk about the graphics, evolutionary in its time is best to describe it I think
Over all in my opinion the game's not a masterpiece but a totally worth it to spend a good amount of time on it and enjoy exploring the world of Tomb Raider.
Nice gameplay. Graphics is also okay for an old game.
Been waiting for ages to play this game, got the bundle and all I can say is money well spent!
Try this game and you'll not get bored!
While the visuals are very good, gameplay is boring and story is very predictable & shallow.
Could not complete it for the sake of completion.
Game #44 of My Backlog Clearing Journey
Status: Completed
It's nothing crazy, but it's a perfectly serviceable action-adventure game that actually makes meaningful improvements to the formula established by the game before it, so it gets a thumbs up in my book.
Great puzzles and the run-through scenes where you have to control Lara in certain situations were quite exhilarating, exciting and most important of all, engaging. The tomb exploration bits were a key highlight (as expected) and it all adds to the storytelling experience. Gets your blood pumping and keeps you engaged. I especially liked the stealth combat mechanics. The only "drawback" in my opinion would be the fact that the main storyline felt kind of short and the ending seemed a little rushed. Never played the first instalment so this is my first impression of the trilogy but my experience overall was good. 4/5
Rise of the Tomb Raider had me hooked! The storyline? Chef's kiss. The gameplay? A workout just watching Lara in action. It’s so satisfying to see her growing into a total badass—confident, clever, and climbing like it’s her day job. But let’s spare a moment for the Prophet… poor guy, trying to fulfill some grand purpose only to end up a plot point. Still, Lara’s got tombs to raid, puzzles to solve, and ancient mysteries to kick to the curb. Honestly, I came for the action but stayed for the drama (and the cardio I wish I could handle).
Improvement in comparison to the first entry. Story is a bit lacking, but an enjoyable experience overall. Would recommend, especially for cheap.
Horrible multiplayer experience.
I disconnect a lot so I often play offline. I didn't get credits even for completing story mode challenge/tombs, is missing out A LOT, and I lost a couple of cards too when I tried expedition.
I don't know if this issue affects everyone, but my internet is pretty damn fine. I cleared Diablo 3 hardcore and Diablo 2 Resurrected with it.
one of the best game great graphics cinematic preview and action packed must play
I liked the first game a lot, and this game did everything better. The combat was improved, the exploration was better, the story was amazing, and the graphics are STUNNING. Phenomenal game
A difficult puzzle game that is playable in mostly a straight line so you know where you need to go next, the stealth and combat are awesome, I highly recommend
while the combat gets a bit repetitive still a pretty decent title & the graphics are absolutely stunning too. finished it in around six hours which is surprisingly extremely short compared to the play through of others.
The Story is kinda dumb... but the game is a perfect mix of exploration and action, and keeps giving you more tools to keep the game fun. It is linear, but it gives a bunch of fun playgrounds. Great fun!
bought this when the franchise was on sale. never played a Tomb Raider game before. enjoyed this one at least as much as the first one. definitely going to try the last one next. TR required 30 hours for 100%. Rise required 50. hopefully Shadow is just as good. the storyline, plot, and characters are still pretty cheesy but the gameplay has been solid. combat is still versatile and puzzles are still fun.
PROS:
- overall a huge improvement from first game
- better graphics
- ok story
- more tombs and puzzles compared to previous title
CONS:
- hardest difficulty only saves your progress at campfires, leading to very frustrating experience as you can imagine
[*]multiplayer achievements are no longer obtainable without exploits/cheesing
FINAL SCORE: 8
it has verry good graphics and cool gameplay
A very solid game, The gameplay is really good and the fast travel system makes it fun to do mission at your own pace and let you explorer the optional missions as you want.
The graphics are pretty good even for 2024.
I still prefer Shadow of the Tomb Raider over Rise of the Tomb Raider, because of the setting and the deeper skills system but these parts are good in this game too.
If you like the other games from this recent Tomb Raider trilogy, you won't be disappointed here. I strongly recommend this game.
