Very rough, clearly unfinished, extremely poor English that leaves you guessing at what stuff does, but despite all that its fun for a few hours, and worth the small price. You will experience everything the game has to offer in about 5 hours of playtime.
Edit: Just manged to beat the game before the game bugged out, set my level to 0, and I was unable to get XP again. Intentional or bug? Who knows.
TLDR: The game is alright but very rough around the edges...
As others are saying the way death works is stupid you lose everything in your cargo when you die and the npcs tend to like to ram you. Ramming damage is extremely deadly and the npc ships don't even try to avoid collisions with you which then counts as an attack and they proceed to blow you up. It is especially bad when the npc ship is smaller than you and faster than you so you literally can't get out of the way. The game has also seemingly been abandoned yet remains as "early access" despite that.
This game really need more development. I can't do quests, because after I warp into a zone -> instant death. Currently sadly unplayable for casual play. Maybe if I would spend hours to grind for better equipment, but that's ruin the fun of these games. I would suggest to wait a few more years before buy.
Fun for a while but buggy and abandoned
For $5 it's a amazing game that HAD plenty of potential in it's future. I enjoyed making ships and going out to take down pirates or go mining. This game is a good 20ish hours of fun for a relatively cheap price.
It still needs some work as it still feels somewhat incomplete, I've waited about a year and a half to post my review and I can say that the game has been abandoned and there will be no more updates as there has been no updates or posts in the last 2 years. The AI can seem a little buggy sometimes and it seems like skills stop working every now and then.
Personally knowing that this game is not going to be completed or fixed I would not recommend buying this game. Instead wait for Cosmoteer to release on steam, or play it for free at itch.io , as its the best alternative to this game.
Update:
During my testing during windows 11 the game sometimes refuses to launch and when it does it only runs for around 10 to 30 minutes before crashing. Works fine on windows 10.
For a game that's only $4.99 and currently at the time of posting on sale for $2.99, its alright though it feels like it missing something I do not know what although I've already reached the center and as of this review I have only played for 10.1 hours. But if your looking for a time killer this one does the job. Maybe its missing some big bad entity other than the apostle or some kind of barrier to prevent some easy progress to the center. I recommend it since its still in development but remember there are risks involving this especially on steam. Hopefully it doesn't get abandoned and improves.
I love this game and the fact that you can build your very own and fully customized space ship, mods make it even better! 9/10, recommended by a nobody.
The game itself is okay for early access, but it has been in early access far too long and is abandonware at this point IMO. It's a shame in that it had some potential.
Considering that it's been almost 2 years since the last update, this game is abandoned. Don't buy.
Crude stuff, found massive bugs of multiple categories (gameplay, world consistency, UI) within the first hour. Discussions say game is dead, despite the "Early Access" status. It's a bummer, because the basic concept sounded great.
Avoid at all costs. I am refunding now, it is not really enjoyable.
1. Very limited initial build. You will be told no matter what you do that your ship is deficient in various areas. Hardly any cargo capacity, hardly any weaponry, you will have to sacrifice weapon power for defensiveness, but either way you are a sitting duck.
2. Very aggressive mobs. You don't seem to have any friends here, everyone wants to destroy you.
3. You can't travel far because each warp gate jump costs money. But early "easy" quests are many sectors away.
4. The only way to get money is to search for a long time for minerals, which you can only hold so many, and get not much money from. Really slow and difficult grinding just to get credits.
5. Really no documentation and no help and no guide.
Spent 3 hours playing, Unlocked everything, Game Glitched out Now there is a black box for my cursor.
Turning off game and restarting doesn't fix it.
Because there is not several save states I had to restart the game.
2 hours later Same glitch occurs.
This repeated a few times as I tried to get last 3 achievements.
I cannot Reccomend this game until game breaking glitches like this are fixed.

Alright, first impressions!
So as some others say, this game has a TON of potential. So much so it could even eventually qualify for a 15-20$ game (In my opinion). However, you're probably here for a current review. Throughout time I will update this review at milestones.

