Just anther trash in my library
It's got quite a bit of content for the price and it's not a bad take on the top down GTA formula but depending on your slant for said such sprees of sacking and slaughter... might get too repetitive rather darn quick.
This game gets very old very quickly. There really isn't much to the gameplay, and it's basically a repetition of the same few levels. You upgrade your character and his guns throughout the game, but that progression alone doesn't save the game from it's redundancy. The game is in dire need of some variety. Different kinds of enemies, different locations, different kinds of weapons, etc.
As a said, the game is very samey. It has tons of levels, but you will have seen all the same has to offer only after completing a fraction of them. Then it just sort of repeats the same cycle.
THIS IS A NEUTRAL REVIEW.
A mediocre top down shooter. The graphics is bad (it looks like it was made with Paint), and also the sound.
I was moderatly entertained. There are upgrades, various levels and environments, humor.
This game doesn't take itself too seriously.
Buy only if you really like top down shooters.
+Appealing hand-drawn graphics
+Can run on potato PCs
-Boring! There are maybe 3 or 4 kind of level designs which repeat in a loop & just get harder to beat.
-Grind! Just to finish the game you need too much grind to make money for upgrades. If you want to unlock achievements too then you need three much grind!
-No cloud save.
*If you enjoyed this game then give this a try!
Fun Game
Absolutely worth the money and time.
Very fun but can be quite challenging at times, especially on hard.
Also, Hard mode enables bullet hell btw
I do not like this game... this is a Neutral review of the game
You are basically the hero with guns, you shoot with left mouse button and use right click to use "Special" skill , both are about the same, your skill is just your another pair of gun, like a Granade launcher add on on your rifles, but you will get randoms weapon, skill from time to time (mission to mission)
Simplistic graphics, boring sound effect, boring music, just shoot at the bad guys, move from point A to Z, some vehicles control are annoying, especially the spaceship
You are not missing much if you skip this game, it's a grind fest, boring skills, upgrades
Yeah, a 5/10 Only at Sale
for chump change you can do a whole lot worse, but you can also do a whole lot better.
a update version of state of anarchy with new weapons a lot of levels and more emphasis on the alien part in the original game we barely saw then nice we explore more about the alien invasion here
about the game is a simple but epic shooter with ton of action and a really nice art style
i highly recommend try state of anarchy before trying master of mayhem so you can feel the experience of how much this game improve also the dev lapovich team deserve all the love and support for this game
At first, I thought this would be another gimmicky unity asset mashed attempt at a Steam game. However, I was pleasantly surprised when playing that I thoroughly enjoyed the game and here's why:
Pros:
♦ Music aids gameplay and makes grinding more enjoyable
♦ Great concept/gameplay at first
♦ Artstyle is amazing
♦ Good choice of upgrades/unlockables
♦ Hardly any skill is required - This makes the game good to chill to when you want something to play here and there. If you want a challenge, this won't be for you.
♦ Nice number of achievements
♦ Price to gameplay ratio is great - $2.00 AUD and game gives an hour or so of gameplay before getting repetitive (Took me around 8-9hrs to finish all the levels minus the new game+ and grindy achievements)
Cons:
♦ Music is very loud - can only mute the whole game whilst in a playthrough and must quit to main menu to lower the volume
♦ Repetitive - Despite getting a new weapon every round and occasionally a new enemy, all the levels are 100% the same until you get to a boss round. This makes the game very repetitive.
♦ Some achievements seem way too grindy - such as buy 50 Weapon Upgrades, Unlock 40 Talents and Reach level 90 (You can finish the game without getting these and have to replay and mindlessly grind to unlock these with no benefit)
♦ Spaceship controlling is annoying
♦ No story - Would be more playable if there was some kind of story
♦ Can't remap controls
♦ Final Boss seemed to be one of the easiest bosses in the game
♦ New Game+ after beating the game has nothing worth re-playing the game for (Unless you want to grind for achievements)
Overall, despite the game being repetitive, some achievements taking way too long to get and controls not being re-mapable... If you have a spare minute or two and like chill, hand drawn, top-down shoot 'em arena type games... I recommend you try this out as you'll get your monies worth of fun!
State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem is an enjoyable top-down shooter. It has 48 stages to fight your way through to earn primary and secondary weapons, and money and skill points for upgrades.