good game good ending but thee are some bugs in game
This game has a lot of improvements, from the resources that are made more and the bow that I like about this game is the skills, abilities and types of arrows that never make me bored using them for the story in this game, it's very, very good, I like how the residents in that place are. always wary of new things and for a naive villain I like a little bit, because it seems like his brother looks very siscon, overall for me this game 9/10
I can't wait to play "Shadow of the Tomb Rider"
Out of all the trilogy, this one was by far my favorite. The story is great, the puzzles are challenging and also manageable, so much action. My favorite is whenever we get to the part where we non-stop running and avoiding obstacles. Overall, I really recommend this game :D
My thoughts on Rise of the Tomb Raider are fairly mixed though I still recommend it as a decent game to play. The level design and jumping/climbing mechanics are good for the most part though there was the odd occasion where input lag led to unnecessary deaths. The biggest issue I have with the game is the whole Trinity storyline. The best thing about the Tomb Raider reboot game was the fact that Trinity are barely mentioned, giving the game a more grounded feel. Now, however, Lara has to deal with this supposedly powerful organisation that could supposedly kill her at any time, yet they either fail or choose not to as plot armour. It honestly feels like a lame play on the whole Templar idea from the Assassin's Creed series. The plot of Rise is also not as good as its predecessor with plot holes all over the place, idiot defenders of the 'source' who know they can't win and yet despite having an almost unbeatable army of the dead protecting the source already seem to feel the need to throw themselves into harm's way for no real reason. Then there are all the meaningless collectibles and challenges which are just there to pad out game time. The best thing about this game are the challenge tombs and crypts... those at least feel like a real Tomb Raider game. So yeah, nowhere near as good as the first game but decent enough if you can buy it on special.
Great game, lots of things to do and look for: relics, challenges, murals, caches... u name it! Great story too!
1 advice: if u want to achive 100% maps like i did, please, wait until full weapens and tools. its easier. Have fun!
Much better than the first game, not as good overall as the third game but still very good.
Open combat is significantly more fun in this than the other two but the stealth gameplay isn't as good as Shadow, it's still fun though.
It also has some mechanics that Shadow desperately needed but didn't get, like being able to set map waypoints and see collectables through walls.
Graphically it looks amazing, not as good as Shadow but it's very pretty.
There's not much else to say. Besides the few issues below, it actually has no problems at all unlike the other two games. All of the issues I had with both of the other games are gone in this.
It's just a really good game, if a bit short.
The gameplay is really fun, the maps are fun to explore, the story is engaging, all of the voice actors did excellent jobs and Lara's voice actor, despite being the same actor as in Shadow, can consistently speak English properly in this unlike in Shadow.
I had at least 3 crashes, all in the same section, but outside of that I had no other crashes or technical/graphical issues at all. It was the part where Trinity attacks for the first time and you encounter an enemy with a flamethrower, once I was actually out of that section I didn't crash again.
The only issue with the game is that, like the other two games, Lara is subjected to excessive amounts of violence and harm but survives everything because the developers/director didn't want her to actually get hurt in a meaningful way that impacts the story but they still wanted to get off to her being a damsel in distress because they're fucking disgusting fetishists. It's at least not anywhere near as bad as the first game.
Amazing story mode and the graphic don't disappoint even thought the game i kinda old not
This game has an average story but gameplay is good. The visuals and world is really nice, it's a Sudo open world game. Main story is good but DLC didn't even grab my interest. my rating for this game 3/5.
Positives:
1. The world design, i really love the world, it's very beautiful and the lighting is mostly perfect.
2. Graphics, this game has a very good graphics, well optimised, rarely had bugs glitches, might be 1 or 2.
3. Story, story is good but they could've done better, its okay but not upto the level. Few missions felt repetitive
4. Gameplay, comparing to the other 2 tomb raider games, this game has good gameplay.
5. Puzzle solving and Tombs, puzzles in this game are really good, few puzzles need more thinking while few are very lame. toombs raiding is the heart of this game, after completeing each tomb we can feel the dopamine hit.
Negatives:
1. DLC's, this game doesn't need much of DLC and it feels forceful ig bcz i didn't feel it's interesting and the dlc's didn't even attract me, i started it but i left in the very begining itself.
2. Replayability, i feel that may be you can play it 1 new game and it doesn't feel interesting in replaying it, so there is no much replayability in this game.
3. Controls, I faced some misinputs in this game and it felt so annoying, most cases controls were good but in few important places the controls had some misinputs.
In overall thegame is good but it could've been better.
Although I enjoyed a great part of the game, with all the little annoyances scattered over the entire game from start to finish. I cannot give this game a good review. It has so much potential and I can't wait to try the next game. If they fix the little bits, it might be better than the first in this series.
I got the game on sale for like 4 bucks, so I can't really complain, but about ten hours into it I had a game-breaking bug (mine cart I needed to progress, decided it felt the need to launch the international rail cart space program and fuck off into outer space), which required me to reload to a two hour old auto save. Kinda disappointed, that AAA games like these can't even get proper bug testing right
Almost everything seems fine to me but the interaction is restricted in different maps and we have to follow everything strictly, I wished it was bit more dynamic and AI Army seems too lose and lost on their own ! Other than, the game is awesome.