For any of you that have played Reassembly, this games controls on movement run incredibly similar to that. However, the movement itself will take some getting used to. There isn't a "gyroscope" type movement mode, where your ship stabalizes itself, if you turn and go forward, it will slowly keep turning. This can be INCREDIBLY annoying starting out, but by no means being a gamebreaker.
The combat itself, is pretty fun, especially since how ships are built can change everything, from systems, sub-systems and more. However, starting onto combat early on will be a bit of a grind. With this, there is a Lock-On mode for the camera, which, is incredibly bad currently. It overzooms onto your enemy, and due to the fact you control ALL movement of your ship, you usually are floating slowly away from it rather than broadsiding-or sticking to them.
Building will have you mining most of the time (Early on), and trading in the resources. Stacking your CP (1000 per stack, however hulls itself cost a bit). will take some time on mining, trading in ores for money and returning to the Tech-Station to upgrade your ships cargo capacity.
All in all, currently, the game is for its price, great, and fun. It's building system can take a bit of grinding and controls used to, there are many small things and optimizations that can make this games building and gameplay in general so much better; If you're wondering what this game is most near currently, is Reassembly (Minus the factory).
I'd give this game a 5.5/10 due to the small things that could have been added prior to make building much easier. However, it's still a great game in its current state.

It's been six months since the last update.
It's current state? Relativley unplayable, and EXTREMELY grindy currently. Since no updates, there is a benefit of doubt stuff is happening for the developer in reality. But, at the same time, it's been six months, the game at its current state as others say, is mainly unplayble due to how grindy it is.
Would not reccomend at all.
Honestly, this game has lots of potential. I can't recommend the game in its current state but if you'd like to play it and give feedback to the Devs on how to improve, that would be great!
As for me, I like the game quite a bit but there seems to be aspects lacking in gameplay.
Pros:
+ Two types of controls; Keyboard or Mouse
+ Freedom to create your ship in any way you desire (except for the cap at 36k)
+ A decent array of weaponary that are customizable in functionality
Cons:
- Not much incentive to reach the center of the Galaxy, aside from killing the "Apostle" and his minions which really isn't difficult at all
- 12-24 hours of gameplay before things start to get repetitive
- Killing AI has no sort of penality whatsoever (So you can loot from friendly ships, warp to a new system and the new ones will not attack you)
- As mentioned before, a building cap, which really prohibits creativity and the prowress of your ship
Suggestions:
= Optimization is needed for this game. FPS issues, frequent crashes and major bugs.
= More diverse AI ships
= Wider array of weaponary
= Fleet option; You being able to pilot multiple ships
= Sumo Multiplayer where players can pit their ships against others to gain a name for themselves on the leaderboard
= Removing the level cap in Singleplayer, so that you are able to max out your stats
= Multiple save files
Regardless, I wouldn't recommend the game to friends for now. Perhaps later updates will change my mind otherwise. I still believe that this game is a good game despite it being a vast ocean, a couple of meters deep. It goes to show that it has ways to go!
Ive had this game a LONG TIME and my best advice is for you to avoid it.
While the game does have its strong points, the developer really has no idea how a game should be built and in what steps/order things should be addressed.
New modules, weapons and gameplay elements go in virtually untested. Problems with the game from 2 years ago still plague the latest release. Block sizing does not matter...Skills randomly stop working. Cargo sizes randomly shift when you take damage and repair.
despite what people say, you CANNOT build in any shape you want. In fact, blocks are very very limited in shape and how they fit together.
The armor and shield systems are a mess in how they soak damage and there is NO information about your changes in the actual build screen...not even the most BASIC things you need to know...
The UI is a mess with elements scattered all over the place.
The keybindings are not fully listed and the zoom effects are OUT OF CONTROL....
The dev has been told all these things long ago...This is more like a hobby project that someone works on when they are bored rather then a retail product intended to make money.
By the time this games ready Star Citizen will be out.
I Love this game. and for the price its allready a solid game.
i gifted this game to 2 friends just to support the devs.
DEVS make a multiplayer or lan modus .. that be great.

