Puzzle Dimension provides probably 100 levels of very smart and intelligent puzzle design. Because of its 3D environments you really need to plan your path well.

You are a ball that rolls around pre-determined maps where you collect flowers. Once you've collected all of the flowers the end level portal opens up. Maps start out very simple where you can move from one path block to another. As you proceed further into the game you will find hidden blocks, spikes, icy blocks where you can't stop, quick sand blocks where you can only jump over another block, and more. Eventually flowers are on both sides of the playing field, meaning you need to find ways to get to the "upside down" area of the map, basically flipping the level.

The trick is that gravity is still very real so jump without a block beneath you means you fall to your death, but fall just right and you may land on a block. What appears simple at first becomes quite tricky towards the end and really gives you those ah ha moments when you finally realize the path you need to take to get the last flower or to finish the level.

The graphics are perfect for this type of game, and you even get to choose your type of block design. Changing it mid-game can take some getting used to as you try to figure out which ones are ice blocks and so on, but it provides some variety, but is unnecessary and does not alter the game in any way.

The music and sounds are decent enough that I never got annoyed with the music, and the sounds of the ball rolling were actually pretty good as sometimes it really does sound like a metal ball rolling on hard ice.

Achievements are fairly easy outside of the fact that the game itself is pretty hard, but if you can finish the levels you will get all of the achievements except for the points achievements. Points are given for collecting flowers, but blocks start out pixelated in the level. As you roll adjacent to other blocks, they are unpixelated and that counts for points. After enough points you will get combo points up to 32x, meaning each block unpixelated is 32x the point value as when you start the level from scratch. The trick here is that you need momentum to get to 32x so you have quickly get there or else a timer slowly reduces the potential for you to reach the next combo score. This is to say that some of the achievements are not easy to obtain.

However, if you like leaderboards, you can pursue points for that as well outside of the goal of unlocking achievements. I'm not sure at how well the leaderboards work, but they are there none the less with not too many that appear to have cheated, but those that did are pretty obvious.

If you like puzzle games I highly recommend this game. I played it a long time ago and picked it back up to finish and get 100% achievements, and I was just as entrenched in this game as I was the first time. It's quite good and again very well designed to keep you mind bending.

This game has screwed my mind, but in a good way. When I started browsing Steam's store and beholding a confusing world of game options I'd have never thought existed before then, this is one that landed in my crosshairs.

It's simple and spectacular and a game above all else with a surreal premise and no explanation - a true early-to-mid-2000's zeitgeist game despite it being listed here on Steam as of 2010, supposedly.

The premise is as simple as it looks. You roll, you jump, you try to clear the floor, and there are bonus options for a better score. A return of a game-curious non-gamer's game for which simply the premise of what you were controlling and how mattered in a big way for making the game experience- and me, I liked, and wanted - I still like and want, to be honest - the satisfaction of rolling a giant ball around.

For simplicity and a return to what was on the OfficeMax shelves back when Linkin Park and Green Day were picking up Steam, I recommend Puzzle Dimension.

well finally decide finish this game , bought long ago and well here I go. this game is really good. The solutions can take time and get the achivement of points can be hard.. or will be hard if I not say this first, focus in get all the blocks first, and then the flowers so you get more points. Beware of places that you can't go back but except for that is all good.

Give it a try if like puzzles and spatial memory.

As you advance the game, puzzles increase in complexity like :

Tutorial --> Eat a chicken cheese Burger.
......
Level 1 --> Count 1 to 10.
Level 2 --> Solve for 5 + 15.
Level 3 --> A is B's sister. C is B's mother. D is C's father. E is D's mother. Then, how is A related to D?
...
Level 4 --> Consider a non-pipelined processor operating at 2.5 GHz. It takes 5 clock cycles to complete an instruction. You are going to make a 5-stage pipeline out of this processor. Overheads associated with pipelining force you to operate the pipelined processor at 2 GHz. In a given program, assume that 30% are memory instructions, 60% are ALU instructions and the rest are branch instructions. 5% of the memory instructions cause stalls of 50 clock cycles each due to cache misses and 50% of the branch instructions cause stalls of 2 cycles each. Assume that there are no stalls associated with the execution of ALU instructions. For this program, what is the speedup achieved by the pipeline processor over the non-pipelined processor ?