I obtained all the achievements for the game in about 12 hours, taking on the waves of enemies with various weaponry and vehicles. I become supremely powerful in stage 46 by taking advantage of the three close enemy barracks, and then finally completed the game and saved the world!
On the down side, there's only 6 different map templates with minor changes in each, so the scenery can get a little dull. In addition, when you finish the game you can access a New Game+ mode, but there's no real incentive to play it. Finally, there was a bug (or was it a feature?) where my guns were more powerful the next time I loaded the game (which was helpful at times).
Overall though, it was a fun little game to kill some time with, and that's all that really matters!
7/10
It's a very good game. The art style's amazing. I love it. It's cool.
Just grab your gun and join the fun!
Nice easy artstyle and funny soundeffects. Less can be as good as more.
Very good music tracks.
Little gem that gives good entertaining.
Very nice (2D) top view shooting game.
This hand-drawn style combined with human-made sfx makes this very special.
I like it
Completely exceeded all expectations brilliant in so many ways i can see my self logging another 100 hours on this one. Hopefully multiplayer in the future.
Brilliant, super simple fun! Gameplay is great - just run and gun and gun and run as much as you like. Brilliant soundtrack as well - and all this for such a low price. Incredible 20/10 :)
Very nicely done game that reminds me Postal. Graphis is simple, drawn like you can see. Sounds are funny, music cool and gameplay simple as well. You land in little city and shoot stuff. Lookout on enemies that want to shoot you too. Kill to gather levels and gather cash to be stronger. Missions are rather easy, go to place and kill someone or something, go further with new weapon. For such a price can't say anything wrong about this game. Is really well done.
Positive surprise! Wanted to drop it in the shovelware corner of the library and installed it just for fun. After some levels I am sure that I´ll play it to the end and catch those achievements.
If you´re looking for a solid top-down shmup and don´t want to spend big money, just give this one a try. Gfx, soundtrack and overall sillyness combine to a neat gaming experience and a good "just 5 more minutes" factor.
Loved it brilliant arcade shooter ,smooth gameplay with a challenging objective and a good price :) Definitely recommend this product

TLDR: Very Repetitive, Buggy, Grindy. Charming initially, but no depth. Sapping motivation to reach for the ending and struggling against competing titles.
Quickly becomes a bullet hell nightmare that you can only survive by grinding xp. Liked the doodles and mouth-made technology sound effects but novelty dies quick and the game just doesnt have any staying power. Besides, the updates have deleted my saves and thus all my progress.
State of Anarchy: Master of Mayhem was a little bit of a gamble for developper Lapovich. Re-releasing the same game, using the same graphical assets, sound effects and whatnot required the game be substantially improved in one manner or another. Apparently under the hood there is an engine swap from the older title, but in terms of gameplay and content, this mainly just adds ufo missions in between the bank missions, and quite frankly, this falls under the category of patching in my book, not in the category of releasing a sequel. So Lapovich im sorry my mate, but you blew it.
I was hoping for a fleshened out rpg-style skill attribution system, more doodles for each perks, more stuff to do around the town, a transition towards a full fledged doodle-gta, but this is not it. This is still, go to bank, kill boss, take boss gun, drive to alien ship, blow it, get his gun, then chase a ufo around town, blow it take his gun, then back to the bank, then back to the ufo, then back to the ufo chase, then back to the bank then back to the ufo AAARGHHHH
The gunplay itself is not terribly precise you shoot in the general direction you want and hope for the best, the controls are a little floaty and the random terrain generation is very samey with very few assets, you end up having to go through the same stuff over and over again like you are in an old flintstone cartoon, the more you play the worse it gets as objectives are spaced further and further away from you. It becomes a huge chore and a drag on the patience
Dodger game relying on yours reflexes.
Grind fest basically
to rake up enough points to level up for skill points,
running around dodging bullets, flying objects, and picking up cash for upgrades.
Fun at first, gets alittle dull through half the progress after level 20.
Could really use some menu for button configurations for the keyboard,
toggle Sound On - Music Off.
Fortunately the game saves your level and stages progress even when you dies.
Playable.
The plot is paper thin.
The characters don't stick.
Take it back to the drawing board.
In all honesty, its a great, funny and entertaining game with a suprisingly great soundtrack, rivalling those such as Hotline Miami. Worth buying.