I got about 5 hours logged so far. I enjoy the game and it is rather addictive, however there is much needed work.
Although given its early access state, it is a stable EXE and is honestly worth 5$.
Pros:
Simple Retro
Small EXE
Large array of components
Challenging custimization
Cons:
Very poor translation.
Construction can be clunky.
Lack of clarification on statistics.
Poor AI.
Collisions are more deadly than combat.
Developer Reccomendations:
Correct AI trajectories. (Detect Collisions)
Perhaps no clipping (Collisions), when there are other ships it can be impossible to fly away or fight without killing friendlies or yourself.
Mining script should be optimized, causes minor lag.
Drone command UI is a must.
Hire a translator.

Hi there,
I'am just about to change my review to negative as I don't see any Developers involvement in the game.They implemented only two small updates (Cloud Storage mainly) for whole 2018 year and at the beginning of this year 2019 (they/he/she) only released one small workshop update that came out in January.
There is not enough developer's involvement in Starship Constructor.This is not a big game per say so updates should occur more frequently and by now the whole game should've been finished.
Fantastic space building game!!!
What I like about StarShip Constructor :
* Freedom of building ( any shape you want)
* Building mode accessible at any moment so you can adjust your ship any time you want.(change guns, add shield, etc,
etc)
* A lot of diferent weapon to choose from
* You need to earn materials to be able to build bigger, better ship by mining or destroying ships.
* You need to unlock modules to be able to build more complex ships.
* Excellent animation and fx
* Brilliant sound and background music.
* Exploration
* Trading
* Fighting bogeys.
* It is not all about building in this game, the main point is to be able to get to the center of Galaxy.
What I would change in StarShip Constructor:
- Skill tree ; I didn't notice any impact on gameplay, I was messing around with skills for a bit ( cos you're able to change skills as you play ) but haven't noticed any visible changes to a gameplay.
- It glitches sometimes but it's Early Access at the end so I can live with that.
Over all SSC gets 8/10.
Looks promising but not enjoyable yet and very rough, both in terms of UI and gameplay. Sporadic bugs (some enemies don't take damage; after leaving a station you spawn kms away from it) and spelling mistakes on the main menu suggests it needs more attention to detail in its design and coding, rather than is just an early release.
Its a pretty fun game but its early access does show. This game is a diamond in the rough, with a bit more polishing it will absolutely shine. The building is pretty simple and straight forward, making money is easy enough. Only things that bother me are as follows.
1. Sometimes when you warp into a new system, you can warp into a bunch of mines. Ive had many encounters with pirates where I'll warp in and then get nailed by 1-2 mines, crippling me and allowing the pirate to finish me off. It seems extremely unfair and you will be praying every warp that you dont jump ontop of the North Korean DMZ.
2. The friendly AI seems a little wonky. I can be kind of funny or frusterating. From the Friendly AI crashing into eachother and in a pit of road rage (space rage?) opening fire on everything that moves, To a friendly AI smashing into you. ( Not only do they crash into you, they BOOST once contact is made, WHAT?!)
3. The combat can be weird. Various weapons have different firing arcs and varing turret rotation speeds. Also during combat it is not uncommon to miss the majority of your shots due to the weird way the game handles aiming in general.
Despite those issues, the game is plenty of fun for a 5 dollar title. As long as the developer shows the game plenty of care the game has a good future.
The game has potential, played the tutorial. seemed alright, but when I went to the galaxy mode ships started spawning in everywhere and my laptop that can run prison architect with 1000 inmates without even slowing down. practically died. so optimization is a must. would recommend if you have a beast computer though, not so friendly on the lower end though. howoever once my computer is fixed, i'll play this all day every day.