Information / Review English

Puzzle Dimension is a puzzle game developed by Doctor Entertainment AB.

Gameplay /Story

The principle of Puzzle Dimension is simple: As a golden marble you roll through 100 levels and collect sunflowers. So that the brain cells get something to do, you roll through 3D labyrinths made up of lots of small fields. These squares take on all sorts of shapes, each with a specific, logical effect. Spikes destroy your own ball just like flaming grill fields. Crumbling platforms crumble when you roll over them and on ice fields the gold marble automatically slides in one direction. So when you are beamed into the respective level, you have to think about it first. The first puzzles are solved in no time, but soon you have to brood for a while until you have found the right way through the 3D structure.

Pro

+ Child-friendly
+ well balanced puzzles
+ idyllic soundtrack
+ invites you to think
+ Achievements

Contra

- partly simple backdrops
- Turnouts sometimes confusing

Conclusion

Puzzle Dimension convinces with interesting puzzles that also invite you to think. to solve this.

Information / Review Deutsch

A wonderful mix of planning, exploring, puzzling out what went wrong the previous attempt, thinking out of the box and a great sense of achievement with each and every level that you get through. The difficulty seems just right, there is not a single unfair level, and even 3dimensionally challenged people like me can wrap their heads around the more involved stages. Asthetically pleasing, relaxing, challenging... A perfect game.

I strongly recommend you use the second tileset, the others can be too dark for you to see what you need to see at some angles.

I won't lie, I loved this game. It is a simple puzzle game, that has a pleasant difficulty curve. The premise is that you are a ball and you have to collect sunflowers in order to open up a portal, which when you go through ends the level. The game starts with normal tiles and easy paths, but soon starts to introduce special tiles, like inviseible, bouncy, snowy,... which make for some interesting levels. To me this was a game that I always went back to when I listened to youtube videos, or when I wanted a quick game. I think it's worth the price and that it definetly deserves a place on steam.

You need to give this game a chance at the start and then it shines.

I bought this game and got frustrated with the controls. I played it again over a year later and once you get the hang of it, it is a lot of fun. I highly suggest a controller if you have it!

The best part of this game is going for high scores. The strategy required to squeeze out every possible point is the challenge this game provides.

There are about a jillion ways to roll a ball around on Steam, so it really matters how clever the challenges of rolling them are. Puzzle Dimensions starts out simply enough, tasking you with rolling your ornate ball into flowers and portals without plunging into the abyss. But the puzzles amp up quickly, pushing your comprehension of the mechanics to their limits before then introducing new ones. It's a straightforward game with clear mechanics, but succeeds in making the most of them as any good puzzle game does.

Despite being a big proponent of narratives in games, I really appreciate that puzzle games specifically do not require any world-building. This leaves the developers free to craft a wholly unique setting for their puzzles, like the yawning cubist void found here. Your gilded sphere tumbles around on square platforms suspended in this place, turning their appearance from pixellated to high-resolution when it gets near. I have no idea why it does this but it's a neat touch that helps you keep track of where you've been, and also adds the optional challenge of completely de-pixellating a puzzle before solving it.

Solving said puzzles is as simple as collecting all the flowers and reaching the exit gate. Your ball is locked to the grid of squares so don't worry about tight maneuvers or twitch reflexes here, all you need is extensive planning. You can only roll and jump, so everything past that is going to depend on the features of the level and there a lot. I've had to contend with frozen blocks, collapsing platforms, springboards, fire traps, and switch-activated spikes, all just in the first few dozen levels. There's nothing really unique among those hazards admittedly, but they're used in devious combinations that have stumped me more than once.