Although i have just started playing i can already see this is going to be good, i have finished the 2 previous tomb raiders and they were 10/10
Da primeira vez que joguei, senti que fosse um grande DLC para o primeiro jogo. Supera o reboot de 2013 em gráficos e no tamanho dos mapas. No roteiro, o antecessor ainda é melhor. Vale a pena se gostou do reboot de 2013, especialmente se comprar em promoção.
It's a great game and still holds up to this day. It's feels like Uncharted but with female protagonist and small map.
Just like every tomb raider, a masterpiece.
Good story, gameplay, progression, quests, graphics are phenomenal, riddles, everything is good and worth buying.
9/10
Continues to impress me in every way, how more in-depth & immersive they get. Drills you in the more you progress. Got no genuine complaints about the game, has drastically improved in every way, from how the game plays to the graphics having a major upgrade from the others.
Not many words needed. The game is a masterpiece with some minor flaws which dont even effect the gameplay, like how the enemies are deaf and cant hear u running around them while u make noise and while going up a wall it sometimes doesnt react to ur action or just misses it somehow. Game its self is not that long but if u also take the time to explore and upgrade ur stuff theres atleast 10 hours of solid gameplay, story is very nice and interesting, doe its kinda weird that the end turns into magic stuff but thats okay, ending could be better, Overall worth the money
Good game, nice puzzles short but intense!
Just Beautiful story and Epic game.
This is one of if not the best tomb raiders this game has so much to offer but it's not that open world but it is a big map. PS: this is a really, really fun game. :)
This game it´s awesome: The gameplay, the grafics, the mechanics, the story 10 out of 10
The character development puts modern day games like Starfield and SW Outlaws to shame. Really great with little loss due to age.
Rise of the Tomb Raider takes everything that was great about the 2013 reboot and improves it in every way imaginable. From the moment I started playing, I could tell this was a step up. The story, once again, is fantastic, pulling me in from the start, but this time the stakes felt even higher, and Lara’s character development is more pronounced. The atmosphere remains immersive, but now with even more breathtaking landscapes and environments that make exploration a joy.
The gameplay is where the improvements really shine. The combat feels more polished and fluid, making every encounter satisfying. Stealth mechanics are far better too, allowing for more creative approaches. Whether you’re hiding in bushes or taking out enemies with underwater takedowns, the game offers so many ways to deal with threats. It gives you the freedom to play how you want, and that’s something I loved.
The tomb puzzles? Even tougher this time around, but also way more fun. Some of them really pushed me to think outside the box, and I loved that sense of challenge. Completing each one gave me the same sense of satisfaction as the previous game, but on a higher level. These challenges weren’t just fun—they were an integral part of what made this game so special.
I completed 82% of the game by the time I wrote this review, and I’ve been playing it every day since I got it. The experience has been so engaging, I found myself constantly coming back for more. It’s rare for a game to keep me this hooked, and I’m really glad I purchased it.
Overall, Rise of the Tomb Raider is a 10/10. It’s an incredible game that I recommend to anyone who loves action-adventure, puzzle-solving, and immersive storytelling. If you haven’t played it yet, don’t hesitate—this is one game you absolutely need to try!
Impoved on the 2013 version in everyway. looks beatiful, the gampleay has become more tactile and .focuses more on looting and less on the action element as 2013 version. its diffrent but good . mostly the whole 90 percent of game is set in ice world. very good adventure. excited to play the 3 rd installment.
Good Game, but Disrespects Your Time as a Player
It keeps the good parts of the first game. Lara, good graphics, climbing movement, the bow, the fights and the flat action story.
But here the disrespecting part:
Everywhere are little reminders that an attempt was made to turn a linear story game into an open world, because this was the hype of the time. In order to collect 100% of some maps, you sometimes have to run from several different camp fires to the middle of the map and back again because there is a hard cut in the middle of some maps.
Many collectibles not getting marked, also with a treasure map. As player you either have to run the entire map and hope for the controller to vibrate, or start google it .
The crafting and the amount of weapon types are so bad thought out.
Early, crafting is a real hurdle because you never really have enough resources for fire, arrows and upgrades.
Later, you can survive every fight like Rambo because you craft masses of ammunition and healing on the fly.
All additional modes are complete crap. Endurance and Cold Darkness are the slightly better ones. But they are all connected to this stupid, buggy card system that you have to exploit after finishing the main story in order to drop the best cards.
Score-attack is extremely lost, just replay the game with a heavy force on what and how you have to play.
Croft Manor is ok.
100% Extreme Survivor, 65% overall completion