What is (more) unique is how gravity works. Some platforms are slanted up or down, and when you roll onto them your view rotates to match. This also rotates gravity, and it stays in its new bearing until you traverse another incline. That means if you roll your ball up a 90 degree slope and then hop off the side, the world stays turned on its edge. You'll be using this in the vast majority of levels to collect flowers on the tops, bottoms, and sides of platforms, and some of the transitions can be pretty tricky to find and use.

I keep mentioning it but the real appeal of Puzzle Dimensions is that it's actually pretty hard. Even with just the most basic mechanics in play, the puzzles challenge you to work out optimal paths and three-dimensional solutions. And if you don't struggle to beat the stages, there's a whole scoring and multiplier mechanic tied to de-pixellating platforms that adds an extra layer to puzzle over. Honestly I'm only about halfway into the game but almost every level has me spending minutes just staring at the layout, planning my moves out a dozen rolls in advance.

As solid as the puzzling is, keep in mind that's all you're getting. There are no customization options, no unlocks, no secret stages, nothing but your brain versus a hundred devious puzzles. The graphics at least are incredibly sharp, with bold colors and incredibly detailed textures. The interface is nice and clean as well, and the audio design features rich, immersive effects that bother to get the sound of metal on stone or ice correct. Overall it reminds me a lot of the early titles on Xbox Live Arcade, simple, no-frills games polished to a mirror shine. That's exactly what you're getting here, a clean-cut puzzler that delivers on challenge in a big way.

6.2/10 - Unique Pixel Puzzle Platformer

Pretty fun game here; not my favorite but I can see some players really getting into it. A Pixel based puzzle platform where you are a ball and must navigate a degrading map. Basically, you carefully plan your moves to be able to collect 3 flowers while still having the blocks to make it to the exit.

It's pretty hard! So if you are good at games or enjoy a challenge this game is for you. If you like games that you can be victorious with... maybe this isn’t the game for you. Over 100 levels are available and the soundtrack makes this a pretty chill game until you get stuck.

Worth the $3!

Game Information

"Puzzle Dimension" is a Platformer game that was developed and published by Doctor Entertainment AB.

The Game Review

Game Visuals

I want to mention that the visuals in the game are well done. The visuals can be adjusted in the game's option menu.

Game Audio

I want to mention that audio for the game is well done. Even though the audio is somewhat simplistic and repetitive. The audio can be adjusted in the game's option menu as well.

Gameplay

There are no difficulty game modes to choose from. Each of the puzzles has their own difficulty.

It is recommended to play the tutorial puzzle levels to understand the puzzles' functions.

There are four different themes unlocked by playing the game to collect the flowers.

There are roughly a hundred puzzles to solve, they are divided up to ten clusters, each has different puzzles. The first clusters automatically unlock. While the remaining clusters are locked. And they require an "x" amount of flowers before they can be unlocked.

There is no reset button in this game. Plan out the solution before completing the puzzles. If an error has been then the puzzle has been restarted. There is an opportunity to replay all the puzzles for a better score.

There are twenty-five different achievements that can be unlocked from playing the game. Each of these achievements does come with some requirements that need to be completed before they can be unlocked.

Miscellaneous

Final thoughts: I have found the game enjoyable to a certain extent. The replay value of the game is low. I would recommend this game, but not at the game's full price value.

I am sad about "Puzzle Dimsensions". I am sad because this great game has been out for 5 years and I only found about it today. I am also sad because at 0,74€ I feel that I am stealing the developers.

After ~6 hours of addictive gameplay, I am glad to say that whoever wanted a sequel to the PS1 "Kula World / Kula Quest / Roll Away", this game is all you ever wanted.

Challenges you to think; solving increasingly complex puzzles in three dimensions. Up can be down, and down and be up which can be disorienting from time to time. It does add great depth to the levels & used with strong effect by some excellent level designs.

Ten zones with ten puzzle levels in each. I found that the difficulty fluctuated somewhat between zones and levels, sometimes dealing a relatively easy one you complete in mins, to others that had me scratching my head for a long time. Saying this, overall you do still feel the levels gradually get harder as you proceed further through the game relying more on your spatial awareness & reflexes.

Big Picture friendly, the controls are simple to learn and most forgiving (that's not to say you won't fall to your doom a multitude of times regardless lol). Unlike the free movement in Spectraball for example, Puzzle Dimension works off a grid layout, moving you one square at a time in the direction your camera is facing. Each surface may be different though, and you need to calculate their effect into your moves as well as the layout of the level. These increase the complexity (gradually introduced) and includes such modifiers as ice (can't stop on square), fire (can stop, but can't stay long), spikes (jump over) or limited use squares that disintegrate! There are many more.

The high quality environments have a bit of a surreal feel, with the levels themselves floating in a virtual void. They look great! I would recommend putting v-sync on for those with higher end graphics cards as the game seems to run my card full throttle making it run hot. Sounds have a very 'arcadey' feel to them and are pretty good too.

There really isn't much that detracted from my experience, although it can get frustrating on some longer and more complex levels to have to start from the very start again (there is no mid-level checkpoints). You almost have to memorise the entire run and practice and practice and practice some more to complete it. Adds to the difficulty, most certainly, but sometimes results in shorter sessions later in the game. Think an easier difficulty with checkpoints on longer/complex levels could help keep more casual puzzle players engaged and progressing through.

All-in-All, Puzzle Dimension is an underrated title, offering excellent value for the amount of well-designed levels you get. Impressive overall quality from graphics & sound, to menus, to gameplay. Well worth checking out for those who like to flex their mental muscles!

Puzzle Dimension has got to me one of my top favorite puzzle games. It has a simple objective in gathering all of the sun flowers; however, the trick is getting to each and everyone of them and then getting to the exit portal (granted that you took the correct route in getting to that point).

Different set-ups, tiles with different properties, map rotating (both movement and vision), and falling off edges to get to other places on the map makes many of these levels difficult and tricky to solve. I have thoroughly enjoyed it to this point and will continue to complete each level, as there are quite a few...

This is a game that is well worth your money. It has so much content and has tons of replayability. This is a real gem that mustn't be missed for any Puzzle genre fans! The graphics are unique (to me) and it's a great time way to enjoy your downtime. I haven't seen another game quite like it. This game redefines 3d puzzles!

Even when I couldn't solve the puzzle, I never got tempted to look for the solution in the internet. It's such a rewarding little game with a lot of personality; considering that you're a ball trying to get flowers :D Buy it now and get ready to spend hours of fun!!

It doesn't really come as a surprise to know that the designer of Puzzle Dimension co-founded the development team of Kula World for the PlayStation.

The game play is very much like Kula World's. You navigate a ball around various stages picking up things (flowers, in this game's case) in order to move to the next level.

The levels are all quite smartly made, introducing new concepts and obstacles as you progress through the game in a timely manner. Being able to roll around on more than just the top of some levels is another neat feature from Kula World.

Overall, Puzzle Dimension is one of those nicer puzzle games on the market. Nothing overwhelmingly difficult, but provides enough challenge (and a decent aesthetic for an indie game) to make you feel good about yourself after beating a few levels.

It's definitely worth getting for the price of £1.99, especially if you enjoyed Kula World.

The best $.74 entertainment can buy, this is an addictive puzzler that has been a blast so far - couple hours in. Move the zuma type ball through the puzzle and avoid the structures or obstacles which will detract you on your path.

Gravity is key and effects like fire & ice cause issues and frustration until you get the pattern or problem solved and then its - "I had that figured out, just took me 20 times"

Sometimes I just got to take a break from Skyrim, Borderlands and all the over the top Bigger games and relax with a simple, yet fun and challenging game and this has fit perfect.

Graphics and sound are decent - but lets not get carried away the game is on sale now for 74 cents... you are getting what you pay for and in my opinion it is - ✓Recommended
